I am researching the surnames DAME,DUNN,TOUGAW. Maurice DAME was my great-great- great grandfather, he died in Malone, NY. He had an uncle and aunt who ran a boarding-house in Plattsburgh during the depression, their names were Julius and Josephine DAME, I think the boarding house was on Bridge Street, but may have been on Margaret or vicinity of Margaret Street.
I would greatly appreciate any info regarding this query, as I have reached a stonewall in my research of the Malone area.
Also, does anyone know if DAME is a dit for ADDOMS, that is the rumour in our family, could anyone confirm, or point me in the direction of attempting to confirm. I do know that ADDOMS were present in the early history of Plattsburgh, at the time the PLATTS family were operating their lumber business.
A Norman DAME was said to have info on family of DAME, but has since died before I could contact him. Morris DAME and Elzina DUNN DAME were my great- grandparents, I remember rocking on my great-grandmother's knee as a small child, she died when I was four, I never knew my great-grandfather.
Morris was the of Maurice DAME, whose first wife was a GREGGWARE, she died, I don't know his second's wife's name. Julius DAME,wife Josephine(maiden name?) are said to be Maurice's aunt and uncle. Elzina DUNN DAME is the daughter of James DUNN and wife (first name?) TOUGAW DUNN.
I know I am looking for alot of different info, but I can't go any further in Malone, its just not there. I would appreciate any info concerning any part of this query. Thanks so much.

I am researching the family name of SPINNER. Here's the story I have, Allen SPINNER and his wife Adeline immigrated from Switzerland and settled in Port Henry, NY sometime in the early to mid 1840s. They had four children, William d.o.b. 1846, Joseph, Allen and Adeline. Allen SPINNER senior was said to have served in the Civil War and died in his service. A war-time friend, name of (first-name?)BRADY, brought news to Adeline of Allen's death. The two ended up getting married and moving to Franklin county, there is talk of BRADY having been in a black regiment. Does anyone know of any of this story or have anything to confirm? Any help would

Bruce C. Lyon Wed Oct 2 1996

I am interested in Nathaniel LYON, after whom Lyon Mountain is named. According to "The History of Clinton and Franklin Counties, New York," Nathaniel LYON moved to Saranac in the winter of 1803-4. I've visited the cemetery in Lyon Mountain, but could fine no LYON markers there. Where is Nathaniel LYON buried? Is the LYON Homestead memorialized in any way? The above source states that Nathaniel is related to General Nathaniel LYON of Eastford, CT, the first general officer killed in the Civil War (10 Aug 1861 at Wilson's Creek, MO). How are the two Nathaniels related? His son, Lewis LYON, was b. 18 Sep 1814 in Royalton, VT, to where Nathaniel had returned during the War of 1812, apprehensive about Indian attacks in the Clinton County region. Any genealogical information (ancestor or descendent) in addition to that cited in the above source would be appreciated.

I'm trying to find the parents of Alfred E. LYON, b. Mar 30, 1862, m. Maria NELSON, b. Aug. 27, 1862. They had 5 children before Alfred died at 36, on Sept. 29, 1898. Both are buried in Riverside Cemetery, in Plattsburgh. Their children were;Guy Nelson, Alfred E., Carlile E., George, Estella, and Kathleen. I have been looking at LYON (and NELSON) families in Clinton CTY. for a few months, so I've sorted out a few if you're just starting. About all I know about Alfred is that he attended the school that is at the end of LYON Rd. in Peru. I have looked throught the 1870, and 1880 Census (in Clinton CTY) without finding him. I've also checked the papers on microfilm at the Plattsburgh library, without finding an obituary. thanks
