SALAMANCA - Donald M. Black, 74, of Salamanca, formerly of Taylor Hollow Road, Collins, N.Y., died Wednesday (Sept. 8, 2004) at his home. 
He was born Aug. 31, 1930, in Buffalo, the son of the late Alvin Joseph and Sophie J. Fronckowiak Black.
A Salamanca resident for 18 years and a Collins resident for 23 years, he served in the U.S. Marines from 1951-53 during the Korean Conflict, having attained the rank of corporal. He was a crane operator for Bethlehem Steel until his retirement in 1984.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley A. Schultz Black of Salamanca, whom he married Feb. 6, 1954; two sons: Michael Black of Wiesbaden, Germany, and Daniel Black of Toronto, Calif.; a daughter, Jeanne Malngren of Allegany; four grandchildren: Jon, Lisa and Sarah Malngren, all of Allegany, and Joshua Black of Wiesbaden; two sisters: Christine Myer of Cattaraugus and Patricia Dahlke of Buffalo; and a brother, Joseph Black of Washington, D.C. He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Black Burial will be in the Villenova Cemetery in the town of Villenova.

BOROWIAK
Daniel L. Borowiak, age 50, of Dye Road, Forestville died Saturday, February 18th, 2006 at his residence following a lengthy illness. Son of Thomas Borowiak of Lancaster, husband of Lynn (Sawyer) Borowiak, father of Jaye Borowiak and Melissa Borowiak, all of Forestville, brother of Mrs. Michael (Donna) DePasquale of Cape Coral, FL. and Mrs. Daniel (Teresa) Janisch of Elmira. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother, Sally Anne (Hilliker) Borowiak and by a sister, Sandra Jean Borowiak.

formerly of Conewango Valley, died Sunday (Sept. 24, 2000) in the home of her daughter
in Denver.She was born April 24, 1942, in Jamestown, the daughter of Gweneth Clement Darling and the late Glenn C. Darling.
She was a 1960 graduate of Pine Valley Central School and also graduated from Foothill
College in Los Altos Hills, Calif., and San Jose State University, earning a bachelor’s
degree with honors.Besides her mother of Tucson, Ariz., she is survived by a son, W. James Chyu of Denver; a daughter, Dr. Jacquelyn K. Chyu of Denver; a brother, Dr. Larry Darling of Roxbury, N.Y.; and a sister, Linda Powell of Fredonia.She was preceded in death by her father, who died Oct. 29, 1998.Burial will be in Villenova

DANKER
Milton H. Danker - FORESTVILLE - Milton H. Danker, 99, a self-employed carpenter, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005 at Lake Shore Hospital, Irving. He was born October 14, 1906 in Town of Villenova, NY, the son of the late John James and Ina (Goldthwaite) Danker. Milton owned and operated his own dairy farm for many years and also served as road commissioner for the Town of Villenova for two years, working for the town of Villenova for a number of years in his younger days. He is survived by Philip D. Danker (son) of Shalimar, FL, Emily B. Danker (daughter-in-law) of Shalimar, FL, Larry L. Danker (son) of Boca Raton, FL, Jeffrey L. Danker (grandson) of Chatham, NJ, Cathy L. Rozboril (granddaughter) of Napierville, IL, Cindy M. Skrepcinski (granddaughter) of Plano, TX, Susan K. Mathews (granddaughter) of Soldotna, AK, Brian L. Danker (grandson) of Fairport, NY, Kevan J. Danker (grandson) of Ruckersville, VA and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen E. Park Danker; his son James M. Danker; his sister, Mildred L. Howard; his sister Clara Elizabeth Holmer; and his daughter-in-law Onnolee M. Colander Danker. He was an avid gardener and loved birds. He enjoyed working with his John Deere which he was working with just days before his passing. .
Burial will be in the Villenova Cemetery in Town of Villenova.

EASTERLY
Allen A. Easterly, 80, of the Chautauqua County Home, formerly of Route 83, died Wednesday (March 24, 2004) in the facility.
He was born April 19, 1923, in New York City, the son of Floyd and Esther Abbey Easterly.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma M. Bewley Easterly of South Dayton, whom he married July 20, 1957; and two sons: Rick A. Easterly of Rochester and Kevin Easterly of Cherry Creek. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harvey Easterly. Burial will be in Villenova Cemetery

FARNHAM
Clefton H. Farnham, 83, of 1909 14th St., Court West, formerly of Balcoms Corners, South Dayton, died Sunday (April 22, 2001) in Manatee Memorial Hospital, Bradenton, Fla. He was born May 5, 1917, in Brocton, the son of Ransom and Grace Matteson Farnham. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy in the European Theater. He was general manager for the 1977 Jamestown Expos of the NY-P League and was employed as a master agent of the Equitable Life Assurance Co. in Jamestown for 25 years, retiring in 1982. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 1593, South Dayton, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2522, Cherry Creek As a boy in Florida, he once caddied for Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Bill Dickey. He is survived by two daughters: Dale Ann Pchelka of Forestville and Dawn LaTone of Jamestown; two sons: Danny Farnham of South Dayton and Dana Farnham of Palmetto, Fla.; eight grandchildren five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Gail S. Farnham of Waxahachie, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy ‘‘Doe’’ Farnham, whom he married Nov. 20, 1942, and who died Aug. 1, 1998.

FISHER
Roy L. Fisher, 85, of Forestville died Saturday (Dec. 11, 2004) at home.
He was born Aug. 26, 1919, in Phelps, N.Y., the son of Jacob and Jennie Selleck Fisher.
He is survived by his wife, Emily I. Hillebert Fisher, whom he married Nov. 8, 1941, in Lyons, N.Y.; two daughters: Yvonne Park of Forestville and Wendy Sue Frost of Cherry Creek; a son, Donald L. Fisher of Hickory, N.C.; seven grandchildren: Jeffery Park of Forestville, Gregory Park of Connelley Springs, N.C., Jacqueline Gibbons of Ballston Lake, N.Y., Kevin Fisher of Hickory, Keith Fisher of Lenoir, N.C., and Joshua and Ian Frost, both of Cherry Creek; and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald L. Fisher, who died in 1980; five brothers: Frank, Laverne, Loren, Eugene and Walter Fisher; and three sisters: Alice Lincoln, Hazel Goodman and Nettie Tillman.

FORESTVILLE - Donald N. Howard, 81, of Dye Road, Forestville, died at 12:40 p.m. Friday (Sept. 2, 2005) in Lake Shore Hospital, Irving. He was born April 3, 1924, in Villenova, the son of the late Orville and Mildred Danker Howard. He was a graduate of the former South Dayton High School in 1942. He owned and operated a dairy and beef farm in Villenova and was a local truck driver. He is survived by his wife, Inez Congdon Howard of Forestville, whom he married Dec. 15, 1944, in the Forestville Baptist Parsonage; three sons: Kenneth Howard of Forestville, Arthur Howard of Silver Creek and Robert Howard of Forestville; a daughter, Brenda Eaton of Cattaraugus; a brother, Richard Howard of Forestville; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; several step grandchildren; and several step great-grandchildren. Interment will follow in Villenova Cemetery, South Dayton.

HOWARD
Clifford Ray HOWARD 84, died Thursday (Oct. 15, 1981) in Tri-County Memorial Hospital, Gowanda.
He was born Nov. 11, 1896, in the town of Pomfret, the son of Clarence L. & Dora PIERCE HOWARD.
He had owned & operated a dairy farm, retiring 10 years ago. Aveteran of WWI, he was a member of Hamlet United Methodist Church & Villenova Grange No. 604.
Surviving are his wife, the former Eva Mable HILLS, whom he married Oct. 29, 1919; a son Phillip R. HOWARD of Warren, PA; a daughter , jean C.ESTUS of Balcoms Corners, S. Dayton; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a brother, Dollard J. HOWARD of Brockport, PA, & 3 sisters: Frances KELLEY & Ella M. HOWARD, both of Stockton & Ruth COE of Brocton.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Chauncy L. HOWARD & 5 sisters; Mabel ANDERSON, Jesse KELLEY, Bertha KELLEY, Gladys BUSH & Fannie BOGUE.

INGERSOLL
Ruth B. Ingersoll, 88, died Saturday (Dec. 18, 2004) at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk.
She was born Oct. 1, 1916 in the Town of Villenova, N.Y., the daughter of the late George and Jane P. (Matteson) Percy.
Mrs. Ingersoll lived on Maple Street in South Dayton for most of her adult life and moved to Farrington Hollow, Cherry Creek to live with her daughter, Barbara, when she needed assistance due to failing health.
A graduate of South Dayton High School, Class of 1933, she was a cafeteria worker for Pine Valley Central School for 10 years. She was the oldest member of the South Dayton Free Methodist Church, where she was pianist for 40 years Surviving are three daughters, Yvonne K. Brumagin of Cattaraugus, Cheryl A. (Duane) Hill of Cattaraugus, and Barbara J. (Keith) Crowell of Cherry Creek; seven grandchildren, Vicky Willibey of New Albion, Kirk Brumagin of Cattaraugus, Tammy Brumagin of Cherry Creek, Scot Brumagin of Cattaraugus, Kimberly Hill of Cattaraugus, Jennifer Cave of Fredonia and Amanda Crowell of Tonawanda; and five great-grandchildren, Tyler Willibey of New Albion, Alyssa Willibey of New Albion, Riley Brumagin of Cattaraugus, Kaylin Brumagin of Cattaraugus and Brody J. Cave of Fredonia..
She was preceded in death by her husband, Barton H. Ingersoll, whom she married Oct. 1, 1937 and who died Oct. 18, 1977.

JAY CAPRINO
Bessie Nellie Jay, 78, died Friday (May 23, 2003) in Brooks Memorial Hospital, Dunkirk.
She was born Sept. 24, 1924, in Jamestown, the daughter of Sebastian and Josephine Vitanza Caprino.
She is survived by her husband, Edgar H. Jay of South Dayton, whom she married Dec. 20, 1941; a son, Robert D. Jay of South Dayton; a daughter, Michele I. Towns of New Port Richey, Fla.; eight grandchildren: Shannon and Bryce Jay, Ashley Weiss and Erin Selle, all of South Dayton, Lisa Dixon of Keleen, Texas, Laurie Ortiz of Dunkirk, and Tiana and Adam Stebbins, both of New Port Richey; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: Joseph Caprino, who died in 1970, and Russell Caprino who died in 1987.

Harrie R. Kelley, 52, of Route 39, died Wednesday (Oct. 20, 1999) in Brooks Memorial Hospital, Dunkirk. He was born Jan. 1, 1947, in the town of Villenova, the son of the late Harrie E. and Jenette M. Baker Kelley. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. a member of the South Dayton American Legion Post 1593 and the Pine Valley Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2522. He is survived by a brother, Frank E. Kelley of Forestville; and three sisters: Corrina A. Haskins of Springbrook, N.Y., Lorena K. Brisley and Julia A. Kelley, both of South Dayton. He is preceded in death by his father on March 21, 1979, and his mother on March 21, 1990; two brothers: Calvin J. Kelley and Leon ''Toby'' Kelley on Feb. 23, 1983; and a sister, Nancy M. The body of Curtis George Mather, 31, formerly of Lakewood who was electrocuted Tuesday in Porterville, Cal., when he came in contact with a high tension line, will be sent to Henderson-Lincoln funeral Home for funeral services there at 3 p.m. Saturday. A prayer service will be conducted at the Jaquay Funeral Home, South Dayton at 2 p.m. Sunday with interment following in Villenova Cemetery.

Bertha G. Meyers, 77, a retired cook for Pine Valley Central School,where she worked for 41 years, died Saturday (April 10, 2004) at the Lake Shore Nursing Home.
She was born March 14, 1927, in the town of Dayton, the daughter of the late Levi and Esther Gay Palmer.
Surviving are a companion, Kuttle Ward of South Dayton; two sons: Norris L. and John H. Meyers, both of South Dayton; two daughters: Linda A. Exford of Conewango Valley and Susan J. Meyers of Cattaraugus; a sister, Carol B. ''Midge'' Bromley of Conewango Valley; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville N. Meyers, who died April 7, 1978; two sisters: Ruth Austin and Georgine McBratnie; and a brother, Nelson Palmer.

McCONNELL
Joseph W. ''Bill'' McConnell Jr., 70, died Tuesday (June 10, 2003) in Lake Shore Hospital, Hanover. He was born June 9, 1933, in Brockway, Pa., the son of the late Joseph W. McConnell and Ruth A. Knale McConnell Knoll. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Korean Conflict. attained the rank of corporal and was discharged on March 31, 1961. He is survived by his wife, Marcella G. McConnell, whom he married Sept. 15, 1956; two daughters: Lisa A. McConnell of South Dayton and Lori J. Steward of Ellington; two grandchildren: Garret W. Hansen and Kaleb J. Steward, both of Ellington; two stepgrandchildren: Amanda and Hannah Steward of Falconer; his stepmother, Mildred ''Millie'' McConnell of Oakfield, N.Y.; a stepbrother, Michael McConnell of Orchard Park, N.Y.; and a stepsister: Janet Torrey of Batavia. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Clarence Knoll.

PJ: 12/11/1998: Baton Rouge, La. Ralph K. Mosher, 83, of Lee Dr., formerly of Greenhurst and South Dayton, died at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998, in Our Lady of
the Lake Regional Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 14, 1915 in Cottage, NY, the son of
Isaac and Nellie Abbey Mosher.
Formerly he owned Harry Austin Milling Inc. in South
Datyon and was a member of the South Dayton United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Austin Mosher; two sons: Kenneth Mosher of South Dayton and Lynn Mosher of Falconer; three daughters: Kendrick Madison of Hamburg, Kerneith Blakely of Mukilteo, Wash., Mary Sanders of Baton Rouge; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Zoe Austin Mosher; a granddaughter, Kazan Lee Mosher; and a sister, Doris Smith.
Burial will be in Villenova Cemetery, South Dayton.


ORTEL
Evalyn G. Ortel, age 91, a resident of the Chautauqua County Home, Dunkirk, formerly of Bartlett Hill Road, South Dayton, died Saturday, December 17th, 2005 at her residence. Mrs. Ortel was born in Gerry, NY on December 11, 1914, the daughter of the late Harvey L. and Mae (Simmons) Geer. She was a graduate of Forestville High School, Fredonia Normal School, and the former Doyle Beauty School in Buffalo.
Survivors include 1 son Sidney V. (Janice) Ortel of South Dayton. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Raymond C. Ortel, whom she married May 6, 1933 in Forestville and who died December 22, 1996, by 3 sons Terry A. Ortel, Dallas W. Ortel, Sr., Raymond J. Ortel, and by 3 brothers Floyd Simmons, William Simmons, and Richard Simmons.burial in Villenova Cemetery


NOBLES
Marc H. Nobles, 72, of Danker Road, died Thursday (June 12, 2003) at his residence.
He was born July 17, 1930, in Villenova, N.Y., the son of the late Harry and Nellie Austin Nobles.
He was a 1948 graduate of South Dayton High School. He served in the Army during the Korean conflict, having attained the rank of private first class. He enlisted on Nov. 15, 1951, in Buffalo and was discharged Nov. 14, 1953, at Fort Sheridan, Ill. He received the Korean Service Medal, the Bronze Service Star, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was a self-employed carpenter from 1953-64 and then joined the carpenters Union Local 66 in Olean until his retirement in 1993.
He is survived by his wife, Donna J. Smith Nobles of South Dayton, whom he married Jan. 9, 1954; three sons: Paul M. Nobles of Westchester, Pa., David S. Nobles of Staunton, Va., and Douglas J. Nobles of Waterloo, N.Y.; one daughter, Nancy E. Bravo of Elkridge, Md.; four brothers: Austin, Norris and Higley Nobles, all of South Dayton, and H. Jack Nobles of Jerome, Mich.; one sister, Alta Nobles of Waynesboro, Va.; and seven grandchildren: Brian and Adam Bravo of Elkridge, Nicholas and Tara Nobles of Waterloo, Sean Purdy of Cattaraugus, Benjamin and Harry Max Nobles of Staunton.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Ryder.

Sharon Ruth Press, 63, of South Dayton Silver Creek Road, died Thursday (Jan. 15, 2004) in her home. She was born Feb. 9, 1940, in Sherman, the daughter of the late Clifford J. and Laura R. Mower Rugg. She is survived by her husband, George H. Press of Forestville, whom she married Oct. 7, 1961; three sons: Robert M. Richter of Fredonia, Timothy G. Press of Forestville and Galen H. Press of South Dayton; three daughters: Brenda G. Himes and Teresa M. Heitzenrater, both of Gowanda, and Sara F. Morgis of Fredonia; 20 grandchildren; three great-grandsons; two brothers: William Rugg of Taylorsville, N.C., and George Rugg of East Otto; and four sisters: Margaret Clark of Silver Creek, Barbara Lincoln of Kenosha, Wisc., Roberta Carpenter of Anchorage, Alaska, and Linda Millet of Rugby, Ind.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Miller who died in 2000.Burial will be in Villenova Cemetery in the town of Villenova.

SCOTT
PJ: 6/1/2002: Hellen M. Scott, 86, formerly of South Dayton, died Thursday (May 30, 2002) in the Lutheran Retirement Home. She was born Aug. 13, 1915 in South Stockton, the daughter of Marshall D. and Mary W. Wakeman Hale.
She was a graduate of Sinclairville High School, Fredonia Normal School and earned a bachelors degree from the State College at Fredonia. She began her teaching career in one-room schoolhouses including South Hill and South Stockton, and later taught second-grade at Pine Valley Central School for 27 years.She is survived by two sons: Glenn H. and Arthur H. Scott, both of South Dayton; two daughters: Gene M. Morey of South Dayton and Lois E. McSweeney of Gowanda; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and a brother, George Hale of Jamestown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren W. Scott, whom she married June 20, 1936, and who died Feb. 4, 1990.Burial will be in Villenova Cemetery in the town of Villenova.

STEARNS
Woodrow Wilson Stearns, 91, died Wednesday (Dec. 8, 2004) in the Gowanda Nursing Home. He was born Jan. 15, 1913, in Lusk, Wyo., the son of the late Elmer and Musette Fallensbee Stearns. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army from Sept. 22, 1942, to Dec. 5, 1945, and attained the rank of private first class. He had been employed by Sterling Worth as a furniture repairman, retiring in 1976. He was a member of St. John Fisher Catholic Church, the American Legion Post 1593 and the Cherry Creek VFW. He is survived by his wife, Mary ''Chris'' Stearns, whom he married June 21, 1969, in Gowanda. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Gordon, George and Ernest Stearns; and three sisters: Glady Germanraz, Esther Bush and Marvel Stone.

TILLER
Lee E. Tiller, 79, died Monday (Feb. 9, 2004) in Tri-County Memorial Hospital.
He was born Jan. 19, 1925, in Lakeland, Fla., the son of Edmund and Doris Hunt Tiller.
He was a 1943 graduate of North Collins High School and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force from Nov. 17, 1943, to March 16, 1946, and attained the rank of corporal. He earned the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, a Bronze Star, the American Ribbon, the Good Conduct Ribbon and the World War II Victory Medal. He is survived by his wife, Ella May Tiller of South Dayton, whom he married April 24, 1976; two sons: Robert and Ronald Tiller, both of Gowanda; a stepdaughter, Roberta Sawyer of Gowanda; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a stepson, James E. Luce.

TRUDELL FARGO
Melva F. Trudell, 87, died Monday (Dec. 20, 2004) in TLC Tri-County Campus, Gowanda. She was born Oct. 4, 1917, the daughter of Guy C. and Florence Hitchcock Fargo. She is survived by a son, Ronald B. Hackett of Little Valley; five grandchildren: Beth Hackett of Little Valley, Susan Seichrist of Woodside, Calif., Rebecca Mack of Webster, and Karen Leach and Phillip Hackett, both of Shortville; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Trudell, who died in 1998; a son, Ted B. Hackett; a sister, Mynetta Fluker; and a brother, Guy Carlton Fargo Jr.

VENTO Vanderwark
Dorothy Elizabeth Vento, age 96, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007 at the Chautauqua County Home in Dunkirk She was born May 18, 1911 in Centralia, NY, the daughter of the late Floyd and Clara (Dunnet) Van Dewark. Surviving are three daughters, June Rose Forestville, NY, Jacqueline Frame of Sherrard, IL, Gloria Vento of Fredonia, NY; two sons, Frederick Rose of Omaha, NE, and George Vento of Loundesville, SC; 18 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 15 great great grandchildren; one great great great grandchild; and a sister, Madeline Morawski of St. Petersburg, FL. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Vento Sr. in 1979; two sons, Lawrence Vento Jr. and Earl Rose; her stepdaughter, Nancy Glanowski; her granddaughter, Sharlene Drewniak; her stepgrandson, Walter Glanowski; her two brothers, Warren Dewark and Norman Van Dewark; and her sister, Clara Kimbrough.
Burial will be in the Villenova Cemetery in South Dayton
