Pellum Barker died at Gerard, Erie County, Pennsylvania on 18 Feb 1853, leaving a will in which John Steward was appointed one of the executors. Debts of the deceased exceed the personal estate, so John Steward requested authority to take possession of assets in Chautauqua County. Court granted the request.

In the matter of the claim of Joshua Birch against the estate of James Birch, citations had been issued to Rachel Cheney wife of Alfred Cheney, Minerva Hoag, Marietta Birch, and Telemachus Birch, heirs and next of kin of deceased. Telemachus Birch did not appear; the others were represented by Madison Burnell their counsel to contest the claim. Charles Gudenough testified. Proceedings were adjourned until 26 May 1845.

In the matter of the claim of Benjamin Hiller against the estate of John Hiller, citations had been issued to Maria Hiller widow of the deceased, Elizabeth Hiller, Catharine Hiller, John J. Hiller, Nicholas Hiller, Jacob Hiller, Richard Hiller, Polly Ottman and her husband William Ottman. John J. Hiller and Nicholas Hiller opposed payment of the claim. On 18 Aug 1846 court allowed part of the claim and disallowed the rest.

Jeremiah Mann and George Goodrich, who were appointed 1 Oct 1843 to be administrators of the estate of Eleazer Hills deceased, petitioned for an order to publish notice to creditors of the estate of Eleazer Hills. The deceased at the time of his death owed debts in Chautauqua County, New York and Erie County, Pennsylvania.

Stephen Bushee, one of the sureties in the bond of Braton Bushee, appeared and proved that Braton Bushee, administrator of the estate of Anthony Bushee deceased, had sold property and appropriated the proceeds for his own benefit. Stephen Bushee was discharged from all further liability.

p. 356 20 Nov 1848. On application of William Thomas Wilson, administrator of the estate of Preserved J. Corbin deceased, court appointed Elijah Dewey of Hanover to be one of the appraisers of the estate in place of Milton Webster who declined to serve. Court issued notice to Elijah Dewey.
p. 356 20 Nov 1848. Court ordered Otis Harris, executor of the estate of John O. Harris late of Ellery deceased, to publish notice in the Jamestown Journal.

Laura Willoughby, widow of Bethel Willoughby late of Sheridan deceased, represented by her counsel Albert Richmond, petitioned to set aside the appraisal and inventory of her late husbands estate, claiming that she had not received appropriate personal property from the estate based on the law of 1843. Asahel Camp, executor of the estate of Bethel Willoughby, was represented by his counsel Chester Howe. Court ordered that more personal property be granted to the widow.
