This Bible was brought to California from Elmira Heights, New York in 1952, where it had been in the possession of my Great Grandparents, Lee T. and Emma (Skinner) Manning, and my mother, Constance Manning Mecum. Lee Manning was the son of James and Mary Manning. Gwen M. Hunt

John L. Manning was born in the town of Clinton, Duchess County, NY August 28, 1773. He moved to Danby, Tompkins County NY in 1824. He experienced religion in 1834 and joined the Methodist Church the same year. He was elected steward and performed the duties of the office six years till 1840 when he moved to the town of Candor, Tioga County. In 1841 he moved to North Danby. In 1848 he again moved to the town of Candor where he was chosen Class Leader and held the office five years. In 1862 he moved to South Danby.
Letty Manning was born in the town of Poughkeepsie, Duchess County, NY on September 1, 1788. She experienced religion in the town of Clinton, Duchess Co. In 1812 and joined the Presbyterian church the same year. She moved into Danby, Tompkins County in 1824 and joined the Methodist Church in 1834.
