EVERETT M. KELLAM
Everett M. Kellam, 86 of Ravena, died Sunday, July 8, 2007 at St. Peter’s Hospital. Everett was born in Schodack, son of the late Clinton and Rose Mickel Kellam. In 1974 he retired from NYS-Power Plant after 25 years of service. He also drilled wells for many people in the Ravena area.
Survivors include his children, Julie (Bob) Williams of Stuyvesant, NY, Gary (Missy) Kellam of Hadley, NY and Brad (Bonnie) Kellam of Selkirk, NY; sisters, Mary Kellam and Phyllis Skidmore, both of Greenville; stepdaughters, Carol (Brad) Jordan of Amsterdam, NY; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lilian Kellam of Hannacroix, Elaine Kunz of GA, Florence Kins of Ravena, Margaret Davis of Greenville and Rose Kins of Clarksville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Everett was predeceased by his wife Florence and wife Mildred; daughter Linda Cornell; son, Randy Kellam; grandson, Steven Kellam; sisters, Olive Schnare and Francis Mahler and brothers, Maynard, Roy and Donald Kellam.
Funeral services will be held 11am Thursday, July 12, at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena. Friends may call at the funeral home prior to the service starting at 10am.
Contributions in memory of Everett may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205. The family wishes to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital who made Everett comfortable and peaceful in his final days.

KAROLINE KLEINMAN
Karoline Kleinman, formerly of Monticello, New York, passed away on July 9, 2007 after a long illness in the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center in Albany, New York.
Karoline was born on May 10, 1924 in the Bronx, the daughter of Oscar and Tillie Sussman Smith.
Karoline attended Evander Childs High School in New York City; she attended Sullivan County Community College and graduated from the State University at New Paltz. She worked for Sullivan County Social Services until her retirement.
She was an animal lover, did volunteer work with the Sullivan County SPCA and loved to travel and spent at least two weeks every year traveling in Europe, Israel or the Mediterranean.
She is survived by her daughter, Anita and her husband, James Orsino of Greenville, New York, and her son, Gary Kleinman and his wife, Lucille of Clinton Township, Michigan; her four grandchildren: James Orsino, Jr., (Nicole), Shoshana, Miriam and Josef Kleinman; her two great-grandchildren, Emma and Ethan Orsino and three nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Albert on July 23, 2003; her brother, Joseph Smith, and her sister, Eleanor Sandler.
Karoline’s family would like to thank the entire staff of the Blue Unit at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center for the wonderful care they gave her during her long illness.
Graveside services were held on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 in the Workman Circle #610 Cemetery, Monticello.

RANDY CURLESS
Randy Curless, 30, of Earlton, New York, passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital on July 4, 2007. A big “Teddy Bear” he was a friend to all he met and will be missed.
Surviving are his mother, Linda Curless-Maurer; his siblings, Tonya, Anthony, Robert and David Dingman, Joey Merrit, Christopher Maurer and Jennifer Cline; his step-fathers, Anthony Dingman, Sr. and George Maurer; sister-in-law Jennifer Maurer; his nieces, Isis Dingman and Chloe Maurer; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Predeceased by his grandparents, Eugene and Irene (Busch) Curless, Sr.
Graveside service was Monday at the Rensselaerville Cemetery, Rensselaerville, New York.
Arrangements were by the Cunningham Funeral Home, Greenville, New York.

MICHAEL J. MCGLYNN
Greenville – Michael J. McGlynn (79) of Greenville, NY passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, NY on July 12, 2007. He was born in Ireland on October 28, 1927 son of the late Patrick and Bridget (Mitchell) McGlynn. Mike was retired from the NYCTA having been a bus driver. He served his country in the US Army, (joining the Army in less then a years after he immigrated from Ireland). A family man, loving his grandchildren, children, step-children and a friend to all he met. He will be dearly missed by all. An avid New York Met Fan he also loved playing golf and cards (the Irish 25). He also could be found calling the bingo numbers for the Knights of Columbus. He was also very active in the Greenville Vol. Fire Co. (Fire Police), the Greenville American Legion #291, Knights of Columbus – Our Lady of Knock Shrine Council #6439, and the Michael J. Quill Irish Cultural and Sports Center.
Surviving are his wife Mary (Mullen) McGlynn, four sons, Brian, Thomas, Michael and John McGlynn, one daughter Anne McGlynn, four step-daughters, Eileen Coghlan, Ann Tuohym Nary and Nora Lally, three step-sons, Joseph, James and Kevin Tuohy, also 27 grandchildren, a brother Patrick McGlynn and two sisters Bridget and Margaret McGlynn. He was predeceased by his first wife Bridget (McInerney) McGlynn and a step-son Michael Tuohy.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday 11am at St. John the Baptist Church in Greenville, NY. Friends were invited to call at Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR81, Greenville, NY on Saturday, 4 to 8pm and Sunday 2 to 7pm Interment followed in the Greenville Cemetery. CHARLES (HAMMERHEAD) MCDERMOTT, SR.
Westerlo – Charles (Hammerhead) McDermott, Sr., 78 years, of Westerlo, NU passed away at his home on July 17, 2007. He was born in Knox, NY on June 18, 1929, son of the late Charles and Ethel (Gibbs) McDermott. Charlie, fondly known as “Hammerhead”, owned McDermott’s Garage in Westerlo, NY. He loved Stock Car Racing, he drove car #98 in many Ice Races. He enjoyed many activities, hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycles and snowmobiling. Charlie was a member of he Helderberg Riders Motorcycle Club and the NorthWind Snowmobile Club. He loved his family and especially his grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother Harold McDermott and a sister Mildred Storm.
Surviving are his wife Joan (Slingerland) McDermott, sons; Dennis McDermott and his wife Phyllis, Charles McDermott, Jr., and his wife Terri, and Kevin McDermott and his wife Kelli and a daughter; Connie Arnold and her husband Ron, seven grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and his Best Friend “Princess.”
As to his wishes he was cremated and a Graveside Service was held 7pm Friday at the Westerlo Rural cemetery in Westerlo, NY under the direction of the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR81, Greenville, NY 12083.

BETTY BARNETT
Betty Barnett, 80, of South Westerlo, New York, formerly of Rushville, Indiana, passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, New York on July 23, 2007. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on August 28, 1926, daughter of the late Lunsford and Gertrude (Haehl) Bullock.
Betty had helped her husband Robert run the family business, Hoosier Dairy Products, located in Wesville, Indiana. She was a member of the D.A.R., the P.E.O., Greenville U.M. Church and the United Methodist Women. Known as one who was always “on the go” she was always making crafts, sewing, loved doing crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles, loved to bake and was an avid reader. She loved the companionship and the sense of helping others while working at the Elliott House Thrift Shop in Norton Hill, New York.
Surviving are her husband, Robert Barnett; three daughters, Jane Scrafford (William) of South Westerlo, New York, Dean Ann Fowler (Stephen) of Brookfield, Connecticut, Martha Hodges (Douglas) of Manchester, Tennessee; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Thorpe of Rushville, Indiana.
Funeral service will be Thursday, 1pm at the Greenville-Norton Hill U.M. Church in Norton Hill, New York. Friends called at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR81, Greenville, New York on Wednesday, from 6 to 8pm. Cremation will be at the Albany Rural Cemetery with interment in Rose Hill Cemetery in Rushville, Indiana. Those who desire may contribute in her memory to the Greenville-Norton Hill U.M. Church Building Fund.

JOSEPH HANUSIK
Catskill – Joseph “Joe” Hanusik, 77, died Saturday, July 21, 2007, surrounded by his family at his Catskill home.
Born November 14, 1929 in Yonkers, he was one of six children of the late John Hanusik Sr. and Josephine Miskuf Hanusik.
When he was 2 years old, his family moved to Freehold where he worked on the family farm and graduated from Greenville High School in 1947.
He enlisted in the US Army in 1951 where he completed a Special Intelligence Course and was subsequently transferred to the Army Reserve in 1953 and honorably discharged in 1956. While in the Army, he traveled the United States, seeing 22 states.
In 1956 he married Shirley E. Dimmick, who survives him.
Mr. Hanusik was employed by Peckham Materials for 40 years until his retirement.
He retired this past June from the Catskill Town Board where he served as a councilman for 22 years and committeeman for many years.
Mr. Hanusik was past commander and member of the American Legion Honeyford Memorial Post 110 in Catskill for 50 years, a member of the Catskill Elk’s Republican Club.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include three daughters, Darlene Hanusik and partner Susan Schoen of Catskill, Valerie Morningstar of New Mexico and Sherri Hanusik-Lenney of New Baltimore; a sister, Florence Hanusik of Florida; a granddaughter, Kelsey Mae of New Baltimore; and three nephews and their wives, Ray and Harriet Hanusik, Dana and Adrianne Hanusik and John and Joanne Hanusik.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Emil Hanusik and John Hanusik, Jr.; and two sisters, Anne Sivco and Mary Kostesky.
Calling hours were 4 to 8pm Tuesday and Wednesday at Traver and McCurry Funeral Home, 234 Jefferson Heights, Catskill.
Funeral services were held 11am Thursday at the funeral home.
Interment with full military honors followed in the Town of Catskill Cemetery.

HERBERT HENTSCHELL, JR.
Hannacroix, NY – Herbert Hentschell, Jr., of Hannacroix, NY passed away at the DVA Medical Center in Albany, NY on July 15, 2007. “Unk” as he was fondly known by all was born in New York City on December 6, 1933 son of the late Herbert and Berta (Bussett) Hentschell, Sr. He had worked at Albright’s Garage and the Ravena Central School as a mechanic and later operated heavy equipment in his own business. Herbert had served his country in the US Army from 1953 to 1955. A “Jack of all Trades” “Unk” could fix just about anything that he was asked to. A friend to all he will be missed by his family and friends.
Surviving are his sister Anita Pforte, a nephew Albert “Woody” Pforte, a great niece Natasha, great nephews Zachary, Max and Dustin and a special great nephew Kevin.
As to his wishes he has been cremated and will be interred at the Saratoga National Cemetery.
