Samuel Niles of the town of Fishkill in the County of Dutchess and State of New York on the fifth day of November In the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety eight, for securing the payment of the sum of forty five pounds due to Cyrus Benjamin of the same place, on two notes bearing even date with these presents with lawful Interest on or before the first day of January next, did mortgage to the said Cyrus Benjamin one certain messuage with the appurtenances situate in the town County and State aforesaid and bounded as follows it being parcel of the farm sold by Joseph C. Cooper to Edmund Fowler Beginning at the north line of Thomas I. Storms farm running thence north eighty six degrees east three chains and forty eight links, thence north four degrees west two chains and forty five links, thence south eighty six degrees west four chains and seventy eight links to the road, thence south thirty two degrees east two chains and seventy five links to the place of Beginning containing one Acre of land � Dutchess County S. I Joseph Crane Junior on of the Judges of the Court of Common pleas for said County do Certify that on the fourth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety eight before me came Daniel Purdy (with whom I am personally acquainted) and he being duly sworn before me on Oath declareth that he the said Daniel Purdy is personally acquainted with Samuel Niles and that he saw the said Samuel Niles execute the foregoing Indenture as his Voluntary Act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned and that the said Daniel Purdy and Jeremiah Gage were subscribing witnesses thereto and finding no rasures or Interlineations other than noted at the bottom, I allow the said Indenture to be recorded ..
