Loving Mother

CAIRO---Patricia C. Keehner, 64, of Elizabeth Terrace, Cairo, died March 30, 2005 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany. 

She was born in Queens, N.Y., Sept 9, 1940, and was the daughter of the late Roger and Edith (Kurtz) Smith.

She has been an area resident for two years. She loved to work puzzles and crossword puzzles and she loved to collect lighthouses.

Survivors include a son, Robert K. Keehner of Ferndale, N.Y., two daughters, Darlene McGovern of Mastic, N.Y., and Deborah Keehner of Marlboro, N.Y., and step-daughter Joann VonHolan of Babylon, N.Y., step-daughter Chris Busterna of St. Augustine, FL, a brother, Roger Smith of Holbrook, N.Y., two sisters, Eileen Handler of Cairo, and Edith Bogart of Clifton Park, N.Y., also survived by 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Besides her mother and father, she is predeceased by a daughter, Denise Marie Keehner.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Saturday, from the Richards Funeral Home, Bross St., Cairo.

Funeral services will take place 8 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home, with Rev. Fr. J. Nunan, Pastor of the Sacred Heart Church of Cairo, officiating.

Private cremation services will take place on Monday at the Albany Rural Crematorium in Menands.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, N.Y. 12211. Envelopes may be obtained at the funeral home for your convenience.

Former Catskill resident

RALEIGH, N.C. ---Joseph Michael Meyer, 94, died March 23, 2005 at Universal Health Care Center in Raleigh, N.C.

Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Catskill for about 35 years and recently moved to Raleigh. Mr. Meyer was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Pacific Theater.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Marion Hanel Meyer; sons Robert J. Meyer of Manassas, VA and John C. Meyer of Rochester, N.Y.; daughter Barbara Moen of Raleigh, N.C.; grandchildren, Keylan Sarkus, Patrick Moen, and Kara Cook all of Raleigh, and Andrew Meyer, Rachel Meyer and Lauren Meyer, all of Rochester, and five great- grandchildren.

A funeral service was held March 26 in the chapel of Raleigh Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Volunteer fireman

SAUGERTIES---Earl J. Martin, Sr., 88, of 155 Main Street and formerly of Valley Street, died Friday, April 1, 2005 at the Eden Park Nursing Home in Catskill after a lengthy illness.

Born Feb. 5, 1917 in Catskill, he was the son of the late William and Ida Peirman Martin.

A lifetime area resident, he was employed for many years at the Cantine Paper Mill as an electrician.

He was a veteran of World War 11 where he served in the United States Army and was awarded the Purple Heart, the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with two Bronze Service Stars, and the Good Conduct Medal.

He was an active member of the Saugerties Fire Department, where he served as Chief in 1963. He was a life member of C.A. Lynch Hose Company and a life member of the Washington Hook and Ladder Company. He was a member of the Saugerties Exempts Fireman’s association, the Hudson Valley Volunteer Fireman’s Association and the Ulster County Volunteer Fireman’s Association. He served as the C.A. Lynch Santa Claus for area youngsters at Christmas for over 25 years.

He was a 50-year member of the Saugerties American Legion Post #72 and a member of the Malden Dock Club.

He was predeceased by his first wife Margaret in 1975 and his second wife Freda in 2005. He was also predeceased by three brothers, Kenneth, Arthur, and Charles Martin, and two sisters, Mary DeCarmine and Theresa Hennessee.

Survivors include his son, Earl J. Martin, Jr. of Saugerties; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 4 at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc., corner of John and Lafayette Streets.

Interment with military honors by the Saugerties American Legion Post # 72 and the firematic honors by the Saugerties Fire Department will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saugerties.

JANICE LOUISE JONES
“Tookie”

CATSKILL---Janice Louise Jones of Catskill died Wednesday, March 30, 2005 after a long illness

Born on Jan. 12, 1956 in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Amelia Marjorie Jones. From the day she was born, she was nicknamed “Tookie”.

Her formative years were spent in Coeymans, where she accepted Jesus as her personal savior at a young age and was baptized at the Riverview Missionary Baptist Church. At Riverview, Janice was an active member of the Sunday school, Youth Ministries and sang in both the Junior and Youth Choirs. In 1971, her family relocated to Catskill.

Janice graduated from Catskill High School in 1974. She furthered her education at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, South Carolina and also attended Columbia-Greene Community College.

In 1994, Janice was diagnosed with kidney failure and became a candidate for kidney transplant. Her youngest brother, Officer Andrew D. Jones of the Catskill Police Department, was tested and became the primary donor. On January 16, 1996 the transplant operation took place at Albany Medical Center.

Before being placed on disability, Janice was employed at the Giving Tree Day Care Center in Catskill. Throughout her illness, she stayed active in her church and community. Janice joined Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Albany in 1998. At Morning Star, she sang in the choir and was a member of the Morning Star Ensemble.

She was a faithful member of the Hudson River Frontier Missionary Baptist Association until her illness made it impossible to participate on a regular basis. In the Association, Janice served as President and Vice president of the Sunday School and Baptist Training Union Auxiliary.

Janice sang with the Treble Choraliers of Catskill. She also sang at weddings. She was the cheerleading advisor for Catskill High School for a number of years and a volunteer with the Catskill Community Center Drum and Drill Team.

Janice loved watching television and especially loved “Lifetime” movies, Bruce Lee movies and Star Trek. A romantic at heart, she was an avid Harlequin romance reader. She loved to crochet and knit and complete word searches and crossword puzzles. While residing at Greene County Long Term Care, Janice passed the time painting by numbers. She was fond of her Teddy bear and could be seen with him most of the time. She also loved collecting clowns.

Janice is survived by her daughter Shawna Renee Jones of Catskill; her sisters Sandra T. McCreary and her husband Larry of Landover, Maryland, Kimberly G. Jones-Holt of Catskill and Roxanne Jones Booth and her husband Antonio of Nashua, New Hampshire; her brothers, Samuel-Moses Jones of New York City and Andrew D. Jones and his wife Kim of Catskill; two dear and loving aunts, Mrs. Zelda Foy Mrs. Forrest Ann Jones; adopted sisters Elaine Grant and Euodias Thorpe; god-brothers Kyle and Wesley Harris; god-daughter Theresa Vantassle; best friends Eleanor Erceg Diller and Patty Vantassle special lifelong friend Walter “Butch” Brandow; dear and special great-nephew Desante Holt, whom she cared for like a son; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a supporting and caring church family.

Relatives and friends may call at the Second Missionary Baptist Church on Main Street in Catskill on Tuesday, April 5 from 10 a.m. to noon. Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday at the church.

Interment will follow at the Town of Catskill Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Traver and McCurry Funeral Home of Catskill.

NEW PORT RICHEY---Vincent J. Meo, 81, of New Port Richey, FL, died March 25, 2005 at Gulfside Regional Hospice, New Port Richey, FL.

Born in Catskill, July 11, 1924, he was the son of the late Vincent and Jenny (Vitola) Meo.

Mr. Meo was a retired self-employed hairdresser. He was the owner and operator of the Cairo Beauty Mark. He moved to Florida 10 years ago. He was an Army veteran of World War 11, and a Purple Heart recipient. He was an avid golfer.

Survivors include his wife Elvira Meo of New Port Richey, FL; daughter Denise Nelson of New Port Richey; three brothers, Joseph Meo of Catskill, Frank Meo of Brooklyn, and Louis Meo of Albany; two sisters, Philomena Cimineri of Clyde, NY and Angelina Meo of Catskill; three grandchildren, and cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, John Meo and Dan Meo.

Funeral services were held under the direction of the Arlington Funeral Home, New Port Richey, FL.

CATSKILL---Agnes Ruth Sutherland Stewart, 97, of Brooks Lane, Catskill died Thursday, March 17, 2005 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson.

Born on Dec. 13, 1907 in Marbletown, NY, she was the daughter of the late Simon and Laura (Wood) Sutherland.

Agnes was an employee of J.J. Newberry’s and A & P Food Market in Catskill. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Catskill Senior Fellowship; Eastern Star; and a live member of the Catskill Elks Lodge Auxiliary.

She was predeceased by her husband Raymond Stewart on Aug. 27, 1977; two brothers, Herbert and Oscar Sutherland; two sisters, Frances Bates and Margaret Sutherland; one grandson, Bruce Amos; and a stepdaughter, Florence Parvi.

Survivors include three sisters, Bessie Sherman, Thelma Sutherland and Alice Powell, all of Catskill; two brothers, Percy Sutherland and Norman Sutherland, both of Catskill; one daughter, Doris Ritenour of Danville, VA; two stepdaughters, Catherine Cole of Kingston and Rae Maouris of Kingston; four granddaughters and many  great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 6 at North Marbletown Cemetery. The Rev. Russell Sargent will be officiating.

Memorials in Agnes’ name may be made to the United Methodist Church of Catskill Memorial Fund, or Community Hospice of Columbia-Greene.

Funeral services are under the direction of Traver & McCurry Funeral Home of Catskill.

FREEHOLD---Dennis K. Lyons, 73 of Sunny Hill Road, Freehold, died April 2, 2005 after a long illness.

He was born in Brooklyn June 19, 1931 and was the son of the late Dennis and Lillian (McGrath) Lyons.

Mr. Lyons had been an area resident for the past six years. He was a communicant of the Sacred Heart Church and Our Lady of Knock Shrine.

He loved watching the History channel and reading.

Mr. Lyons also served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife Mary E. (Mahon) Lyons of Albany; Daniel of New York City, Gerard of Florida, Paul of Freehold, Vincent of Georgia, four step-daughters, Kathleen of Florida, Veronica of Brooklyn, Joan-Marie of Maine, Michele of Freehold, two brothers, James Lyons of Queens, Robert of Florida, two sisters, Carol and Eileen, as well as 12 step grandchildren.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the Richards Funeral Home, 383 Bross St., Cairo.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Knock Shrine of Route 145 in East Durham, with Rev. Fr. J. Nunan, Pastor, the celebrant.

Interment will follow in the Saratoga National Cemetery.

COXSACKIE---Donald C. Pelton, 68, of Climax, died Tuesday, March 29 at his home.

Born Nov. 8, 1936, he was the son of Arthur C. and Catherine Berney Pelton.

Mr. Pelton attended St. John’s Academy, Rensselaer.

He was a machinist by trade and was retired at the time of his death.

When he lived in Albany, he attended Our Lady Help of Christian’s Church. For many years he was active in the Boy Scouts Troop 70. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing. For several years he played trumpet in his brother Arthur’s band.

He was employed as a machine operator for many years at Shaffer Brewery in Albany.

Survivors include his brother, Arthur Pelton Sr. of Sand Lake, his brother-in-law, Ray Cohen, nephew, Arthur Pelton Jr. niece, Sgt. Dandra J. Pelton, his son, and several grandchildren.

Mr. Pelton was predeceased by his sister, Kathleen Pelton Cohen.

PICKERINGTON, Ohio---Irene (Holdridge) Haas of Pickerington, Ohio, died Friday, April 1, 2005 at Winchester Place Nursing Home.

Born Dec. 1, 1922 in South Cairo to the late Charles and Ethel (Perry) Holdridge. She has been a resident of Pickerington for five years.

She retired as Secretary to the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local Union # 232 in Fort Edward in December 1987 after 34 years of service.

She was formerly a member of Fort Edward Chapter # 372 O.E.S. and Battle Hill Chapter # 260. She was a past District Deputy Grand Matron of the Warren-Washington District O.E.S. serving in 1977.

Survivors include two daughters, Rhonda Clark and her husband Ted of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Cindy Frobel and her husband Paul of Pickerington, three grandchildren, Meghan, Andrew and Heidi Frobel of Pickerington; a brother Floyd Holdridge and his wife, Helen of Catskill; a sister Hilda Rogers and her husband Tom of Cairo, a niece and two nephews.

Mrs. Haas was predeceased by her husband Lester on Feb. 25, 1998.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association or the charity of choice.

JAMES PETER NARDO
World War 11 veteran

CATSKILL—James Peter Nardo, 87, native of Catskill died Sunday, April 3, at Eden Park Health Care Center where he had been a patient since December.

He was born Sept. 22, 1917 to the late Dominic and Mary Simione Nardo. He was a graduate of St. Patrick’s Academy Class of 1936 and enlisted in the U.S. Army on Feb. 9, 1942.

A Sergeant with the Reconnaissance NCO, he served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations with the 149th Infantry Regiment, 38th Division making estimates in distance of enemy and enemy emplacements for the directing of mortar fire and served in three campaigns earning the American Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Philippines Liberation Ribbon.

Upon his return in 1945, he resumed his occupation with John Marsh’s Grocery Store on Main Street and eventually became the owner.

Survivors include his daughter, Mary Ann Haller of Davidson, N.C., grandson, 2nd Lt. Jonathon Robert Haller of Norfolk, VA, granddaughter, Alicia Kaye Haller-Fisher of Davidson, N.C.; grandson-in-law, Specialist Dustin Fisher, serving in Iraq, sister, Antoinette Nardo of Thompson Street, Catskill, brother, John Nardo of Catskill; sister-in-law Antoinette Nardo of Home Sweet Home in Catskill, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Nardo was predeceased by his wife, Lorraine Roberts Nardo on Dec. 26, 1960; his brother Joseph Nardo and sister Mary Ricci.

Calling hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home, 139 Jefferson Heights in Catskill.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church where he was a faithful parishioner.

Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

CATSKILL---Carolyn M. Yager, 91, Native of Catskill, died Thursday, March 31, at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson where she had been a patient since March 25.

She had previously been a resident of Eden Park Health Care Center following the death of her brother, Harry Yager, with whom she resided in Kiskatom.

Miss Yager was born June 15, 1913 to the late Harry R. and Etta Hauver Yager.

She was a homemaker and member of the kiskatom Fire Company’s Ladies Auxilliary.

Survivors include three nieces: Mrs. Gordon (Barbara) Craw of Saugerties; Mrs. Jane Freese of Catskill; Mrs. Paula Strang of New Paltz; her nephew, Gerald N. Yager Jr. of Poughkeepsie; as well as several great-nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Yager was predeceased by her sister, Mrs. Walter (Frances) Wolven and two brothers: Gerald N. Yager Sr. and Harry H. Yager.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday April 6, in the Remembrance Chapel of the Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home, 139 Jefferson Heights in Catskill, with the Rev. Frank Cirone, Pastor of the Grace Bible Fellowship Church in Rhinebeck officiating.

Calling hours will be at the funeral home from noon on Wednesday.

Interment will follow in the Town of Catskill Cemetery.

COXSACKIE---Edith V. Cameron, 78, of Windsor, VT, and Coxsackie, died April 5, 2005, at Mt. Ascutney Hospital, Windsor, VT, where she has resided since 1993.

Mrs. Cameron was born March 5, 1927 to the late George and Edith Fullerton in Tilton, NH.

She was married to the late Manley D. Blaisdell of So. Royalton, VT. She met and married the late Daniel A. Cameron and was a resident of Coxsackie for 35 years.

She is the beloved sister of Alice King of Windsor, VT, and the late George Fullerton of Unity, NH, the late Wendell Wood of Tilton, NH, the late Samuel Fullerton of Covina, CA, the late Lawrence Fullerton of Windsor, VT, the late Maida (Skippy) Brown of Huntington Beach, CA, and the late Nettie Keay of Windsor, VT.

She was the loving mother of Richard Allen Blaisdell and his wife Faith of Chesterk, VT, Donna Jean Little of Watervliet, Suzanne Oathout and her husband, Ronald of Cobleskill, John William Blaisdell of Jacksonville, FL, and stepmother to Manley C. Blaisdell (Mickey) and his wife Linda of Chester, VT. She was the most adored “Grammy” to nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, as well as aunt to many nieces and nephews.

She was a loving friend and companion to Chester (Chet) LaPine of Windsor, VT. She was loved by many friends who will remember her vibrant spirit and quick sense of humor and a kind and giving heart.

Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. at the W.C. Brady’s Funeral Home, 97 Mansion Street, Coxsackie,

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, April 8, from the funeral home.

Private cremation will take place at the Albany Rural crematorium.

EAST DURHAM---Robert A. Dean Sr., 63, of East Durham, died April 4, 2005 at the Stratton V.A. Medical Center in Albany.

He was born in St. Albans, Queens, on Nov. 26, 1941, son of the late Bernard and Mary (Riley) Dean.

Mr. Dean served his country during the Vietnam War. He had a Bachelor’s Degree in the Criminal Justice field and served on the New York City Police force for 25 years until his retirement.

He was a member and past Commander of the Durham Valley American Legion Post 1416, a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and past member of the Emerald Society. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Knock Shrine.

Survivors are his wife Marie (Tagliavia) Dean of East Durham, a son, Robert A. Dean Jr., a daughter, Denise Dean  both of Albany, two brothers, Charles Dean of Freeport, L.I., NY, and Patrick Dean of Finksburg, MD, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Dean was predeceased by six brothers, William, Bernard, John, Thomas, David and Raymond.

Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 Route 81, Greenville.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday from funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Knock Shrine in East Durham.

Interment will be in the Winston Cemetery.

RONNIE FEDERMAN
Loving son and brother

FOREST HILLS---Ronnie Federman of Forest Hills, NY, died Thursday, March 31 at home after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on April 8, 1958, Ronnie was the loving son of Adele and Dr. Bernard Federman. Ronnie was the brother of Debra Murphy and Larry Federman, loving uncle to Emma, Aaron, and Teal. In addition to family, Ronnie will be greatly missed by his many devoted friends.

Although Ron fought and lost his battle with cancer, his memory will live on in the music he so much loved. He brought the gift of music to all who knew him. Throughout his illness “The Music Never Stopped”.

Ronnie was an amazingly intelligent, witty and caring person. He always found humor in situations, even when it came to his illness.

A private ceremony was held at the home of his parents. Donations may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.

Loving grandmother

CAIRO---Rose Santoro, 89, of Gioia Drive, Cairo, died April 2, 2005 at the Osceola Medical Center in Kissimmee, FL after a brief illness.

She was born in Brooklyn, April 25, 1919 and was the daughter of the late Michael and Lucy Saraniero.

Mrs. Santoro has been an area resident for over 28 years. She attended Sacred Heart Church and the First Baptist Church in Catskill.

She loved to crochet and attend meetings at the Acra Nutrition Center. She admired all of her grandchildren, especially her great-grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter Mrs. Peter (Lucille) Gioia of Cairo, a brother Michael Saroniero of Brooklyn, a sister, Lucy Roentini of Brooklyn, also surviving are six grandchildren, Thomas Stephens, Karen Beck, Mark Stephens, Barbara Jobson, Peter and Robert Gioia.

Mrs. Santoro is predeceased by her husband Albert J. Santoro, a daughter, Angela Stephens and granddaughter, Roseann Stephens.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Richards Funeral Home, Bross St., Cairo.

Funeral services will take place 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Catskill, with the Rev. Rick Snowdon officiating.

The day of the funeral everyone is asked to meet at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, Grandview Ave.

Interment will follow next to her late husband in the family plot of the Cairo Cemetery.

BOWIE, MD---Louise Gallo McDermott, 92, died at Woodward Estate in Bowie, MD on April 2, 2005 after a period of declining health.

Mrs. McDermott a native of Brooklyn was the daughter of the late Augustine (Jimmy) and Vincenza ( Jenny) Esposito Gallo.

Part of her early years were spent at St. Agatha’s Home for Children in Nanuet, NY, while her mother was recovering from tuberculosis.

She came to Catskill as a teenager to assist with the care of her mother and her youngest sister.

She attended St. Patrick’s Academy, completing high school in three years. She graduated as the valedictorian of the class of 1929.

After working for one year at Metropolitan Life in New York City, Louise returned to Catskill as the bride of Richard J. McDermott. Their home was the center of extended family gatherings over the years.

In addition to her involvement in church and school activities, she was a long time, dedicated Brownie leader. Louise moved to Durham, NC 35 years ago where she managed an active senior center. Following her retirement, she resided in Danville, VA, Guilderland, NY, and more recently, Bowie, MD. Louise was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard McDermott in 1961.

Survivors include her daughters, Evelyn (Ernest) Lail of Colonie and Mary Louise Lopez of Falls Church, VA, her chosen daughter Barbara McGuire of Hyattsville, MD, nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister Jean Cormerais of Long Island and her brother Raymond (Therese) Gallo of Victoria, B.C.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter Lucille, her son, Richard and her sisters, Antoinette Schultz and Angelina Gallo.

Graveside service at the family plot in the old section of St. Patrick’s Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Frances Louise (Millett) Kummer of Coxsackie died on Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at Albany Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

She was born Oct. 6, 1933.

Frances (Sis) was a lifelong Coxsackie resident. She worked out of her home for many years as a homemaker and babysitter. An avid walker, she could be seen all over Coxsackie and the outskirts, setting a brisk pace. Her beautiful smile and presence will be greatly missed. She will remain in our hearts forever.

She was predeceased by her husband, John H. Kummer.

Sis is survived by her three children, Joyce A. Kummer of Cortland, Linda L. Witbeck of Ravena, and Ernst L. Kummer of Standish, CA; two sisters, Armeta Cozza of Hudson and Lenora Gabriel of Stottville; three grandchildren, Danielle Kummer, and Justin and Travis Witbeck; and four great-grandchildren, Carson, Shawn and Maverick Witbeck and Brooklyn Schmidt.

Arnold Lampman, 81, of Route 23B Leeds, died Thursday evening, April 7, 2005 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson.

Born on Nov. 27, 1923 in Leeds, he was the son of the late Stephen and Anna (Kromholz) Lampman.

Arnold attended the Leeds School. He served in the United States Army Air Corps as a B-24 Aircraft Tailgunner during WW11 and was stationed in the African European Theater of Operations. Arnold Participated in and completed 50 bombardments sorties over occupied Europe prior to his discharge as a Staff Sergeant in 1945.

He was an employee of Grumman-Olsen Bodies of West Athens for 31 years prior to his retirement. He later worked for Dynabil for two and a half years before retiring permanently in 1985. He was a Past Fire Chief of the Leeds Fire Company and a member of the VFW Post 7229 in Greenville.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jennie ( Zeisner) Lampman of Leeds; three nieces: Jacqueline A. Meehan and husband Jerry of West Babylon, Susan Lampman of Leeds and Veronica Bowen and husband William of Sayville, NY; and numerous cousins.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Chauncey and Stephen Lampman.

Relatives and friends may call at Traver & McCurry Funeral Home, 234 Jefferson Heights, Catskill on Sunday, April 10 from 2 to 6 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 11 at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Retta Lykens, Pastor of the Methodist Church of South Cairo, will be officiating.

RED CREEK---Kathleen J. Musial, 49, of Red Creek, NY, formerly of Coxsackie, died at her residence on Friday, April 8, 2005.

Born in Troy, she was the daughter of George L. and Frances R. Brooke Locke of Red Creek.

Kathleen was a graduate of Coxsackie-Athens High School and graduated Cum Laude from SUNY Potsdam. She was a school teacher. She loved children and was president of the Red Creek PTA and served on the Red Creek School Improvement Team.

She was a member of the Lighthouse Community Fellowship in Red Creek, had been active in Girl Scouting and was a former member of the D.M. Hamilton Steamers Ladies Auxiliary.

On Dec. 29, 1978, she married Stephen Musial.

In addition to her devoted husband and her parents, she is survived by four loving children: Stephanie Musial of Oswego, NY and Mary Kathleen Musial, Nathaniel Musial and Christopher Musial, all of Red Creek; four brothers: Leslie Locke of Troy, David Locke of Coxsackie, James Locke of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; a sister, Susanne Williams of Daytona Beach, FL; In-laws, Joseph and Dianna Musial of Coxsackie; aunts and uncles and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Locke in 1972.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 10 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Colvin-Robertson-Norton Funeral Home, 5925 New Hartford St., Wolcott, NY. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday at 6 p.m. at the Lighthouse Community Fellowship Church, 3483 Route 89, South Butler.

Born in Milwaukee, WI, she had been a resident of the Capital Region for several years and was a homemaker.

Survivors include a sister, Elizabeth Mason of New Moriches, LI, and one brother, Harry Henke of Purling. She was the dear friend of James and Winnie Stevens of East Greenbush.

Mrs. Hasselman was predeceased by her parents Bernard and Mary (Fischer) Henke and her husband Charles V. Hasselman Jr., sisters, Marion Algosszine and Millie Collins and two brothers, Bernard and Fritz Henke.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer, NY.

Interment will be in Greenbush Cemetery in East Greenbush.

CATSKILL---Edwin Louis Mensching, 78, of Catskill, died Sunday, April 10, 2005 at Columbia-Greene long Term Care where he had been a patient since last June.

Born March 22, 1927, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Caroline W. Chewins Mensching.

Mr. Mensching graduated from Catskill High School and enlisted in the US Army in 1942. He served with the Squadron “C” 1103 Army Air Force and the 1391st earning the rank of corporal upon his discharge in 1947. He married the former Marion M. MacLaughlin in October 1949. He was a correctional officer in Coxsackie prior to becoming a locksmith and proprietor of Ed’s Lockservice in Catskill. He was a member of Hose Co. 1.

Survivors include his wife, Marion M. Mensching of Catskill and their four children and six grandchildren; two sisters, Carol Mann and Ann Van Der Beck ; two brothers, Charles Mensching and Thomas Chewins, all of Catskill.

Private cremation was conducted at the Albany Rural Crematorium under the direction of the Millpaugh Camerato Funeral Home, 139 Jefferson Heights, Catskill.

There will be no formal services and no calling hours.

Ms. Morelock was a graduate of Hunter College, NY and Sir George William University of Montreal, Canada. She began her career as an early childhood teacher and assistant principal at Faith Christian Academy in Stottville, NY. She later worked as a broker for local real estate agencies. For the last five years she worked as a rehabilitation counselor for Northeast Career Planning. She enjoyed traveling with her daughters and antiquing.

Survivors include her mother, Mary T. Pace; two daughters, Mary H. Morelock and Jessica J. Morelock, both of Hudson; a sister, Angela M. Pace and brother-in-law John M. Leonardson, both of Hudson; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her former husband, George Morelock.

Calling hours will be 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Valenti & Richards Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Hudson.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon Thursday at Nativity/ St. Mary’s Church, Route 9, Stuyvesant Falls with Fr. Frank O’Conner officiating.

SAUGERTIES---Donald Wolven, 87, of Ulster Avenue, Saugerties, died Sunday morning, April 10, 2005 at Benedictine Hospital in Kingston.

Born Jan. 13, 1918 in Saugerties, he was the son of the late William and Martina (Becker) Wolven.

Mr. Wolven attended Saugerties schools and graduated in 1936. He served in the United States Army in WW11 with duty in Europe with the 94th Infantry Division.

He was employed for many years by Lezette Express of Saugerties, United Baking Company of Schenectedy, and the Saugerties Central Schools before retiring.

He was a 60 year member of the Lamouree Hackett American Legion Post 72, Saugerties and a member of the Saugerties Sports Hall of Fame since his introduction in 1976.

He was a lifelong member of the Trinity Episcopal Church of Saugerties.

Survivors include his son Barry and wife Sara of Catskill, grandson, Scott and his wife Megan, and grandson, William. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and his lifelong friend Harold Shaler of Saugerties.

Mr. Wolven was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Lezette Wolven in 2001.

Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, 45 John Street, Saugerties.

He loved hunting, fishing, and was employed as a heavy equipment mechanic for Birch Hill Ent.

Besides his mother, survivors include his wife, Allyson (Donahue) Holbrook; two sons, William Jr. and Timothy; a sister Nancy of Rensselaer; a brother Harry and his wife Debbie of Milford; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother Larry in 1998.

She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth.

COXSACKIE---Steve Ondrek, 81, of Coxsackie, died Monday, April 11, 2005 at the St. Peter’s Hospice Inn in Albany.

Born July 23, 1923 in Alcove, he was the son of the late Harry and Helena (Pericek) Ondrek.

Mr. Ondrek was a self-employed automotive mechanic at Ondrek’s Garage until his retirement and had worked at Hass Garage in Coxsackie prior to starting his own business. He loved helping people and fixing things. He also loved outdoor animal friends, feeding and taking care of all of them.

Survivors include his wife Isabelle (Degrace) Ondrek of Coxsackie; his stepchildren, Marguerite Nichol, Georgette Galvin, Richard Colombe; five stepgrandchildren, five step great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his first wife Elsie (Smith) Ondrek; two brothers, Joseph and John Ondrek; and a sister, Helen Ondrek.

GREENVILLE---Donald W. Powell Sr. 83 died March 32, 2005 after a courageous fight with cancer at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany.

Mr. Powell served in the US Navy, First Marine Division Seabees “paving the way to Japan” based in Guadalcanal from 1942-1945. While serving in the Navy he traveled through Cuba, Panama, Balboa, New Caledonia, Australia, New Guinea, and Coodenough Island.

He was extremely proud to have a grandson currently serving in the Marines.

Mr. Powell was a long-time resident of the town of Greenville and many will remember Powell Oil Burner Service, his many years umpiring for the Community Youth League and sponsoring a local bowling team.

He retired from the New York State Department of Transportation in 1983.

Survivors include his brother Cliff Powell Sr. of Leeds, four children; Marjorie Powell of Niskayuna, Donny Powell of South Waterloo, Dian Spinner of Hannacroix, and Scott Powell of Cornwallville; and four grandchildren, JC and Jodi Powell and Dan and Renee Spinner.

Formerly of New Jersey and the Bronx, Mrs. Perrino had been a Palenville area resident since 1970.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Anthony T. Perrino of Palenville; four children, Joh Perrino and his wife Donna of South Cairo, Jane Bartello and her husband Anthony of Orchard Park, Mary Potter and her husband Dan of Hannacroix, Amy Schmidt and her husband Edward of Colorado Springs, CO; 23 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by a son, Robert Perrino, June 9, 2004; a brother, Charles Allison; and a sister, Mildred Lamond.

She was educated in the Europe, was active in musical choirs and played the organ.

Survivors include her two sons, Werner E. Buhrke and Herbert H. Buhrke, both of Catskill; two daughters, Regina Bulich and husband Antone of Leeds, and Helga Watts and husband Robert of Fort Pierce, FL, and 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Buhrke was predeceased by her husband Erich C. Buhrke on Sept. 12, 1985.

Mrs. Candrilli graduated from Kingston High School and worked in the Kingston Knitting Mills then worked at G. E. in Schenectady as a photo technician.

She married her husband, Joseph Candrilli of Schenectady in December 1958.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph Candrilli of Schenectady, two daughters, Violet M. (Robert) Forget of Watervliet and Robin M. (Dale) Vunk of Broadalbin, NY, mother, Esther Kish Vitarius of Ulster Park, two sisters, Mary Beatty of Cairo and Vivian Robert of Rifton: a brother, Fred Vitarius of Rosendale, a sister, Carol Nelson of Paris, Ind, four brothers, James Vitarius of Norwich, William Vitarius of Shandaken, Julius Vitarius  of New Paltz, Joseph Vitarius of Gardner, two sisters, Pamela Vitarius of Saugerties and Debbie Vitarius of Ulster Park, four grandchildren, Jamie Greenwood, Jennifer Loughlin, Jessica Loughlin and Gregory Vunk, and several nieces and nephews.

Born April 19, 1911, he was the son of Mel and Anna Pack Pramberger in Fileppovo, Yugoslavia.

He was an avid fisherman and gardener. He was a shoemaker in Queens, NY.

He was predeceased by his daughter Heidi Drake.

WW11 American Red Cross rep and local school nurse

CATSKILL---Margaret (Peg) I. Somerville, 92, of Catskill, died Tuesday, April 13, 2005 at Columbia-Greene Long Term Care where she had been a patient for the last two and a half years.

Peg was born Feb. 27, 1913, in West Hoboken, NJ. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Mabel (Moore) Somerville.

She was a resident of Catskill, NY since 1923.

Peg attended Hartwick College and obtained her nursing degree from the Albany Hospital, now Albany Medical Center.

In June 1941, while employed as a nurse at the Albany Hospital, Peg was chosen as part of the Red Cross Harvard Hospital in England. Soon after she embarked on her overseas voyage onboard the M.S Vigrid. En route to England, The Vigrid experienced a disasterous U-boat attack. Peg survived 19 days adrift on a lifeboat fighting off freezing cold temperatures and starvation. Near the end of the war, the American Red Cross recognized Peg for her “faithful and meritorious performance of humanitarian service overseas”.

After recuperating in a London hospital, Peg returned home to Catskill where she became a nurse for the Coxsackie-Athens School District until her retirement.

She was a member of the New York State United Teachers Association and devoted her time to helping others, including delivering Meals on Wheels to the homebound.

She was a member of the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and also attended the United Methodist Church, both in Catskill.

Survivors include her one nephew, great nieces and nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her dear and faithful friend Edith Bentley and family.

Peg selflessly chose to donate her remains to the anatomical gift program, for education and scientific purposes, at the Albany Medical College.

Memorial donations may be made to the Community Hospice of Columbia-Greene.

JORDAN, NY---Hillis E. Quick, 86, of Jordan, NY died April 6, 2005.

He was the beloved son of the late Edson and Bessie Weisgarver Quick of East Jewett and Sarasota, FL.

Mr. Quick was a graduate of the Hunter-Tannersville High School class of 1938. He graduated from Miami University, Miami, Ohio. He taught school at Windham High School before entering the Air Force during WW11. He was a B-17 pilot and flew many missions over the European theater. He received numerous commendations, medals and awards, including two Purple Hearts and the Distinguished Flying Cross.

After leaving the service, he flew commercial airlines to India. He later entered the State University of Michigan where he received his masters in education. He taught school at Jordan Elbridge High School where he retired as principal. He loved all sports, especially basketball which he played in high school. Another of his passions was golf. He was an avid reader and loved music.

He was a devoted husband of the former Olive Merwin of East Jewett. He was also predeceased by a sister, Doris Lord of Southington, CT.

Survivors include two sons, Greg (Janice Quick) of Jordan, NY and Steve of Texas; a daughter, Sally of Salem, MA; three grandchildren, Tommy, Stacy and Stephanie Quick; a brother, Jack from Swansboro, NC; two sisters, Elsie Perkins of Catskill and Alida Spairana of Troy; and several nieces and nephews.

HOUSTON, TX---Oscar S. Way 111, 78, formerly of Catskill and New Baltimore, died Dec. 4, 2004 in Houston, TX.

He was the son of the late Oscar Way, Jr. and Mildred Whittaker Way.

He was a veteran of the U.S.Army, and married Ingeborg Winkler while stationed in Vienna, Austria.

Oscar worked for more than 20 years as a guard at the Coxsackie Correctional Facility in Coxsackie before retiring.

In 1964, he helped establish and was Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 140 in New Baltimore. He was a member and onetime Master of the Mason Lodge of New Baltimore.

He was predeceased by his wife, the late Ingeborg (Winkler) Way. By his second wife, the late Eleanor (Rogg) Way, and by his brother Charles Way, of Spring Lake, FL.

He is survived by his sons Sanford (Marcia) Way of Rochester, and Richard (Allene) Way of Fort Worth, TX; grandchildren, Brian Way of Denver, CO, Christina (Mike) Hudon of Providence, RI, and Bradley (Amie) Way , Andrea Way, and Laura (Derrick) Vaughn, all of Texas; brother Victor Way of Tulsa, OK; and several nieces and nephews.

Interment service will be held Monday, April 18, 11:30 a.m. at the Town of Catskill Cemetery, formerly Jefferson Rural Cemetery, Catskill.

HUDSON---Cosmo L. Riozzi Jr. 82, of Fire House Road, Hudson died April 17, 2005 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson.

He was born in Glasco, NY May 30, 1922, and was the son of the late Cosmo and Rose (Rich) Riozzi Sr.

Mr. Riozzi had been a resident of Columbia County since 1974.

During WW11 he served with the United States Army as a medic and took part in The Normandy Northern France Campaign receiving the American Service Medal, The Bronze Star, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and the World War 11 Victory Medal.

He was a member of the Sons and Daughters of Italy in Hudson, and a communicant of the Holy Family Church of Stottville. He loved the Giants and Yankees. He also loved to bowl, read and travel extensively.

Prior to his retirement he was employed by the Atlantic Cement Company.

Survivors include his wife Anna M. (DeLuke) Riozzi of Hudson, a son, Michael Sr. and daughter-in-law, Colleen of Hudson, a brother John Riozzi Sr., and sister-in-law, Ruth of Hudson, a sister, Mrs. George (Mary) Romano of Ravena, and also a grandson, Michael Riozzi Jr.

Besides his parents, Mr. Riozzi is predeceased by two brothers, Patrick and Damian Riozzi.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the Valenti and Richards Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Hudson.

Born Aug. 4, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Joseph James and Fleur Ange Simon Duhamel.

She was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Downstate Medical Center retiring in 1979.

A Saugerties area resident since 1979, she previously resided in Brooklyn.

She was an active member of St. Mary of the Snow Parish and St. Mary’s Rosary Society.

She was a member and past secretary of the Saugerties Senior Club No. 2, a volunteer worker for the American Cancer Society, the Seedling Center and St. Mary’s Outreach Program.

Several nieces and nephews survive.

Mrs. Duhamel was predeceased by sisters: Marie Jeanne Duhamel, Fluer Ange Duhamel and three brothers, the Rev. Joseph Duhamel, the Rev. Deacon Jean Duhamel and Laume Duhamel.

Her funeral procession will form 9:30 a.m. today at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., corner of John and Lafayette Streets, then to St. Mary of the Snow Roman Catholic Church where a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by the Rev. Hugh R. Grace, pastor of St. Mary of the Snow.

Ms. Miedreich was an employee of the New York State Department of Correctional Services in Hudson prior to her retirement. She was a communicant at Holy Name of Jesus Church in West Palm Beach, FL, and a member of the Greenport Garden Club.

Survivors include two sons, Wayne Miedreich of West Palm Beach, FL and Craig Miedreich of Palenville; a brother, Leo Karl of East Island, Long Island; a daughter-in-law Julie Miedreich of Palenville; and one grandson, Jeremy Miedreich of Palenville.

GREENPORT---David Arland Teator Sr., 69, of Arthur Ave. in Greenport, died Tuesday, April 19, 2005 after being stricken at home.

Born July 11, 1935 in Albany, he was the son of the late Mona Teator Nooney, who died in 1979.

Mr. Teator retired from the New York State Bridge Authority in 1999 and from IBM in Poughkeepsie in 1994. He also worked for many years for Schwerman’s Trucking Company retiring in 1984 as terminal manager at the Cementon plant.

He graduated from Hudson High School in 1954, and served in the United States Army in the Panama Canal and overseas from 1954 to 1957.

He was an avid bowler in Hudson and spent many hours watching his grandchildren compete in sporting events in the local school districts.

Mr. Teator was a member of the Catskill American Legion Post 187, and at the time of his death was a Columbia County Conservative Committeeman.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Marie (Brooks) Teator, whom he married in 1958; two sons, David A. Teator Jr. of Chatham and Jeffrey A. Teator of Gilbertsville, PA, his sister, Patricia Schroeder of Livingston; five grandchildren, Douglas Teator, Stephanie Teator, and David A. Teator 111, all of Chatham and Nicholas Teator and Zachary Teator, both of Gilbertsville.

In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by two brothers, Richard Nooney and Gary Teator.

She was employed as a Health Care Aide during her days of employment at the Pine Haven Nursing Home, in Philmont, and she also worked for various other health care agencies. She was also employed by the Columbia-Greene Senior Companion Program. She also loved to travel.

Besides her parents, she is predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Papas.

Survivors include her two daughters, Janice V. Sanders of Philmont, and Brenda Barber of Ghent; three sons, John Sanders of Catskill, Thomas Sanders of Copake, and Kenneth Sanders of Vermont; grandchildren, Jessica Sanders of Saratoga Springs, Clairetta and Betina Stutzman of Ghent, Robert, Eloise and Hannah Lachance of Philmont, Katlyne Sierra Sanders of Rutland, VT; great-granddaughter Deanna Jo Sanders of Saratoga Springs; and her sisters, Isabel Hoar, Violet Wright, and Minnie Gambocorta.

WINDHAM---Carl Lane, 86, of Windham died on Saturday, April 23, 2005 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson.

Born on Jan. 8, 1919 in Lanesville, he was the son of the late Eli and Leota (nee Dolan) Lane.

Carl held several occupations. He was a Greene County Legislator for District # 7 from 1976 through 1981; a dairy farmer; Supervisor of the Town of Ashland; Ashland Justice of the Peace; member of the Board of Supervisors for Greene County; and school bus driver for Windham-Ashland-Jewett School District.

He was also a volunteer fireman for the Ashland Fire Company and a member of the Ashland Community Church. His hobbies includes playing baseball and golf when he was younger. He was an avid Mets fan and always rooted for his team.

Carl was well known for his loving kindness and gentle ways and was always willing to be of help and service to those around him. He enjoyed and appreciated nature, planting trees, feeding the birds and keeping his home grounds perfect. You couldn’t ask for a better neighbor and friend, and most people took a liking to him immediately.

He will be missed by many, especially his family.

Carl was predeceased by his sister, Ruth Aplin, and five brothers; Lee Aplin, Willard Lane, Jerry (Bud) Lane, Albert Lane and Clarence “Larry” Lane.

Survivors include his wife, Henrietta (nee Beach) Lane of Windham; three daughters; Lois Melin and her husband George of South Kortright, Sandra Mattice and her husband Larry of Oneonta, and Carol Garraghan and her husband Guy of Ashland; a son, Terry Lane and his wife Nancy of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; two sisters; Amelia Layman of Ashland and Freda Peck of Maplecrest; a brother, Clifton Lane of York Harbor, Maine; 10 grandchildren; Debra White, Suzanne Van Houten, Troy and Jason Mattice, Tonya Harman, James, Kristen and Shannon Garraghan, De Etta Lackey and Jarod Lane; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

RAVENA---Joseph Rother, 76, of Ravena, died Saturday, April 23, 2005 at hid residence.

Born in Astoria, Long Island, he was the son of the late Joe and Mary Rother. He had lived in Selden, Long Island and settled in New Baltimore before moving to Ravena.

Mr. Rother was a graduate of Modern Welding School. He served in the Navy on the USS Glennon during WW11. As a steel superintendent he worked and organized most of Long Island’s major new construction during the 1060s and late 1980s. He was a member of Local 66 Laborers Union, Ridge Runners Motorcycle Club and the American Motorcycle Association. He was a pen and ink artist and enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his sons, Paul and Ronald; daughter, Marie; life long best friend and cousin, Edward Burke, cousin Bob Burke and their wives Jean and Dotty; grandchildren, Thomas Bobb, Tammy, Wendy, Jamie, Scott and Jessica and Faith Rother; daughter-in-law Jeannine Rother; married for many years to Rose Rother; great-grandchildren Mikel, Jordan, Amber, Tayler, Alissa, Grace, Caden Collin, Ashley, Amanda and Ryan; countless friends and neighbors.

He was predeceased by his parents Joe and Mary Rother.

He had retired from the NYSDOT having worked out of the Voorheesville station. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a loving and caring father, grandfather and friend.

He was predeceased by his wife Louella (Clickman) Palmer and a brother, Percival Palmer.

HUDSON---Wardell C. Perry, 85, a resident of Fireman’s Home since 1982, died Monday, April 25, 2005 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Born Sept. 8, 1919 in Athens, Greene County, he was the son of the late Leroy and Hazel (Brooks) Perry.

Before retiring he was employed in the production department at Aero Built in West Athens.

He was a life member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Athens and sang in the choir for many years. He was a member of the W.C. Brady Hook and Ladder Fire Company No. 1.

Mr. Perry umpired little league baseball games and enjoyed taking children out in his boat on the Hudson River.

Surviving are several good friends including Sally Brandow of Earlton, and his friends at the Fireman’s Home.

Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Fireman’s Home Chapel, 125 Harry Howard Ave., Hudson.

The W.C. Brady Hook and Ladder Company No. 1 will hold their services 7 p.m. in the chapel.

Interment will be in the Athens Rural Cemetery.

Arrangements are with the Bates & Anderson-Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green St. Hudson.

CATSKILL---Mary Ann Shea, 90, of Catskill and former long time Hudson resident died Monday, April 25, 2005 at Eden Park Nursing Home in Catskill.

She was born April 25, 1915 in Catskill, the daughter of the late John and Anna (DiBlasio) Fallarino Sr.

She was a seamstress for Taconic Dress in Hudson and later as a cook at the NYS Training School in Hudson prior to her retirement in 1977. She was an active communicant at Sacred Heart Church and St. Mary’s Church in Hudson. She loved to cook and bake.

Survivors include a brother, Cosmo Fallerino and wife Helen, both of Catskill; former spouse Wilson Shea of Hudson; and several nieces, nephews; great-nieces, great nephews and great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

She was predeceased by her sisters, Millie Smith, Ida Yannone, and Connie Kelly; and three brothers, John Fallarino Jr., Damian Fallarino and Albert Fallarino.

Calling hours will be 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Traver & McCurry Funeral Home, 234 Jefferson Heights, Catskill.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. John J. Murphy. Pastor of St. Patrick’s Church will be officiating.

Interment will follow in the family plot at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Catskill.

CATSKILL-James M. Amen, 68, of Rennie Road, Catskill, died suddenly Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany.

He was born July 11, 1936 in New York City, the son of the late John and Ann (Adams) Amen.

Mr. Amen was an employee of the New York State Department of Corrections for 18 years prior to his retirement. He was a former CYO basketball coach for many years.

Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey M. Amen of Catskill and John B. Amen of Lakeworth, FL, a brother, John Amen of New Jersey; a sister, Cathy Small of Long Island, NY, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Mr. Amen was predeceased by his wife, Mrs. Eileen Amen on Nov. 10, 2003.

Calling hours will be 7 to p.m. Thursday from the Traver & McCurry Funeral Home, Catskill.

Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. The Rev. John J. Murphy, Pastor, St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church of Catskill will be officiating.

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP---Edward A. Adamo, 77, of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, died April 10, 2005.

Born and raised in Coxsackie, he was the son of the late Anthony and Theresa Adamo (Lucia).

He was an Egg Harbor Township and Galloway, NJ resident for the past 22 years. He served in the US Marine Corps., attended State Teachers College in Albany, then received his Doctorate Degree from Columbia University in NYC, and was a retired superintendent of schools in Marcellus, NY. After retirement he owned and operated the Fischer Plantscaping Business. He was a Rotarian and a volunteer with his local Red Cross, hospital and soup kitchen. He was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three children, Daniel Adamo and his wife Susan of Houston, TX. Denine Savage of Madison, CT, and Amy Bodnar and her husband James of Medford, NJ; one granddaughter, Shannon Savage of San Francisco, CA; one brother, Joseph Adamo and his wife Marilyn of Xenia, OH; and one sister, Drusiana (Dolly) Mansfield and her husband George of Coxsackie; and seven nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife Martha Jane.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service May 2, 11 a.m. at the W.C. Brady’s & Sons Funeral Home, 97 Mansion Street, Coxsackie, officiated by Pastor Stanley Slager.

Interment will follow at the family plot of St. Mary’s Church Cemetery, Route 385, Coxsackie.

He was a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. He Loved fly fishing, outdoors and camping. He was also a musician.

Besides his parents he is survived by his wife Maureen Taylor of Saugerties, a brother. Stephen Taylor of GA, and his sister Susan Johnson of GA.

Private cremation services will take place at the Albany Rural Crematorium in Menands.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Richards Funeral Home, Bross St., Cairo.

HILLSDALE, NJ---Dominick L. Cundari, of Hillsdale, NJ, and Cairo, died Wednesday, April 27, 2005.

Before retiring Mr. Cundari owned and operated Cundari Enterprises, Westwood, NJ, Bullinger’s Guides and had owned Westwood Printing. He was an army veteran of WW11. He founded the Padre Pio Rosary Club, Westwood, NJ and started Dial-A-Rosary which is still in existence today. In 1973 he built a grotto in Cairo that was an exact replica of Our Lady of Lourdes. It was built at the convent of the Sisters of St. John the Baptist in Cairo. For a number of years, masses were said here. Due to changes, the sisters were forced to leave.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Antoinette Cundari; nephews and nieces, Frieda D’Elia, Josephine Corbae, Michael, Vincent, and George D’Elia and Maria Zarro.

He was predeceased by his late wife, Josephine A. (nee D’Elia) Cundari, and a brother, Joseph Cundari.

Calling hours are Saturday, 3 to 5 p.m. at the Richards Funeral Home, Bross St., Cairo.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, 5 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Church of Cairo with the Rev. Fr. Jeremiah Nunan, Pastor, as the celebrant.

Entombment will follow next to his late wife in the family mausoleum in the Cairo Cemetery.

WATERVLIET---Gaetano “Thomas” Manganaro, 93, died Thursday, April 28, 2005.

He was the son of the late Edwardo and Carmella Ramano Manganaro.

Born in Italy, he moved to the United States as a child. Tommy, “Shorty” was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus and was a volunteer firefighter in Woodstock. He was employed by the Onteora School District as a bus driver. He was a WW11 veteran who proudly served his country. He enjoyed his retirement and his involvement at the Watervliet Senior Citizen’s Center. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart of Mary Church, Watervliet.

He was the beloved father of Jacqueline Manganaro and Camile Dockstader; grandfather of nine grandchildren.

He was predeceased by son James Manganaro, and daughter Joanne Manganaro; three brothers and one sister.

Calling hours are Saturday, 9 to 11 a.m. at the Konicek & Collett Funeral Home, LLC 1855 Twelfth Avenue, Watervliet.

Funeral services will be Saturday, 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

CEMENTON---Jennie Dolores McLaughlin, 81, of Maple Street, Cementon, died suddenly Thursday, April 28, 2005 in Catskill.

She was born Nov. 11, 1923 in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of the late Stephen and Anna (Hreha) Misetich.

Mrs. McLaughlin was an employee of Greene County Nursing Home in Catskill prior to her retirement.

She was a communicant at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Catskill.

She was a Past Treasurer of St. Patrick’s Student Council, and a member of the Cementon Sportsmen’s Club.

Survivors include a son, James M. McLaughlin of New York City; a daughter Mary Ann McLaughlin of Palm Desert, CA, a brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Bonnie Misetich of Hudson; two sisters, Margaret Ruzzi and Dorothy Misetich, both of Catskill; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. McLaughlin was predeceased by her husband James M. McLaughlin Sr. in 1979.

CATSKILL---Elizabeth Gilfeather (nee McMahon), 93, of Leeds quietly passed away Friday, April 29, 2005 at Eden Park Nursing Home in Catskill.

Elizabeth was born Feb. 14, 1912 at Kiltybane, Cullyhanna, County Armagh, Ireland, the daughter of Michael and Rose (nee O’Callaghan) McMahon.

Elizabeth emigrated from Ireland to New York City in early 1929. In the late 1930’s together with husband, Michael, they opened and operated the Sligo Hotel in Leeds until its sale in 1984. She loved her later years, spending precious time with her family and friends, all of whom will greatly miss her.

She was predeceased by her husband, Michael Gilfeather on May 21, 1965 and by her beloved son Edward on July 7, 1995. She was also predeceased by her brothers and sisters Ellie, Francis, Mary, Patrick, Owen, Michael, Lawrence, John, Peter, James, Edward, Rose and Molly.

Survivors include her son Michael and his wife Sheila of Leeds, their children, Meaghan, Deirdre, and Michael Gilfeather of Leeds, and many nieces and nephews, both here and in Ireland.

Calling hours will be Sunday, May 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Traver & McCurry Funeral Home, 234 Jefferson Heights, Catskill.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 2, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by an 11:15 Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s R.C. Church, Catskill. The Rev. John J. Murphy, Pastor, will be officiating.

Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Catskill.
