Located southeast of Gayhead, on
Ira Vail Road in the Town of Cairo. The cemetery is surrounded by a stone wall and is in good
condition.

1. Matilda Cook has a marker in the Old Gayhead Cemetery, however the
transcriber notes that she is buried in Gayhead Cemetery. The transcriber also
notes that the seven children of Horace and Matilda Cook are buried in Old
Gayhead Cemetery according to the family bible. They are:

4. During this transcription, the transcriber noted that two markers were
removed from the cemetery and had not had an opportunity to copy them.
NOTE: This transcriber appears to have calculated
birth dates from the year and age at death. It is unlikely that all these
markers had the birth year inscribed upon them - Sylvia Hasenkopf.
Dwight Brownell's marker, has been found at a
private residence in the Town of Cairo, as noted on this site. Efforts will be
made to return it to its rightful location in the Old Gayhead Cemetery.
