GLASCO – Fannie Petromale, 84, of Main Street, Glasco, died Friday, Dec. 30, 2005 at the Benedictine Hospital, Kingston, after a brief illness.
Born Aug. 17, 1921, in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Vicenza Marrello Craus.
A lifetime resident, she owned and operated with her husband Joe and other member of the Petramale family, Frank’s Hunting Lodge on Partition Street in the Village of Saugerties.
She was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in Glasco.
She was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1984, and brothers Frank and John Craus.
Survivors include sister Jennie Petramale of Glasco, nieces Linda McCoy of Warwick and Joan Mayone of Glasco, nephew Joseph Petramale of Glasco and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
Her funeral procession will form at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006, from the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Corner of John and Lafayette Streets, Saugerties, thence to St. Joseph’s Church, where at 10 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Barclay Heights, Saugerties.

DOROTHY E. BRANDOW
Nurse
Dorothy E. Brandow, 80, formerly of Prattsville, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005, at Robinson Terrace Nursing Home in Stamford, Delaware County.
Born Aug. 16, 1925 in Prattsville, she was the daughter of Clarence E. Brandow and Hilda Cross Brandow.
Mrs. Brandow was a graduate of Gilboa Central School and received her nursing degree, with honors, from Hartwick College in Oneonta.
She practiced nursing at Albany Medical, Cooperstown and Cobelskill hospitals, and taught nursing at Ulster County Community College, before retiring in 1989.
She enjoyed the outdoors, nature and skiing.
Survivors include two sisters, Marian Hapek and Aletha Hoagland Van Valkenburgh, both of Prattsville; a niece, Barbara Cooke; a nephew, William Hoagland; and several great nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours.
At her request, she will be cremated and attended to by her family.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Decker Funeral Home, Windham.

Donald R. Jack, 94, of Route 145, Cairo, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005, at Van Rensselaer manor Nursing Home in Troy.
Born ma 25, 1911 in Ossining, Westchester County, he was the son of the late Hugh and Lillian Cronk Jack.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Jack Jr. of Arkansas and Patrick Jack of floral Park, Long Island; two daughters, Lorraine Scarpinati of Cairo and Ellen Pulice of Athens; a sister, Lillian Malkus of Cairo; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
Calling hours will take place 2-4 p.m. Wednesday at the Richards Funeral Home, 383 Bross Sr., Cairo, with the Rev. J. Nunan, Pastor of the Sacred Heart Church of Cairo, officiating.
Private cremation will take place at the Albany Rural Crematory in Menands.

GHENT – Edward J. Kozel, 71, of Route 20, Ghent, died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005 at St. Peter’s Memorial Hospital in Albany.
Born may 12, 1934 in Hudson, he was the son of the late Frank and Eva Misovick Kozel.
He graduated from Hudson High School where he excelled in the pole vault.
A lifetime area resident, Mr. Kozel previously owned and operated Kozel’s Restaurant, and at the time of his death owned Meadowgreens Restaurant and Golf Course.
He was a member of the Ghent Rod and Gun Club, the Hudson Elks and the West Ghent volunteer Fire Company. He also enjoyed animals and the outdoors.
Survivors include two sons, Jonathan and Richard Kozel of West Ghent; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and David Busa of Ghent; a brother, Frank Kozel of West Ghent; a sister, Patricia Cebry of Delmar; and eight grandchildren, Matthew, Tyler, Andrea, and Stephanie Buser, and Sherry, Richard Jr., Ryan, and Jeremiah Kozel.
He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Johns Kozel on Aug. 18, 1966; and a sister, Marion Kozel.
Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Valenti and Richards Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jack Wilder of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Hudson officiating.
Interment will take place at the family plot in the Ghent Union Cemetery.

Grace M. Tobiassen, 75, of West Bridge Street and formerly of Malden Turnpike, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005, at the Benedictine Hospital in Kingston after a brief illness.
Born May 20, 1930 in Cementon, she was the daughter of the late Dominic and Grace Zaccaria Giordiano.
A lifetime area resident she was formerly employed for mare than 20 years at the Marriott Hot Shoppe Restaurant on the New York State Thruway at Malden.
She was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Snow Roman Catholic Church in Saugerties, an active member of the Cementon Sportsman Club and a former member of the Saugerties Bowlers Club.
Survivors include two daughter, Deborah Tobiassen of Saugerties and Virginia “Ginny” Robinson of East Windham; a sister, Virginia Konopka of Saugerties; four grandchildren; three step grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Otto in December 1992.
Her funeral procession will form at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., corner of John and Lafayette streets, and then to St. Mary of the Snow Roman Catholic Church, where at 10 a.m., a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Hugh R. Grace, Pastor.

unexpectedly went to be with the Lord on January 1, 2006.
Joseph was born on February 16, 1963 in the Bronx, to Samile L. (Garcia) Krom and James H. Krom Sr.
He was predeceased by his father on February 9, 1985.
He is survived by his children, Joseph Rocco Krom and Samuel Robert Krom; his mother, Samile; his former wife and best friend, Theresa Guarino; siblings, Emma, Jim Jr., Marcella, Joey, Andrea, Teresa, Diane, Michele, Debbie, Emiley, David and Kenny; and many nieces and nephews.
JoJo was a carpet installer working for Alpine Flooring in Windham.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 6, 2006, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., at Decker Funeral Home, 134 Main Street, Windham.

HUDSON – Norma Ives Weed, 76, of Broad Street in Catskill, died Sunday, January 1, 2006 at the Community Hospice at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson.
Born March 14, 1929 in Greenport, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Mabel Gritman.
Mrs. Weed was a homemaker.
Before retiring, she was employed as a seamstress at the Big A in Hudson.
Surviving are her three daughters, Carol Doolan, of Frankfort, Herkimer County, Helen Sanders, of Catskill, and Terry Weed, of Orlando, Florida; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and her uncle, William Clark, Sr., of Hudson.
She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Rufus Weed, in 1974.
There will be no services.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

SAUGERTIES – Bridget Fox, 85, formerly of Saugerties and Kingston, died December 26, 2005 at Benedictine Hospital in Kingston, NY.
She was born Feb. 17, 1920 in Coatbridge, Scotland, the daughter of the late Daniel and Sarah (Carr) Coyle.
Bridget was raised in County Donegal, Ireland. She emigrated to the United States, and lived in Brooklyn for many years.
Bridget was an employee of St. Agnes Church in Brooklyn prior to her retirement. She was a communicant at St. Thomas Church in Brooklyn.
Bridget had been a Cairo resident, then moved to Saugerties in 2002.
Ms. Fox is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Ray Hecker of Palenville, and six nieces and nephews.
Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Feb. 4, 2006 at St. Mary’s Church in Fanad, Letterkenny, County Donegal, Ireland. Fr. Martin Doohan will be officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Fanavolty Cemetery in Fanad, Ireland.

CATSKILL – Mary S. Johnson, 83, of 46 Liberty Street, Catskill, died suddenly, Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson.
She was born October 18, 1922 in Brooklyn, the daughter of the late James and Catherine (Higgins) Kelly.
Mary was a former member of the Sisters of the most Blessed Trinity. She later was an employee of St. Claire’s Hospital in Manhattan.
She has been a Catskill resident since 1989.
Mary was a communicant at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Catskill.
She was predeceased by a brother, John Kelly, and a sister, Kathleen Kelly.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, Thomas F. Johnson of Catskill; a son, William T. Johnson of Greer, South Carolina; a daughter, Ann T. Quinn, of New Jersey; a granddaughter and primary caregiver, Elizabeth Kelly of Catskill; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call at Traver and McCurry Funeral Home, 234 Jefferson Heights, Catskill, on Friday from 8:30 to10:30 a.m.

CATSKILL – Mildred LeCount, 91, of Indian Ridge Road Extension, Leeds, died Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson.
Born December 12, 1914, in the Bronx, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Inger (Carlson) Jensen.
Mildred was a real estate saleswoman for Rossi Real Estate in Yorkers. She has been a seasonal resident of Greene County since 1959, and a full-time resident since 1975.
Mildred was later an employee of Mr. Lincoln Auction Service in Coxsackie prior to her retirement.
Survivors include a daughter, Millicent LeCount of Manhattan; a son, Russell LeCount of the Bronx; and three nephews, Aldor DuFault of Colonie, Louis J. Jensen of Montville, NY, and Neil Jensen of North Carolina.
She was predeceased by her husband, Emergeon LeCount in 1975; a brother, Louis S. Jensen; and a sister, Ivy Nicholson.
There are no services planned.
Private cremation will be performed at Park View Cemetery in Schenectady. Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family.

THOMAS MACDONALD III
Retired public school teacher
CATSKILL – Thomas MacDonald III, 64, of Route 23, Acra, died Sunday, January 1, 2006 at Albany Medical Center Hospital.
Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, on July 20, 1941, he was the first child of Thomas and Gladys (Bermingham) MacDonald, Jr.
Mr. MacDonald was a retired public school teacher and New York State Correctional teacher, program administrator, and former U. S. Air Force Officer.
Thomas retired from the NYS Department of Correctional Services in July 1996. He later worked part-time and cared for his aging parents.
Early in his career, Thomas served four years active duty as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force in the specialty of aircraft maintenance, which included one year of service in Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from SUNY-Buffalo, a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from SUNY-Oneonta, and a certificate from the U. S. Air Force Aircraft Maintenance Officers School at Chanute AFB in Illinois. He took additional course work at Columbia-Green Community College, SUNY-Albany, College of St. Rose, and SUNY –New Paltz.
Mr. MacDonald taught a number of subject areas and held several NYS permanent teaching certifications. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, NYS United Teachers, NYS Professional Employees Federation and New York State Retired Public Employees Association.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Arlene Joyce (Pousont) MacDonald of Acra, whom he married on August 27, 1966; his two sons, Thomas Edward MacDonald and wife Barbara, of Huntington, Long Island, and Bradley James MacDonald of Acra; two grandchildren, twins Tyler Thomas MacDonald and Amanda Jean MacDonald, both of Huntington, Long Island; four younger brothers, Ian MacDonald and wife Yoonie of Woodbridge, VA, David MacDonald of Valley Falls, Brian MacDonald and wife Karyn, of East Windham, and James MacDonald of Fort Lauderdale, FL; as well as several nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours scheduled.
Funeral services and graveside Spring interment will be held at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Ashland.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Traver & McCurry Funeral Home in Catskill.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society, American Cancer Society, Salvation Army, National Rifle Association or the school district of choice for a sound educational purpose.

HUNTER – Doris Cole died Dec. 28, 2005 at Saratoga Hospital from a massive heart attack shortly after undergoing successful gall bladder surgery. She had been a resident at Mountain View Apts., Hunter, for the last eleven years.
She is survived by her children, daughters, Cheryl and Judy, sons Kenny and Martin and daughter-in-law Patricia, a sister Sharon, niece Sherry and nephew John.

CATSKILL – Sinaida “Zina” Huggard, 85, of Church Street in Leeds, died Thursday, January 5, 2006 at Eden Park Health Care Center in Catskill.
She was born May 8, 1920 in Russia.
Zina studied medicine and worked in the medical field for almost 15 years prior to her marriage to the late John Huggard, who predeceased her on July 24, 1999.
Zina was very happy to be a homemaker. She loved animals, plants, music and art. Mrs. Huggard is survived by several close friends.
Private funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Traver and McCurry Funeral Home, Catskill. The Reverend James E. Clark, pastor of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Catskill, will be officiating. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s cemetery in Catskill.

SAUGERTIES – Emily T. Swingle, 85, of 155 Main Street and formerly of Appletree Drive, died Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at the Ulster County Health Related Facility after a brief illness.
Born September 20, 1920, in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Alice Donigan Feit.
She was employed by the Town of Saugerties for many years as a Deputy Town Clerk, retiring in 1983. Prior to that, she was employed as Secretary to the Principal of Saugerties High School, Daniel Lee, and by the Town of Saugerties as an Assistant Court Clerk for several years.
She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary of the Snow Roman Catholic Church and a former member of St. Mary’s Rosary Society.
She was a member of the Town of Saugerties Republican Club and the former secretary of the Saugerties Senior Citizens Club #2. She enjoyed playing bingo throughout the community.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas M. “Skip” Swingle of Saugerties and Robert C. “Bobby” Swingle of Palenville; two daughters, Kathleen Brown and Maureen Swingle, both of Kingston; one sister, Rosanna Golden of Culpepper, VA; one son-in-law, Ronald Brown of Kingston, and two daughters-in-law, Mary Jo Matthews of Cedar Glen, Calif. and Carrie Swingle of Palenville; seven grandchildren’ two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence F. Swingle in October 1976; a son Larry Swingle, in 2001, a brother Richard Feit, and a sister, Alice Stack.

LIBERTY – Marian E. Stewart, 93, formerly of Liberty, NY, died Tuesday, December, 13, 2005, at the Heritage Village Health Center in Gerry, NY.
Born August 13, 1912, in Woodlynne, NY, she was the daughter of the late Wesley and Edith Lewallen Laning and was a 1932 graduate of Windham-Ashland-Jewett Central School.
She lived in various places, including Maplecrest, NY and Lakeland, FL, before moving to Gerry in 1992.
Marian was employed as a file clerk in the payroll department for Globe, Royal Eagle Insurance Co. of New York City, in the Cashier’s Department at Montgomery Ward in Kingston, and as a cafeteria worker at Liberty Central School. She was also a full-time homemaker.
Marian was a member of the Gerry Free Methodist Church, Women’s Christian Temperance Union, Women’s Ministries International, and Gideon Auxiliary International. She was also a volunteer at Heritage Village Health Care Center.
Survivors include a son, George Hutchinson (Barbara) of Gowanda; two stepsons, Kenneth Stewart (Irene) of Maplecrest, and Larry Stewart (Judy) of Catskill; one step-daughter, Janet Snyder (Richard) of Rock Hill, SC; tow grandchildren’ sic great-grandchildren’ 17 step-grandchildren; and numerous step-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two husbands, the late George V. Hutchinson, whom she married July 7, 1938 and who died December 27, 1964, and the late Kenneth L. Stewart, whom she married October 9, 1965 and who died August 7, 1993. She was also predeceased by a sister Ruth House; and a brother, Paul Laning.
Funeral services were held Sunday, December 18, 2005, in the Seeley Chapel of Schwab Manor in Heritage Village with the Rev. Richard Snyder, Rev. Sam Shreffler, Rev. Herbert D. Oliver, and Rev. Forrest States participating.
Burial services were held December 19, 2005, at the Liberty Cemetery in Liberty, with the Rev. Donald Baker officiating. Arrangements were by Jordan Funeral Home in Sinclairville.

HUDSON – Lorraine D. Seymour, 64, of Fitting Road in Stockport, died Thursday, January 5, 2006 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson.
Born June 16, 1941 in Catskill, she was the daughter of Eleanor (Tubbs) Brooks and the late Pershing Brooks.
Mrs. Seymour was a homemaker.
Before retiring, she was employed as a registered nurse at Columbia Memorial Hospital for over 35 years.
She was a member of the Ghent Bible Baptist Church and the Castleton Fish and Game Club.
In addition to her mother, survivors include a son, Jeff Seymour of Stockport; a daughter, Kathleen Silvernail of Stockport; three brothers, Lawrence Brooks of Athens, Craig Brooks of Rensselaerville, and Roger Brooks of Schenectady; two sisters, Sheila Overbaugh of Catskill and Sherry Robinson of Connecticut; six grandchildren, Tara Rivenburg of Greenport, and Paul Silvernail, Matthew Silvernail, Stephen Silvernail, Hannah Silvernail, and Christopher Silvernail, all of Stockport; a great-grandson, Scott Rivenburg of Greenport, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert B. Seymour, in 1985.
Calling hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green St., Hudson.
Services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

DELMAR -- Junita Rose (Boughton) Britton, 80, of Delmar died at the Hospice Inn of St. Peter’s in Albany on Jan. 7, 2006.
She was born at home in Rensselaerville on June 12, 1925, daughter of the late Manley and Mable (Cole) Boughton.
Junita was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Rensselaerville and a member of Trinity Women’s Guild. She had also served as a member of the Ladies Home Bureau and the Rensselaerville Historical Society.
She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to many.
She was predeceased by her husband Sanford Britton, son Randall Britton and brother Harley Boughton.
Surviving are sons Donald Britton and his wife Susan of Rensselaerville, and Gerald Britton and his wife Kathryn of Latham; daughter Eleanor Velasquez and her husband Arnulfo of Modesto, Calif.; daughter-in-law Paula Britton of Westerlo; grandchildren Randall Britton Jr., Todd Britton, Tamatha Keppler, Samantha Britton, Lisa Chrysler, Donald Britton Jr., Jeffery Britton, Gregory Britton, Regina Velasquez, Christopher Velasquez, Nanetta Velasquez and Arnulfo Velasquez Jr.; nine great-grandchildren; and sister Doris Palmer of Dormansville.
As to her request, she will be created and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Those who desire may contribute in her memory to the Town of Rensselaerville Ambulance Squad.

She was born in Catskill on Feb. 20, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Leon and Louise (Young) Jeune.
Viva was a member of the First Baptist Church of Catskill and an avid reader of the Holy Bible and lover of her faith. She was also deeply devoted to her family.
She was predeceased by her husband Charles Smith; brother, Leon Jeune and grandson Jeremiah Brennan.
She is survived by sons Robert Smith of New York City and Dennis Smith of Leeds; daughter Darla Vincent of Cairo; brother Lyle Jeune of Cairo and James Jeune of Ravena; sisters Ada Mae Weber of Mt. Mrs. Pough was a homemaker.
Before retiring, she worked as an assembler at Textile By Products and for the Ron & Kay Bakery.
She was a member of the Phoenix Hose Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include four sons, Keith Pough of Hudson, Edward Pough Jr. of South Cairo, Robert Pough of Athens and Ralph Pough of Fort Worth, Texas; several sisters and brothers; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Pough Sr.; two daughters, Terry Proper and Harriet Grizer; and several brothers and sisters.

HUNTER – Jeannette O. Auger, 74, of Westkill died peacefully Jan. 8, 2006 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer at the Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson.
She was born July 28, 1931 to Joseph Desormier and Eva (Hebert) Charron in Milbury Mass.
Before retirement she was employed by Danco Plastock, Plastics Molding Co. of Putnam, Conn., for 32 years.
Survivors include her husband Normand J. auger of Westkill, three sons John N. Auger of Danielson, Conn., Joseph M. Auger of Danielson, Conn., roger K. Auger of Dayville, Conn., one daughter Nancy Albanese of Westkill; one brother Marcel Charron of Columbia, Conn., nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her oldest son’s twin, one brother Raymond Charron and a sister Frances Langlois.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at the Aston-Basagic Funeral Home, 7742 Main St., Hunter, and a funeral service at 8 p.m. with the Rev. James Schiffer.

CAIRO – Alexander A. Malkus, 85, of Route 23 in Cairo, died Jan. 10, 2006, at the Columbia Memorial Hospital Emergency Room in Hudson.
He was born in Ridgewood on June 20, 1920, the son of the late Edward and Sarah (Henderson) Malkus.
Funeral services, will take place Friday, Jan. 13, at 4:30 p.m. at the Richards Funeral Home, Bross Street, Cairo, with the Rev. Retta Lykens, pastor of the Cairo United Methodist Church, officiating.
Private cremation will take place at the Albany Rural Crematorium in Menands.
Alexander had been an area resident for the last 36 years. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1982.
He loved woodworking and was a member of the Golden Age Bowling Club.
He would have celebrated his 58th wedding anniversary next week on Jan. 17.
He is survived by his wife Lillian C. (Kay) Malkus of Cairo.
Alexander also served his country in the U.S. Air Force in the South Pacific in World War II.

Jeremiah was an automotive mechanic employed by Manhattan Ford in New York City.
He was a member of the UAW in Manhattan.
He was a loving husband and father.

JEWETT – Israel Slutzky, one month away from 93 years old, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, at his home of 58 years on Route 296, Jewett.
Born on Feb. 8, 1913, at his parents’ farm on Route 23A, Jewett, he was the son of the late Isaac and Ella Miller Slutzky.
Israel graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute as a civil engineer in 1933. From 1922 through 1939, he worked for several general contractors performing estimating work. One project was the Hunter Elementary School.
In 1939, along with his brother Orville, he started the I. & O. A. Slutzky Construction Company. The construction company performed the building of schools and hospitals throughout New York State and built drive-in theaters along the east coast from Virginia to Maine.
In 1942, he joined the U.S. Navy Seabees Construction Battalion and served as Lieutenant Commander in the South Pacific Campaign during WWII from 1942 through 1945. During that time, the construction company became dormant. After the war, the construction company started up again.
Together with his brother Orville, Israel took over the operation of the Hunter Mountain Ski Bowl and from that time forward built it into one of the leading ski resorts in the United States. Israel was a pioneer in the augmenting of snowmaking at ski resorts. He developed snowmaking equipment and methods of producing snow that would later be used by other ski areas.
Israel was President of the General Building Contractors of New York State in 1964. He helped organize the Association and was instrumental in hiring its first director.
Israel was President of the Hunter Synagogue from 1969 through the present. He was a member of the Board of Directors for the Rip Van Winkle Council of Boy Scouts and was honored with the Silver Beaver designation.
He was also a delegate to the International Red Cross, on the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Windham, which later became Bankers Trust Company of Albany, on the Board of Directors of the Mid-Hudson Patterns for Progress, a member of the Lions Club, the Masons, and the Bunt-Brewer American Legion.
Israel was preceded in death by his wife Goldye, son Michael and sisters, Sadie and Dorothy.
Survivors include two sons, Charles B. and David of Hunter, brother Orville of Hunter, four grandchildren, William, Zachery, Rebecca and Tiffany, two great-grandchildren Owen Michael and Jasmine Leigh, the latter who was born the day after Israel died, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Contributions may be made to the International Red Cross, Alzheimer’s Association or the Hunter Synagogue.

COXSACKIE – Elizabeth Ila Andrews, 90, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2006, four days after her 90th birthday.
Mrs. Andrews was born Jan. 5, 1916 in Montreal, Canada, were she married Clifford Andrews.
Her husband precedes her in death.
Mrs. Andrews retired from the Coxsackie National Bank after 30 years of service.
She enjoyed volunteering at church, reciting Irish stories and rhymes and practiced daily devotion to her Lord according to the monastic Fellowship of St. John the Evangelist.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, John and Ann Andrews of Maryland and Peter Andrews of Montreal; a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and George Back of Oklahoma City; three granddaughters, Teri Dillon, Suzanne Young and Heather Blewett; seven grandsons, Marc Andrews, Jonathan Andrews, Christopher Andrews, John Andrews, Luke Back and George M. back; and 12 great-grandchldren.

GREENVILLE – Judy (Clow) Lomanto, 42, of Greenville, died peacefully in her home on Jan. 10, 2006, with her family by her side, after a long battle with breast cancer.
She was born in Catskill on May 11, 1963, daughter of E. Virgil Clow and the late Mildred (Marshall) Clow. Judy was a loving mother to her son Anthony. She loved life and lived it well. Judy was strong in her faith and relationship with God. She was actively involved with her church and loved listening to Christian music. Besides her mother, Judy was predeceased by her brother Everett Clow in 2005.
Surviving are her husband Jim Lomanto and her son Anthony Lomanto, both of Greenville; her father E. Virgil Clow, of Catskill; her sister, Rosie (Clow) Kiefer and her husband John, of Williamsburg, Virginia; her beloved aunt and uncle, Irene Blenis-Butler and Cliff Butler, of Greenville; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Also surviving is her dearly loved dog Snickers.

Ms. Kingsley worked as an executive secretary at General Electric in Schenectady.
Ms. Kingsley was a member of the Broome Center Chapel Church, the Gilboa Historical Society and the General Electric Women’s Club. Ms. Kingsley was also the proud author of the Times Journal newspaper column and she enjoyed gardening.

Formerly of Deep River, Conn., born Sept. 13, 1920, he was the son of Emma LaPlace Moore and Raymond Moore and husband of Nelda Austin Moore.
He was formerly married to the late Moynahan Moore.
He was a graduate of Baypath College and Rutgers University. He worked for Essex and Deep River national Banks and retired from Waterbury National after many years as vice president.
He served in the Navy during World War II, was a member of the Masons for 52 years, was a member of the WAJPL Golden Ager Club, taught the 55 Alive Safety driving course, and attended the Lexington/Westkill Methodist Church in Lexington.
A private interment will be held at the Fountain Hill Cemetery in Deep River, Conn.

SAUGERTIES – Margaret Emily Schliemann died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006, at Benedictine Hospital in Kingston. She was 89.
She was born Feb. 21, 1916 in Queens, the daughter of William Henry Frey and Emily Tomlinson Frey. Her husband, John Schliemann died in 1988.
For many years, together with her husband, she was the proprietor of Hickory Notch Cabins in Palenville. She was an accomplished and avid artist, working in both watercolors and oil. She also enjoyed reading and knitting.
She is survived by her daughter, Jill Schintone of Saugerties; two granddaughters, Samantha Wamsley of Saugerties and Jodie VanEtten of Palenville. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were private. Interment will be in Palenville Cemetery in the spring. Arrangements are under the direction of Buono Funeral Services Inc., Saugerties.

BEDFORD, N.H. – Eugene M. “Pic” Van Loan Jr., 88, of Bedford, N. H., died Nov. 8, 2005.
Pic was born Aug. 15, 1917 in Athens, the son of Eugene M. Van Loan Sr. and Helen Lassen.
He attended local Athens schools and then Yale University, graduating in 1938 with a B.A. in history.
After college, he worked on Wall Street for the brokerage firm of Hornblower & Weeks, where he met Anna Schonland of Manchester, N.H.
When America went to war, Pic went too. He served as an officer in the 423d Armored Field Artillery Battalion of the 10th Armored Division and saw combat in France and Germany during the Battle of the Bulge. After his discharge from active duty in 1945, he continued his service in the U.S. Army Reserve, eventually retiring as a lieutenant colonel.
After the war, Pic and Anna settled in Bedford, and he went to work in Anna’s family business, W.F. Schonland & Sons, one of Manchester’s several specialty meat packing firms. Eventually, Pic became treasurer and chairman of the board and served as such until Schonland’s was sold in the late 1980’s.
In his professional life, he was a member of the National Independent Meat Packers Association (NIMPA) and president of the Eastern Meat Packers Association (EMPA).
His local involvements include service as a board member of or volunteer for Easter Seals Special Transportation Services, the American Legion, the Manchester Exchange Club, S.C.O.R.E., and the Bektash Temple of the Shriners.
Pic’s real interests, however, were on behalf of his adopted community, Bedford. As a 23 year member and chairman of the Bedford Planning Board, he was one of the initial sponsors of a zoning plan for the town and has ever since been known as the “Father of Zoning” in Bedford. In addition, he served as a member of the Bedford Town Council, the Bedford Historic District Commission. Spreading a broader net, Mr. Van Loan also served as chairman of the Manchester Metropolitan Planning Policy Committee and as a commissioner and chairman of the Southern New Hampshire Regional Planning Commission.
An Eagle Scout himself, one of Pic’s proudest moments came when all three of his sons followed in his footsteps and also became Eagle Scouts.
In 2000, Pic, Anna, and their children donated a conservation easement over 65 acres of their property to the Bedford Land Trust. Now called the “Van Loan Preserve” this land is perpetually dedicated to open space and will eventually be developed for passive recreational uses by the public.
Pic had lots of personal interests, but his one abiding passion was tennis, tennis and more tennis.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ann (Schonland) Van Loan; his four children, Atty, Eugene Van Loan III, Jan Van Loan, Dr. Nicholas Van Loan and Christina (Van Loan) Piejak; his seven grandchildren, Eric Van Loan, Ruby Van Loan, Amira Van Loan, Nicholas Van Loan, Zaina Van Loan, Anneke (Van Loan) McStowe and Carl Van Loan; his one great-granddaughter, Isabelle McStowe; and his two sisters, Mary Helen Fader of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Jane Erickson of Athens.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Bedford Presbyterian Church, 4 Church Rd. in Bedford. The Rev. Nicholas Van Gombas officiated.

Madeline has been an area resident since 1983. She retired from J. P. Morgan Co. in 1982.
She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Santella on June 8, 2001.
She is survived by son Vincent and daughter-in-law Barbara Santella, daughter Madeline and son-in-law Edmond Price, and grandchildren Kristopher Price and Jeremy and Alex Santella.

HUNTER – Christine Karen Fromer, 55, died in her sleep on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at her home in Tannersville.
Born Sept. 11, 1950 in Albany, Christine was the daughter of the late Judge John Fromer and Rita Fromer of Tannersville.
She was a graduate of Hunter-Tannersville Central School and received her B.A. from SUNY Brockport. Christine has worked in the banking business for 34 years and most recently as a mortgage consultant at Wachovia Bank in Kingston. Christine was an avid animal lover who also loved to travel and work on her stained glass.
She is survived by her six siblings: Lynn Carlson of Tannersville, John Fromer of New York City, Dan Fromer of Boise, Idaho, Mark Fromer of Tannersville, Julia Galac of Jacksonville, Fla., and Tim Fromer of Bayonne, N.J.
She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, David Fromer.
Calling hours will be on Friday, Jan. 20 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Aston-Basagic Funeral Home at 7742 Main St. in Hunter.

CATSKILL – Lillie Terwilliger, 80, formerly of Palenville, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006 at the Kaaterskill Skilled Nursing Care and Rehabilitation Center in Catskill where she had been a patient since Feb. 10, 2003.
She was born on April 9, 1925 to the late Albert and Susan Klein and was the wife of the late Stephen Terwilliger. She is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Esther) Bilyou of Palenville and Mary Terwilliger of Catskill; 10 grandchildren, Holly Valentine, Stephanie Graham, Robert Bilyou Jr., Richard Bilyou, James Ronk, Stephen Ronk, Tabitha Ronk, Stephen Terwilliger, James Terwilliger and Sean Terwilliger; eight great-grandchildren, Christine Sarnosky, Elizabeth Sarnosky, Maria Felix, Ashley Valentine, Anthony Valentine, Sabrina Terwilliger, Richard Bilyou Jr., and Anastasia Terwiliger; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her siblings and son, Stephen Terwilliger on July 9, 1999.

GREENVILLE – Carol A. Deutsch, 66, of Medusa-Rensselaerville, died Jan. 12, 2006 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn in Albany.
She was born March 7, 1939 in New York City; the daughter of the late John and Louise (Lancos) Engel.
Carol was a graduate of Marymount College and was a Licensed Registered Nurse.
Carol founded the Mt. Sinai Methadone Maintenance Program in New York City in 1968.
Through her professionalism and dedication to duty she helped scores of human beings to take back their lives and live as productive human beings in society.
An avid collector of antiques, Carol could be seen throughout the Northeast at auctions and state sales.
Mrs. Deutsch also had a fond love for animals, many times rescuing animals from the Humane Society.
Carol loved the outdoors and especially her own Double Dutch Farm in Medusa.
Carol is survived by her husband of 33 years, Edgar A. Deutsch.
Also surviving are her tow sisters, D. Engel of New York City and Mrs. Lane of Essex, Conn.
A memorial service is planned for March 11, 2006 at 1 p.m. at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 Route 81. Greenville.

GREENVILLE – Cora Lounsbury, 75, of Westerlo, died on Jan. 16, 2006 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany.
She was born in Berne on Jan. 19, 1930, daughter of the late Claud and Lona (Sala) Vincent.
She lived in the Westerlo area for many years, where she was a homemaker. Cora was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Surviving are her daughter Diane Lounsbury and her husband John of Westerlo; her sons, Ricky Chrysler and his wife Kathy of Greenville, Wade Chrysler of Berne, Roger Chrysler and his wife Lillian of Berne, Donnie Chrysler and wife Diane of Berne, Kevin Lounsbury and his wife Kathy of Berne and James Lounsbury and his wife Beth of Westerlo. She was the proud grandmother of 15 and great-grandmother of eight. Also surviving are her three brothers, Gordon Vincent and Carlos Sala Jr. and Joseph Sala, and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Cora was predeceased by her husband Clifton Lloyd Lounsbury and her four brothers George, Leland, Ezra and Donald Vincent.

Born May 21, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Alvah and Leora Cole Bell.
She was a graduate of Kingston High School and SUNY Delhi, where she earned a degree in Institutional Management.
She worked in Quality Control for Hercules Powder, Co., and also worked for Heritage Realty for many years.
She was an active member of the Reformed Church of America. She was honored as a distinguished elder by the Synod of New York. She served as an ordained Elder in the church.
Most recently, she was choirmaster of the Reformed Dutch Church of Prattsville, and she was an active member of Klyne Esopus Historical Society, of which she was also a founding member. She was also a member of the Wiltwyck Chapter Daughter of the American Revolution.
Survivors include a daughter, Gloria Jean Sparks of DeBary, Fla.; a son, Paul R. Smith and his wife Dianna of Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.; grandchildren Scott R., Christine and Hannah Smith; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Victorine Stackman, and a brother, Rowland Bell.
Calling hours will be Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.

Anne was an avid reader, gardener, and gourmet cook. She greatly loved her church as was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.

DELMAR – Bernadine Celeste Blessitt-Wesley, 86, died Jan. 16, 2006 at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany.
Born May 5, 1919, in Philadelphia, Pa., the eldest of six children born to Theresa Atkinson-Blessitt and Alexander Hamilton Blessitt.
After graduating from The Cooper Union in 1941, with a degree in fine arts, she married Tuskegee Airman Capt. James Seldon Wesley Jr. on July 19, 1942. After moving to Brooklyn in 1947 she attended Pratt Institute doing graduate work in mechanical/electrical engineering design. Subsequently she pursued a career in engineering, working on many defense projects including the lunar module used on the first moon landing. She was active member of The Society of Women Engineers and The Congress of Racial Equity (CORE). Widowed in January 1961, she raised her two young children James Seldon Wesley III and Sydney M. Wesley-Antonio, as a single parent. In her capacity as membership director for CORE she was an enthusiastic marcher at The March on Washington in 1963. After retirement she moved to Haines Falls. Suring this period she taught religious education at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church, in Windham, and was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception in Haines Falls, both in Greene County. She served as a board member of both the Greene County Department of the Aging and the Town of Hunter Planning Board.
She is survived by her two children Sydney M. Wesley-Antonio of Haines Falls and James Seldon Wesley III of Catonsville, Md.; her granddaughter Ashley Marie Antonio-Schneider of Brooklyn and her great-granddaughter Kaiya Nicole Schneider; her son-in-law Evon H. Antonio of Haines Falls. She is also survived by sisters Gwyneth Moore of White Plains; Ursula Lucas of Riverdale; Carmel McKetney of Palm Coast, Fla.; Bernella Wilcox of Jamaica, NY; brother Alexander Hamilton Blessitt Jr. of Mt. Vernon; and brothers-in-law Robert Moore and Lee Wilcox.
Memorial services will be held at noon, Jan. 28, at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, North Lake Rd., Haines Falls under the direction of Meyers Funeral Home, Delmar.

CATSKILL – Joseph Meo Sr., 85, of Hudson, and a former Catskill resident, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006 at the Firemen’s Home in Hudson.
Born July 5, 1928 in Albany, he was the son of the late Claude K. and Emily (Rice) Seipel.
During his lifetime, he served his country in the Army Air Corps from August 1946 to August 1949 in Japan and Korea in the Korean War.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Tilton Equipment co. in Portsmouth, N.H., where he worked doing sales for forest equipment.
He was a graduate of Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Okla., and he attended the University of Denver.
A commercially rated pilot, he was a long term scoutmaster in Westchester, an avid outdoorsman and was active in the Sleepy Hollow Lake community for more than a decade. He also was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Athens.
Survivors include hi wife, Shirley L. (Stugard) Seipel of Athens’ two sons, Robert A. Seipel, Jr. of Elkridge, MD, and Richard M. Seipel, of Yorktown Heights; four grandchildren, Katherine A. Seipel of Yorktown Heights, William E. Seipel, Andrew J. Seipel, and Richard T. Seipel, all of Maryland.

ALBANY – Joseph Louis O’Connor, 88, formerly of Cairo, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born and educated in Yonkers, he was the son of the late Joseph and Christine Kopp O’Connor.
Mr. O’Connor was an Army veteran of WWII.
After moving his family to Cairo in 1958, he commuted weekly to his job at Refined Syrups and Sugars in Yonkers.
In 1967 he left his job in Yonkers to work closer to home and spend more time with his wife and family.
He retired from Fleet Bank (Bank of America) in Cairo in 1982.
Together with his late wife he moved to Albany in 1997.
Mr. O’Connor was a long time communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Cairo and more recently a communicant of St. James Church.
He was an avid thoroughbred racing fan and a long suffering fan of the New York Mets.
Husband of the late Ida Lucy McCue O’Connor; father of Louis (Marcia) O’Connor, of Stamford, NY; Joseph (the late Ileana) of Miami Lakes, FL, Bernadette (Warren) Hoovler of Haines City, FL, Janet (Wayne) Birk of Venice, FL; Ronald (Joan) O’Connor of Ancram, NY; Rita (Jesse) Nelson of Collegeville, PA, Gary O’Connor of Albany; Mary (Peter) Reinsdorf of Niverville, NY and Sheila (Patrick) Gallagher of Yatesville, CT.

Dorothy married William G. Petersen in Racine, Wis., on Oct. 11, 1980, and recently celebrated their 25th anniversary. She was an active member of the Franksville United Methodist Church.

CATSKILL – William Earl VanDyke, 84, of Catskill, died Friday evening, Jan. 20, 2006 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson. He was born Feb. 9, 1921 in Catskill, the son of the late Earl and Marjorie (Griffin) VanDyke.
William was a member of the New York State National Guard from 1938 to 1941. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1942; he served for three years. William participated in the invasion of Morocco, Algeria, and Tunis in North Africa. He also was deployed in six invasions in Europe, Sicily, Solano, Arno, Foggia, Anzio, Alpines and Southern France.
Mr VanDyke was an employee of the Atlanta Knitting Mills in Catskill prior to his retirement. He was predeceased by a sister, Marjorie VanDyke Mulligan in 1981 and a niece, Jean Bowles.
Mr. VanDyke is survived by a brother, Lloyd VanDyke of Leeds; six nieces, Joan Dudek of Florida, Susan Veres of Florida, Jennifer Miller of Catskill, Rose Vining of Claverack, Gloria Lehto of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Virginia Armstrong of Albany; two nephews, Lloyd VanDyke of Catskill and Charles Armstrong of Wilton; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Irene was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Catskill for many years, serving on the church board and as president of the United Methodist Women. In 1988 she moved to Minnesota to be close to her immediate family, having lived in Hastings, Apple Valley and Stewartville.
She is survived by one son, Carl (Patricia) Wirtanen of Winona; two grandsons, Carl (Connie) Wirtanen of Rosemount, Minn., and David Wirtanen of Fagen, Minn.; four great-grandchildren, Erich, Skylar, Emily and Anthony; and one brother, Lyle (Janet) Brandow of Catskill. She was predeceased by her husband, one sister and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006 at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, 412 S. 3rd St., La Crescent, Minn. The Rev. Linda Grounds will officiate. Interment will take place at a later date in Athens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Born Oct. 20, 1942 in Queens, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Ursula (Tabarus) Dapkey.
After retiring from a supervisory job at AT & T Communications, she moved from Richmond Hill, Queens to Windham 11 years ago.
She was an active communicant of St. Theresa’s Church in Windham.
Survivors include her cousins, Peter, Robert and Eileen.

SURPRISE – Lionel J. “Frenchy” Alix, 82, of Surprise died Jan. 23, 2006, at the Good Samaritan Health Care Center in Delmar, Albany County.
Born Feb. 6, 1923 in Montreal, Canada, he was the son of the late Joseph and Lumina Berard Alix.
After serving in Europe during World War II, Mr. Alix was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Air Corps in April 1946.
He worked at Watervliet Arsenal until 1977. After working as a machinist and metallurgist, he retired as manager of the Officers Club.
He also drove school bus for the Greenville School District and delivered fuel oil for C.A. Albright & sons for 10 years.
Mr. Alix was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Greenville, and enjoyed being a greeter and usher at the church.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #0166 in Coxsackie. He enjoyed sports and served as an umpire for the Greene County Softball League. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, camping and making maple syrup, home made wine, beer and sausage. He was also a member of the Lamplighters & Ridgerunners Social Club.
He enjoyed gathering with friends and family. He was constantly surprised with the antics, loved teasing them, his youngest granddaughter, Samantha, and great-granddaughter, Myah, both 4.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Yannone Alix; children, Jeannene (Eugene) Albright of Hannacroix, Paul (Julia) Alix of Summerville, S.C., Debra (Joseph) Perino of Catskill, David (Jessica) Alix of Earlton; nine grandchildren, Susan (David) Stafford, Jeffrey Albright, John Paul (Michelle) Alix, Thomas (Allison) Alix, Sara Mae Smith, Brandon (Karoliane) Perino, Lori (Max) Rausch, Brian Perino, and Samantha Alix; eight great-grandchildren, Heather Albright, T.J. Born Jan. 13, 1954 in White Plains, he was the son of the late Michael and Ida M. Knott Ballou Sr.
An area resident for the past 14 years, he was a member of the Mt. Vernon Police Department Auxiliary Unit, a member of the Pop Warner Greene County Baseball League and an assistant coach. He also enjoyed hunting.
Survivors include two sister, Margaret Ballou of Yonkers, Westchester County, and Esther Ballou of Cairo; eight nieces and nephews; 24 great nieces and nephews; and two cousins.

LIVINGSTON – Benjamin W. Bartolotta, 91, died peacefully surrounded by his loving wife of 68 years, Elizabeth (Betty) Daly Bartolotta and his family on Jan. 23, at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson.
Ben, who was born in Livingston on July 1, 1914, was the oldest of 13.
Throughout his 91 years Bens’ love for his family and friends, his commitment to his community where he serves as supervisor for the Town of Livingston in 1950 to 1953 and again 1976 to 1981. He was the minority leader of the Columbia County Board of Supervisors and served as County Civil Service Commissioner and Director of Columbia County OTB. He served on the PIC Council for many years. During his political life he hosted receptions at his home for Congressman Joseph Resnick, Congressional Candidates gore Vidal and John Dyson. He was responsible for starting Hudson Valley Apple Day at the Capital in Washington and brought local farmers to meet with Vice President Hubert Humphrey.
Ben’s passion grew from his love of the family’s 600
acre Klein’s Kill Fruit Farm in Livingston.
The likes of Gene Sarazen used to stop by for “farming tips,”
He and his brothers and brother-in-law worked the earth and have provided
apples, peaches, pears, nectarines, prunes, pears and his special “grapes”
for families from Europe to South America, as well as throughout the country
including the top hotels in Las Vegas today.
For close to 60 years he was one of the largest Christmas tree dealers in the Northeast. He put trees up at the two World’s Fairs in New York City, and for 40 years the tree in front of the New York Stock Exchange. His wreaths, which were made at his home, graced St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Harry Winston Jewelers in New York City.
His commitment to serving others can be measured by the honors he has received throughout the years. He has been a member of the Germantown Lions Club for 65 years, receiving a Lifetime Membership Award in 1984. He was a major fundraiser and force behind the building of the Livingston Firehouse in 1950. He was a charter member of the Livingston Pumper Company 1. He was the first altar boy at the Church of the Nativity in Linlithgo. Lifelong member of the Hudson Elks and Knights of Columbus. For his 80th birthday, Assemblyman Faso and Supervisor Donald Kline and the Germantown Lion’s Club honored Ben with a tribute for a lifetime of achievements in Columbia County.
He is survived by his daughters Gloria (Frank) Santacroce of Livingston, Mary Lou (Robert) Connolly of Albany and Judith (Robert) Arthur of Palm Springs, Calif., his brothers Russell of Hudson, Phillip (Mary) of Hudson, Alfred (Cindy) of Livingston, Robert (Jenny) of Red Hook, and sisters Antoinette Egan of New York City, Marie (Louis) Conte of Hudson, Jessie (Armand) Conte of Livingston, Loretta (William) Barton of San Antonio, Texas, and June Decker of Syracuse and sister-in-law Mary (Brown) Bartolotta. He is survived by his precious grandchildren, Henry, Anthony and Christina Arthur of Palm Springs, Andrea of Monroe and Krista (David) Lebovitz and Jacob of Van Nuys, Calif., and cherished nieces and nephews and dear friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Antonio and Jessie Bartolotta, sisters: Beulah Delaney and Patty Bartolotta, and his brother Anthony.
For those wishing to celebrate Ben’s life, calling hours will be on Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Yadack-Fox Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Germantown. Members of the Hudson Elks Lodge will conduct services 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Started hairdressing business in Coxsackie
BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA – Ethel (Bonnie) Maisch, 84, born in Drouin, Victoria, Australia, died January 18, 2006 in Brisbane, Australia. She had many friends in Coxsackie and Hannacroix where she lived for many years.
She met her husband, Raymond Maisch, who was in the U.S. Army Air Corp. in Townsville, Queensland, Australia. She was in the Royal Australian Air Force, and both served in World War II. They were married in 1943. Her husband returned to the U.S. in 1945 and in 1946 she sailed to the States on a Liberty ship with other Australian was brides and war wounded. She settled in Queens, NY where her two sons were born. In 1957, she and her boys visited Australia, so they could meet her family.
After their return to the States, her and the boys came to live with the Peters family on their farm where they stayed happily until she started a hairdressing business in Coxsackie. They had a happy home life and many friends and were loved by all.
Both her sons, Harold and Donald, were in the service and had tours in Viet Nam and South Asia. Home sickness led her back to her roots, and she returned to Australia in the early ‘70’s. The boys followed after their discharges.
She is survived by her sons Donald Maisch of Tasmania and his two children Kin aged 24 and Simon aged 12 and Harold Maisch and his daughter Renee aged 22. Harold is now a ship’s captain and Donald is just finishing his PHD in Science and Technology in Radiation.
Bonnie was a kind and generous soul, loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed. Many of her friends visited her in Australia over the years.

RAVENA – LYLE c. Rexford, 72, of Ravena, died suddenly at his home on January 23, 2006.
He was born in Warrensburgh, on Feb. 4, 1933, the son of the late Louis and Ella R. (Drake) Rexford.
Lyle was a graduate of Coxsackie-Athens Central School, class of 1950, and served his country in the U.S. Military, with the 100th Ordinance Battalion from 1958-1960. He was also employed by Key Bank of Albany for over 43 years, retiring in 1994.
He was a member of the Elks Club and of The Key Corp Quarter Century Club.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lorraine (Jones) Rexford, of Ravena; two sons, Steven Rexford and wife Kristen, and James Rexford; a daughter, Janis Bailey and husband Christopher; grandchildren, Lauren and Kayla Rexford, and Alyssa and Ryan Bailey. Also surviving are many cousins and nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by a sister Beatrice, a brother James and twin brother LaRoy.
Funeral services will take place Friday at 1 p.m. at the W.C. Brady’s Sons, Inc. Funeral Home, 97 Mansion Street, Coxsackie, with the Rev. Retta Lykens, Pastor of the Cairo United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will follow in the family plot of the Riverside Cemetery, with full military honors.

COXSACKIE – Hazel Owens Bannon, 95, of Coxsackie, died at her home after a long series of illnesses.
Born in Granville in 1911 the daughter of Welsh immigrants.
Mrs. Bannon was a graduate of Granville High School. She was married in Glens Falls to Robert A. Bannon (now deceased). She retired from the state where she served as secretary to the solicitor general and her administrative assistant, during the Rockefeller administration. Previously she was a personnel secretary at the Glens Falls Hospital, and was administrative assistant to the editor and chief of Farm Journal magazine. She held assorted secretarial jobs, since her graduation from Mildred Ellie, where Mildred Ellie and her husband “pops” were among her teachers. Mrs. Bannon lived for many years in Glens Falls, as well as Wyndmore, Pa., and Albany. She retired to Glenville, before moving to Coxsackie.
She is survived by three children, David A. Bannon, his wife Frances, of Glenville, Carol Keenan, her husband, John, of Pittsfield, Mass., and Charles R. Bannon, of Coxsackie. She is the grandmother to seven grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Also two nieces and several cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, George Brink, Jr., son Charles Brink, grandson Michael Brink, and four sisters and four brothers.

Born in Canada on May 9, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Theophili and Monique (Cote) Lussier.
Estelle has been an area resident since 1981, and was a communicant of the Sacred Heart Church in Cairo. She was bilingual and was very well known in the Greene County Department of Tourism. She was employed by the Greene County Department of Tourism.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Cairo Hose Company.
She loved taking care of her grandchildren and was an excellent cook. She liked to go to Mohican Sun, and she also liked to knit.
Survivors include a son, Allen Auger and his wife Barbara of Cairo; five daughters, Linda Blakslee and husband Brian of Concord, VT, Carole Selner and husband Joe of Round Top, Doric Shastany of Acra, Diane Bartholomew and Husband Steve of Freehold, Rachel Campbell and husband Gary of Round Top; a brother Rene Lussier of Quebec, Canada; a sister, Angela Ouimet of Barrie BT; 11 grandchildren; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and a dear friend Paul White of Catskill.
She was predeceased by her husband, Emile J. Auger, on August 4, 2004.

Born July 20, 1922 in Cairo, he was the son of the late Frank and Anna (Snyder) Barlow.
Mr. Barlow served during World War II in the U.S. Army in Central Europe and the Rhineland where he received the Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, Army of Occupation Medal and the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal.
He was employed as an electronics technician with Sperry-Rand in Lake Success, Long Island, prior to his retirement.
He enjoyed bowling and was a member of several seniors groups.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Edgar and Juana Barlow of Lake Ronkonkoma, Long Island; a daughter, Vaika “Vicky” Poole of Climax; six grandchildren, Edward Barlow, Susan Brusp, Brian Poole, Robert Poole, Richard Poole and Valerie Bernabo Poole; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Incerpi was the past-matron and member of the Order of Eastern Star and a member of the Catskill Germania Club.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Renato (Robert) and Paula Incerpi of Bonita Springs, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews in the United States and Germany.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gino A. Incerpi, on May 8, 1990; and a sister, Hildegard Duerhing.
There will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Traver & McCurry Funeral Home, 234 Jefferson Heights, Catskill with the Rev. James E. Clark, pastor of St. Patrick’s RC Church of Catskill, officiating.
Interment will follow at the town of Catskill Cemetery.
