Helen S. Damroth

ATHENS-- Helen S. Davidson Damroth of North Franklin Street in Athens, died Sunday, July 30, 2006, at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson after a long illness.

Born in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Doughtery Walty.

Mrs. Damroth was educated in the Brooklyn school system.

She was employed by Day & Holt Co. as a bookkeeper and as an office manager for Berzal’s Chevrolet in Catskill. She was later employed by Donald Beckett, CPA in Saugerties and Ulster Savings Bank until health problems forced her retirement in 2005.

Survivors include a niece and nephew, Linda and Frank Voldolgende of West Keansburg, New Jersey; several great nieces and a friend and neighbor, Maude Borne.

She was predeceased by her husbands, Francis Davidson in 1973 and Harold Damroth in 1987.

Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Richards Funeral Home, 28 N. Vernon St., Athens.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in the family plot of the Catskill Rural Cemetery.

LEEDS--Margaret A. Lossow, 76, of Leeds, died Sunday, July 30, 2006 at the Albany Medical Center in Albany.

Born Aug. 28, 1929 in Jewett, she was the daughter of the late William and Mildred Johnson Fisher.

She was a lifelong resident of Greene County.

Mrs. Lossow was a cook at Pine Lake Manor Resort in Greenville.

She was a life member of Veterans of foreign Wars Post #770 Ladies Auxiliary in Catskill.

She enjoyed sewing and watching wildlife.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Rusty Luther of Palenville and Donna and Frank Davis of Cairo; three sons and two daughters-in-law, William and Darlene Fisher of Fulton, Oswego County, Charles Hughes of Leeds and Ernest and Patty Lossow of Florida; three sisters, Gertrude Fisher, Violet Clark and Loleta Aplin; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She predeceased by a brother, Leon Fisher and four sisters: Shirley Fisher, Dorla Thorne, Ida Shoemaker and Elsie Lyon.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Decker Funeral Home, 134 Main St., Windham.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Hunter.

STATEN ISLAND -- Barbara A. Miller, 67, of Bullshead, died July 27, 2006 at her home.

Born and raised in Cairo, she attended Cairo Central School and regularly attended class reunions.

She moved to Staten Island in 1966 and was employed as a typist for IBM and a realtor for Wonic Realtors and Exit Realtors.

She enjoyed spending time with family and grandchildren, taking trips to Aruba and bowling.

She is survived by her step-mother, Mrs. Howard Miller of Hudson and many cousins from the surrounding area.

She was predeceased by a brother, Howard Miller.

Funeral services were held Monday at St. Teresa Roman Catholic Church, Staten Island, with interment following in Resurrection Cemetery.

Patrick J. Alcuri

COXSACKIE -- Patrick J. Alcuri, 96, of 713 Bethany Village, West Coxsackie, formerly of 288 Mansion St., Coxsackie, died suddenly Aug. 3, 2006 at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany.

He was born in Coxsackie Jan. 1, 1910 and was the son of the late Joseph and Georgiano (Gentile) Alcuri.

Mass of the Christian Burial will take place Saturday, Aug. 5, at 9 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Coxsackie with the Rev. Father J. Moyna, pastor, the celebrant.

Interment with full military honors will follow in the family plot of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Coxsackie, next to his late wife Carmela who predeceased him on Nov. 17, 1998.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence J. (Patricia) McCarrol of West Coxsackie and Mrs. Frank (Georgene) Montana of Guilderland; two grandchildren, Lawrence P. McCarrol of West Coxsackie and Julie O’Donoghue of Boston, Mass; and one great-grandchild, Sean Patrick O-Donoghue.

Besides his wife and his parents, Alcuri is predeceased by two brothers, Anthony and Leo Alcuri and two sisters, Rose Longo and Elizabeth Parisi.

Alcuri is a lifetime resident of Coxsackie, a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10986 of Coxsackie, the Union Local 190 of Albany. He is a veteran of World War II serving his country in the U.S. Army. He loved gardening and the Yankees baseball team. He moved to Bethany Village six years ago after the death of his wife.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours at the W.C. Brady’s and Sons, Inc. Funeral Home, 97 Mansion St., Coxsackie today from 4 to 8 p.m.

The VFW will meet at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home to conduct services.

HUDSON -- Mark X. McIlhenny, 37, of Stockport, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006 at his residence.

Born Aug. 2, 1968 in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of John F. McIlhenny of Stockport and the late Ruth (Stokes) McIlhenny.

Mark was a clerk in the emergency room at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson.

In addition to his father, surviving are his sister, Karen Ernst of Philadelphia and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by a brother, John McIlhenny.

Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. today at the Bates & Anderson-Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green St., Hudson.

GLASCO--Carmella Valguarnera, 83, of Delaware Street died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006 in the Kingston City Hospital, Kingston, after a brief illness.

Born Aug. 25, 1922 in Aidone, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Ingnazia Calacagno.

An area resident for many years, she was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Glasco.

Predeceased by her husband, Liborio, in Sept. 2001, she is survived by three sons: Joseph of Rome, Italy, Angelo of New Jersey and Aldo Valguarnera of Glasco; two daughters, Maria Cammarta of Saugerties and Lidia Rivera of Glasco; three brothers: Thomas Calacagno of Glasco, Vincent Calacagno of Stone Ridge and Paul Calacagno of Albany; two sisters Josephine Alco of Saugerties and Lucy Gianbone of Saugerties; 15 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was also predeceased by a sister, Lauren Fucco and a brother Salvatore Calacagno.

Her funeral procession will form at 8:15 a.m. Monday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., corner of John and Lafayette Streets, thence to St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church where a 9 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn.

HUNTER--Mary H. Byrne, 92, of Tannersville, died Aug. 4 at the Robinson Terrace in Stanford.

Born Sept. 8, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Catherine Keogh Curran of Tannersville.

She was a graduate of Pratt Institute and was a dietician at St. Rose College. She was a homemaker and member of the Rosary Society of the Immaculate Conception R.C. Church in Haines Falls.

Survivors include four daughters: Nancy Truesdell of Tannersville, Diann Terns Thorpe of Tannersville, Patricia Drum of Denver, Colo., and Susan Burtch of Slippery Rock, Pa; two sisters, Patricia Byrne of Tannersville and Irene Montie of Silver Springs, Md; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, William Byrne; a daughter, Barbara Weis; a sister, Nancy Roman; and two brothers, Joseph and Edward Curran.

Calling hours are today at the Aston-Basagic Funeral Home, 7742 Main St., Hunter, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Haines Falls. The Rev. Anthony Motta will be the celebrant.

Interment will follow in the St. Francis de Sales Cemetery in Elka Park.

SAUGERTIES--Ella Johnson, 82, of Lighthouse Drive died Friday, August 4, 2006 in the Northern Dutchess Hospital, Rhinebeck.

Born Nov. 1, 1923, in Saugerties, she was the daughter of the late Clifford P. and Ella Myer Myers.

She was employed for 24 years in retail in Newberry, London and Girand.

She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for more than 35 years. She served as a Regent with the DAR for three years from 1986-89.

She was a Camp Fire Girl Leader for many years attaining the highest rank for adult participation.

She was a member and past president of the Saugerties Power Boat Auxiliary.

She was a former member of the Saugerties Garden Club and loved doing handcrafted items to donate to local church fairs.

Survivors include her husband, William “Bill” Johnson with whom she recently celebrated her 35^th wedding anniversary.

Several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Eugene W. and William A. Myers and a sister, Margaret Whitaker.

Her funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., corner of John and Lafayette Streets, Saugerties with the Rev. Jeffrey Turczyn, pastor of the Trinity Episcopal Church officiating.

Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in the Trinity Cemetery, Saugerties.

Michael ‘Mickey’ Kirlauski Sr.
Avid Detroit Tigers Fan

CEMENTON--Michael Kirlauski Sr. of 36 Maple Street died Thursday, August 3, 2006 at Benedictine Hospital in Kingston.

Mr. Kirlauski retired from the Alpha Portland Cement Co. in 1981. He was a lifelong member and usher of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cementon until its closing, and a long-time member of the Cementon Sportsman’s Club. He was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and was referred to by many as the “mayor of Cementon”.

Born March 20, 1924, he was the son of the late Stanley and Alice Kirlauski.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Zinkow Kirlauski; four children: Mary Ann Hollenbaugh of Downsville, Michele Kirlauski of Troy, Michael Kirlauski of North Carolina; Alice Kirlauski of Cementon; a son-in-law, David Hollenbaugh; daughter-in-law, Patricia Kirlauski; grandchildren, Michele Hollenbaugh of Arizona, Michael Kirlauski III of North Carolina, Lindsey Hollenbaugh of Downsville and Jennifer and Joseph Kirlauski of North Carolina.

Additionally, Mr. Kirlauski is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Joseph Capobianco of Catskill; Agnes Notarnicola of West Camp; sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth (Betty) and Joseph Sinnott of Saugerties; as well as many nieces and nephews, including Mary Daley of Cementon.

He is predeceased by sisters: Patrona Chesebrugh, Anna Nepsie and Alice Gaucas.

His funeral procession will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday a the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., corner of John and Lafayette Streets, Saugerties.

Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Catskill.

CAIRO -- Jennie Mazzella, age 89 years, of 74 Agnes Drive, Acra, died Sunday, August 6, 2006 at Kaaterskill Long Term Care Facility, Catskill, where she had been a patient for four days.

She was born in New York City on Sept. 11, 1916, and was the daughter of the late Maxmillin and Virginia (Monteleone) Orticelli.

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Richards Funeral Home, 29 Bross St., Cairo. The Rev. Anthony will officiate.

Interment will follow in the family plot of the Cairo Cemetery, next to her husband, Pompio, who predeceased her on Oct. 10, 1994.

Jennie had been an area resident for the last 22 years. She was the past member of the Cairo Republican Club. She loved to knit, crochet and bake and was dedicated to her family.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Marie) Kligerman of Leeds; a son, Maxmillin Mazzella of the Bronx; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

CAIRO--Henrietta L. Healy, 78, of Elizabeth Terrace, Cairo, died August 8, 2006 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany.

She was born in Jamaica, Long Island April 6, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Philip and Emma (Schrempf)l Hirsch.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church, Cairo.

Interment will follow in the family plot of the Cairo Cemetery.

Henrietta has been an area resident since 1982. She was a communicant of the Sacred Heart Church of Cairo, a member of the Cairo Senior Citizens, a member of the Catskill Pips, a member of the Cairo Republican Club and the Catskill Fellowship.

She enjoyed arts, crafts, reading and traveling.

She is survived by a son, Rev. Brother John Healy FMS of New Jersey; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Ellen) Services of Albany and Mrs. Anthony (Kathleen) Gulotta of Florida; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Henrietta is predeceased by her husband, Emile.

Thomas C. Kreitner

CATSKILL -- Thomas Charles Kreitner, 57, of Austin, Texas, died July 14, 2006 at his residence following a long illness with his family in attendance.

Kreitner was born in Catskill on Aug. 18, 1948 to Margaret McCue Kreitner and the late James Herbert Kreitner.

Upon graduation from high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for three years aboard the newly commissioned Destroyer Escort, the U.S.S. Meyerkord, earning the rank of SGT3 as well as the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with four bronze stars. He was a resident of Minnesota for many years prior to moving to Austin where he was employed as an account executive with Presence Company Southwest.

Private cremation was conducted at the Temple Garden of Memories Crematory under the direction of the Heritage Funeral Home in Harker Heights, Texas. Funeral rites will be conducted on Wednesday, Aug. 9 at 11 a.m. in the Remembrance Chapel of the Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home, 139 Jefferson Heights with the Rev. James E. Clark, pastor of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church officiating.

Kreitner is survived by his mother, Peg Kreitner of Catskill; son Samuel Kreitner, daughter, Mikele Kreitner and their mother, Susan Reasner, all of Austin, Texas; his brother, James Kreitner of Kinderhook; three sisters: John (Suzanne) Wilhelm of Loudonville, Ronald (Patricia) Wolfe of Alcove and Mark (Karen) Whitbeck of Catskill; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, James. H. Kreitner on Oct. 20, 1992 in addition to two uncles, William and Donald Kreitner and two aunts, Elizabeth Delanoy and Barbara Kellogg.

CAIRO -- John Fabrizio, 89, of Jerome Avenue, Cairo, died suddenly on Aug. 10, 2006 at Albany Medical Center with his family at his side.

He was born in the Bronx Nov. 12, 1916 and was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Nicoletti) Fabrizio.

Funeral services will take place Monday at 10 a.m. at the Richards Funeral Home, 29 Bross St., Cairo with the Rev. Retta Lykens, pastor of the Cairo United Methodist Church officiating.

Interment will follow in the family plot of the Catskill Town Cemetery.

He is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Pamela (Ellsworth) Slater of Cairo, Mrs. Judy (David) Spring of Greenville and Sonya Finch of Catskill and a son, John Fabrizio of Cairo; four brothers: Frank Fabrizio of Cairo, Cosmo Fabrizio of Plymouth, Mass., Anthony Fabrizio and Joseph Fabrizio, both of California; two sisters: Mrs. Mary (Cecil) Shippee of East Durham and Fort Pierce, Fla. And Mrs. Anne (James) Klucken of California. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Justin and Bethany Slater, Christopher Fabrizio, Krista Spencer, Mikaylah Finch, Mariah Finch, Jared and Ethan Spring.

Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his sister, Paula Raffa.

John was a member of the AM VETS in Eustis, Fla., a member of the Teamsters Union No. 294 out of Albany and a member of the Cairo United Methodist Church. He loved to travel and do itineraries, was an avid reader, loved going to organizational dinners and cookouts. He was a loving father and grandfather.

During his employment John was employed by Mitchell Transport Company.

Born in Hudson, she was the daughter of Charles Lauster of Valatie and Barbara Faulkner Lauster of Chatham.

Survivors in addition to her parents include her fiance, Larry Kilmer of Freehold; children, Harley and Samantha Kilmer also of Freehold; brothers, Daniel Lauster of North Chatham and Shawn Lauster of Niverville; brothers and sister-in-law, Steven and Sue Lauster of Valatie and Jody and Mary Lauster of Nassau; as well as several nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours.

Services from the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St., Nassau, will be private and at the convenience of the family.

COXSACIE -- Wolodymyr Trembacz of 59 New St., Coxsackie, died Aug. 9, 2006 at the Eden Park Health Care Center in Catskill at the age of 89.

Mr. Trembacz was born in the Ukraine on May 10, 1917.

Graveside funeral services will take place on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006 at 12:30 p.m. at the Riverside Cemetery, Coxsackie with the Rev. Fr. J. Moyna of St. Mary’s Church of Coxsackie officiating.

Besides his parents, Trembacz is predeceased by his wife, Kataryna.

He had been an area resident since 1950. He was employed at one time by the American Valve Company and was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Coxsackie. He also owned a local farm on Route 9W in Coxsackie.

He is survived by three sons: Richard and his wife Carol (Lawyer), Nicky and Peter and his wife Barbara, all residents of Coxsackie. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Richard Jr. and Michael.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the W.C. Brady’s Sons Inc. Funeral Home 97 Mansion St., Coxsackie.

The day of the graveside service friends and family are asked to meet at the Riverside Cemetery, not at the funeral home.

Barbara Hope Brown Roosa
English teacher

BEACON -- Barbara Hope Brown Roosa, 69, of Hopewell Junction, died Aug. 7, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie.

Born Jan. 3, 1937 in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., she was the daughter of Wilton Hope Brown and Marian Turner.

She graduated from Peace College and the University in North Carolina with a degree in English Education and did graduate work in communications at Ohio University.

Mrs. Roosa taught high school English for one year in Virginia and nearly 19 years in Ohio.

Thereafter she worked for the American Diabetes Association in Worthington, Ohio as vice president of programs.

She married George L. Cowell Jr. in June of 1959 and resided for more than 20 years in Ohio where she raised three children.

On Aug. 6, 1994 she married Benjamin P. Roosa Jr., a local attorney and former New York State assemblyman.

She was a very active member of the Hopewell Reformed Church.

A longtime member of a ChristCare group, she later trained as a ChristCare group leader and eventually took on two groups with great love and dedication. She also trained as Stephen Leader and fulfilled the role of Stephen Ministry Coordinator.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Ben; brother, Richard S. Brown and wife Marlene of Alabama; sister, Laine Lee and her husband Tim of North Carolina; her children, Lynn Alton and husband Peter of Ohio, David Cowell of Florida, son Lee Cowell and wife Sharon of North Carolina; her adopted second family, Elizabeth Roosa of New Hamburg, Nancy Hilscher and husband Theodore of Hannacroix, Benjamin P. Roosa III and wife Connie of Georgia, Robert A. Roosa and wife Kari of Carmel; grandchildren, Ashley Crowe of North Carolina, Jack and Cole Hilscher of Hannacroix and Elizabeth and Alex Roosa of Carmel.

A memorial service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 12, at Hopewell Reformed Church, Beckman Road, Hopewell Junction. The Rev. David Hondorp will officiate.

She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony T. Semento Sr. in September 2001.

She was a parishioner of St. John Roman Catholic Church on Holly Hills Drive in West Hurley.

Survivors include one son, Anthony T. “Tony” Semento Jr. of Woodstock; daughter Mary Stahura of California; one sister, Marie Ewin of Florida; one brother, Daniel McGeehan of Florida; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by four brothers: Hubert, Raymond, Corneilus and Joseph McGeehan; and one sister, Jean McGeehan.

Charles E. Benton
Engineer, veteran

POUGHKEEPSIE -- Charles E. Benson, 75, formerly of Poughkeepsie, beloved husband of Julia Amato Benton, died on Aug. 11, 2006 at Hudson Valley Nursing Center in Highland.

Born on Sept. 29, 1930, he was the son of the late Myron and Katherine Davis Benton.

He retired in 1988 from the New York Telephone Company where he worked as an engineer. Charles was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member of the Manchester Hunt Club and the American Legion.

Survivors include his sons, Charles Benton, his children, C.J., Sara and Courtney of Catskill; Michael Benton, his wife, Colleen and their children, Daniel and Emily of Cobleskill; daughters Kathleen Faille, her husband Paul of Enfield, Conn.; and Carrie Vacarro, her husband Steven and their children, Jade, Jewelia, Jaycee and Zack of New Paltz.

Charles was predeceased by his son Gary Benton.

Calling hours will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006 from 11 a.m. to noon at the Parmele Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Ave., Poughkeepsie.

Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at noon.

Interment will be in the family plot at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.

James T. Raucci
Supervisor-manager at Phillips Components

GLASCO -- James T. “Jim” Raucci, 62, of Joseph’s Drive, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2006 at the Benedictine Hospital in Kingston after a lengthy illness.

Born Dec. 23, 1943, in Kingston, he is the son of the late Katherine E. Cashara and James T. Raucci, Sr.

A lifelong area resident, he was employed for more than 37 years as a supervisor-manager at Phillips Components in Saugerties.

Active in firematics, he was a 44-year member of the Glasco Fire Company. He was serving as the treasurer of the Glasco Fire Company and the secretary-treasurer of the Glasco Fire District. He was a former member of the Glasco AC softball team in the Saugerties Athletic Association League, a member of the Saugerties Bowlers Club where he bowled in the Wednesday Nite League, a member of the Ferroxcube’s Club and an avid Yankees fan.

Besides his father, James T. Raucci, Sr. of Glasco, he is survived by his wife, the former Maria Fabiano, with whom he recently celebrated his 15^th wedding anniversary; one daughter Carisa M. Raucci of Houston, Texas; and several nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles.

He was predeceased by a brother, Robert J. “Bobby” Raucci, in August 2004.

His funeral procession will form at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc., corner of John and Lafayette street, thence to St. Joseph’s RC Church where at 9:30 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by the Rev. Msgr. Charles Zannotti, pastor of St. Joseph’s.

Interment will follow in St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery, Barclay Heights, Saugerties.

Former Catskill resident

ALBANY -- Dorothy “Dot” Louise Sheldon Ivery, 82, of Albany and former longtime Catskill resident, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn.

Born July 28, 1924 in Warrenton, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Moses and Irene Myrick Sheldon.

Mrs. Ivery was educated in the Georgia County School Districts.

At the age of 16, she married Willie Joe Ivery, who predeceased her on Oct. 8, 1996.

She was an employee of Atlanta Knitting Mills, American Thermostat and as a domestic.

Mrs. Ivery was a member of the Mount Tabor AME Zion Church in Catskill, where she served as an usher. She also enjoyed watching Don Knotts as Barney Fife on television and doing crossword puzzles.

Survivors include ten children: Willie James Ivery, Donna Louise Ivery, Minda (Robert) Dunlap, Pauline Ivery, Yvonne Ivery and Catherine “Kay” Ivery, all of Albany, Thomas (Martha) Ivery Sr. of Cairo, Susan Ann Ivery and Willie Paris “Bill” Ivery, all of Catskill and Michael (Carol) Ivery of Pittsfield, Mass.; a brother-in-law, Ralph Ivery of Catskill; 30 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; an aunt; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was precedeceased by a sister and several brothers and sisters-in-law.

Calling hours will be 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the Second Baptist Church, Main Street, Catskill.

Funeral services will begin at noon Wednesday with the Rev. Moses Carter officiating.

Interment will follow at Catskill Rural Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital.

NEW SALEM, Albany County -- William Tymchyn, 86, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 2006, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany.

Mr. Tymchyn worked for many years as a mason and 16 years for the Town of New Scotland Highway Department. After his retirement, he continued to work, part time for the town Park’s Department.

Survivors include two sisters, Victoria Tymchyn and Virginia Tymchyn, both of Guilderland; a granddaughter, Brenda VanDermark of Catskill; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Ella Hallenbeck Tymchyn; a stepdaughter, Sandra VanDermark, a brother, Nicholas Tymchyn and two sisters, Mary Kott and Estelle Doran.

Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, 9 Voorheesville Ave., Voorheesville.

Funeral services will be at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday from the funeral home and 9:30 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Church, Mountainview Street, Voorheesville.

Interment will be in Memory’s Garden in Colonie.

ATHENS -- Ronald Godschalk, 82, of Athens and formerly of New York City, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson.

Born Feb. 25, 1924 in Berlin, Germany, he was the son of Arnold and Erna E. Godschalk.

Mr. Godschalk was a film editor for ABC Television in Manhattan until his retirement.

He was a music lover and was a ham radio enthusiast for many years.

Survivors include his son, David Godschalk of Sayville, Long Island; two daughters, Wendy Bic of Coral Gables, Fla. And Pamela Carter of Zephyr Hills, Fla.; and one sister Ruth Chaut of Forest Hills, Queens County.

There will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be private at a later date.

Cremation services provided by McDonald Funeral Home Inc. in Hudson.

CATSKILL -- John Daniel White, 84, of Broome Street, Catskill, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 1006 at Kaaterskill Care in Catskill.

Born Feb.26, 1922 in West Ghent, he was the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth Hochheimer White.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II.

Mr. White was employed at Grumman-Allied of West Athens for many years prior to his retirement.

He was a member of Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witness in South Cairo.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Puryk White of Catskill; two daughters, Karen White of Purling and Sheila Moon of Albany; three sons, John White of Catskill, Donald White of East Greenbush and Christopher White of Ghent; six grandchildren, Michael Murphy of Cairo, Derek Spada of Kingston, Kelly Smith of Catskill, Frank Ford III of Catskill, Kenneth Ford of Hudson and Robert Ford of Palenville; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. White was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia White on Oct. 2, 1981.

A calling hour will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Traver & McCurry Funeral home, 234 Jefferson Heights, Catskill.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday with elders from Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness officiating.

Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

Former owner of Long Ridge Pony Ranch

CATSKILL -- Rita M. Frangione, 84, of Catskill, died peacefully at home Monday, Aug. 14, 2006 with her family by her side.

Born in Fall River, Mass. On Oct. 25, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Maria DeBiasio Chirillo.

Rita has been an area resident since 1904 when she moved to Catskill from Stamford, Conn. To be close to her family. She loved going to horse shows to see her grandsons ride. She loved Bingo and was an avid reader.

She is survived by a son, Daniel Frangione Jr. of Selkirk and a daughter, Darlene Boudreau of Catskill; two grandsons, Mark Boudreau of Amsterdam and Daniel Boudreau of Stamford, Conn; granddaughter Allison Boudreau of Shelton, Conn; stepdaughter Trudy Moore of Catskill; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Rita was predeceased by her husband, Daniel Frangione on May 27, 1996; a brother, Pat Chirillo and three sisters: Genevive Mancini, Elvira Lyford and Caroline Platerotti.

A prayer service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 17 at 2 p.m. at the Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home at 139 Jefferson Heights in Catskill with the Rev. John J. Murphy officiating.

Friends and relatives may call at noon prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Veterans Section of the Catskill Rural Cemetery with her husband.

Former owner of the Blarney Stone in NYC

CAIRO -- Patrick J. McPartlan, 78, of 9 Old State Route 23 in Cairo, died Aug. 14 2006 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany.

Born in Ireland on June 20, 1928 he was the son of the late Patrick and Catherine McPartlan.

Patrick had been an area resident since 1992. Prior to coming to Greene County he owned and operated the Blarney Stone Bar and Grill in New York City.

He was a communicant of Our Lady of Knock Shrine and a member of the East Durham Knights of Columbus, the Ancient Order of Hibernians Society of East Durham and the Greenville Irish American Club.

He is survived by his wife Eileen (Ellen) McPartlan of Cairo; a son and daughter-in-law, Gerard and Beth McPartlan of Georgia; a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Deirdre) Finnegan of New York City; and five grandchildren: Sarah, Sean, Mary, Grania and Fiona.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Knock Shrine, East Durham, with the Rev. Father John Murphy pastor, celebrant. Interment will follow up in the family plot at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Catskill.

David L. Taylor
Former village trustee

COXSACKIE -- David L. Taylor, 86, formerly of 14 Church St., Coxsackie, died Aug. 15, 2006 at the Eden Park Health Care Center, Catskill, where he has been a resident since July 25, 2005.

He was born in Dumont, N.J. Aug. 11, 1920 and was the son of the late Emmit and Ann Taylor.

Funeral Services will take place Friday, Aug. 18, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at the W.C. Brady’s Sons Inc. Funeral Home. The Rev. Roger Granger, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Coxsackie, officiating.

Interment will follow next to his late wife, Daryl L. (Carrington) Taylor, who predeceased him Aug. 5, 1967 in the Riverside Cemetery, Coxsackie.

David was a master mechanic and worked for Calanan Industries of Ravena. He retired from working in 1975. He was also a member of Local Union 1061UOE. He was very active in constructing the Adirondack Northway and also the Atlas Missile Complex in Plattsburgh.

After retiring, he became an EMT and volunteered with the Coxsackie Rescue Squad. He also worked as a voting machine custodian during election time. Also he owned and operated the Goat Hill Garage for 39 years. He was self-appointed mayor of the Goat Hill community from 1945 to 2005. He was an avid hunter and loved snowmobiling. He was elected as Coxsackie Village Trustee in 1964. In 1965 he became a member of the ARK Lodge F & AM. Just recently he received a 50 year membership pin from this organization. This lodge will hold services in his memory at 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.

He is survived by his daughter, Ruth A. Hynes of Catskill, a brother, Robert Taylor of Hudson, a grandson David T. Hynes and his wife Carrie of West Coxsackie, and two great-grandchildren, Joshua and Aimee Hynes of West Coxsackie.

COXSACKIE -- Stanley Yusko, 82, of 123 South River St., Coxsackie, died suddenly Aug. 16, 2006 at Columbia Memorial Hospital, Hudson.

He was born in Hudson May 25, 1924 and was the son of the late John and Mary (Pyndus) Yusko.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Fr. John Moyna, pastor, at 9 a.m. at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Coxsackie, on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006.

Interment will follow in the family plot of the St,. Mary’s Cemetery, Coxsackie, next to his first wife, Alice Yusko, with full military honors.

He had been a resident of Coxsackie for more than 50 years. He served his country as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He owned and operated Yusko Plumbing and Heating Company for over 50 years.

He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus No. 548 of Coxsackie, a member of the American Legion Post No. 166 of Coxsackie and is also very well known for his Little League coaching many years ago.

He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Carolyn (Brockett) Yusko of River Street, Coxsackie. He is also survived by a daughter, Mrs. Dominick (Jill) Costanzo of Coxsackie, a brother, Michael Yusko of Hudson; and four grandchildren: Bryan, Jeffrey, Timothy and Kimberly. He is also survived by three nephews, John, Michael and Robert Yusko.

Besides his parents and wife he is predeceased by a son, Timothy Yusko in 2003 and his brother Theodore Yusko.

CATSKILL -- Evelyn Porter of Brick, N.J., formerly of Catskill and Oradell, N.J., died Aug. 5, 2006 at home.

She is survived by two daughters, Karen Gosselin and Lynn Porter-Carlton, and two grandsons. She was predeceased by her husband, Theron I. Porter, her mother, Nellie C. Freer and her son-in-law, Victor Gosselin.

Prior to retirement, Porter was employed for 19 years by the Oradell Board of Education as secretary to the superintendent of schools. Porter was a member of the Second Reformed Church of Hackensack.

A graveside service with the Rev. Vicki Eastland of the Catskill Reformed Church officiating was held At. 9, 2006 at the Town of Catskill Cemetery.

Accomplished artist

FREEHOLD -- Keith James Pebler Jr., 19, died suddenly Aug. 17, 2006 on his way to work in a one vehicle automobile crash.

He was a June 2006 graduate of Greenville Central High School and was preparing for entrance to the Hudson Valley Community College where he was hoping to begin an Associates Degree in Fine Arts.

He was an accomplished sketch artist and worked at Blackthorn Resort.

He is survived by his father, Keith J. Pebler Sr.; mother, Kate Smeland Pebler, RN of Freehold; brothers and sister, Jesse Arnold Pebler of Freehold, Jason and wife Amy Shear and children of Voorheesville, Robert Mercogliano of Vineland, N.J. and Katelyn DeMatte of New York and many uncles, aunts and dear friends.

Cremation services will be rendered by the Richard Funeral Home in Cairo.

COXSACKIE -- Christopher L. Batcher, 13, of Medway-Earlton Road, Earlton, died suddenly Aug. 18, 2006 at his residence.

He was born in Troy on Feb. 23, 1993 and was the son of William H. and Heidi M. (Andrews) Batcher of Earlton.

Funeral services will take place Tuesday, 11 a.m. at the W.C. Brady’s Sons Inc. Funeral Home, 97 Mansion St., Coxsackie with the Rev. Paul Peters officiating.

Interment will follow in the family plot of the Chestnut Lawn Cemetery in New Baltimore.

Christopher was ready to enter the eighth grade in the Greenville school system. He loved four wheeling, football, swimming, fishing, the outdoors and being with friends.

Worked at Hudson Knitting Mills

VALATIE -- Concetta “Mabel” Chiarella, 94, of Columbiaville, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006 at her home.

Born in Stockport on Dec. 7, 1911 she was the daughter of the late Philip and Frances Graziano.

Mrs. Chiarella was a homemaker and was formerly employed at the Hudson Knitting Mills and Rielly Mills. She was a lifelong member of Nativity/St. Mary’s R.C. Church in Stuyvesant Falls and a lifelong resident of Columbiaville.

She enjoyed music, flowers and horses and she excelled at crocheting, a hobby she enjoyed for 80 years.

Survivors include two sons, Frank and daughter -in-law Dorothy of Stuyvesant and Philip and daughter-in-law Carol of Coxsackie; three daughters, Grace (and the late Frank) Petramale of Athens, Frances and son-in-law Anthony Campeta of Valatie and Mary Ann and beloved son-in-law Joseph Pulice of Stockport; a sister, Mary Arcuri of Columbiaville; a brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Helen Graziano of Columbiaville; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the loving and devoted wife of Angelo Chiarella, who predeceased her in 1961. She is also predeceased by four brothers, Frank, Louis, Joseph and Peter Grazino.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. from Nativity/St. Mary’s Church, Stuyvesant Falls, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by the Rev. Frank O’Connor.

Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Stuyvesant Falls.

GREENVILLE -- Ann “Shelia” Galea, 70, of Greenville, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2006 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson.

Born July 30, 1936 in Queens, she was the daughter of the late William and Anne Morrison McPherson.

She was a homemaker and will be remembered as the lady walking to Bryants and the Greenville Post Office in all kinds of weather.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Robert Loverro of Princeton Junction, NJ and three grandchildren, Anthony and Anne Marie Gordon and Danielle Loverro.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Alison Giardinn.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Cunningham Funeral Hume, 4898 Route 81, Greenville.

Interment will be in the Greenville Cemetery.

EAST DURHAM -- Kathrina D. Meyer, 94, of East Durham, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006 at the Columbia-Greene Long Term Care in Catskill.

She was born in Flogen, Germany on Nov. 10, 1911, the daughter of the late Heinrich and Maria (Meyer) Sengsaken.

Kathrina came to the United States in 1929.

Kathrina and her husband, Martin, left Greenport, L.I. and moved to East Durham in 1971.

Together they ran the Riverside Inn until their retirement.

In years past she belonged to numerous German organizations in Franklin Square.

Well-known in the East Durham area, she was also a member of the Durham Senior Citizens and AARP.

Kathrina was predeceased by her husband, Martin Meyer, and a brother, Clause Sengsaken.

Kathrina’s family includes one nephew, Joahanna Segsaken of Flogen, Germany; two nieces, Anna Zipkas and Erna Cusick, both of Long Island; four grand nieces; one grand nephew and many friends.

Funeral services will be Friday at 4 p.m. at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 Route 81, Greenville.

Friends may call at the funeral home prior to the service from 2:30 to 4 p.m.

As her wishes Kathrina will be cremated and join her husband in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Kew Gardens.

Freda (Jane) Nikoncyk
Caregiver for family, many hobbies

GREENVILLE -- Freda (Jane) Van Hoesen Nikoncyk, 84, of Coeymans Hollow, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2006 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany with her family beside her side.

Jane was born in Ravena on June 28, 1922, the daughter of the late Frederick and Agnes (Smith) Van Hoesen.

She moved to Brooklyn in 1935 until 1945 when she moved back upstate to Coxsackie before permanently residing in Alcove in 1948. There she began to enjoy painting, wall papering, care giving for several family members, canning, bowling, ceramics, rug hooking, camping, vegetable and flower gardening, volunteering at clam bakes, taking her Sunday rides, making her homemade applesauce and spending time with family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Jane was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Michael Nikoncyk and her first husband, Fred W. Jane is survived by a daughter, Joy Hart Seufert and her husband, George R.; grandchildren: AnneMarie Witkowski and her husband, Matt, Robert Michael Seufert and (Jen) Deborah Jane Seufert and (Ken); a sister, Isabelle Perry and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4896 Route 81, Greenville.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Interment will be in the Alcove Cemetery.

HUNTER -- Alice E. Yankowski, 81, a resident of Millerton, formerly of Tannersville and Hunter, died suddenly of natural causes at her home on Aug. 21, 2006.

Alice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

She enjoyed family gatherings and loved watching her great-grandchildren play.

Born on Jan. 17, 1925 in Hunter, she was the daughter of the late Mark and Etta (Becker) Goodrich.

On Nov. 21, 1943, Alice married Julian Yankowski and they were together 49 years until his death in July of 1993.

For many years until her retirement, she worked for Lakeville Precision Molding in Lakeville, Conn.

She is survived by three daughters, Linda Podmayersky of Kingston, Laura Conklin of Millerton, Lois Yankowski of Tuscon, Ariz.; one son, Tom Yankowski of Manhattan; five grandchildren: Tammy Conklin, Christine Conklin Gillette, John Paul Podmayersky, Jason Podmayersky, Julia Yankowski; and four great-grandchildren, Kira, Jared and Leah Podmayersky and Zoe Gillette.

Other survivors include one sister, Marie Hughes of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; three brothers, Leon and Bob Goodrich of Hunter and Mark Goodrich of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Charles, Floyd and Lloyd Goodrich of Hunter.

Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 25, at the Aston-Basagic Funeral Home in Hunter.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at the funeral home with the Rev. Karen Monk officiating.

Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery in South Jewett.

SAUGERTIES -- Angie I. Athans, 90, of Prospect Street, died Saturday Aug. 19, 2006 at the Kingston Hospital after a brief illness.

Born Dec. 15, 1915 in Burlington, VT., she was the daughter of the late James and Aphrodite Counavelis Lines.

An area resident for many years she was a former employee of the Park and Gateway Diners in Kingston.

She also assisted her husband, Charles J. Athans and brother-in-law, Gus, in the operation of Spatz Bottling Company in Saugerties.

She was a member of St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church in Kingston and the Helenic Women’s Organization of the Church.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles, in 1997.

Survivors include one son, James C. Athans of Texas; one sister, Nickie Kanaras of Poughkeepsie; brother, Gus Line of Vermont; one grandson, Christopher Athans of Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral procession will form at 9 a.m. today at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, corner of John and Lafayette streets, to St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church where at 10 a.m. her funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Stephen Sargiannis.

Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery, Saugerties.

GREENPORT -- Marion E. Moon, formerly of Joslen Blvd., died Aug. 21, 2006 at Barnwell Nursing Home, Valatie, where she had been a resident since April 19, 2004.

Funeral services will take place Friday at 9 a.m. at the Valenti and Richards Funeral Home 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport, with the Rev. Winston Bath, pastor of the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church of Hudson officiating.

Interment next to her late husband, Albert A. Moon, will follow in the family plot of the Cedar Park Cemetery, Hudson.

She had been a lifetime resident of Hudson and a communicant of the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church of Hudson. She loved to crochet, sew, cook and bake and she also loved canning.

She is survived by a son, Frank Copit of Hopewell Junction; a daughter, Lorraine M. Wallace of Hudson; five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband she is predeceased by her father Percy Taylor and her mother Bertha (Miller) Taylor, a daughter, Doris E. Coster, a brother, Daniel Taylor and also predeceased by two grandchildren, Carol and David Costa.,

WINDHAM -- Dorothy Robinson, 87, of East Jewett, died on Aug. 22, 2006 at Eden Park Nursing Home, Catskill. She was born on April 1, 1919 the daughter of Sanford E. and Florence (Barnum) Beach in East Jewett.

She predeceased by her husband Merrill who she married on Oct. 31. 1938. He died in 1990. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Arlene Beach and Nettie Morrison.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Margaret Louise Robinson, of East Jewett and her son, Steven Beach, of North Augusta, S.C. Her sister Henrietta Lane also survives her as well as grandchildren, Karena Williams and Courtney Beach, both of North Augusta, S.C. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Carson, Brock and DJ as well as many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy worked as a chef at various homes in Onteora Park, was a member of the East Jewett Methodist Church, the East Jewett Fire Department and the Mt. Top Golden Agers. She also volunteered at the Jewett Nutrition Center. Her hobbies included quilting and bowling.

Calling hours will be at the Decker Funeral Home, Windham, today at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Howard Velzy officiating.

Interment will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Ashland.

SAUGERTIES -- Charles E. “Charlie” Rothe, 47, of Wegebauer Road died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006 as a result of injuries sustained in a tractor accident.

Born Sept. 11, 1958 in Kingston, he was the son of Charles J. and Lillie Koniuk Rothe.

A lifetime resident, he was a graduate of Saugerties High School Class of 1976.

He owned and operated Rothe Welding in Saugerties and partnered with his sister in the operation of Smokehouse of the Catskills in Veteran and Kingston.

He also owned the Maple Sugar House of the Catskills.

An avid conservationist and hunter around the world, he was a member of the Safari Club International.

He had several hunting articles published in the Safari Club International Sports Afield and the Hunting Report.

He took his family on many of his hunting excursions which took him to Africa, Alaska, Newfoundland, Mexico and much of the western United States.

In his younger years he raced motorcycles, flat track and motocross and snowmobiles.

At the age of 14 he made it to the World Series of Snowmobiles in Ironwood, Michigan.

He loved camping with his friends and family.

Besides his parents of Saugerties, survivors include his wife, the former Kris Dohnken, with whom he recently celebrated his ninth wedding anniversary; one son, David Charles Rothe; two daughters, Mary Catherine and Eva Elizabeth Rothe, all of Saugerties; one sister, Heidi A. Ferraro of Saugerties; two brothers, Michael R. and Erich J. Rothe, both of Saugerties; and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Seamon-Wiley Funeral Home, Inc., corner of John and Lafayette streets.

Interment will follow in the Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Saugerties.

CAIRO -- Elizabeth Anne (Betty) Barg, 61, of Bross Street, Cairo, died August 24, 2006 at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany, where she had been a patient since April 24, 2006.

She was born in Catskill, Sept. 16, 1944 and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Birk.

Funeral services will take place Monday, Aug. 28, 2006 at 10 a.m. at the Richards Funeral Home, Bross Street, Cairo, with the Rev. Retta Lykens, pastor of the Cairo United Methodist Church officiating.

Interment will take place in the family plot of the Cairo Cemetery.

Betty was a lifelong area resident. She loved gardening, cooking, floral arrangements, crafts and she adored her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald W. Barg of Cairo, two daughters: Rhonda Barg of Long Island and Susan Barg of South Cairo; two sisters, Caroline Ludecker of Oregon and Mary Henderson of East Durham; and two grandchildren, Willow and Ronald. Also survived by several nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Besides her parents she is predeceased by a son, Ronald.

GREENVILLE -- Margaret (Dee) Keeler, 63, of Durham Road, Oak Hill, died Friday, August 22, 2006 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson.

She was born in Newton, Mass., on Feb. 26, 1943, the daughter of LeRoy Fuller and the late Margaret (Milligan) Fuller.

She was a bookkeeper and office manager in her working years. Dee was the best mom and wife you could ever ask for. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her pets at home. She liked dancing, shopping, writing letters and going to fairs. Dee loved the country life and the outdoors.

She was predeceased by her mother, Peggy Fuller on July 28, 2003 and a sister, Donna Lee Fuller, who died as a baby.

Dee is survived by her husband, Chester (Chet) Keeler and a daughter, Susanna Keeler of Oak Hill; two sisters, Gail Fuller and Deb Ruimerman of Connecticut; her father, LeRoy Fuller; and stepmother, Pauline of Nevada; half-brother, David Fuller and his wife Tammy of Nevada; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday Aug. 30, 2006 at 7 p.m. at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 Route 81, Greenville.

COXSACKIE -- Samuel D. Davidson (Dennis), 60, of 108 Mansion St., Coxsackie, died August 24, 2006 at the V.A. Medical Center in Albany.

He was born in Oceanside on Dec. 20, 1945 and was the son of the late Samuel and Elizabeth (Meehan) Davidson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Aug. 28, 2006 at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Coxsackie. The time of the Mass will later be announced.

Private cremation will take place at the Albany Rural Crematorium in Menands.

He was an auto body repair mechanic, working in many area collision shops. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus of Ravena McCauley Council. He loved building and repairing antique cars, enjoyed assembling models, collecting stamps, fishing, boating and racing.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy A. (Jareb) Davidson of West Coxsackie; a son, Dennis R. Davidson of Rochester, a daughter, Elizabeth M. Davidson of Highland; two brothers, William Davidson and wife Judy of Long Island and Bernard Davidson and wife Virginia of Maryland; a sister, Mrs. Richard (Elizabeth) Ronston of Delaware; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he is predeceased by a brother, John Davidson.

GREENVILLE --- Wynne B. Haaland, 65, of Cairo, died suddenly Aug. 25, 2006 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson.

She was born in Blauvelt on Nov. 2, 1940, the daughter of the late Walter B. and Jane (Vanderbilt) Zaumseil.

Wynne retired from Verizon, having worked in Catskill as an operator.

She was an avid gardener and loved to paint watercolors and draw. She also loved spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren grow.

Surviving are her husband of 44 years, Turner; daughters, Kari Diehl and husband Jeffrey of Florida, Kym Miner of Cairo, Amy Haaland of Delmar and Mia Haaland of Connecticut; son, Steven Haaland and wife Patricia of Cairo; grandchildren, Kaysee Diehl, Kristine and Michael Miner, Rebecca and Kristofer Haaland; her beloved companion, Zeke; sister, Elsa Schweizer of New Jersey, brother Walter Zaumseil Jr. of Elmira; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by a brother James Zaumseil.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Cairo Resurrection Lutheran Church, Route 23B, Cairo.

Born April 24, 1937 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Edward J. Kemmer Sr. and Mary (Hutter) Kemmer.

She had been an area resident since 1991.

Survivors include a son, Derwin S. Bay of Texas; two daughters, Mary Ellis and Teresa Bay, both of Oklahoma; a sister, Elizabeth Conlon of Catskill; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Raymond D. Bay and a brother, Edward J. Kemmer, Jr.

WEST ATHENS -- Doris Cornelia Carroll, 91, long time Lime Street, West Athens resident, died Saturday, Aug. 26, at Kaaterskill Care in Catskill.

Born Jan. 28, 1915 in Catskill, she was the daughter of the late Abraham and Grace (Edgerly) Hack.

She was a member of the High Hill Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star and a charter member of the West Athens-Lime Street Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Mabel Hack of Alabama, a nephew, Grant and Helen Hack of Catskill; three nieces, Sheryl McGrath, Margo Williams and Coral Lindenfelser; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was predeceased by two husbands: Donald G. Sager in 1973 and Walter Carroll in 1999; and two brothers, Kenneth Hack and Seth Hack.

Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Traver & McCurry Funeral Home, 234 Jefferson Heights, Catskill.

LEEDS -- Mary S. Holm, 88, of Leeds, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2006 in Great Barrington, Mass.

Born Aug. 15, 1918 in Queens, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Frances (Michalizzi) Russo.

She was an area resident for 22 years. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Holm was employed as a sales clerk for a department store in New York City.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Catskill. She loved to draw, sew, bake, cook and garden and also enjoyed bird watching.

Survivors include a son, Harvey Holm of Leeds; a daughter, Gwen Lacitignola of Leeds; two brothers, Ralph and Ronald Russo of Washington; and six grandchildren, Brian, Daniel, Joshua, Michael, Kristen and Caitlin.

She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Russo and a sister, Gloria Taugen.

Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Richards Funeral Home 29 Bross St., Cairo.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Catskill.

The day of the funeral, everyone is asked to meet at the church, not at the funeral home.

SAUGERTIES --Donna Elizabeth “Betty” Moree, 66, of Tiger Maple Lane, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006 at the Kingston City Hospital, Kingston, after a brief illness.

Born July 14, 1940 in Buffalo, she was the daughter of the late Wilber and Elizabeth (Paige) Snyder.

A graduate of the Park School of Buffalo and Bryant and Stratton Business School, Mrs. Moree was a former school teacher in the Newburgh City Schools Consolidated.

A Saugerties area resident for more than 15 years, she became the office manager of the Lezette, Lachmann and Moree Business Services for approximately ten years.

She assisted in the early formation of the Saugerties Kiwanis Club in 1979.

Survivors include her husband, John H. Moree, with whom she recently celebrated their 46^th wedding anniversary; two sons, John H. Moree of Athens and Peter W. Moree of Cairo; two grandsons, Keith and Shawon Moree, both of Glasco; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family with the interment in the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Buffalo.

CATSKILL -- Clarese Clare Hawthorne, 85, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006 at her home after a short illness.

She was born Oct., 22, 1920 in Far Rockaway, Queens County.

On Feb. 21, 1943 she married Howard Hawthorne of Broad Channel, Queens County, whom she met in church. After his military service during WWII, they moved to Catskill. They were married for 41 years until his death in 1985.

A resident on Five Mile Woods Road for more than 60 years, Mrs. Hawthorne was a long-time employee of the Catskill Game Farm.

She was very active in church as a Sunday School teacher and choir member.

She was most recently a member of the Leeds Reformed Church. She was also a member of the Literary Club of Freehold, sang with Catskill Treble Choraliers for many years and was very active in the Christian Women’s Club.

Survivors include three sons: Howard Skip of Seabrook, Texas, Peter of Denver, Colo. and William Bill of Catskill; a daughter, Louise of Lakeland, Fla., eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church, 40 Woodland Ave., Catskill.

LEEDS -- Vera I. Jackson, 76, of Kelloggs Court, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2006 at Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie.

Born Nov. 17, 1929 in Saugerties, she was the daughter of the late Elwood and Ruth (Morey) Melius.

A lifetime area resident, she loved her flower gardens and reading.

Survivors include her husband, William R. Jackson, with whom she recently celebrated their 58^th wedding anniversary; one daughter, Bonnie Snyder of Cairo; two sons, Robert W. and William V. Jackson, both of Catskill; one brother, Donald Melius of Saugerties; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Evelyn McRorey.

Born in Albany on Oct. 23, 1934, he was the son of the late Eloise Cuneo and John Barkley.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Patricia (Thurer) Barkley. He is the father of John, Christine, James, David, Linda, Michelle, Mark, Kathleen and step-daughter, Kim Ann Gewer; brother of Patricia Beiger of Buffalo; grandfather of Rachel and Erika Hauser and step-granddaughter Rebecca Sellie.

VALATIE -- John V. Gulisane, 82, died Monday, Aug. 28, 2006 at Barnwell Nursing Home.

Born May 20, 1924 in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late John and Marie Rachelle Gulisane.

He served in the Army-Air Force during World War II in the China-Burma-India Theatre, receiving among other honors, the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Using mechanical skills learned as a Crew Chief aboard airplanes, John made a career repairing automobiles as owner and operator of several stations in the Catskill area.

He is survived by his wife, Mary (Lomuscio) Gulisane of Greenville; his daughters, Loretta Gulisane of Catskill and Maria Marquit of Greenville; son John V. Gulisane Jr. of Valatie; eight grandchildren, Daniel, Jared, Joseph, Jacob and Angela Gulisane, Matthew and Joshua Marquie and Corrina Marquit-Phillips; and one great-grandchild, Gavin Marquit.

John was a great story teller and a man of considerable mechanical aptitude and diverse talents. He enjoyed entertaining others and using expressions that were designed to evoke laughter and amusement. His interests included boating, fishing and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was truly a character and will be dearly missed by those who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Barnwell Activities Department resident Council, Barnwell Nursing Home, Valatie, N.Y. 12184.

Calling hours are Thursday, Aug. 31 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cunningham Funeral Home, Greenville.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Sept. 1, at 10 a.m. at the Greenville branch of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Route 41, Greenville.

Interment will be in the Saratoga National Cemetery, Saratoga Springs.

John Riescher
Grew up in Athens

BRADENTON, Fla. -- John Riescher, 70, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006 in Bradenton.

He was born June 14, 1936 in Brooklyn, the son of Percival and Veronica (Weiland) Riescher.

He grew up in Athens and attended Coxsackie-Athens High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Mr. Riescher was a plumber.

He moved with his family to Florida in 1975.

Survivors include his nine children: Helen, Mary, Rose, John, Karen, Beth, Jean, Joseph and Veronica; two brothers, Vincent and Raymond Riescher; three sisters, Veronica Goesch, Betty Ann Burger and Cecelia Barbour; and 16 grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006 at St. Patrick’s Church, 19 N. Franklin St., Athens.

There will be a small graveside service following with an open house at St. Patrick’s Father Casey Hall at noon.

Clarese Hawthorne
Beloved mother

CATSKILL -- Clarese “Clare” Hawthorne, 85, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006 at her home after a short illness.

She was born Clarese Albertine Daly, Oct., 22, 1920 in Far Rockaway, Queens County.

On Feb. 21, 1943 she married Howard Hawthorne of Broad Channel, Queens County, whom she met in church. After his military service during WWII, they moved to Catskill. They were married for 41 years until his death in 1985.

A resident on Five Mile Woods Road for more than 60 years, Mrs. Hawthorne was a long-time employee of the Catskill Game Farm.

She was very active in church as a Sunday School teacher and choir member. Those who knew her will remember her lovely soprano voice. She was currently a member of the Leeds Reformed Church. She was also a member of the Literary Club of Freehold, sang with Catskill Treble Choraliers for many years and was very active in the Christian Women’s Club.

Survivors include three sons: Howard “Skip” of Seabrook, Texas, Peter of Denver, Colo. and William “Bill” of Catskill; a daughter, Louise of Lakeland, Fla., eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

As a final wish she donated her body to the Albany Medical College, Anatomical Gift Program.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate the lif of Clare; a woman whose faith in Jesus Christ was demonstrated each day in the love and kindness she showed all those around her. Her strength, compassion, comfort , joy and enthusiasm for life will be deeply missed.

The Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2 at the United Methodist Church, 40 Woodland Ave., Catskill.

Frederick W. Janz Jr.
Korean War veteran

CATSKILL -- Frederick William Janz Jr., 76, of 85 Woodland Ave., Catskill died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson. He was born Aug. 19, 1930 in Brooklyn.

Mr. Janz served in the U.S. Navy and Army during the Korean War. He was an employee of W.B. McGuire in Hudson prior to his retirement. Fred was a member of the American Legion.

Mr. Janz is survived by two sons, Frederick Janz III of Connecticut and Bruce Janz of Hunter; three daughters, Cathy Goodrich of Hunter, LouAnn Janz of Palenville and Patricia Pilaar of Cairo; a stepson, Charles DiStasio of Atlanta, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Andrea Daisernia of North Carolina and Alana Durkee of North Carolina; a stepson, Mark Wormuth of Florida; eight grandchildren; one great-grand-daughter and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call at the Traver & McCurry Funeral Home, 234 Jefferson Heights, Catskill on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m.

Graveside funeral services with full military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Town of Catskill Cemetery. The Rev. James Clark will be officiating.

Charles Webber
Life member of Catskill Fire Department

CATSKILL -- Charles O. Webber, 81, of Catskill, died Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at the Firemen’s Home in Hudson.

He was born July 29, 1925 in Athens, the son of the late Chester and Ethel (Garrison) Webber.

Charles was a graduate of St. Patrick’s Academy in Catskill. He was an employee of Pitcher’s Accessories prior to his retirement. Charles was a Life Member of the Catskill Fire Department with over 52 years of service to his community.

Mr. Webber was predeceased by two brothers, James I. Webber on Sept. 28, 1960, and Raymond A. Webber on July 10, 2005.

Relatives and friends may call at Traver & McCurry Funeral Home, 234 Jefferson Heights, Catskill, on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. John J. Murphy will officiate. Interment will follow in Old Athens Rural Cemetery.
