COXSACKIE – Ann Lhotan, 86, of Route 385, Coxsackie, died
Aug. 31, 2007 at Eden Park Nursing Home in Catskill where she had been a patient
since July 31.
She was born in New York City and was the daughter of the
late Charles and Anna (Hurgot) Burevitch.
Private cremation took place at the Albany Rural
Crematorium in Menands.
Memorial services are to be announced.
She had been an area resident for 28 years, a communicant
of St. Mary’s Church in Coxsackie, an avid bowler, member of the Bethany
Village Senior Citizens, member of the Athens Senior Citizens and past employee
of the Frito Lay Co. in New York City.
Ann was active in many community affairs and organizations.
Her husband Frank predeceased her.
Survivors are her son, Robert C. and wife Carole Lhotan of
East Durham; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Lorraine) Pierce of New Rochelle and
Mrs. Walter (Patricia) Zydel of Marlboro, N.J.; and many grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.

CATSKILL – Anthony T. Perrino, 88, of Route 32A,
Palenville, died Friday evening, Aug 31, 2007, at Eden Park Nursing Home in
Catskill.
He was born Nov. 25, 1918 in Manhattan, the son of the late
Giovannia and Maria (Mele) Perrino.
Anthony played semi-pro baseball for the Batavia team and
the New York Giants. He served in
the U.S. Coast Guard and was a veteran of World War II.
Anthony was a member of the New York Police Department for many years,
retiring as a sergeant in 1973. Anthony
has been a resident of the Palenville area since 1970.
He was a communicant at Sacred Heart Church in Palenville.
Anthony was a long time member and Past Exalted Ruler at the Catskill
Elks Lodge 1341. He enjoyed
organizing the annual well-attended road trips to Saratoga Racetrack for the
Elks. Anthony was also a member of
the New York Police Department Sergeants Benevolent Association.
Mr. Perriro was a predeceased by his loving wife, Ethel
Perrino, on April 12, 2005; and a son, Robert Perrino on June 9, 2004.
Mr. Perriro is survived by a son, John Perrino and wife
Donna of South Cairo; three daughters, Jane Bartello and husband Anthony of
Orchard Park, Mary Potter and husband Dan of Hannacroix and Amy Schmidt and
husband Edward of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother, Daniel Perrino of Toms
River, N.J.; a sister, Anna Thompson of East Meadow, L.I.; 23 grandchildren; 10
great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call at the Traver & McCurry
Funeral Home, 234 Jefferson Heights, Catskill on Monday from 4-8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held 10:15 a.m. Tuesday from the
funeral home, followed by an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart
Church, Mountain Avenue, Cairo. Rev.
Jeremiah Nunan, pastor, will be officiating.
Interment with full military honors will follow in the Town of Catskill Cemetery Veteran Section.

COXSACKIE – Leila A. (Fitzpatrick) Wich, 68, of Earlton,
died Aug. 29, 2007, at the St. Peter’s Hospice, Albany.
She was born Aug. 12, 1938 in Pittsfield, Mass., daughter
of the late John and Josephine (Fitch) Fitzpatrick.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated with Rev.
Father Richard Shaw, the celebrant, at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 3, 2007, at St.
Mary’s R.C. Church, Coxsackie.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend
calling hours at the W.C. Brady’s Sons Inc. Funeral Home, 97 Mansion St.,
Coxsackie, today from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
Interment will take place in the family plot of the St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth F. Wich of Earlton;
three sons, Kenneth J. Wich of Maine, Steven C. of Tennessee and Gary M. Wich of
Tennessee; four daughters, Susan M. Wich of Pennsylvania, Nancy J. Wich of New
York, Carol E. Glover of Pennsylvania and Elaine B. VanEtten of New York; three
sisters, Regina Furciniti of Massachusetts, Mary Hayes of Massachusetts and
Kathleen Fitzpatrick of Massachusetts; 18 grandchildren; and many cousins,
nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her brother John
Fitzpatrick and a sister Patricia Fallon.
She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Coxsackie,
and also she was an avid scrap-booker.

John I. Amerson, age 67 years, resident of Eden Park Health
Care Center, Catskill, since March 4, 2005, formerly of Purling, NY, passed away
peacefully September 1, 2007, at the Eden Park Health Care center, Catskill,
after a long illness.
John was born Jan. 23, 1940, in Thomaston, Georgia, and was
the son of the late John Hill and Margaret Eudora (Gladin) Amerson.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, Sept. 7, 2007
at 10:00 A.M. at the Richards Funeral Home, 29 Bross St., Cairo, with Rev. Retta
Lykens, Pastor of the Cairo United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment with full military honors will take place in The
Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY.
John served his county proudly in the United States Navy
during the Vietnam era from 1958-1970. He
was a member of the Cairo American Legion Mohican Post, a member of the VFW in
Georgia, an associate member of the Round Top volunteer Fire Co.
John moved to Cairo in 1997 from Georgia.
During his days of employment he was a machinist in Atlanta, Georgia.
He married his wife Linda J. Amerson at the Round Top
Community Church Aug. 18, 1973. He
loved restoring tractors, putting together models, enjoyed historical movies and
was an avid cat lover and loved the Atlanta Braves.
John is survived by his wife of 34 years Linda J.
(Simpkins) Amerson of Purling, four daughters, Margaret E. (Amerson) Snider of
Georgia, Trenna Amerson of Fla., Kimberly Heifler of Fla., and Tracy Miller of
Indiana, and a son, David Amerson of Maryland.
Also survived by his brother, Donald Amerson of Georgia, two sisters,
Carol Blissett of Fla., and Teri Epling of South Carolina, locally survived by
his nephew Rickie Lawrence and his wife Linda and their children of Purling, 11
grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousin.
Besides his parents, John is predeceased by his sister
Hilda E. Lawrence on Jan. 23, 1998.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Richards
Funeral Home, Bross St., Cairo, on Thursday from 6-9PM.
The Tri Town Memorial Post #7229 will hold services at 7:15 PM and the
Cairo American Legion Mohican Post will hold services at 7:30 PM Thursday
evening at the funeral home.

Daughter was “light of his life’
PORT ST. LUCIE, FLA – Robert Dingee-Scheller passed away
unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 28. He
was 27 years old and is survived by his mother, Kathy Scheller-Harwick, his
stepfather, Michael Harwick, and the “light of his life” his 3 year old
daughter, Donna Marie.
He is also survived by his grandmother, Mary Kathleen Scheller, his two aunts, Diane Scheller and Patrice Larkin, his uncle, Roy Scheller and many dear and wonderful friends. Bobby was born in Catskill, but had resided in Port St. Lucie, Fla. for the last 20 years.

ATHENS – Viola Hoerning, 88, of St. Augustine, Fla., and
Athens, died September 1, 2007 at her home in Athens.
She was born in Elmhurst June 22, 1919, the daughter of the
late Frederick and Anna (Schmidt) Burkhardt.
On Aug. 29, 1940 in Maspeth she married Edward F. Hoerning, who died
December 29, 1969.
Viola was associated with the family-owned Hoerning
Pharmacy in Coxsackie for 35 years.
She was a member of the Coxsackie Garden Club, St. Augustine Garden Club, the Tri-County Banjo Band of Troy, Memorial Lutheran church of St. Augustine and former member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Athens.
She is survived by her sons, Edward F. Hoerning and wife
Gertrude Carol of Gastonie, N.C., and Eugene C. Hoerning and wife Elizabeth of
Catskill; daughter, Ann F. Withjack and husband Noel of Athens; brothers,
Ferderick Burkhardt and Albert Burkhardt, both of Forest Hills; sisters-in-law,
Julia Kurth of Pompano Beach, Fla. and Gloria Hughes of Jacksonville, Fla;
granddaughter, Nancy Brown and husband Keith of Pittsboro, N.C.; grandson,
Thomas Hoerning and wife Ann of Charlotte, N.C.; granddaughter-in-law, Jennifer
Baxley and husband Paul of Henderson, N.C.; and step-grandchildren, Laura
Thurber of Ballwin, Mo.; and Daniel Thurber of Daytona Beach, Fla.
Also surviving are two great-granddaughters, Laura Hoerning
of Charlotte and Olivia Hoerning Baxley of Henderson; and several nieces and
nephews.
Viola was predeceased by her sister, Florence Limbach and
her grandson, Robert Hoerning.
There will be no calling hours.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, September 8,
2007, at All Faiths Cemetery, Middle Village, with the Rev. Leo Longan of
Trinity Lutheran Church officiating.

GREENVILLE –Marjorie M. Graves, 79, of Catskill, passed
away at the Eden Park Health Care Center in Catskill on Sept. 4, 2007.
She was born in Nyack on July 8, 1928, daughter of the late Russell and
Marion (Hansen) Beasley. She had
worked at Stiefel Labs, Inc. for over 30 years before her retirement.
She was predeceased by her husband David Graves and a
sister, Jean Pulsifer. A friend to many, she will be missed by her family and
friends.
Surviving are a son, D. Russell graves of Lowell, Mass.; a
daughter, Sharon Camporeale of Catskill; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Eugene
Travell; and a sister Ruth Shortal.
As to her wishes, she was cremated and graveside service to
which friends and relatives are invited will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 1
p.m. at the Oak Hill Cemetery on Route 81 in Oak Hill.

COXSACKIE – Lois Marion Bogardus (Garrison) passed away
peacefully at home after a long illness on September 5, 2007, at her son’s
home in Albany.
She was born Jan. 15, 1920, in Catskill to Ellsworth and
Helen Bates Garrison.
Lois married Charles “Del” Bogardus on May 4, 1946, and
moved to Coxsackie where she resided for 44 years.
Her husband predeceased her on Nov. 29, 1994.
She was predeceased by her parents and a brother Robert Garrison.
Lois is survived by her son Ronald (Bogie) and devoted
daughter-in-law Sheila; a life-long treasured dear friend of over 50 years,
Trilby Hotaling of Coxsackie; and a god-daughter, Linda Bannach; and Godson
William Hotaling both of Liverpool; several cousins; and numerous friends.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend
calling hours at the W.C. Brady’s Sons Inc. Funeral Home, 97 Mansion Street,

EARLTON – Joseph R. Garcia, 64, of Earlton, died Sept. 7,
2007 at his home after a long illness.
He was born in New Castle, Penn. March 13, 1943 and was the
son of the late Raymond and Helen (Pandrock) Garcia.
Graveside services are private.
Joseph lived in Columbia County for many years and moved to
Greene County 12 years ago.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and served in the U.S.
Navy from 1961-1965.
Survivors are his wife Lynn F. (Lennon) Garcia; three
daughters, Tracey L. Garcia and Elizabeth Garcia, both of Earlton, and Janice
Garcia of Valatie; sister, Marion Hubay of North Carolina.

EAST DURHAM – Joanna M. Radnai, 86,
of East Durham, formerly of Yorktown Heights, passed away at Kaaterskill
Care in Catskill on Sept. 7, 2007.
She was born in Germany on Jan. 29, 1921.
A lifelong homemaker, she was also a volunteer for the Community Action
of Greene County for over five years and was named as a Senior Companion of the
Month. Because she was bilingual in German and English she was able to help
clients who spoke German but no English. Devoted
to her son Gabor, she will be missed by her family and friends.
Surviving is a son Gabor (Gabe) Radnai of East Durham and
relatives in Germany.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 11 a.m. at
the Cunningham Funeral Home in Greenville. Friends
may call at the funeral home on Monday from 6-8 p.m.
Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Greene County Sheriff’s Officer
ATHENS – Michael A. Scott, 63, of 36 N. Vernon St., died
Sept. 8, 2007, at Kaaterskill Care Skilled Nursing Facility in Catskill after a
long illness.
Born in Hartford, Conn., on July 3, 1944, he was the son of
the late Anthony and Amelia (Vizzi) Scott.
His years of employment included being an engineer for
Conrail in Selkirk, part-time police officer for the Village of Athens and
Security Officer for APO of Sleepy Hollow Lake.
His most recent employment was Corrections Officer for Greene County Jail
and part-time Greene County Deputy Sheriff from which he retired in 2002.
During his employment with Greene County, Mike became a New
York State-certified training instructor for corrections and BMP.
After his retirement, he carried this education into
becoming a state-certified Security Guard Instructor and established SHL
Security Training School at Sleepy Hollow Lake in Coxsackie.
Mike was a loving husband and father.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, JoAnn (Melia);
children, Michael A. Jr. and Robert A., both of Athens, and Patti Ann (David)
Johnson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and his devoted chihuahua, Misty.
He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Ralph
(Joe) and Debbie Scott of Catskill; sisters-in-law, Rita Melia of Worcester,
Mass. and Frances Scott of Athens; and three nephews, Anthony Scott III, Louis
and Ryan Scott.
Special friends who gave Mike great comfort were Frank
Boelke of Selkirk, Barry Gavigan of Cairo, Adam Greco of Athens and Joyce
Tressler of Catskill.
Calling hours will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Richards
Funeral Home, 28 N. Vernon St., Athens.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the New
Athens Rural Cemetery. The day of the funeral everyone is asked to meet at the
cemetery.

SAUGERTIES – Granville S. “Scotty” Myer, 84, of Main
Street and formerly of West Saugerties Road died Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, at the
Ulster County Health Related Facility, Kingston.
Born Sept. 12, 1923 in Saugerties, he was the son of the
late William M. and Hannah Jane Ackert Myer.
A lifetime area resident he was a United States Navy Veteran of World War
II.
He owned and operated “Scotty’s” Garage on Route 212
in Saugerties from 1954-1992. An
active firefighter, he was a past chief of the Centerville-Cedar Grove Fire
Company.
Survivors include one daughter, Dariel Bodie of Palenville;
three sons, Wayne G. of Palenville, Scott A. of Catskill and Glenn William Myer
of Florida; four grandchildren, Tara Lackie, Stefanie Cotich, Rachel and Wayne
Myer; one great-grandchild, Kelsey Lackie; one niece, Gail Rose; one nephew,
Sherman Myer, his former wife, Della Lomoriello, also survive.
He was predeceased by a brother, Howard Myer.
His funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at the
Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc., corner of John and Lafayette Streets with Rev.
Troy Allen, pastor of the New Life Assembly of God, officiating.

Steve Pecylak (59) passed away peacefully at his home in
Westerlo, NY after a courageous battle with cancer on Sept. 8, with his loving
family by his side.
Steve was born in Yonkers, NY on Jan. 9, 1948 son of Ksenia
(Seredinsky) Pecylak & the late John Pecylak.
He grew up in Hastings on Hudson, NY.
He joined the US Marine Corps on July 30, 1966 and served in Vietnam. He
was wounded and honorably discharged with a Purple Heart on Oct. 25, 1967. In
1976 he moved to Westerlo, NY where he married his wife Lorraine Scott in 1977.
Steve worked as a carpenter until 1981 & then worked 26 years as a
corrections officer, retiring from Greene Correctional Facility on Aug. 2, 2007.
He was also a member of the Northern Catskill Racing Pigeon
Club in Cairo, NY for 22 years. Raising
and racing pigeons was his love.
Steve is survived by his wife Lorraine, son David &
daughter Andrea all of Westerlo, NY, also his mother Ksenia, two sisters Irene
Hess & Maryann Pirozek all of Hastings on Hudson, NY & many nieces,
nephews and Godchildren.
Funeral service will be Wed. 10:30 AM from the Cunningham
Funeral Home, 4898 SR81, Greenville, NY with a Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM at
St. John the Baptist Church. Friends
may call at the funeral home on Tues 2 to 4 & 7 to 9PM.
Interment will be in the Westerlo Central Cemetery.

Former Cairo Deputy Town Clerk
CAIRO – Concetta (Connie) Battiston passed away
peacefully in her sleep on Sept. 7, 2007 to be with our Lord and her husband,
Danny. She was born on Feb. 18, 1918 in Brooklyn, NY and was married to Danny in
1937.
She and Danny later moved to Cairo in 1951 where they
opened a boarding house called Damien’s Haven at the top of Aratoga Hill.
They operated the boarding house during the summer months for over
fifteen years. Connie later served
as a postal clerk in the South Cairo Post Office.
Connie was active in the Cairo community as a member of
many organizations including her positions as President of the Cairo Hose
Company Auxiliary, President of the Cairo Central PTA, President of the Holy
Rosary Society and as officers in other organizations such as the Lady Elks and
the Cairo Democratic Club. She is
also remembered as the “Unoffical Town Clerk” of Cairo where she assisted
her husband Danny, the elected Town Clerk, in taking care of the many duties
associated with that office. Her
dedication to that office and the Town of Cairo will be long remembered.
Connie and Danny retired to Florida in 1985 until they
moved to Houston, Texas in 2001 to live near their son.
In 2003, she moved with her son to Charlottesville, Virginia where she
resided at Our Lady of Peace Assisted Living.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and
Barbara Battiston of Keswick, VA, two grandson, Dr. John Battiston Jr. of
Keswick, VA and Steven Battiston of Leesburg, VA, five great-grandchildren, John
III, Sabrina, Camille, Rachel and Jacob.

Albany Medical Center on September 11, 2007 as a result of injuries he received
in an automobile accident. Tom was born on May 6, 1933, the son of James and

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 35 years,

formerly of Freehold, NY died peacefully at his home on September 11, 2007.
He was born in Catskill, NY on Nov. 18, 1934, son of the late Howard and
Vera (Huggins) Allen. George was
Superintendent of Highways for the Town of Greenville for 17 years.
He was also a 25 year member of the Bricklayers, and Allied Craft Workers
Local No. 5 in Poughkeepsie, NY. Always
a community minded person he was a member of the Freehold Congregational Church,
the Greenville Republican Club and the Freehold Vol. Fire Co. for many years.
George was predeceased by his two brothers, Robert and John Graham.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Marjorie of Charlotte,
NC, his children, Douglas of Charlotte, NC, daughters , Darlene Senter of Troy,
NY and Krista Carey of Matthews, NC, three grandsons, Christopher and Matthew
Senter of West Sand Lake, NY and Patrick Carey of Matthews, NC.
Funeral service will be Monday, 10 a.m. at the Cunningham

Friday, September 14 at Kaaterskill Care in Catskill.
She was born October 1, 1923 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Richard
and Florence (Gross) Tansor.
Mary served in the U.S. army Air Force during WW II.
She was employee of Coxsackie Correctional Facility prior to her
retirement. Mary was an officer and
member of the American Legion Honeyford Memorial #110 Ladies Auxiliary; Catskill
Ladies Elks; St. Patrick’s R.C. Church;
CDA Court Teresa # 273; St. Patrick’s Rosary-Altar Society; Catskill Senior
Fellowship; RIPS; and Catskill Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
She was predeceased by a brother, Donald Tansor.
Mrs. Peloke is survived by her husband of over 61 years
Robert E. Peloke of Catskill; a daughter, Sharon Pine and husband James of
Catskill; two sons, Robert Peloke II of Catskill and Kenneth Peloke and wife
Linda of Cape Coral, FL; a brother, Ramon Duran of Hawaii; a former

Cairo, died Thursday, September 13, 2007 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in
Hudson. He was born December 26,
1969 in Catskill, the son of Sandra Couchman Russell of Wake Forest, NC and the
late Leroy Edward Russell.
Dale attended Catskill and Cairo Central Schools.
He was a self-employed carpenter and mason.
In addition to his mother, Dale is also survived by a
daughter, Brianna Russell of Freehold; a brother, Neal Russell and wife Maureen
of Catskill; a sister, Tammy Hilyer and husband Darren of Raleigh, NC and
several cousins, nieces and nephews.

CONESVILLE – Kathleen J. Mattice, 98, of Conesville,
passed away at her home on Grand Gorge on Sept. 14, 2007.
She was born in South Jefferson, town of Gilboa, daughter
of the late Frederick and Minnie (Shaw) Beggs.
She married Louis Pl. Mattice in Conesville on Dec. 12,
1931.
Kate graduated from the Stamford Union Free School in 1926
and the Stamford Seminary Training class in 1927.
She started
teaching Sept. 1927 at the age of 18 at the one-room school in Conesville Dist.
7, with 30 pupils.
She and her husband purchased the school property in 1940,
renovating the building into a home, bought the surrounding property and
operated a dairy farm. In the 1960s
she owned Matt Ice’s General Store in Conesville.
She was a member of the Conesville United Methodist Chapel,
the Conesville Fire Dept. Aux. and the Gilboa Historical Society.
She was also instrumental in the formation of the Gilboa
Senior Citizen Group many years ago.
She lived in Conesville for 80 years, moving to Grand Gorge
Senior Apartments in 2002.
She was remarkable and alert for 98 years.
She enjoyed lunchtime at the meal site; going out to eat (as she did just
last week with six of her old friends); family gatherings with her extended
family.
She is survived by granddaughter, Laurel Mattice of West
Conesville; and great grandchildren, Stephanie Truesdell of Boston, Mass.,
Dustin Truesdell of Gilboa and Zachary Truesdell of Conesville;
niece, Bonnie Lincoln of So. Dennis, Mass.; nephews, Barry Beggs of
Blakesly, Penn., Carl (Mary-lou) Mattice of Pindars Corners, and Lawrence
(Sandra) Mattice of Oneonta; and sister-in-law, Madeline Mattice of Prattsville.
She was predeceased by her husband, Louie P. Mattice, Jan.
4, 1973; son, Paul L. Mattice, Jan. 18, 1992; grandson, Larry Paul Mattice,
Sept. 26, 1974; and her brother, Byron Beggs in 2001.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Conesville
United Methodist Chapel with Pastor Dot Morris officiating.

He was born in Greenville on Jan. 2, 1924 son of the late Thurman and Mable (Elliot) Vaughn.
Murphy served in the U.S.
Army during World War II serving in the Rhineland, Central Europe and
Northern France and received the American Service Medal, Distinguished Unit
Badge, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal & the Good Conduct
Medal.
He and his late brother William Vaughn had operated the IGA
Market in Greenville and then he worked at Bryant’s Super in Greenville for
many years. He was a member of the Greenville American Legion Post 291.
Surviving are daughters, Norma Marsilio (Michael), Marsha
Cance (Allessandro), grandchildren, Erik & Kim Marsilio, Jessica Pril and
Regina Cangelosi also 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces , nephews and
great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Marjorie (Foland)
Vaughn also his stepmother Mildred (Stone) Vaughn.

LINLITHGO – Edgar E. Dresdner, 72, of Linlithgo died
Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at Northern Dutchess Hospital.
Born April 1, 1935 in Lynbrook, he was the son of the late
Edgar Everett Dresdner and Florence E. (White) Dresdner.
Mr. Dresdner was a Korean War Veteran having served with
the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956. He
had been employed as a driver with Canada Dry of Hudson and a driver for F.L.
Graziano of Hudson. He then drove
for Mountainview Coach Lines, the Dutchess County Loop and Patsy Zanchelli Inc.
He also was a collector for Hudson-Catskill Newspapers in Hudson.
Mr. Dresdner was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church
of Hudson and a Life member of the former Linlithgo Fire Company.
Survivors include his wife Rosalie
(Szepessy) Dresdner, a son and daughter-in-law; Edgar and Lisa Dresdner
Jr. of Greenport, 4 daughters and three sons-in-law: Debbie and John Hawks and
Stephanie and David Wheeler all of Greenport, Mary Plamatier of Linlithgo, Ann
and Kevin Litke of Linlithgo, a
sister, Dorothy Dresdner of Linthgo. Grandchildren: Ashley and Jeremy Dresdner,

Florence had been an area resident for 80 years.

was also a very active in the Loughman’s Building Supply, located on Route 145
in Cairo; she loved to work in demo department of many local area supermarkets.
She is survived by a son, Stephen Jr. and wife Susan of
Locust Grove, Va.; a daughter Mrs. Joseph (Carol) Campisi of Largo, Fla.;

late Roma Ebeneezer Tiffany and Bertha May Ridley Tiffany.
She retired from The Hulse Co., in Geneva, NY, and moved to the Rivertown
Apartments in Athens in 1999.
Miss Tiffany is survived by her sister, Mrs. William

She is survived by a dear friend, Dorothy Johnson; a niece,
Judy Humphries and great-nephew Keith Humphries, both of Florida.

She was raised in the Athens area, and lived most of her lifetime in Coxsackie. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Coxsackie and also a member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Coxsackie O.E.S. No. 873 Kaksakee Chapter.

HUDSON – Morton A. Ginsberg, of Great Barrington, Mass.,
died Friday, Sept. 21, 2007 in Hudson, NY.
Born July 20, 1919 in Hudson, he was the son of the late
Samuel and Mary Ginsberg.
He attended Hudson High School and the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill before entering the US Army in 1942.
He served four years in the Quarter Master Corps receiving an honorable
discharge in 1946.
Morton, and his late wife, Ida (Goodman) Ginsberg, founded
Ginsberg’s Institutional Foods, which is now the largest independent food
service distributor in the Hudson Valley and one of the top fifty food service
distributors in the country. He
retired from President of Ginsberg’s and then served as chairman of the board.
He was instrumental in the formation of the NY State Food Service
Distributors Association and also served as treasurer.
He received the Empire Food Service Annual Publishers Award for Lifetime
achievement and received the Columbia County Man of the Year Award.
Morton was Campaign Chairman of Columbia Greene Medical
center; an elected Board of Trustees member and past president of the Hudson
City Savings Institution; a life member of Congregation Anshe Emeth, also
serving on the board and as a past president, member of B’nai Brith; a member
of Hevreh in Gt. Barrington, Mass.; past president of the Hudson Rotary Club
also serving as it’s Sergeant of Arms for 23 years; past president of the
Hudson Jaycees and received their man of the year award; received Entrepreneur
of the year award from the Hudson Teacher’s Association; life member of Rogers
Hose #2; member of Greenport Pumper
#1; member of American Legion Post # 184; member of Hudson Lodge of Elks #787;
member of the Hudson Lodge of Masons #700; member of Cyprus Shrine of Albany,
NY; served on the advisory board of the Salvation Army; former board member of
the American Red Cross, Community Chest, and the American Heart Fund; board
member and past president of the American Cancer Society; member of Columbia
County Selective Service Board; active in Scouting; a member of the Columbia
Golf and Country Club and former member of the board and member of the Palm
Beach National Golf Club.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Myra (Phillips)
Stern; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Nancy Ginsberg and Ira and
Beverly Ginsberg; 9 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
The family he leaves behind celebrates his full wonderful
life. Morton was a firm believer of
giving back to the community in which he lived in.

CATSKILL – Mallaby Hayes, 84, of Skinner Road, Catskill,
died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at home after a long illness.
She was born April 26, 1923 in Morristown, NY, the daughter
of the late Percy and Jessie (Farrell) Atkinson.
Mallaby was an administrator for the NC Tax and Limousine
Commissioner for 23 years prior to her retirement in 1983.
She had been a Greene County resident since 2002.
Mallaby was a past president of the American Legion Ladies
Auxiliary Post 422, Flushing, Queens. She
was a member and volunteer at the Rivertown Senior Citizens in Athens and was a
member and past secretary for the Communication Workers of America in New York
City. Mallaby was predeceased by her husband, Paul G. Hayes Jr. on March 5,
1973.
She is survived by two daughters, Paul Cirnigilaro and
husband Steven Cirnigliaro, and Jessica Hayes, all of Catskill; a son Jeffrey
Hayes of Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Thomas Cirnigliaro, Christine
Edwards and Paul G. Hayes III; and three great-grandchildren, Jillian A.

Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home in Albany, NY on Sept. 23, 2007.
She was born in Catskill, NY on March 5, 1926 daughter of the late Henry
& Mildred (Tunison) Mangold. Barbara
was very active in her community, teaching Red Cross Swimming, being a Charter
Member of the Freehold Vol. Fire Co. Ladies Aux., enjoying golfing, bowling,
gardening & knitting. Also
active in her church, she was a member of the St. John’s Rosary Altar Society.
She also loved her family and was a friend to all she met.
She was predeceased by her husband Edmund S. Baron & a sister Theresa
Notarnicola.
Surviving are two daughters, Eileen Fernandez (John) and
Michelle Place (Philip) & a son Edmond Baron II (Sherry) ; also 7
grandchildren, Christopher and Jessica Fernandez, Eilis and Stephanie Baron,
Philip Place Jr.; Leanne & Evan
Place; two brothers Joseph and Robert Mangold & two sisters, Ruth Herrington
and Frances Ayrey & several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Carmela Margaret Sencabaugh, age 74, of 23 Clinton
Avenue, Catskill, died suddenly Saturday, September 22, 2007 at home.
She was born July 7, 1933 in Catskill, the daughter of the late Vincent
and Maria (Lombardozzi) Casaregola.
Carmela was a past employee of J.J. Newberry’s in
Catskill. She was a lifelong
communicant at St. Patrick’s R.C. Church in Catskill. Carmela was a member of
the Rip Van Winkle Senior Citizens and past member of St. Patrick’s Mothers
Club. She was predeceased by her
husband, John “Jack” Sencabaugh on October 28, 2004.
Mrs. Sencabaugh is survived by a son, John V. “Jack”
Sencabaugh of Catskill; a brother, Cosmo Casaregola and wife Joanna of Catskill;
two sister-in-laws, Ursula Casaregola of Catskill and Arlene Sencabaugh of
Melborne, Florida; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Donald Fred Burger, 76, of Athens, NY died Sunday,
September 23, 2007, at his home after a long illness surrounded by his loved
ones.
Don was the proprietor of Catskill Valley Pharmacy. He
devoted his life to serving his community for over 40 years.
He was a parishioner at St. Patrick’s Church of Athens,
where he was an active member of the choir.
He had a great passion for singing. Don
was also an avid sports fan. He
loved football, baseball and bowling.
Don was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years Elizabeth Ann (Riescher) Burger.
Together they had six children. Three
sons Donald P Burger of Athens, William Burger and his wife Sarah of Virginia,
Mark Burger and his wife Gloria of Athens, three daughters, Colleen Holloway of
Catskill, Kathleen Burger of Menands and Irene (Burger) Speenburgh and her
husband Gene of Athens. Don was
blessed with ten grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren. Don also leaves
behind his sister Irene (Burger) Scott and her husband Michael of Coxsackie.

North Vernon Street, Athens, NY on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007 from 2-4 and 6-8
PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick’s
Church in Athens, NY on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007 at 10:00 AM.

for Ann Lhotan, formerly of Route 385 Coxsackie, who passed away on August 31,
2007. The service will be held on

Ann had been an area resident for 28 years, a communicant
of St. Mary’s Church in Coxsackie, a member of The St. Mary’s Church Altar
Rosary Society in Coxsackie, a member of the two Coxsackie senior Citizens
groups, and was active in many community affairs and organizations.
She was also a caregiver to several area residents.

Louise Seaburg (95) of Alcove, NY passed away at the
Guilderland Center Nursing Home in Guilderland
Center, NY on Sept. 23, 2007. She
was born in Switzerland on Feb. 24, 1912 daughter of the late Karl & Anna (Lammly)
Flach. She was a retired postmaster
having been the postmaster in the Alcove Post Office for many years.
She and her husband had also operated the Alcove Store. Louise loved the
Alcove Church which she attended and supported and also supported the Little Red
School House & was the past president of the Alcove Cemetery.
A family loving person, she will be missed by them and her many friends.
She was
predeceased by her husband, Arthur Seaburg, a son Arthur Seaburg, two sisters,
Ida Plass & Anna Lessmuller and two brothers, Rev. Charles Flach and Joseph
Flach.
Surviving is a son Curtis Seaburg (Donna) of Alcove NY
& a daughter Marion Leigh of Alcove, NY.
Also 9 grandchildren, 20
great-grandchildren & 3 great-great-grandchildren, two sisters, Elizabeth

ATHENS – Mary E. Hickey, 88, of the Village of Athens,
died peacefully at Kaaterskill Care in Catskill on Wednesday morning, Sept. 26,
2007.
A lifelong resident of Athens, she was born March 26, 1919
to the late Alexander and Mary (Tobin) Hickey.
Mary worked at the former Kadin Pocketbook factory in
Athens.
She was a member of the Athens Senior Citizens.
Mary was predeceased by her parents and her brother
Alexander.
She is survived by her dear friends: Zadock and Susan Van
Kuren; James and Carol Robinson; Mary Wittaker and Gene Faviccio and family, all
of Athens.
Friends may call Friday 6-8 p.m., Sept. 28, 2007 at the
Millspaugh-Camerato Funeral Home, 139 Jefferson Heights, Catskill.
A prayer service will be conducted 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral

PHILADELPHIA – A woman with a most amazing and dynamic
personality has left us.
Marthe Lavallee-Williams, 81, of Philadelphia, Pa., died
early in the morning of Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007. Martha’s vigor, intelligence
and vast knowledge always presented challenges to her family, friends and
especially her students. Through her
extended travels around the world, she brought back valuable new understanding
and appreciation of peoples, places, cultures, art and history.
These traits were coupled with her caring understanding and loving
nature. Never to be taken lightly
was Marthe’s powerful presence dating from her youth and continuing throughout
her life. Her sharp wit sprinkled
with compassion has left an indelible mark on all of us fortunate enough to have
known her.
Marthe graduated Magna cum Laude from College of Mount St.
Vincent in New York City, and received her MA and Ph.D from Columbia University.
She was a teacher at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, and
also taught in Jacksonville, Florida and Tacoma, Washington.
But the majority of Marthe’s career was as a professor at Temple
University in Philadelphia.
Born on Oct. 2, 1925 in New York City to Wilfrid and Alice Lavallee, Marthe was predeceased by her husband, Hobart Lyle Williams, and leaves her sister, Ruth Aruta of Hamden, nieces Gabrielle Pierce of Treadwell and Jeannette Grose of Cairo. She was great-aunt to Jeffrey Yazdi, Jill Odgen, Richie Larsen, Tom Buel, Elliot Kubicek, Valerie Ferran, and the late Jeremy Lehmann.
At her request, Marthe’s ashes will be scattered at a
beloved location in the Adirondack Mountains, and a gathering of friends and
family will take place in the near future, in her memory.

HANNACROIX – John Dewey McMurry, 83, of Hannacroix, died
peacefully in the arms of his loving daughter, Cassandra Channing, Tuesday
morning, September 25, 2007, at home.
Born in Plainview, Texas, Dec.6, 1922 he was the son of the
late Charles Dewy and Juanita (Latham) McMurry.
He was married to the former Mildred (Pozner) McMurry for over 60 years.
Mrs. McMurry survives at home.
He was a First Class Radio Operator for American Transport
Airlines, based in New York City. During
World War II, Mr. McMurry flew non-stop combat missions overseas with supplies
for the military.
He attended Radio School in Kansas City, Mo., and Flight
School in Flushing, Queens and graduated from Queens College. He was a former
member of the Medway-Grapeville Fire Department.
They have lived in Hannacroix since 1950 moving here from Great Neck, L.I.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter,
Cassandra Lee Channing of Hannacroix; his sister, Margaret Ruth Bisbee of Fort
worth, Texas; a granddaughter Cassandra Lynn Hughes of Saratoga Springs; his
great grandchildren: Charles John Long and Olivia Lynn Hughes; and great-great
grandchildren Carter John Long and Kaylie Marie Long.
He was predeceased by his brothers Jack and Harold McMurry.
Funeral services will be private and burial will be at a
later date in Texas.
The family suggests Memorial Donations in his memory be
made to the Coxsackie Town Ambulance; Town of Catskill Ambulance or the Diabetes
Foundation.

GREENVILLE – Edward R. Waldron, 85, of Middleburg,
formerly of Medusa, passed away at the Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital in
Schenectady on Sept. 25, 2007. He
was born in Freehold on Feb.2, 1922, son of the late Reuben and Elsie (Powell)
Waldron.
He graduated
from Greenville Central school and attended Cornell University.
He was predeceased by his two wives Marion (Snyder) Waldron and Gladys
(Poole) Waldron. Ed had operated a
farm in Medusa for several years and then moved to Middleburg in 1968 and ran
the family farm until his retirement. A
very active and community-minded person he was a member and Past Chief of the
Medusa Volunteer Fire Co., a member of the James Austin Lodge F. & A.M. He
also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Mutual Ins. Co.
for 52 yrs. and was Chairman of the Board for 17 years, he was also a member of
the Schoharie Holstein Club and a honorary member of the Dairy Shrine.
Surviving are a daughter Carole Bates (Albert) of Medusa; a
son, John Waldron (Dianna) of Middleburgh; his grandchildren, Kevin Bates, Glenn
Waldron (Marguerite), Neil Waldron and Joy Waldron; great-grandchildren, Ciara
and Brenden O’Brien, Matthew and Alaura Lischek and great-great grandchild
Zaina Lischek. He was also
predeceased by his two brothers; James and Howard Waldron.
Funeral services will be Saturday, 3 p.m. at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 Route 81, Greenville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the Medusa Cemetery. Those who desire may contribute in his memory to the American Cancer Society or to the Bleeding Disorders of Northeast New York.

LEEDS – Katherine C. Alfonsin, 79, of Elting Road, Leeds,
died peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany.
A lifelong resident of Catskill, she was born Nov. 28, 1927
to the late Charles and Gladys (Morey) Carl.
Katherine was predeceased by four brothers, George, James,
Frederick and infant Richard Carl.
Katherine was first and foremost a homemaker, but she also
worked at J.J. Newberry’s of Catskill and sold Avon products for a number of
years. She was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Catskill.
Katherine is survived by her husband of 62 years, William
Alfonsin of Leeds; two sons, William Alfonsin and wife Susan of Acworth, Ga.;
George Alfonsin and wife Sharon of Ravena; daughter, Barbara O’Connell and
husband James of Voorhees, N.J.; two sisters, Mamie VanValkenburg of Catskill
and Paula Incerpi of Bonita Springs, Fla.; four grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
At Mrs. Alfonsin’s request there will be no calling hours. The burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to the Community Hospice, 47 Liberty St., Catskill, NY 12414.

GREENVILLE – Victoria J. Palmer, 45, of Acra passed away
suddenly at her home on Sept. 25, 2007. She
was born in Oradel, N.J. on April 14, 1962, daughter of Carol (Fisher) Davie and
the late Kenneth Davie. She was a
graduate of Greenville Central School class of 1980 and attended school to
become a hairdresser. She also
worked at Pine Springs as a waitress, at Story’s Nursery in Freehold and at
Bryant’s Super in the gas station booth. She
loved being a mother to her kids and will be missed by her family and friends.
Surviving are her mother Carol Davie of Acra; a daughter
Nicole Radler (Robert) of Westerlo; a son Adam Palmer of Acra; two brothers,
Patrick and Kenneth Davie; and a sister Pamela Hess.

CATSKILL – Victoria L. Stanzione, 46, of 402 West Bridge
St., Catskill, passed away Sept. 25, 2007 at her residence.
She was born in Kingston April 23, 1961, and was the
daughter of Raymond and Barbara (Hines) O’Bryon Jr. of Catskill
Funeral services will take place Saturday, 3:30 p.m. at
Richards Funeral Home, 29 Bross St., Cairo.
At the time of her death she owned and operated Wavelengths
Beauty Salon in Catskill. She was also a firefighter of the Osborn Hose Company
No. 2 of Catskill. She was a
lifetime resident of Catskill, she was an avid runner and cyclist, and she took
part in many triathlons. She loved
animals, especially her two pet dachsunds Nala and Yeittle.
Besides her parents, she is survived by her husband Michael
and two sons Christopher and Nicholas, her brother Dale and his girlfriend Lisa
Jenson, also a sister Darcie O’Connor and her husband Jason O’Connor, and
her godchild Meranda O’Connor.
Also surviving are Mike’s family members Mrs. John and
Catherine Stanzione Engelhardt, who are his mother and stepfather, brothers
in-law John, Joseph and Patrick Stanzione, two sisters in-law Madeline Green and
Catherine Stanzione. Also surviving
are several nieces and nephews.

Friday, September 28, 2007 peacefully at home.
He was born May 27, 1935 in Hillsville, Pa., the son of the
late Guiseppe and Elisabetta (Collucci) Amedure.
Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was a carpenter and a member of Local 370 in Albany.
Mr Amedure is survived by his wife, Brenda (Birzin) Amedure
of Leeds; seven children, Joseph Amedure of Leeds, Elizabeth Amedure of Leeds,
Richard Amedure and wife Anne of Rensselaerville, Jennifer Amedure of Leeds,
David Amedure of Albany, Emilie LaRosa and husband Michael of Freehold, and
Stephen Amedure of Palenville; brothers and sisters, David Amedure, Rosetta
LoPresto, Helen Luca, Virginia Amedure, Dorothy Saqqal, Joseph Amedure and Betty

Catskill, died Sept. 28, 2007, at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
She was born in New Bedford, Mass. on Jan. 30, 1929.
Funeral services will be noon Monday at the W.C. Brady’s
Sons Inc. Funeral Home, 97 Mansion St., Coxsackie.
Calling hours will be 11 a.m. to noon Monday.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Alice) Hogan of
Oneonta; a sister, Edith Annania of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
Jennie loved Bingo, the New York Yankees, camping and her
dog Chico.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the West Athens
Limestreet Fire Co. for over 40 years and the Catskill Crafters.
Contributions can be made to the Ladies Fire Auxiliary.
