“ A sadly neglected cemetery.”

Young’s History of Chautauqua  says that Jonathan R. Reynolds bought land
in lot 32 in Sherman, March 1823.  The following year he built a cabin for
himself and the family of his father.  This probably is Levi Reynolds.

On page 528 Young’s states that in 1817 Israel Palmer, a native of
Dutchess County emigrated to the town of Ripley and settled 3 miles
south of Quincy.  He had a son Israel Jr. who is listed in the 1874
county directory.  This must be Israel Sr.  Israel Jr. had a son
George W. who graduated from Albany Law School in 1857 and
made quite a name for himself in NYCity.
