ALEXANDRO ORTIZ
SELKIRK---Alexander Ortiz, 76, entered into heaven on January
25, 2006.
Al was born in Puerto Rico on February 27, 1929, moved to New
York at the age of 10 and, at the age of 18, Al moved to Blenheim where he met
and married his wife, Betty, on November 18, 1948. Al and Betty moved to
Selkirk, where he started his landscaping business, which he did most of his
life. Al will always be remembered, loved, and missed dearly.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Betty Warner Ortiz of
Selkirk; children, Alexandro (Diana) Ortiz, Jr. of Hannacroix, Michael (Maryann)
Ortiz of Selkirk, Juanita Ortiz of Selkirk, Lynda (Keith) Geraldsen of Ravena
and Michelle (Scott) Sweet of Selkirk; grandchildren, Joey, Vanessa, Katie,
Brenda, Tanya, Donita, Theresa, Chrissy, Bryan, Angie, Alex, Ashley, Keith,
Krystal, Kailyn, Elissa, and Christopher; and several great-grandchildren. Al
was predeceased by his children, Christopher and Kathy, and his grandson, Deven
Sweet.
Relatives and friends may call at the Babcock Funeral Home,
Ravena on Sunday, January 29 from 3 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held 9:30
a.m. Monday at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Delmar. Burial will follow in
Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. Flowers are welcome.

EVELYN A. LINDSKOOG
ALBANY---Evelyn A. Lindskoog, 93, formerly of Coeymans Hollow,
died peacefully Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at the Teresian House in Albany.
Born in Oneida County, she came to the Capital District in the
early 1930’s. Evelyn worked as a receptionist at the former Albany Hardware
& Iron Company, and at Henzel Powers Electric, retiring 30 years ago. She
lived in Coeymans Hollow for over 25 years, in Latham for 10 years and in Albany
for the last four years. Evelyn was a member of Dormansville United Methodist
Church and the Order of the Pocahontas.
Wife of the late Olaf F. Lindskoog, who died April 25, 1993;
mother of Donald L. Smith and his wife, Mary of Albany, and the late Shirley E.
Biance; sister of Alma Wilfeard of Sodus, NY and Rita Weston of Rochester, NY;
also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Private cremation has taken place. Spring burial will be in
Chestnut Lawn Cemetery, New Baltimore.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Teresian House,
200 Washington Avenue Ext., Albany, NY 12203
will be appreciated.

FRANCIS E. BARLOW
Francis E. Barlow, 83 years, passed away suddenly on January
28, 2006. He was born in Cairo, New York on July 20, 1922, son of the late Frank
and Anna (Snyder) Barlow. Francis served his country during WWII in the US Army
serving in Central Europe and the Rhineland. He received the Good Conduct Medal,
World War II Victory Medal, the American Campaign Medal, Army of Occupation
Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal.
He was employed as an electronics technician with Sperry-Rand
in Lake Success, New York prior to his retirement. Francis loved to bowl and was
a member of several seniors groups. He was a kind, loving and generous man and
will be greatly missed.
Francis was predeceased in 1999 by his beloved wife of over 50
years, Armilde (Arro) Barlow, a brother, Albert Barlow, and a sister, Pearl S.
Booth.
Surviving are his son, Edgar Barlow and his wife, Juana, of
Lake Ronkonkoma, New York; his daughter, Vaika “Vicky” Poole of Climax, New
York; six grandchildren, Edward Barlow, Susan Brusp, Brian Poole, Robert Poole,
Richard Poole, and Valerie Bernabo Poole and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was Wednesday, Feb 1 at 8 p.m. at the
Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR 81, Greenville, New York. Friends called at the
funeral home prior to the service from 5 to 8 p.m. Interment was in the Freehold
Cemetery.

JOHN W. VAN WAGENEN, JR.
John W. Van Wagenen, Jr., 32 years, of Maybrook, NY (formerly
of Greenville, NY) passed away on Jan. 30, 2006 at the Westchester Medical
Center in Valhalla, NY, a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle
accident in December of 2005. He
was born in Goshen, NY on June 7, 1973; son of Linda (Thorp) Van Wagenen, Sr.
John was a graduate of GCS, Class of 1993. He was employed as a Corrections
Officer with the NYS Dept. of Corrections at Fishkill, NY. John was an avid
sports fan, he loved NASCAR racing, shooting pool in his pool league, football
and baseball. He also liked hunting. John loved his family and enjoyed all the
family gatherings throughout the years. Besides his father, John was predeceased
by his paternal grandparents, Chauncey and Lunda Van Wagenen and two aunts,
Shirley Manning and Bessie Van Wagenen.
Surviving are his mother, Linda Van Wagenen; his sister,
Janine Snyder and her husband, John; his brother, Mark Van Wagenen and his
partner, Carolyn Perez; three nieces, Suzanne and Stephanie Snyder and Deanna
Van Wagenen, all of Greenville, NY; maternal grandparents, Calvin and Margaret
Thorp of Maybrook, NY; his uncle, Paul Thorp (Tina) of Sacketts Harbor, NY; his
aunt, Kim Jordan (Randy) of Maybrook, NY; his aunt, Ginny Medley (Robert) of
Walden, NY; his uncles, John Manning of Walden, NY, Beldon Van Wagenen (Barbara)
of Middletown, NY and Neil Van Wagenen (Bonnie) of Gardner, NY. Also surviving
are a great-uncle, Samuel Del Santo (Ruth) of Montgomery, a great-aunt, Rosanne
Kearney (James) of Maybrook, NY, his godson, Trevor Lawrence and many cousins
and dear friends.
Funeral service will be on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006 at 9:30 a.m.

Assumption in Maybrook, NY. Friends may call at the Cunningham Funeral Home,

John will be laid to rest beside his father in the Walkill
Valley Cemetery.

ALICE M. FERRIOLO
GREENVILLE---Alice M. Ferriolo, age 76, resident of Greenville since 1958 died peacefully Saturday, January 28, 2006 surrounded by her loving family. Born in the Bronx, NY, November 14, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Alice (Cullen) Hopkins.
Mrs. Ferriolo was an actuary for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in Manhattan, NY, and after moving to Greenville, she was a secretary for the Greenville Central School District, and later worked at Pine Lake Manor in Greenville.
She was the loving wife of Richard Ferriolo, cherished mother of Thomas Ferriolo of Dunedin, Florida, and Tracy and her husband, Bradley Boomhower of Greenville. She was adored by her grandchildren, Bradley and Elizabeth Boomhower.
She was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Hopkins, and
sister, Nora Hopkins.
Calling hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, January 31,
2006 at the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, Inc., 4898 S.R. 81, Greenville, NY.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 1,
2006 at St. John the Baptist Church 5070 S.R. 81, Greenville, NY. Interment will
follow in Greenville Cemetery, Greenville, NY. Relatives and friends are
respectfully invited to attend.
The family suggests memorial donations in Alice’s name be

GERALDINE V. BLEAU
Geraldine V. Jones Bleau, 51, formerly a Ravena resident, died
Tuesday, January 31, 2006 after a prolonged illness. She attended Greenville
schools and graduated from Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School.
Survivors include her beloved daughter, Mary Elizabeth Bleau
of Cossayuna Lake, NY; sisters Marie Murevay and Rose Hunter; and brother Kenny
Jones.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 3rd at
the First Reformed Church of Bethlehem, Selkirk. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery,
Selkirk. Services were under the direction of the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena.

RAYMOND L. JONES
Raymond L. Jones, 77, of Coeymans Hollow, passed from this
life to eternal life on Monday, February 6, 2006 at Kingston Hospital after a
long illness.
Born on October 5, 1928 in Albany, he was the son of the late
Frederick W. and Alma Jane Morse Jones. Ray was raised in Vermont and came to
Coeymans Hollow after his Army service. He was employed as an operating engineer
and retired from Callanan Industries in South Bethlehem. Ray played country
music for many years in round and square dance bands. He was a bowler and
enjoyed playing golf. Ray was an active member of American Legion Post 291 in
Greenville. He loved being with his family, and described himself as “the
richest man in the world who has no money.”
Ray is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Mary Ann
O’Neill Jones; his children, Donna (Bill) Slingerland of Virginia Beach,
Virginia, Gary (Peggy) Jones of Ravena, Linda (Monte) Klob of Greenville, Dennis
(Georgina) Jones of Hannacroix, Sue (Dan) Flannery of Greenville, Shari (Ben)
Underwood of Freehold, and Michael (Sheila) Jones of South Bethlehem; 20
grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mae (Don) Duncan of
Voorheesville; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours were held at the Babcock Funeral Home, Inc., 19
Pulver Avenue, Ravena, on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St.
Patrick’s Church, Ravena, with Rev. James D. O’Neill, Ray’s
brother-in-law, officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Patrick’s
Mausoleum.
Memorial contributions to American Legion Post 291, Maple
Avenue, Greenville, NY 12083, will be appreciated.

MARION BLANCHE EMMA (HOOVER) BIEGEL
Marion Blanche Emma (Hoover) Biegel passed away February 2,
2006, following a long illness at the Pavillion in Catskill, NY, where she
resided with her beloved husband, Richard Roth Biegel, Sr. The couple had been
residents of Ashland for almost sixty years. She was born to James Marion Hoover
and Minnie Eloise (Decker) Hoover in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, June 22, 1918. In
addition to her husband, Richard, she is survived by her loving children;
daughter-in-law Joyce Trudell, Greenville, NY; daughter Barbara and husband,
Gary Slutzky, Hunter, NY; daughter Roberta and husband, Dennis Shea, Cambridge,
MA; son-in-law, Blaine Partridge, Ashland, NY; daughter Marion and husband,
Frederick Quenzer, Red Hook, NY; son Richard Biegel, Jr., Prescott Valley, AZ
daughter Margaret and husband Mike Bush, Lexington, NY; daughter Kathryn Swann,
Castleton, NY; daughter Elizabeth and husband Robert Chura, Windham, NY; and
daughter Jennifer and husband Robert Scaboo, Prescott Valley, AZ. Additionally,
Marion is survived by sons-in-law Tom Hotaling of Castleton, NY and Charles
Montalbano of Prescott Valley, AZ; one brother, Clarence Hoover of Granite
Canyon, WY and sisters; Dorothy Nelson, Almond, WI; Diana Koklas, Greenfield,
WI; Ilene Crisp, Milwaukee, WI; and Delores Walls of Glendale, AZ. Marion is
also survived by a sister-in-law, Mabel Robinson of Olean, New York. Marion was
predeceased by children, Edward Tudell, Greenville, NY; and Fern Partridge,
Ashland, NY; sister, Roberta Moran, and brother James Hoover of Milwaukee, WI.
Marion, a loving wife, mother and devoted homemaker for over
sixty years, will be deeply missed by family, which includes twenty-seven
grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, in addition to many nieces,
nephews, cousins and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the
Ashland Rescue Squad, Ashland, NY.
Visiting hours were Monday, Feb. 6 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at
the Decker Funeral Home, Main Street, Windham, NY. The Funeral Services were
held at the Decker Funeral Home, Tuesday, Feb. 7, at 11 a.m., followed by
interment at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Ashland, NY.

DARLENE (PALMER) STICKEL
Darlene (Palmer) Stickel, 63 years of Greenville, NY passed
away at her home on Feb. 1, 2006. She was born in Catskill, NY on Oct. 31, 1942,
daughter of the late Sheldon and Allie )Parks) Palmer. Darlene worked at the VA
Medical Center in Albany, NY dedicating 35 years to counseling and supporting
troubled veterans. Upon retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her
grandchildren and dog. Darlene loved helping others and making a difference in
their lives. She will be greatly missed and loved by all that she touched.
A devoted mother to Frank Zibura and his wife, Denise, Lisa
Koehler and her husband, Todd, Bryan Zibura and his wife, Amy, beloved
grandmother to Lauren,. Zachary,. And Cody Zibura,. Erich and Katie Koehler,
loving sister to Doug Palmer. Also surviving are Uncle Walter and Aunt Margie
Parks of Akron, NY and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased
by her son, Scott Zibura and a brother, Dale Palmer.
A memorial service will be held Sat. Feb. 11 at 12 noon at the
Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR 81, Greenville, NY. Friends may call at the
funeral home from 10 to 12 noon, prior to the service.

MARIA ANNA KOBERTZ (MITZI)
Maria Anna Kobertz (Mitzi), 86, passed away peacefully at home
after a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, February 9, 2006, in
Jacksonville, Florida, with her loving family by her side. Maria was born
October 18, 1919, in Pottendorf, Austria. She moved to New York from Germany
with her family in 1951 and lived 34 years in the Greenville area until she
moved to Jacksonville, Florida, with her daughter three years ago. Maria was
predeceased in death by her husband, Josef Franz Kobertz.
A devoted homemaker, Maria enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening,
sewing, dancing and spending time with her family. She was an avid reader and
loved following politics. She
treasured her frequent visits to family and friends in Germany and Austria.
While living in Greenville, she was a member of the German Social Club and prior
to that the German Singing Group in New York City where she performed many
concerts including a performance in Washington, D.C.
A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend,
she leaves to cherish her memory three children; Franz Josef Kobertz of Canal
Winchester, Ohio, Annamaria O’Connell and her husband, Daniel, of Brookville,
Long Island, Leona Catalano and her husband, David, of Jacksonville, Florida;
grandchildren William and Frank Kobertz, Daniel O’Connell, Alexandra Catalano;
great-grandchildren, Dylan Kobertz and Qwynn Kobertz, and a host of extended
family members and friends.
The family visitation to greet friends will be held on Friday,
February 17, 4-8 p.m. and Saturday, February 18, 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to church
services at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville, New
York. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 18,
2006, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Maria’s interment will follow
her funeral service with a processional to the Greenville Cemetery.

EMILY LUSK MOORE
LIVERPOOL, NY---Emily Lusk Moore of Liverpool, New York, passed away at the Francis House in Syracuse, New York, on February 16, 2006. Emily graduated from Coeymans High School in 1935. She went to work as a secretary for Ed Uthe for 28 years. She worked at Blue Circle Cement Company for 15 years. She lived most of her life in Coeymans, 11 years at Sleepy Hollow Lake in Coxsackie and the last 6 years in Liverpool, New York. Survivors are her husband, Bill for 56 years, 7 nieces and nephews, 15 great nieces and nephews and 2 great nieces and nephews. Calling hours were at Sears Middleton & Jones Funeral Home from 12 to 2 p.m. at 209 North Main Street, North Syracuse on February 18, 2006 and burial is at North Syracuse Cemetery.

RALPH E. RULAND
Ralph E. Ruland, 83 years, of West Coxsackie, New York, passed
away on February 18, 2006 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, New York. He was
born in Sunside, New York on May 7, 1922, son of the late Ralph A. and Martha
(Andrus) Ruland. Ralph served his country during WWII in the US Coast Guard.
Prior to his retirement Ralph was an equipment operator for
the Town of Durham and an artificial inseminator with the NY Artificial Breeders
and was a constable in the Town of Durham. He was a member of the Durham Valley
American Legion Post No. 1416, East Durham Vol. Fire Co. and Cascade Lodge in
Oak Hill, New York. Ralph was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Besides his parents, Ralph was predeceased by a sister, Beatrice Stewart.
Surviving are his wife, Gertrude (Osborne) Ruland of West
Coxsackie, New York; a son, Ralph R. Ruland, III and his wife, Candace, of
Greenville, New York; a daughter, Lynn Passaretti and her husband, Joseph, of
Hannacroix, New York; four grandchildren, Travis Ruland and his wife, Jennifer,
Heather Ruland, Jami Passaretti and her significant other, George Babcock
and Casi Passaretti and her significant other, Sam Stanley; a great-grandson,
Dylan Babcock; and three sisters, Marion Jamieson and Lura McCarthy, both of
Troy, New York and Vivian Simpson of Sunside, New York and several nieces and
nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 4, at 11
a.m. at the Christ Episcopal Church in Greenville, New
York.

PETER J. TUMMINELLO, SR.
Peter J. Tumminello, Sr., 85 years, of Westerlo, New York
(formerly of Rensselaerville, New York), passed away on February 16, 2006 at the
Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York. He was born April 10, 1920 in
Brooklyn, New York, son of the late Joseph and Marie (Ciaccone) Tumminello.
Peter served his country during WWII in the US Army serving in
the European Theater and was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds suffered at Anzio,
Italy. He was employed as a sanitation worker with the NYC Department of
Sanitation for 25 years, until his retirement. Peter also ran a Flea Market at
the Fox Creek Antique and Auction Center for many years. He was a member of the
VFW on Long Island prior to moving upstate. Peter was predeceased by several
sisters and brothers.
Surviving are his wife, Florence T. Tumminello of Westerlo,
New York; two daughters, Marianne and Tara Tumminello, both of Westerlo; two
sons, Peter J. Tumminello, Jr., of Rensselaerville, New York and Charles
Tumminello and his wife, Joan, of Delmar, New York; two granddaughters, Noelle
and Gina Tumminello, both of Delmar, New York; and a sister, Mary DaVanzo of
Flushing, New York.
Funeral service was Monday, February 20, at St. John the
Baptist Church in Greenville, New York. Friends called at the Cunningham Funeral
Home, Greenville, on Sunday.
Spring interment will be in the Middleburgh Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
