This indenture made the fourteenth day of August in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and fifty six between Reuben E Towner and Lucinda his wife  of the first part, and Christopher Deo , (all of the town of Jewett, county of Greene, and state of New York) of the second part, witnesseth, that the said parties of the first part , for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and seventy dollars, to them in hand, paid by the said party  of the second part, the receipt whereof is hereby confessed and acknowledged , hath remised, released and forever quit claims unto the said party of the second part, in his actual possession now being, and his heirs and assigns forever. All that certain piece of land situated in the town of Jewett aforesaid, and being part of the lot known as the Parke Lot and described as follows, Viz: beginning at the centre of the Creek road, at the north west corner of the parcel of lands conveyed by Ethan G. Bailey, to N. Wm. Beach; and runs thence along the west line thereof, south 51 degrees 45 minutes, west 9 chains 90 links to the south line of the Parke lot thence north along said south line, south 55 degrees 30 minutes west ---10 chains 46 links to a point 6 links south east from a beech tree carved; thence north 34 degrees 30 minutes east 15 chains to the centre of the beaten track of said road and thence along said track north 30 degrees 30 minutes east 14 chains 60 links to the place of beginning, and containing 14 and 2/10ths acres of land more or less. Together with all and singular, the hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversion and reversions, remainder and remainders, rents, fines, and profits thereof, and also all the estate, right, title, interest, property, claims on demand whatsoever of the said party of the first part either in law or equity, of, in and to  the above described premises, with the said hereditaments and appurtenances. To have and to hold  the said premises to the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns to the sole and only proper use, benefit and behoof of the said party of the second part his heirs and said assigns forever. In witness whereof, the said parties to these presents have here unto interchangeably set their hands and seals the day and year first above written.

State of New York, Greene County.  On this 14th day of August 1856 personally appeared before me the subscriber Reuben E Towner and Lucinda his wife, to me known to be the same persons described, and who executed written conveyance: and the said Lucinda, on a private examination apart from her husband acknowledged that she executed the same without any fear or compulsion of her said husband. Recorded April 17th 1858 9h A.M.
