JAMES PETER DANNER, SR., “JIMMY D”
Greenville – James Peter Danner, Sr., “Jimmy D.” 53 years of Greenville, NY passed away suddenly on May 27. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 25, 1953, son of the late James L. and Veronica (Byrne) Danner. His parents died when he was very young. Not graduating from high school he had risen against the odds and became a successful business man. He created and operated the largest Tow Truck Company in Brooklyn. He sold the business and moved to Greenville with his wife and two sons. Here again creating a successful Transporting Business. At a young age he built his dream life. He was a long time member of the Greenville Col. Fire Co. He was a Black Belt in Martial Arts. He loved his race car buddies and Texas Holdem was a hobby he enjoyed. He loved life, played hard and lived it to the fullest. Those who knew him well knew of his big heart and brave soul. His joy was his wife and sons. They will forever be thankful and thankful to have had such an amazing human being in their lives. “Jimmy D” will always live on in them.
Surviving are his wife Debra (Malone) Danner, his two sons, James P. Danner, Jr., John M. Danner and a brother Daniel Danner.

PHILIP J. STEELE
Greenville – Philip J. Steele, 71, of Greenville, NY passed away at his home on May 22, 2007. He was born in Miami, FL on Feb. 15, 1936, son of the late Oscar and Angela (Tristano) Steele. Philip was educated at the Julliard School of Music in NYC where he studied voice. He performed with the New York City Opera Co. and various opera companies throughout the country. He performed on Broadway in the “Phantom of the Opera” for several years. He also was a private teacher of voice in Teaneck, NJ for several years. Serving in the US Army he participated in the Nevada Atom Bomb testing program and was honored as the base soldier of the Month on two occasions.
He is survived by his brother James Steele of Union, CT, a sister Angela Steele of Brooklyn, two nieces, Dina Wilson and Linda Soriero and a nephew Edmund Soriero.
Funeral service was Wed. 11 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Oak Hill, NY.
Friends were invited to call at the Cunningham Funeral Home on Tuesday 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM.
Interment will be in the Greenville Cemetery.

HARRIET MAE PECK
Westerlo – Harriet Me Peck, 77, of Westerlo, NY passed away on May 25, after a long courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was born in Dormansville on May 14, 1930 daughter of the late Theodore and Lena (Fisher) Lounsbury, she was the second eldest child of 17 children. She attended a one room school house in Dormansville (the firehouse) until Greenville Central School was built and it was from here that she graduated. She could tell you many stories of her childhood, from her grandfathers two oxen that were used to plow the fields, to riding in a horse and buggy. She would always mention that if you don’t have family, you have nothing at all. Her other concern was what the great grandchildren would be like when they grow up, because of all that time had changed and what values they would have.
She was the beloved wife, of 56 years, to Robert Peck, the beloved mother to Robert Peck, Jr., Deborah Parker (Bill), Sharon Timmis (Harry), Pamela Boehlke and Susan Davis (Joseph). A daughter Wanda Ciccone predeceased her. She was the loving grandmother to 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren all who were the “apple of her eye”, and pre-deceased by a granddaughter Dana Bushnell. She was also the beloved sister to Janice Lounsbury, Betty Jean Mueller, Sandra Ross, Patrick, John, William, Dennis and Terry Lounsbury. She was pre-deceased by two sisters, Janet Berkhofer and Marjorie White and six brothers, Theodore, Harold, Lloyd, Clyde, Thomas and Roger Lounsbury.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends because of the love that she shared with all.
Funeral service was Tuesday 12 noon at the Cunningham Funeral Home, Greenville, NY. Friends were invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 to 12 prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Onesquethaw Cemetery. Those who desire may contribute in her memory to the Dormansville U.M.Church.

KATHLEEN “KAY” GOMBAR
Kathleen “Kay” Gombar, 79 of Greenville, New York, formerly of Commack, New York, passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital on April 2, 2007. She was born in the Bronx on November 12, 1927, daughter of the late Patrick J. and Bridget (Lyons) Bourke.
Moving to Norton Hill in 1968 Kay worked at the Greene County Department of Personnel in Catskill, New York, retiring in 1989 and also worked at GCS as a teacher’s aide.
An avid bowler and golfer she bowled in the Golden Age Leagues I and II and assisted her husband Charles with the administration of the American Legion Golf League for 17 years. She was also a very active member of Greenville American Legion Post No. 291 Ladies Auxiliary. She loved reading and was a friend to all she met and will be missed by her loving family and friends.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Daniel McQuillan in 1981; a step-grandson, Brian Gombar; a sister, Beatrice Renner; and two brothers, John and Patrick Bourke.
Surviving are her loving husband of 21 glorious years, Charles Gombar; two stepsons, Charles T. Gombar (Felice) of Westchester, Pennsylvania, Robert C. Gombar (Sally) of Annapolis, Maryland; four step grandchildren, Theresa, Julia, Robert and Jennifer Gombar; two brothers, Thomas J. and Edward E. Bourke; one sister, Anne Meehan-Reilly; 21 nieces and nephews and many grand-nieces and nephews.
Service will be Thursday, 10:15am from the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR81, Greenville, New York with a Liturgy of the Word and the Rite of Farewell 11am at Our Lady of Knock Shrine in East Durham, New York. Friends called at the funeral home on Tuesday 7 to 9pm and Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Interment will be in the Greenville Cemetery. Those who desire may contribute in her memory to the Greenville American Legion Post No. 291 of to the Eddy Visiting Nurses Association, 159 Jefferson Heights, Catskill, NY 12414-9903.

PHILIP “POPPY” MACK
Greenville – Philip “Poppy” Mack, 78 years, of Greenville, NY passed away March 26, 2007 at the Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, NY. He was born in East Durham, NY on Dec. 15, 1928, son of the late Daniel and Marie (Renner) Mack. Philip was a Mechanic at Marshall’s Garage in Ravena, NY for 17 years. He loved to hunt and fish and played drums in a band, named, “The Polka Five.” He was pre-deceased by his wife; Evah (Deyo) Mack, a sister; Caroline Rusack, a brother; Fred Mack and a step-daughter Shirley Hillicoss.
Surviving are a son: Daniel Mack (Jane) of Ghent, NY, two daughters; Phyllis Morehouse of Glenmont, NY and Lina Mack of Delmar, NY, step-children; Carol (Goff) Wilsey of Latham, NY, Sidney Goff of E, Durham, NY, Sandy Goff of Albany, NY and Sharon Goff of Earlton, NY, grandsons, Jacob and Connor Mack, several step-grandchildren, a sister; Marie Michaelson of E. Durham, NY, a brother; George Mack, if Kingston, NY and several nieces and nephews.

FRANZ (FRANK) SZEMLEWSKI
Preston Hollow – Franz (frank) Szemlewski, 81 years, of Preston Hollow, NY, passed away peacefully at his home on March 25, 2007. He was born in Duisburg, Germany, on Oct. 9, 1925, son of the late Johann and Elisabeth (Starros) Szemlewski. Frank was employed as a Mechanic and Welder by Precision Value in Yonkers until his retirement in 1983. Following his retirement he and his family moved from Rockland Co to Preston Hollow where they have resided since 1983.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 43 years Erika (Ebert) Szemlewski of Preston Hollow, NY, his daughter; Maria Wood and her husband Bud of Oak Hill, NY, a granddaughter; Elizabeth Maiorano (Lenny Brennan) and family of Oak Hill, NY, a grandson; Robert B. Richter (Lily) and family of Oyster Bay, NY, two great-grandchildren; Kevin and Rosemary and a nephew; Karl Heinz Buschfield of Germany.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Frank’s life will be held at the convenience of the family in late April.

HELEN HULBERT
Helen Hulbert, 79, of Oak Hill, New York, passed away on April 10, 2007. She was born in Oak Hill on July 7, 1927, daughter of the late William and Mae (Lounsbury) Kellam Cook.
Helen lived in Oak Hill for most of her life. She was a graduate of Hartwick College of Nursing, she served in the Nurses Corp. of the Dept. of War – post World War II. She retired as night shift registered nursing supervisor of the Greene County Memorial Hospital in Catskill, New York.
Helen was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, shopping, traveling with her good friend April Rivenburg, and was the No. 1 Yankee fan.
Helen was predeceased by her husband, Llewellyn “Bud” Hulbert. Surviving are her four sons, Richard (Colleen) Hulbert, Bradley (Shirley) Hulbert, with whom she resided, Sean (Melissa) Hulbert; her two daughters, Cathy Hulbert and Cheryl (Ed) Cox; also ten grandchildren, Ian (Jocelyn) Hulbert, Erin Hulbert, Michael lee and Michelle (Adam) Hunt, Robert Hulbert, Roxanne Hulbert, Alec Hulbert, Hope Hulbert, Amanda Hulbert and Rachel Hulbert; two great-grandchildren, Miles Hulbert and Brandon Massa; a good friend, Larry Smith; and her brother Eugene Kellam.
A graveside service will be held on May 5, 11am at the Oak Hill Cemetery. As to her wishes there will be no calling hours. MARIE LANGENSTEIN
Marie Langenstein, 97, of Norton Hill, New York, passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital on April 4, 2007. She was born in Germany on February 10, 1910.
A lifelong dairy farmer, she purchased Hill Top Farm in 1945 and was predeceased by her first husband Peter Mosksimov in 1959. A lover of all animals she also enjoyed planting and taking care of her flower garden. A hardworking dairy farmer, she will be missed by her friends and extended family.
Surviving are her husband Cherubin “Joe” Langenstein; her nieces and nephews, Irmgard Quinn (Vincent) of Seaford, New York, Elizabeth McCarthy (John) of Vashon, Washington, Frank Kohlroser (Alicia) of Astoria, New York, Susan DeThomas (Alfred) of Cairo, New York, Rudolph Kohlroser (Mary) of West Islip, New York, Linda Peltier (Richard) of Setauket, New York, Lillian York (Gary) of Lynbrook, New York; 13 great nieces and nephews; 22 great-great nieces and nephews; and her dear friends Ralph and Rosemary Sivillo, Kelly Albers, Janice Sivillo and Dorothy Austin. She was predeceased by an infant sister, Irmgard and three brothers, Joseph Mayr, Franz and Rudolf Kohlroser.
Service was Saturday, April 7, at the Cunningham Funeral Home, Greenville, New York. Friends called at the funeral home on Saturday prior to the service.

CAROL SIEBERT
Carol Siebert, 83, of Durham, New York, passed away at the Kaaterskill Care HC Center in Catskill, New York on March 29, 2007. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 27, 1924, daughter of the late Harry and Carol (Billhardt) Bachman.
Carol was a former secretary working in Brooklyn until she retired and became a homemaker, a loving wife and a great friend to many. She liked to go sightseeing in the Windham area. A generous person, she will be missed by all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her husband, Paul W. Siebert. Surviving are Marcella Wood (her dear friend and caregiver) and her many friends.
As to her wishes there will be no public services and she will be interred with her husband at the Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, New York.
Arrangements were by the Cunningham Funeral Home, Greenville, New York.

JAMES VAN VOORHIS
James Van Voorhis, 62, of Altamont, New York, formerly of Preston Hollow, New York, passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, New York on April 3, 2007. He was born in Catskill, New York on September 29, 1944, son of Evelyn (Sanford) Van Voorhis and the late Robert Van Voorhis.
Jim was the owner of Van Voorhis Trucking & Excavating in Altamont, New York. He was also a member of the Operating & Engineers Local No. 106 for over 40 years. He was a member of the Voorheesville Rod & Gun Club and the Preston Hollow Baptist Church. Loving the outdoors, he was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, going to the NASCAR races and Harley Davidson motorcycles. He was very family oriented and enjoyed traveling. A friend to all who knew him, he will be missed by his family and many friends.
Surviving are his mother, Evelyn Van Voorhis of Preston Hollow, New York; three sons, Jeffrey Van Voorhis (Susan) of New Freedom, Pennsylvania, James Van Voorhis, Jr. (Sherry) of Preston Hollow, New York, Matthew Van Voorhis (Don Smith) of Westerlo, New York; three grandchildren, Timothy, Amy and Kaci Van Voorhis; a brother, Carl Van Voorhis (Carla) of Tannersville, Pennsylvania; a sister, Sharon Chichester (Bruce) of Harriman, New York; a niece, Danielle Van Voorhis; and nephews, Jason Van Voorhis, Michael, Brian and Shawn Chichester. Also surviving are his loving partner and companion for 20 years, Betty Walk, and his extended family, Timothy Lamitie (Amy), David Lamitie (Teri), Chuck Lamitie (Lisa), Nancy Lamitie and grandchildren Max, Langston, Alison and Dashiel.

MARGARET “PEG” VENABLE
Margaret “Peg” (Kelly) Venable, 89, of Old Plank Road, Greenville, New York, died peacefully in her sleep, Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at Maria Regina Residence in Brentwood, New York. She was the loving wife for 67 years and forever “Peg of My Heart” of Ed who predeceased her in 2005. Peg was born September 22, 1917 in Brooklyn, New York, the second of six children of Mary McDermot and Joseph Kelly. She attended Mercy High School and worked as a secretary until her retirement.
Peg and Ed raised their family and were loyal and active parishioners of St. Raymond Church in East Rockaway, New York, and then, after their retirement to the mountains, of St. John the Baptist Church in Greenville, New York, where they worked tirelessly and responded to every call for assistance in bringing Christ’s love to all. She was also a member of the Rosary Society and Altar Society. Despite being so physically limited by Parkinson’s Disease in her last years, Peg’s beauty came from her heart and shone through her eyes and gentle smile. She anticipated people’s needs, knew people’s wants and gave generously to everyone who asked and to every charity that begged.
Peg is survived by her sister, Dorothy Meuchner of Brooklyn, New York; her daughter, Kathleen Venable of Center Moriches, New York; and sons, Dick and wife Judy of East Windsor, Connecticut, Gary and wife Maryellen of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, and Tom and his wife Peg of Walden, New York. She is also survived by seven granddaughters, Maria Loayza, Carolyn Albers, Michele Venable, Kathleen Venable, Colleen A. Venable, Colleen L. Venable and Kimberly Venable; and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her infant daughter Regina; her sisters, Marian, Eileen and Therese and brother James. Peg left so many special friends and family members who were in constant contact with her until the end. We are all so grateful for the wonderful and loving care she received at Villa Mary Immaculate and Maria Regina Residence.
Funeral services was Tuesday, April 10 from the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR 81, Greenville, New York, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church, Greenville. Calling hours were on Monday, April 9. Interment was Tuesday in St. Charles Cemetery.

EDITH KATHERINE SACK DELP
Catskill – Edith Katherine Sack Delp, (Mrs. Wayne M. Delp), born October 21, 1918 at Mount Vernon, New York to Fred Sack and Alma Liedtke, died April 6, 2007 at Catskill, New York.
Mrs. Delp moved to Coxsackie at age 6 with her family. She married at 16 and lived on Fares Road in Ravena for much of her married life, moving to Haas Hill, New Baltimore in 1981. Mrs. Delp worked as a secretary for Main Brothers Heating Company. She was formerly a member of the Coeymans Hollow Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
Mrs. Delp is survived by her son, Thomas Delp of Rensselaerville; daughter, Karen Delp of Reston, Virginia; granddaughters, Robin German of Moreno Valley, California and Diana Delp of Climax, NY; great-grandchildren Jessica and David German of California and Lindsey Hotaling of Climax; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Wayne, son Ronald, grandson David, and brother William Sack.
Mrs. Delp has been cremated privately, and burial will take place at a later date, under the direction of Caswell Funeral Home, Ravena.

ELIZABETH MARIE (YOUNG) BOONE
Westerlo – Elizabeth Marie (Young) Boone passed into eternal peace and happiness April 8, 2007 in the presence of her children at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland. Betty was born December 15, 1920 to the late Charley and Margarite (Peg) Young. Charley Young was a well known sports editor for the former Knickerbocker News. Betty graduated from Vincentian Institute in 1938 and Mildred Elley Secretarial School. She was briefly employed at Capitol Forestry where she met her husband, Charles Boone, and remained happily married until his death in 2000. Betty was an only child who wanted six children before she was 30. She got her wish and then some.
In addition to her husband, Betty was pre-deceased by their infant daughter, Martha. She is survived by her children Charles (Lynne) Boone of Clifton Park, Carole (Victor) Ballato of Delmar, Donald (Barbara) Boone of Edgewater, MD, Theresa (Patrick) Boyle of Farmington, NH, James (Susan) Boone of Fayetteville, Mary (John) Querques of Clifton Park, Gerard (Laura) Boone of Westerlo, Anne (Thomas) Bielawski of Duanesburg, John (Chris) Boone of New York City and Joseph (Taffey) Boone of Westerlo, 25 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Betty is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, William (Joan) Boone of Las Vegas, NV, a sister-in-law, Ethel Woods of Pal Alto, CA, two nephews and three nieces.
During the years the family lived in Delmar, Betty was a member of St. Thomas Paris and their Altar Rosary Society. After moving to Westerlo, Betty joined the parish of St. John the Baptist in Greenville and was an active member in their Altar Rosary Society as well as a Eucharistic Minister. She also participated in the local Meals on Wheels, the Westerlo Volunteer Fireman’s Ladies Auxiliary and the NYS Beef Cattlewomen’s Association.
A wake was held at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4989 Sr 81, Greenville, NY 12083 on Wednesday, April 11 from 4:00 to 8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Church, Greenville at 11:00am Thursday, April 12.
In Lieu of flowers, contributions in Betty’s memory may be made to Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, Guilderland, or the Hilltown Meals on Wheels.

RONALD J. LEE
Medusa, NY – Ronald J. Lee (59) of Medusa, NY passed away suddenly on April 5, 2007, while fishing in the Town of Conesville. He was born in Conesville, NY on June 4, 1947, son of the late Frank and Dorothy (Cleveland) Lee. Ron was a retired employee of 35 years of Albany County Highway Dept. An avid outdoorsman he enjoyed hunting, fishing, “four wheeling” and attending car shows. Ron was known to help anyone in need and will be missed by his family and friends.
Surviving are a son Frank Lee (Mui Ho), a daughter Sara Harper, three brothers, David Lee, Sr., Charles Lee, Sr., Harold Lee, Sr., and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Ernest Lee, Sr., and a sister Ella Strother.
Funeral services were Friday 8pm at Cunningham Funeral Home, Greenville, NY. Friends were invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 6 to 8pm prior to the service. Cremation will be at the Albany Rural Cemetery with interment in the Manorkill Cemetery.

THOMAS G. LYNCH
LaGrange, GA – Thomas G. Lynch, 86 years, of LaGrange, GA (formerly of Cornwallville, NY) passed away on April 10, 2007 in the West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, GA. He was born in Jersey City, NJ on March 7, 1921, son of the late George T. and Mary E. (Osterman) Lynch. After graduating High School in New Jersey, Tom proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII and Korea as a Fire Controlman 1st Class and took part in the 1946 Bikini Bomb Experiment. Tom was also proud that in 1951 he had an Audience with the Pope in Rome. Tom and his wife Mary raised their family in the Riverdale, NJ area. He became a Locksmith after moving to his retirement home. Tom belonged to several Senior Citizen organizations, the AOH, Greenville-Irish American Club, VFW Tri-Town Memorial Post #1416 and Our Lady of Knock Council Knights of Columbus. He moved in 2003 following the loss of his wife to LaGrange, GA to be near family. Tom was pre-deceased by his beloved wife of 50 years, Mary E. (English) Lynch, a son, Brian Lynch, a twin brother John Lynch and a brother George Lynch.
Surviving are two daughters; Maureen Struble and her husband Jack of LaGrange, GA and Eileen Lynch of San Diego, CA, two grandchildren; Michelle Van Lenten of San Diego, CA and Kelly Amsen of Debary, FL, and four brothers; James Lynch of Bayville, NJ, Timothy Lynch of Anaheim, CA, William Lynch of Thornton, CO and Peter Lynch of Ft. Reading, NJ.
Funeral service was 10:30am, Monday, April 16, 2007 from the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR 81, Greenville, NY with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am at Our Lady of Knock Shrine in East Durham, NY. Friends were invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 7pm. Interment will be in the Cornwallville Cemetery.

CAITLIN JUSTICE HENRY
Westerlo, NY – Caitlin Justice Henry, age 15 years, of 869 SR 143, Westerlo, NY died April 16, 2007, after a tragic accident while canoeing.
She was born Sept. 9, 1991, in Concord, NH, and was the daughter of Jay M. and Jeanette J. (Esperon) Henry of Westerlo.
Mass of The Resurrection took place Saturday, April 21, 2007, at the St. Joseph’s Novitiate Church, Round Top, NY, at 10:00am.
Interment followed in the family plot of the St. Joseph’s Novitiate Cemetery, Round Top, NY.
At the time of her death, she was a student in the 10th grade and attended The Grapeville Christian School. She was a member of the Sadality of St. Joseph’s Convent.
She loved to play the piano, volleyball, and loved to write poetry and was devoted to The Blessed Virgin.
Besides her parents, she is survived by four brothers Patrick, Brendan, Bobby and John and also survived by four sisters Maria, Brigid, Theresa and Isabella.
Also survived by her maternal grandmother Helen Potthoff and step-grandfather Thomas Potthoff of Florida, also survived by her maternal grandfather John Esperon of Florida and paternal grandmother Kay L. Henry of New Hampshire.
Relatives and friends were cordially invited to attend calling hours at The Richard Funeral Home, 29 Bross Street, Cairo, on Friday, April 20, 2007, from 6-8:00pm.
A Rosary Service took place on Friday evening at the funeral home at 7:30pm.
