Wills

Greene County, New York, in the early history of the State, was a part of Ulster and Albany County. It was made a separate and distinct county in 1800.

Wills that were probated prior to 1800 may be found either at Kingston or Albany.

The accompanying work contains the Abstract of Wills from 1802 to 1900, being copied from the records in the office of the Surrogate at Catskill, NY by RAY C. SAWYER, Volume 1, 2 and 3 copied in 1933.

Researchers interested in obtaining the full surrogate records for the period 1800 to 1920 should contact the Vedder Museum, where they are stored. For surrogate records from 1921 to the present day, contact the County Court House in Catskill.
