Indenture made the twenty sixth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty eight “Between” John Barlow and Charity his wife of the Town of Cairo County of Greene and State of New York of the first part and Philip Slawson of the Town of Westerlo in Albany County of the second part. Witnesseth that the said John Barlow and Charity his wife for and in consideration of the sum of seven hundred dollars money of United States to the said John Barlow and Charity his wife by the said Philip Slawson in hand well and truly paid at and before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained sold released and confirmed and by these presents do grant bargain sell alien release and confirm unto the said Philip Slawson in his actual possession now being and to his heirs and assigns forever all that certain tract piece or parcel of land situate by and being in the Town of Cairo aforesaid and on the East side of the Catskill Creek and formerly owned by Abraham Parson Butted and bounded as follows via beginning at a Butternut Tree standing on the West side of the highway near a small bridge and from thence running South seventy five degrees and a half East two chains and eighty links to a small red oak near a spring in the side of a hill and from thence north four degrees East eighteen chains to a stake and stones in the line of Samuel Earls land and from thence North fifty two degrees West fourteen chains to a Walnut Tree for corner then South sixty degrees West twelve chains and eighty links to the aforesaid highway and from thence down and along the same South forty degrees West twenty seven chains to the place of beginning. Containing thirty acres and a half quarter of an acre. Land together with all and singular the privileges advantages hereditaments and appurtenances to the said premises belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders rents issues and profits thereof and all the estate right title interest property claim and demand whatsoever both in law and in equity of them the said John Barlow and Charity his wife or either of them. In or to the same every or any part or parcel thereof TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the above granted bargained and released premises with the appurtenances unto the said Philip Slawson his heirs and assigns to the only proper use of the said Philip Slawson his heirs and assigns forever and the said John Barlow and Charity his wife for themselves their heirs executors and administrators .Do by these presents covenant promise grant and agree to and with the said Philip Slawson his heirs and assigns in manner and form following that is to say that they the said John Barlow and Charity his wife at the time of the ensealing and delivery of these presents are lawfully seized in their own right of in and to the said premises mentioned to be hereby granted and released with the appurtenances as of a good sure perfect absolute and indefeasible estate of inheritance in fee simple without any condition or other matter or thing whatsoever . To alter change charge defeat or make voice the same and also that they the said John Barlow and his wife Charity his wife have in themselves good right full power and lawful authority to grant bargain sell and release and assure the said promises hereby mentioned to be granted and released unto the use of the said Philip Slawson his heirs and assigns in manner aforesaid and further that the said Philip Slawson his heirs and assigns shall and may from time to time and at all times forever hereafter peaceably and quietly have hold occupy possesses and enjoy the said premises mentioned to be hereby granted and released with the appartenances and that free and clear and freely and clearly acquitted exonerated and discharged of from and against all and all manner of former and other gifts bargains sales leases mortgages dowers of titles dower judgements executions charges and encumbrances whatsoever and the said John Barlow and Charity his wife for themselves and their heirs all and singular the premises mentioned to be hereby granted and released and every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances unto the said Philip Slawson his heirs and assigns against all and every person and persons whomsoever Lawfully claiming or to claim the same shall and will WARRANT and forever defend by these presents In Witness Whereof the parties of these presents have hereunto interchangeably set their hands and seals the day and first above written.

State of New York Greene County On the 26th day of March 1828 

The within named John Barlow and Charity, his wife to me well known. Did in my presence duly execute the within deed and severally acknowledge the same as their act and deed for the uses and purposes therein mentioned and the said Charity separate and apart from her said husband acknowledged that she executed the said deed freely without any fear or compulsion of her husband let it be recorded.
