Richard F. Lannon, Jr.
Richard F. Lannon, Jr. 76 years, of Preston Hollow, New York passed away at the Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, New York on June 29, 2003. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on October 9, 1926 son of the late Richard F. and Henrietta (White) Lannon, Sr. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy serving on several different vessels and he was awarded the Philippine Liberation Medal, the American Area Medal, the Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Upon his discharge he was a Gunner’s mate, Second Class. Richard was a retired New York City Patrolman, retiring in 1979. He was a member of Post #7229 V. F. W. and the Greenville American Legion Post #291.
Surviving his wife of 56 years,
Regina (Cardillo) Lannon, a daughter Linda Bertinettie and her husband Joseph of
Rockville Centre, New York, two grandchildren, Christopher Bertinetti and his
fiancé Megan of New York , Jeffrey Bertinetti of Rockville Centre, New York, a
brother Daniel Lannon and his wife Margaret Lannon and several nieces and
nephews. He was pre-deceased by a brother James Lannon.
Funeral service was at Cunningham Funeral Home in Greenville with a Mass of Christian Burial from St. John the Baptist Church, also in Greenville. Interment is at the Potter Hollow Cemetery.

Ethel May (nee Barber)
Baitsholts-Konrad “Rusty”
Ethel May “Rusty” (nee Barber) Baitsholts-Konrad, 65 years, of Greenville, New York passed away on June 25, 2003 while a patient at Albany Medical Center after a long battle with Diabetes and heart problems. Ethel was born on June 18, 1938 in Schenectady, New York daughter of the late Clara Lydia (nee Baldwin) and Ralph G. Barber. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, as well as crocheting, baking and doing puzzles.
Surviving is her long-time companion Ludwig (Lou) Rudolph Konrad, her six children, Ronald L. Baitsholts, Lucy Ann Pough-Bender, Ralph D. Baitsholts, Raymond J. Baitsholts, Lisa J. Jordan and David J. Baitsholts, Jr., 15 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Steven of Maryland and George of Ohio also numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
A funeral service was held at the Cunningham Funeral Home in Greenville and Interment was at the Westerlo Central Cemetery, Southern Westerlo, New York. Those who desire may contribute in her memory to the Town of Westerlo Ambulance or to the Kidney Foundation.

Dorothy R. Griffin
Dorothy R. Griddin, 95 years, of the Pavilion in Catskill, New York formerly of Preston Hollow and East Durham, New York passed away at the Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, New York on July 6, 2003. She was born in New York City on July 13, 1907 daughter of the late Robert and Jennie (Foster) Mitten. She was a retired Telephone Operator having worked for the Veterans Administration in the Bronx. Her husband Patrick J. Griffin predeceased her.
Surviving are nieces and nephews and dear friend Valerie McLean of East Durham, New York. She was also predeceased by a brother Harry Mitten.
Funeral service were held at Cunningham Funeral Home in Greenville with a Mass of Christian Burial from St. John the Baptist Church. Interment is Oak Hill Cemetery.

David A. Keller
David, A. Keller, 75 years, of Greenville, New York, passed away suddenly on July 1, 2003. He was born in Towaco, New Jersey on August 2, 1927 son of the late Karl and Irene Keller. David served his country in the United State Marine Corps and was discharged as a Corporal. He was a merchant Marine and had his single engine pilots license. He was also a member of the Greenville American Legion Post #291 and the Norton Hill Wildlife Club.
Surviving is a niece Karen Burns of Fairlawn, New Jersey and several special friends in the Greenville area. His brother Emil Keller pre-deceased him last year.
The Greenville American Legion Post #291 conducted a service at the Cunningham Funeral Home in Greenville, which was followed, by a funeral service.

Myrtle A. Parks
Myrtle A. Parks, 84 years, of Greenville, New York formerly of Cornwallville, New York, passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, New York on June 29, 2003. She was born in Cornwallville, New York on December 4, 1918 daughter of the late Ralph and Viola (Latta) Moore. A life long homemaker she had helped her husband of 65 years on their farm and in his business. Her husband Nelson passed away on November 11, 2000. She was a long time member of the Greenville-Norton Hill United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Norman Parks of Guilderland, New York, John Parks of Greenville, New York, three daughters, Marilyn Bason of Smyrna, Delaware, Janet Moss of Manning, South Carolina and Lois Tully of Sumner Washington, also 13 grandchildren, a sister Edna Hamm of Catskill, New York and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Almon and Warren Moore.
Funeral service was held from the Greenville-Norton Hill United Methodist Church in Norton Hill arranged by the Cunningham Funeral Home, in Greenville. Those who desire may contribute in her memory to the Greenville-Norton Hill United Methodist Church Building Fund.

John J. Feeney
John J. Feeney, 76 years, of Cairo, New York formerly of Elmhurst, New York, passed away at the Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, New York on July 11, 2003. He was born in New York City on August 19, 1926, son of the late James and Mary Kate (McCartin) Feeney (both born in County Leitrim, Ireland).
John was a retired dispatcher having retired from MABSTOA on Long Island. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Queens and the Michael J. Quill Irish Cultural & Sports Centre.
Surviving are his wife Mary (McHugh) Feeney; his children, Mary Jeanne Cashell and her husband Vincent, Debbie Doohan and her husband Peter, Karen Cashell, Sean Feeney and his wife Mary; his grandchildren, Brian, Tara, Tarccy, Kelly and Deirdre Doohan, John, Christine and Nina Cashell, Sean, Erin, Katie and Mairead Feeney; a sister, Kay Schwab and her husband George; also several nieces and nephews, and his beloved pet and constant companion, “Connie.” He was predeceased by a brother, Junior Feeney, and a son-in-law, Joseph Cashell.
Funeral service was Monday from the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR 81, Greenville, with a Mass of Christian Burial from Our Lady of Knock Shire, East Durham. Interment was in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Catskill, New York.

Genevieve E. Hillicoss
Genevieve E. Hillicoss, 69 years, of Preston Hollow, New York, passed away at her home on Cheese Hill on July 12, 2003 after a long illness. She was born in Roxbury, New York on March 28, 1934, daughter of the late Harry and Florence (Dent) Partridge. She had driven school buses for the Middleburg and Greenville Central School District. She was a member of the Preston Hollow Baptist Church and a former member of the Tri-Village Vol. Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and the Town of Rensselaerville Rescue Squad.
Surviving are her husband Edward Hillicoss Jr.; two sons, Donald Hillicoss and his wife Trina, Lee Hillicoss and his wife Pat; a daughter Sherri Pine and her husband Jeffery, all of Preston Hollow; also eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother Donald Partridge of Crossville, Tennessee; a sister, Juanita Slater of St. Johnsville, New York; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two children, Edward Hillicoss III and Genevieve Hillicoss.
Funeral service was Tuesday from the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR 81, Greenville. Interment was in the Potter Hollow Cemetery.

Gladys Cornell
Gladys E. Cornell, 94, of Westerlo, New York, died Monday, July 14 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn in Albany, New York. Mrs. Cornell was born on June 30, 1909 in the Helderbergs, in the town of Berne, the daughter of the late Frank and Bessie Haines Campbell. At a young age her parents passed away leaving four children: Ernest, Gordon, Grace and Gladys. Both Ernest and Gladys lived with their Aunt Jennie and Uncle Oscar Mabie on what is now the Campbell Farm on Route 401 in South Westerlo. Gordon was adopted by the Clancey Braymans and Grace by the Frank Days. All of Gladys’ sibling are now deceased as well as her husband, Edward T. Cornell and a niece, Erma Campbell Pettit. Her survivors include her five nieces, Dawn Frees of Monroe, New York, Helen Ingalls of Freehold, New York, Loretta Langdon of South Westerlo, New York, Rita Flach of Athens, New York, and Barbara Schoonmaker of Voorheesville, New York; two cousins, Harold Sturgess of Hobart, New York, and Beulah Hinkle of Slingerlands, New York; 21 great-nieces and nephews and 38 great-great nieces and nephews.
She was one of four students who graduated from the Greenville Free Academy in 1927. She taught school in a one-room schoolhouse located above Preston Hollow for two years immediately after her high school graduation when she obtained a temporary certification to teach. She also attended Oneonta summer school, Cobleskill and received her permanent teaching certification from Plattsburgh State Teacher’s College in 1935, now SUNY Plattsburgh, where she attended two years and two summers.
Gladys taught for three more years in a little country school in Thayer’s Corners, which is now a residence. Nine years of her teaching career were spent in a little school in the town of Bern called District 19 where she taught whatever grades were there. It was her they had to start the wood stove in the morning for heat, use the outside toilets, and used a pail and dipper for the drinking fountain. Only one of these students remains who lives in Tennessee, and he has always remembered her on Christmas and her birthday.
After her marriage to Edward Cornell, Gladys began working in Westerlo to teach in grade school which is part of the Berne-Knox school system. At first, she taught grades three, four and five and ended teaching grades five and six when she retired 30 years later in 1974. Gladys saw the need for a preschool and was instrumental in starting The Stepping Stones Preschool, housed in the Westerlo Baptist Church and gave another 20 years of teaching, shaping lives, loving and sharing God with many little folks. She had no children of her own, but claims, “every child is one of mine that ever passed my way. They were all special.” Gladys was a well-loved Girl Scout leader for many years, also, since she thoroughly enjoyed working with young people.
Gladys, was a dedicated Greenville Local correspondent for 20 years. She also wrote for the Altamont Enterprise at the same time about local events happening in the Westerlo area. She was an active and devoted member of The First Baptist Church of Westerlo for many years and gave of her time each Friday to work at the Helderberg Senior Center for 20 years.
She was a constant source of love, support and generosity of her immediate family and church family as well as many others she came in contact with. He life certainly has been an inspiration to all-young and old—and couldn’t be summed up any better than the Scripture verse: “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
Funeral service will be Thursday, 7:30 p.m. from the First Baptist Church of Westerlo in Westerlo, New York. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:30 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be Friday, :30 a.m. in the Westerlo Rural Cemetery. Those who desire may contribute in her memory u to the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital, the Capital City Rescue Missions in Albany, New York or to the missions Program of the First Baptist Church of Westerlo.

Mariam L. Lawyer
Mariam L. Lawyer, 86, of West
Palm Beach, Florida, formerly of Norton Hill, passed away on July 5, 2003 in
Florida. She was a homemaker and when in East Durham helped run the Lawyer Store
for many years.
Mrs. Lawyer is survived by a son, Curtis Lawyer of Florida, and a daughter, Sheryl Lawyer Zach of Florida; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Surviving is a sister, Eloise Lampman VanHecke of Greenville. She was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Reynolds of Durham.
