ABBEY
Eldred W. Abbey, 82, of Lutheran Social Services, formerly of Frewsburg, died Friday (April 2, 2004) in the facility.
He was born Aug. 5, 1921, in Onoville, the son of Ward and Lucy Arnold Abbey.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by a daughter, Lori Kelsey of Sinclairville; three sons: Daniel, Ernest and J.R. Abbey, all of Jamestown; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Morton Abbey; four brothers: Herbert, Stanley, Wesley and Clayton Abbey; and five sisters: Lillian Niles, Addie Jones, Bessie Blood, Mable Larson and Gertrude Marsh. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg.

FREWSBURG-Funeral services were held Friday afternoon for Sidney G. ANDERSON at the Frewsburg United Brethren church. Rev. J. C. STRONG officiated assisted by Rev. Dr. Z. A. WEIDLER. Music was furnished by Mrs. Porter BLAIR, Mrs. Frank KNAPP and Mrs. Ward WHITE. The bearers were Laverne LARSON, Lynn BENSON, Sidney G. ANDERSON, Burnett DONELSON, Eugene DONELSON and Lloyd DONELSON. Interment was in Maple Grove cemetery, Frewsburg.

ANDERSON,
Gordon L. Anderson Jr., 80, of Danielson Place, died at 11:41 p.m. Tuesday (July 22, 2003) in WCA Hospital.
He was born March 13, 1923, in Jamestown, the son of Gordon L. and Ella Simonsen Anderson. He was a graduate of Frewsburg High School and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in the military police serving in India. He earned his master's degree in the College of Forestry in Syracuse. Prior retirement, he was the general manager over the Creawood Christmas Tree Farm in Kirtland, Ohio. In earlier years, he managed Zaleski State Forest in Zaleski, Ohio.He is survived by his wife, Veronica Koziol Anderson, whom he married Jan. 29, 1949, in Syracuse; two sons: John G. Anderson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Mark P. Anderson of Frewsburg; a daughter, Christine Herbst of Columbus, Ohio; two grandchildren: Anne-Marie Herbst of Columbus and Luke Anderson of Mentor, Ohio; two sisters: Chadine Williams of Frewsburg and Gordine Duell of Mesa, Ariz.

Ruth E. Anderson, 79, of 5 Dodge Cross Road, died at 12:32 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 22, 2001) in WCA Hospital. She was born April 30, 1921, in Warren, the daughter of Carl and Lillian Birdessa Schell Haller. She is survived by three sons: Ronald Anderson of Frewsburg, Sherwood Anderson of Kennedy and William Anderson of Divide, Colo.; eight grandchildren: two great-grandchildren; three brothers: Claud Haller of Sinclairville, Leland Haller of Russell and Ralph Haller of Kiantone; and a sister, Norma Cable of Russell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Anderson, and a sister, Joyce Laurence Smith. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg.

PJ: 1/23/1999: Herbert E. "Hub" Anderson, 93, formerly of 198 Hazeltine Ave., died at 4:55 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 21, 1999) in the Heritage Green Health Care Center.
A lifelong area resident, he was born Dec. 25, 1905, in Frewsburg, the son of the late Herman and Myra Wolcott Anderson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II from January 1943 to October 1945.He is survived by his wife, the former Vivian I. Luce, whom he married Jan. 14, 1955; a son, Keigh Vandewark of Jamestown; a daughter, Jean Stowell of Jamestown; five grandchildren:18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Glenn "Bud" Vandewark; a sister, Isabelle Hancq; and three brothers: Ralph, Allan and Percy Anderson.

She was born Feb. 19, 1938, in Ashville, the daughter of Ira R. and Genevieve Davenport Waid. Surviving are her husband, David B. Andrews, whom she married March 14, 1996, in Florida; two daughters: Amy J. Radack of Durham, N.C., and Christa L. Moore of Falconer; two sons: Bart E. Griffin of Longs, S.C., and Dan D. Griffin of Dunkirk; six grandchildren: two stepchildren: Patrick D. Andrews of Orchard Park and Kelly L. Potter of Allegany; three step grandchildren: three sisters: Kathryn E. Bollen of Baltimore, Jeanette E. Barbagallo of Las Vegas and Susan E. Ellis of Frewsburg. She was preceded in death by her father on Nov. 29,1974; her mother on Feb. 22, 1994; and a brother, Gordon I. Waid, on April 9, 1979. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg.

She is survived by a son, David R.‘‘Skip’’ Axelson of Frewsburg; a daughter, Susan Wright of Fluvanna; four grandchildren: Kevin Wright of Lancaster, Shawn Wright of Chillicothe, Ohio; Scott R. Axelson of Milford, N.H., and Mark D. Axelson of Jamestown; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph C. Axelson, who died Jan. 15, 1973; a granddaughter, Wendy Axelson, who died Nov. 27, 1992; and two sisters: Bernice Eckman and Ruth Anderson; and a brother, Carl Lindstrom. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg.

Earl H. Bastian, 75, of 158 N. Pearl St., Frewsburg, died at 7:45 a.m. Friday (July 13, 2001) in WCA Hospital. He was born Dec. 18, 1925, in Findley Lake, the son of Erving and Alyce Shures Bastian. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife, Ethel Gibbs Bastian, whom he married Oct. 3, 1947; two sons: Robert Bastian of Denver, N.C., and Kendall Bastian of Frewsburg; a daughter, Kathy Moore of Warren; five grandchildren: four brothers: Harold Bastian of Falconer, Clyde Bastian of Lakewood, Gordon Bastian of Jamestown and Robert Bastian of Dalton, Ga.; two sisters: Lois Taylor and Joan Smith, both of Jamestown. Patty L. ''Luce'' Bedell, 72, of 514 Starlite Drive, Elizabethtown, Ky., formerly of Great Valley and Onoville, died Friday (Feb. 25) at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
She was born Dec. 7, 1932, in Bradford, the daughter of Earl ''Pete'' and Lenore Wilson Holsinger. She was a graduate of Bradford High School and had owned and operated Luce's General Store in Onoville.She is survived by her husband, Alan Bedell of Elizabethtown; a son, Greg Luce of Frewsburg; two daughters: Dana Grann of Jamestown and Jan Meyer of Rineyville, Ky.; two brothers: Jack Holsinger of Frewsburg and Gary Holsinger of New Smyrna, Fla.; a sister, Janet Burch of New Smyrna, Fla.; seven grandchildren:She was preceded in death by her first husband, Revie W. Luce, who died Oct. 26, 1972.

PJ: Dec. 22, 1980: Ruth E. Berg, 70, of Kiantone Road, R.D. 5, Jamestown, died at 3:35 a.m. today (Dec. 22, 1980) at her home. Before her retirement three years ago, she was a public health nurse for Chautauqua County for many years. She had previously taught nursing at WCA Hospital and earlier had been supervisor at Warren General Hospital.
A Jamestown area resident since 1914, Miss Berg was born in Shabbona, Ill., Aug. 25, 1910, a daughter of Carl A. and Gertie Evaline Swanson Berg.Surviving are two sisters, Esther Nordine of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and Grace Wuertier of Jamestown; four brothers, Carl Berg of Frewsburg, Roger S. Berg of Kiantone, Clare A. Berg of Dutch Hollow Road, Bemus Point, and Harold H. Berg of South Main Street Extension. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Anna Berg, who died in 1978.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Clair E. Cable, pastor of Kiantone Congregational Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery,

Margaret L. Bradish, 81, formerly of Buffalo, died at 11:05 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 26, 2003) in Warren Manor.
She was born Jan. 21, 1922, in Russell, the daughter of William and Anna Bell Burch.She is survived by a son, Albert Hawley of Warren; three daughters: Janice Fox and Joyce Brown, both of Warren, and Judy Hamm of Franklin, N.C.; 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Kathleen Bragg, 80, of Bethel Estates, died Thursday (Dec. 30, 2004) in Kenmore Mercy Hospital. She was born Jan. 3, 1924, in Caribou, Maine, the daughter of Carise and Annie Burbe Cote. She is survived by a daughter, Peggy Petkov, Hamburg; three sons: Reynold Bragg of Frewsburg, and Donald and Delson Bragg, both of Houston; four grandchildren: Jeffrey Bragg of Grovetown, Ga., Julie Petkov Adams of Cary, N.C., Jason Petkov of Hamburg and Timothy Bragg of Frewsburg; a brother, Gilbert Cote; and three sisters: Mildred Herbert, Myrtle Lefebzre and Jeanette Graffam, all of Maine.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent F. Bragg; and a son, Vernold Bragg.

A resident of Bemus Point since 1947, he was born in Onoville, Nov. 14, 1884, the son of Benjamin and Prusia Hall Brown. He attended the First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg

He was born April 22, 1909, in Patton, Pa., the son of Sebastian and Dorothy Burke Burkey Surviving are his wife, Josephine Diethrick Burkey, whom he married Nov. 23, 1932; two daughters: Betty Puleo of Jamestown and Janet Gustafson of Frewsburg; two sons: Donald and Kenneth Burkey, both of Warren, Ohio; 13 grandchildren: 20 great- grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Maurice Burkey of Patton; and a sister, Mildred Thomas of Hastings, Pa. He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg.

Dorothy D. Cameron, 83, of 43 Institute St., Frewsburg, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2005 in WCA Hospital. She was born May 15, 1922 in Jamestown, the daughter of Ernest L. and Dora E. Johnson Danielson. Dorothy was caregiver to her two sisters: Alice and Gladys.
She is survived by a nephew, Dr. J. Robert Johnson; two nieces: Bonnie Stockwell and Carol Spinner; seven great-grandnieces and grandnephews: Dorothy is also survived by 12 great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Cameron; a brother, Ernest ''Bud'' Danielson; and three sisters: Gladys Barrett, Alice Brook and Carolyn Johnson.

Born in Sweden, August 15, 1881, he had resided in Greenhurst for the last 26 years, coming there from Frewsburg. He attended the Falconer public schools and was confirmed at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Falconer.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Emma Erickson Carlson, a daughter, Mrs. Raymond Swanson, Greenhurst, four sons, C. Stanley and Clifford H. Carlson, Greenhurst, Jerome E. and Everett R. Carlson, Jamestown; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Elmer A. Peterson, Falconer, Mrs. Albert Westling, Frewsburg, Mrs. Alton Casselman, Maple Springs; and a brother, Alem Carlson, Ashville. He was preceded in death by a son, Lavern Carlson, who died in 1940. interment in the family lot in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg.

PJ:7/6/2002 Thomas D. Cave, 93, formerly of 6162 Davis Road, Mayville, died at 8:15 p.m. Thursday, July 4, 2002, in the Rouse Warren County Home, Youngsville, Pa.
He was born Nov. 6, 1908, at Steamburg, the son of Alfred and Drucilla Wright Cave.
Surviving are a son, Donald A. Cave of Mayville: three daughters: June M. Seiberg and Barbara L. Healey, both of Mayville, and Linda Cave of Ashville; 13 grandchildren:
31 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Herbert Cave of Frewsburg and Edward Cave of Gasport, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Doris Derby, whom he married Nov. 26, 1930, in Kennedy, and who died May 14, 1992; and by a sister, Mildred Grout.
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg
COONS SWANSON
Phyllis M. Coons, 75, of Oakland, Tenn., formerly of Frewsburg and Kiantone, died Sunday (March 7, 2004) in the Methodist LeBonhur Germantown Hospital, Germantown.
She was born June 25, 1928, in Jamestown, the daughter of W. Dale Crow and Lillian Adams Crow Swanson. She is survived by a son, Dana E. Coons of Londonderry, N.H.; two daughters: Beverly J. Andrews of Linden, N.C., and Janice M. David of Oakland; seven grandchildren: seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Norman D. Crow of Jamestown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Coons; a granddaughter, Sharon Marie Coons; and her stepfather, Sigfred Swanson Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.

PJ: undated clipping: ca 1951: Frewsburg: Mrs. Katherine Myers Cox, 79, of 186 Main Street, Frewsburg, wife of Joseph C. Cox, died suddenly at her home at 11:30 p.m. Sunday.
She was born May 1872 at Frewsburg, the daughter of William Nelson and Susan B. Myers. Mrs. Cox attended the public schools and was graduated from Frewsburg High School. Mr. and Mrs. Cox were married August 27, 1903 and had resided in this area, except for several years spent in Akeley, Pa., and Cumberland, Md.
Mrs. Cox was active in civic and community organizations and formerly took part in the Parent-Teacher Association affairs. She was a member of the Frewsburg Methodist Church, the Woman's Society of World Service and the Philathea Class of the Church and the Frewsburg Study Club.
Surviving besides her husband, are a son, Donald M. Cox of Frewsburg; a brother, J. B. Myers of Relay, Md., and several nieces and nephews.
The body is at the Blair Funeral Home, 8 Water Street, Frewsburg, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Rev. E. W. Alice Marie Hart Cronin, 84, of Franklin, Ind., formerly of Jamestown, died Thursday (May 20, 2004) in the Franklin United Methodist Community Health Care.
A native of Jamestown she was born May 1, 1920, the daughter of Frank and Alice Butts Hart.
She was the widow of William A. Cronin, who died in November 1981.
She is survived by two daughters: the Rev. Dr. Deborah K. Cronin of Bloomington, Ind., and Sherrie M. Ellis of South Bend, Ind.; and three grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Cronin was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and John Sidney Hart.

Ruth K. Davis, 75, of 193 Aldren Ave., formerly of Frewsburg and Carlisle, Pa., died at 12:21 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 3, 2001) in WCA Hospital. She was the widow of Homer F. Davis, whom she married Dec. 31, 1946, in Frewsburg, and who died Jan. 1, 1979. An area resident most of her life, she was born Jan. 8, 1926, in Jamestown, the daughter of Harry W. and Mary Ellen Carstater Kline. She was a 1944 graduate of Frewsburg High School, a 1948 graduate of Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, with a B.S. degree in education, and a 1971 graduate of SUNY at Fredonia with a master’s degree in education. She had been employed as a teacher by the Bemus Point School in 1958 and later in 1967 for 17 years by the Falconer Central School system. She served as a missionary teacher with Wycliffe Bible Translators Inc., primarily in Porto Velho, Brazil, for eight years and for a year in Irian Jaya and a year in Peru. Surviving are a daughter, Anne Haskins of Bemus Point; a son, Gerald Davis of Jamestown; a granddaughter, Chastity Haskins of Bemus Point; and a sister, RM Philip Kline of Insernia, Italy. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John H. Davis in 1981; two sisters: Edna W. Grettenberger and Eleanor M. Murphy; and two brothers: Ivan C. and Calvin W. Kline. She was born Sept. 22, 1903, in Forestville, the daughter of Clark E. and Neva Bowen Bentley. A graduate of the Cherry Creek High School, she received her teaching certificate from the Buffalo Normal School and taught in the former Cherry Creek country school. She then graduated from Jamestown Business School. Along with her husband, she established the Edwin Holmes Plumbing & Heating Co. in Jamestown, where she served as secretary-treasurer for many years, retiring in 1966. She is survived by a son, Warren C. Holmes of Michigan City, who cared for her for the past five years; a daughter, Clarice H. FREWSBURG - Gunnard O. Johnson, 98, of 876 Peterson Road, died at 2:05 a.m. Sunday (Jan. 5, 2003) in his home. He was born Sept. 27, 1904, in Oxabeck, Sweden, the son of Martin and Selma Olson Johnson. Since 1938, he owned and operated a dairy farm. He is survived by two sons: Elmer G. and Raymond E. Johnson, both of Frewsburg; a daughter, Ethelyn M. Johnson of Frewsburg; seven grandchildren:and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian M. Johnson, whom he married Aug. 4, 1934, in Falconer and who died May 29, 1997; a granddaughter, Lorinda Johnson, who died October 1978; and a brother, Arthur Martenson.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: Herbert and Harry Johnson; and two sisters: Hilve Anderson and Esther Wallgren.

7/28/2004 - PORT ORANGE, Fla. - A graveside service for Jessica Lynn Kauffman, 50, of Port Orange, formerly of Frewsburg and Jamestown, who died Friday (June 18, 2004) in Ormond Memorial Hospital in Ormond Beach, Fla., due to complications caused by breast cancer, will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg.
Three weeks prior to her death, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. However, due to unforeseen complications after her release, the road to recovery was ultimately rerouted back to the hospital the following week. She left this world before the loving eyes and in the loving embrace of her husband, her two sons, her two brothers and her niece, Amy. She will be greatly missed by all and will forever be remembered for her accomplishments in life.
She is survived by her husband of 28 years, G. Robert ''Bob'' Kauffman of Port Orange;
two sons: Bobby and Christian Kauffman, both of Port Orange; two brothers: Mark Sanborn of Port St. John, Fla., and Dwight Sanborn of Harpswell, Maine; and a sister, Mary Shelton of Delbarton, W.Va.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John B. Sanborn.

Robert Kennedy, 83, of Heritage Park, formerly of 55 Frew Run Road, Frewsburg, died at 6:40 a.m. Tuesday (May 24, 2005) in WCA Hospital. He was born Feb. 18, 1922, in Falconer, the son of Duane and Mary Morris Kennedy. He was veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp.He is survived by one daughter, Sheryle Button of Panama; a son, Robert ''Pete'' Kennedy of Russell; three grandchildren: Michael Ford of Panama, Timothy Kennedy of Kennedy, and John Kennedy of Cleveland; three great-grandchildren; and four sisters: Genevieve Cox of Oregon, Beatrice Parsons of West Ellicott, Delores Marsh of Arizona, and Margaret ''Marge'' Young of Falconer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Long Kennedy, who died June 4, 2004; and two brothers: Richard and Daniel Kennedy. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg.

Mrs. Mary Florence KIMBALL, 69, of 51 Falconer St., Frewsburg, wife of Pearl Lawrence KIMBALL, died unexpectedly early Sunday morning (Oct. 21, 1962)at her home.
She was born June 30, 1893, in Lakewood,the daughter of Richard and Katherine REXFORD MERCHANT, and spent her early life in Lakewood and Panama. A longtime resident of the Jamestown area, she moved to Frewsburg about 12 years ago. was a member of the Jamestown Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution
Mr. and Mrs. Kimball were married Jan. 1, 1913, in Jamestown.
Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Richard A. KIMBALL, Frewsburg, and Robert L. KIMBALL, Rochester; five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Harriet S. OLOFSON, Jamestown, and Mrs. Caroline COLEMAN, Kenmore; two brothers, Charles C. MERCHANT, Fluvanna, and Rue D. MERCHANT, Torrance, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.

FREWSBURG--Esther B. Kine, 59, of 7 Academy Street, Frewsburg, died at 6:43 a.m. Tuesday in Jamestown General Hospital.
She was the chairman of the Council on the Handicapped in Chautauqua County, the treasurer of the Democratic Committee in the town of Carroll, and had worked for the American Heart Association.
She was born April 12, 1925, in Akeley, Pa., the daughter of Thomas and Ada DeLong Boyle. Mrs. Kline had attended Frewsburg United Methodist Church. Surviving are two sons: Cay T. Kline of Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa and Calvin Kline, Jr.: six grandchildren; her mother of Frewsburg; and two brothers, William E. Boyle, Sr. of Frewsburg and Thomas Warren Boyle of Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her father; a daughter, Candice Ray Kline and a granddaughter, Katherine Ada Kline

John Kocur, 76, of Oak Hill Road, died Monday (June 9, 2003) in WCA Hospital.
He was born Dec. 26, 1926, in Frewsburg, the son of Theodore and Mary Skourase Kocur.
For many years, he owned and operated a dairy farm in Frewsburg with his wife. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1945 to 1947.
Surviving are his wife, Eunice White Kocur; two sons: Walter and John Kocur, both of Frewsburg; two brothers: Theodore Kocur of Frewsburg and Steve Kocur of Lander; and two sisters: Ann Dombeck of Lakeland, Fla., and Mary Richwalsky of Warren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Katherine Cyzneiwski and Stella Kocur; and one brother, Michael Kocur.

PJ: 5/24/1998: Greenhurst: Ruth L. Kyle, 100 of Heritage Green Health Care Center, Greenhurst, formerly of 12 Falconer St., Frewsburg, died Saturday, May 23, 1998 in the Health Care Center.
She was born May 7, 1898, in the town of Carroll, the daughter of Addison and Lilly Ely Little.
She was a graduate of the Frewsburg Union School in 1916, and a graduate of Jamestown Business College in 1917. During the first World War she was a secretary in the War Department at Washington. Later she was employed as a private secretary for Mr. Watson at Watson Manufacturing Co. before retiring in 1922 She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Kyle Pabody of Frewsburg; one grandson, Terence Haskins Kyle of Wexford, Pa., and two great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Kyle, who she married June 14, 1922, in Frewsburg and who died in January 1978. She is also preceded in death by one son, Terrence in 1932; four sisters: Brendice Long, Sara Stegner, Audre Higbee and Frances Stegner and three brothers: Edwin, Ralph and Clark Little.
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Frewsburg.

James C. Lamb, 66, of 1596 Warren Jamestown Blvd., died at 7:39 a.m. Friday (Nov. 29, 2002) in his home. A Jamestown-area resident since 1946, he was born Jan. 6, 1936, in Phillipsburg, Pa., a son of William and Esther Rosentrater Lamb. He was a 1953 graduate of Jamestown High School and served in the National Guard from 1953 until 1955 and in the U.S. Army from 1955 until his discharge in 1957.Surviving are his wife, Susan L. White Lamb, whom he married Aug. 9, 1958; four daughters: Patricia G. Ludwiczak, Kristine S. Moore and Marcia E. Lamb, all of Jamestown, and Julie of Abramson of Celoron; seven grandchildren: Megan E. and Brooke K. Ludwiczak and Corin E. Derby, all of Jamestown, Donald J. LINDQUIST
R. Hubert Lindquist, 81, of E. Main St., formerly of Route 394, died at 11:47 a.m. Monday (Dec. 8, 2003) in his home.
A lifelong area resident, he was born June 8, 1922, in the town of Poland, the son of Alfred T. and Esther Eckholm Lindquist. He was a 1940 graduate of Falconer High School, where he had played football, basketball and baseball. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force in the Panama Canal Zone, and the Galapagos Islands in the Signal Corp from Oct. 21, 1942, to Feb 9, 1946, obtaining the rank of Cpl. T-5.
He was an accomplished mason who constructed much of the brickwork in many of the area's prominent buildings. He was a member of the Bricklayers & Trowel Trades International since 1948. Before retiring in 1984, he had been employed by L.H. Ludwig Construction, Gray & Ellis and Barnes Construction. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Arnold Lindquist, whom he married June 19, 1948, in the Levant Wesleyan Church; a daughter, Cheryl A. Madison of Chesapeake, Va.; two sons: Raymond A. and Robert E. Lindquist, both of Falconer; six grandchildren: two sisters: Elizabeth M. Nunn of Falconer and Edith M. Camp of Mayville; and a brother, Ellsworth Lindquist of Granbury, Texas.
He was preceded in death by five brothers: J. Albert, J. Harold, C. Kenneth, E. Morley and Lawrence Lindquist; and a sister, Beatrice Nordlund.

She was born June 21, 1924, in Frewsburg, the daughter of Donald and Martha Robbins Turney. She was especially thankful for the care given to her by her granddaughter, Martha. She is survived by a son, Ralph Long Jr. of Syracuse; a daughter, Heather ''Tess'' Constable of Frewsburg; seven grandchildren: and 10 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Long in 1985, and a brother, Dan Turney in 1953. She was born Oct. 11, 1910, in Frewsburg, the daughter of Oscar and Anna Bjork Anderson. She is survived by two sons: R. John Mahoney Jr. of Pinedale, Wyo., and R. Thomas Mahoney of Frewsburg; two daughters: Paula C. Johnson and Ann Margaret Rublee, both of Frewsburg; six grandchildren: six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alice Dickinson of Gasport, N.Y. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger J. Mahoney Sr., whom she married April 6, 1942, and who died June 23, 1993. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg, NY.

Jerald V. Marsh, 72, of 1623 Buffalo St. Ext., Jamestown, died at 8:10 a.m. Wednesday(Oct. 14, 1992) in WCA Hospital. A lifelong area resident, he was born July 10, 1920, in Jamestown, a son of Frank and Ella White Marsh.
Marsh attended Falconer High School and was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, having been stationed in Hawaii. He is survived by his wife, Frances Sutton Marsh, whom he married June 12, 1943, in Boise, Idaho; a daughter, Susan Pavlock of Cassadaga, six grandchildren, Philip and Taber of Jamestown, Jessica Taber and William, Samantha and Daniel Pavlock of Cassadaga, one great-granddaughter; and three sisters, Gladys Woodward of Frewsburg, Lena Westerdahl of Falconer and Enid Anderson of Lake Placid, FL. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Merle and Floyd Marsh and a sister, Inez Foster. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Frewsburg, NY.

Ralph "Mac" McCullough, 65, of 9 Mattison Street, Frewsburg, died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday(Dec. 2, 1990) in WCA Hospital. He was the husband of Lois Hanson McCullough. He was born April 8, 1925, in Union City, PA, a son of Perry McCullough and the late Belle Bishop McCullough. McCullough was a 1943 graduate of Mayville High School. veteran of WWII, he served with the US Army in the European Theater. He attended Frewsburg United Methodist Church and was a life member of Samuel Derby American Legion Post 556 in Frewsburg and served the post in many capacities. He was a past commander of the Chautauqua County American Legion and was a member of the Mayville VFW.
Besides his wife and father, surviving are a son, David McCullough of Gerry and a daughter, Susan M. Chase of Warren, PA; four grandchildren; Michael Post of Warren, Andrew, Diana, and Jennifer McCullough of Gerry, and a sister, Gertrude McCullough of Lancaster, NY.
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg, NY.

Lois Hanson McCullough, 79, formerly of 9 Madison St., Frewsburg, died at 1:50 a.m. Monday (Oct. 10, 2005) in the Courtland Terrace Nursing Home in GASTONIA, N.C.
She was born July 23, 1926, in Jamestown, the daughter of Hilmer C. and Mary Jensen Hanson. Prior to retirement in 1988, she had been employed as a secretary by Frewsburg High School. She was a lifelong member of the Samuel Derby Post 556 American Legion Auxiliary and attended the former Frewsburg United Methodist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Susan Chase of Laurinburg, N.C.; a son, David McCullough of Belmont, N.C.; four grandchildren: a great-grandchild; and a sister, Phyllis Wood of Lakewood. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph A. McCollough, who died Dec. 2, 1990.

He was born Feb. 7, 1926, in Rochester, the son of Gerald E. and Anna Walrod Morgan.
A Florida resident for 16 years, he served in the U.S. Navy for 23 years and later was employed by First National Bank in Jamestown as a loan officer until retiring in 1981.

Kathryn V. Morse, 77, of Lutheran Retirement Home, formerly of 108 Falconer St., died at 9:55 p.m. Friday (Dec. 28, 2001) in WCA Hospital. She was born Sept. 14, 1924, in Anita, Pa., a daughter of Herbert and Geraldine Woodhall Forsberg.
Surviving are three brothers: W. Theodore Forsberg of Bowling Green, Ohio, Richard M. Forsberg of Littleton, Colo., and Herbert O. Forsberg II of Ridgewood, N.J. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley E. Morse, whom she married Dec. 9, 1950, and who died Feb. 27, 1969; a sister, Dolores Jackson; and her stepmother, Myra Linamen Forsberg.

She was born April 21, 1915, in Frewsburg, the daughter of Robert and Gertrude Kennison Reed, and raised by the Rev. Walter and Bessie Kennison Black. She is survived by two daughters: Carol Lee Peterson of Frewsburg and Rebecca Ann Aikens of Oil City; a granddaughter, Trobyann Russ of Emlenton, Pa.; and a great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard W. Motter, whom she married June 6, 1936, in Frewsburg; and several brothers and sisters. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg.

Alfred W. Mullhaupt, 85, of Lakewood, N.Y., died at 7:10 p.m. Sun day, December 11, 2005, in Heritage Park Health Care Center. He was born May 6, 1920, in St. Mary's, Pa., a son of John and Helen Grace Mullhaupt.Surviving are his wife, Carol Lewis Pettit Mullhaupt, whom he married March 7, 1970; a son, James Mullhaupt of San Marcos, Calif.; a step son, Terry Pettit of Winter Springs, Fla.; two grand daughters, Amy Saporito of Warren and Kym Kanaan of Russell; six stepgrandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was born in Onoville, Jan. 1, 1871, the daughter of Benjamin and Prusia Hall Brown. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jamestown.
Surviving are three brothers, Leslie Brown, Bemus Point, Clair H. Brown, Lakewood, and Dr. C. E. Brown, Jamestown. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg.

MYERS
Frewsburg, March 23,--The funeral of William Myers was held from the home Tuesday afternoon. There was a large attendance of relatives and friends. The services were conducted by Mrs. Clara Watson of Jamestown. Three musical selections were sung by Miss Bertha Frew and P. E. Miller. In addition to the beautiful flowers sent by friends there were special pieces from Union grange and the employees of the office of division engineer of the B. & O. railroad, Cumberland, Md. The bearers were grandnephews of the deceased: Raymond and Frederick Myers, Ralph Sternburg, Manley H. Cornwell, John Shott and John Gould. The burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.
William Myers was the seventh and youngest son of John and Catherine Myers who settled near the Conewango in the town of Carroll in 1821, where the western part of Frewsburg now is. William was born in May 1828, at the Myers homestead and resided on the same farm until his death which came suddenly early Saturday morning with only a few moments warning. With the exception of a sister in the far west he was the last of the original family. He is survived by his wife, Susan Boyd Myers; a daughter, Mrs. Katherine M. Cox of Frewsburg; a son, Jay B. Meyers, of Cumberland, Md., and two grandchildren, John Robert and Mary Elizabeth Myers.

C. Vincent Nelson, 82, of the Rouse Home, formerly of Kiantone, died Thursday (March 20, 2003) in his home.
He was born April 9, 1920, in Jamestown, the son of Carl H. and Clara Brooks Nelson.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Schieman Nelson, whom he married Nov. 26, 1942 in Rochester; a daughter, Barbara ''Bobette'' Dorf of Marion, N.Y.; two sons: W. Brook Nelson of Delevan and Todd M. Nelson of Kiantone; six grandchildren:

He was born March 14, 1902, in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Charles W. and Anna Lundquist Peterson. Before retiring Oct. 15, 1983, he owned and operated the former Acme Patterns and Models in Jamestown, which he founded in 1941. He was a past president of the Frewsburg Central School board, a former member of the election board and a former member of the Frewsburg Lions Club. He is survived by a daughter, Jane K. Schultz of Deshler, formerly of Frewsburg; three grandsons: Mark R. Schultz of Natic, Mass., Stephen J. Schultz of Brecksville, Ohio, and Dr. David M. Schultz of Lepsic, Ohio; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel Weiss Peterson, who died in 1978; five brothers: Rudolf N. Peterson, who died in 1997, Reuben Peterson, who died in 1929, Dolphin Peterson, who died in 1920, Rudolf N. Peterson, who died in 1905, Gustav Peterson, who died 1905; and a sister, Ruth Peterson, who died in 1905.

He was born Nov. 8, 1954, in Warren, a son of Florence Miller Pring, Warren, and the late Walter E. Pring.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Deborah Maze Pring, whom he married Aug. 25, 1973, in Youngsville; two daughters: Julie and Amy Pring, both of Jamestown, N.Y.; two sisters, Linda Tuttle and Patty Humbert, both of Warren; two granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

He was born in Jamestown on February 12, 1926, the son of Harold G. “Shorty” and Catherine Shilling Ryberg.He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, serving in the 10th Armored Division. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a life member of the Frewsburg Fire Company, where he was fire chief in 1962. He also was a member of the Frewsburg Fireman’s Exempt, where he had served as trustee and secretary. He was also a member of Samuel Derbt Post 556 American Legion, Frewsburg, the VFW Post 557, Bemus Point, the War Vets Recreation Club, and the Trinity United Methodist Church, Frewsburg. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Clark Ryberg, whom he married in 1952 in Little Valley, a daughter, Deborah Kennelley of Bemus Point, three grandchildren: Devin W. Claybourne B. "Clay" Sager, 69, of West Oak Hill Road, formerly of Frewsburg, died Monday (June 28, 2004) in his home. He was born Aug. 2, 1934, the son of the late Alfred and Dueressa Cox Sager.
He was a 1952 graduate of Frewsburg Central School and had been employed by Pepsi Cola Bottling Company of Jamestown for 37 years, retiring in 1993.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Sweglers Sager, who died April 10, 1966.

A lifelong area resident, she was born March 1, 1916, in Frewsburg, the daughter of William H. and Minnie Anderson Sears. Surviving are a brother, Howard Sears of Hornell, N.Y.; and five nieces: Helen Fiorella and Luella Strickland, both of Jamestown, Carol Munson of Orlando, Fla., and Kiantone, Joyce Johnson and Joan Fitch, both of Russell, all instrumental in her care.

The Rev. Everett E. "Butch" Seastrum III, 58, of 51 Ivory St. died at 2:58 p.m. Monday March 11, 2002 in his home.
He was born May 5, 1943, in Jamestown, the son of Everett E. Seastrum II and the late Katherine Carlson Seastrum. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving from 1961 to 1965. He earned an associate's degree in engineering from Canton, his bachelor's degree from Empire State College, and his master of divinity from Colgate Rochester Divinity School. He was assistant pastor of Epworth Christ United Methodist Church in Jamestown and pastor of the San Juan United Methodist Church in Erie. He was employed by the State College at Fredonia in the Center For Rural Regional Development and Governance and was consultant for Chautauqua County. He was currently the outreach minister for the Hispanic Outreach Ministry of the Cornerstone District, was president of the board of director for the Home Ownership Club and chairman of the planning and zoning board for the town of Carroll.Besides his father of Lady Lake, Fla., he is survived by his wife, Leona Healy Seastrum, whom he married Oct. 8, 1983, in Frewsburg; a stepson, Joseph Zahn of Clarence, N.Y.; and a brother, Carl F. Seastrum of Washington.

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. - Stanley A. Smith, 80, of 780 W. Twin Springs, died Sunday (May 8, 2005) in his home.
He was the husband of Wilma Mae Cooper Smith, whom he married in 1965 in Gowanda. He was born March 3, 1925, in Sabinsville, Pa., the son of Henry and Mildred Smith. He was a graduated of John Brown University where he earned his Bible degree and pastored in many churches in New York, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma and Arkansas. He received his masters degree from University of Arkansas and was employed by Siloam Springs High School as a teacher prior to retirement. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons: Terry A. Smith of Louisville, Ky., Dale E. Smith of Ramona, Calif., and Kevin Jon Smith of Chicago; a stepson, Ron Roman of Santa Clara, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Muriel Szarowicz of Frewsburg; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Clara Young of Wellsboro, Pa. He was preceded in death by a son, Stanley A. Smith Jr. who died Nov. 18, 2002.

Frewsburg.....Guy Arthur Sparks, of 12 Park Street, a partner in the Sparks Grocery Store for the past 20 years, died at his home at 5:45 PM Tuesday.
He was born on Feb. 17, 1883, in Larned, Kansas, the son of Robert I. and Margaret Bain Sparks. Mr. Sparks came to Frewsburg at the age of 11 and had resided here since. Mr. Sparks married Miss F. LeVerda Hill on Dec. 23, 1911.
On Oct. 4, 1951, Mr. Sparks and a companion, Charles E. Malmquist of 30 Terrace Place, Jamestown, were the object of a search by rescue boats and planes from Westfield and North East after being missing on Lake Erie for nine hours. The men were sighted rowing their 15-foot fishing boat, apparently after the motor quit, and were taken aboard the "K-6" captained by Ken Alford, Westfield, about seven miles off-shore. Surviving are his wife; one sister, Mrs. Myrtie Sparks Ford of Barberton, O.; a brother, Alonzo Martin Sparks of Meriden, Conn.; four nieces; one nephew and several cousins.

He was born June 13, 1931, in Lander, Pa., the son of the late Gerald ''Herbert'' and Blanche Oliphant Stanton.
He was a 1950 graduate of Warren High School. He was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the USS Loeser as a boilerman. He is survived by his wife, the former Marie Cole, whom he married Jan. 14, 1954; two daughters, Ann Stanton Daniels of Bemus Point and Sandra Stanton Carey of Montross, Va.; two sons, Terrance R. John Sternberg died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Anna Eaton, in Kiantone at 10 o'clock last night, aged 101 years, 6 months, 13 days. He is survived by two other daughters, Mrs. Charlotte Nelson and Mrs. Johanna Seekins, both of Jamestown, New York; one son, Gust Stenberg of Staten Island, twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Mr. Sternberg was born in Sweden in 1832 and came to this country about 28 years ago, to make his home with his daughter. The funeral will be held Friday at 2 o'clock, privately, at the home of Mrs. Eaton and burial will be in Frewsburg. Mr. Sternberg celebrated his 100th birthday in December, 1932, and at that time was able to be up and about. (his picture is attached to this obituary /( on the Message board). He will be buried in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg New York and will share a family plot with Anson Eaton, his son in law, Anna his daughter and their children.

Brian Scott Suckow, 13, of 1206 Wigren Road, Frewsburg, N.Y., died at 6:38 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, in WCA Hospital, Jamestown, N.Y., due to complications caused by cancer.
He was born Aug. 29, 1991, in Erie to James and Barbara Swift Suckow. He was a student in the Frewsburg School System in the class of 2009. He played Little League baseball and enjoyed watching sports, buying and selling sports cards and playing Texas Hold Em.
In addition to his parents of Frewsburg, he is survived by a brother, Kyle Suckow, at home; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Dorothy Swift, Harbor Creek; and his paternal grandparents, Coland and Evelyn Suckow, Frewsburg.

PJ: 1/21/2001 - Thomas C. Town, 76, of 108 Greenhurst Village Drive, formerly of 33 Stewart Ave., died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, in Hamot Medical Center, Erie.
An area resident all his life, he was born April 28, 1924 in Fentonville.
He attended Randolph schools and served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a member of the Lakewood Memorial Post 1286 American Legion and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.He is survived by his wife, Donna Frankson Town, whom he married Feb. 17, 1962; three daughters: Lynn Marshall of North Carolina, Laurie Marrs of Kennedy and Brenda Lee Meyerhoff of Fredonia; four sons: Dennis A. Town of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Todd A. Town of Frewsburg and Timothy and Kevin A. Town, both of Jamestown; 14 grandchildren: and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert and Florence Hammond, who raised him as a child; a brother, Fred Blake; and a daughter, Michelle Marie Town, who died Nov. 2, 1965. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery
TREADWAY
D. William Treadway, 69, of the Mayville Senior Apartments, formerly of Dewittville, died at 10:05 a.m. Thursday (Jan. 23, 2003) in his home.
He was born Sept. 30, 1933, in Jamestown, the son of Eugene and Pauline McElwain Treadway.
He had owned and operated the D. William Treadway Motors in Dewittville. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict serving in the U.S. Army. He is survived by two sons: Thomas Treadway of Mayville and David Treadway of Dewittville; two grandchildren: Tayler Treadway of Mayville and Benjamin Treadway of Dewittville.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Coons Treadway; and a brother, Jackson Treadway. Burial in Maple Grove Frewsburg
VANDEWARK
Elmer E. ''The Chancellor'' VanDewark, 90, of 1113 Southwestern Drive, died at 5:10 a.m. Sunday (May 11, 2003) in the Heritage Park Health Care Center.
A life long area resident, he was born Nov. 23, 1912, in Frewsburg, the son of Alvin and Sabra Waite VanDewark.
He was a 1931 graduate of Frewsburg High School and attended Fenn College in Cleveland. He was a self-employed dairy farmer for more than 50 years, retiring in 1995.He is survived by three sons: Sherwood D. VanDewark of Lakewood, Brian E. VanDewark of Hilton and Warren J. VanDewark of Busti; eight grandchildren:two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley Steiger of Kenmore.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Allene Larson VanDewark, whom he married March 22, 1941, and who died Oct. 27, 1998; a son, Neil VanDewark, Nov. 22, 1994; and a sister, Marguerite VanDewark, on Jan. 16, 1998.
WAITE SWANSON
PJ: 11/13/2006 - Nellie R. Waite, 90, of 4653 Anderson Road, Bemus Point, died Thursday, November 9, 2006 in the Hamot Medical Center in Erie.
She was the widow of Virgil C. Waite, whom she married January 17, 1942 and who died September 9, 1985.
A lifelong area resident, she was born May 22, 1916 in the family home on Belleview Road in Bemus Point, a daughter of the late Leonard and Ruth Anderson Swanson, and graduated in 1936 from the former Bemus Point High School. Surviving is a sister, Audrey Clauson of Bemus Point, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter; a sister, Dorothy M. Harvey who died Dec. 14, 2002; and two brothers, Melvin Swanson, who died April 13, 1991 and William Swanson, who died November 2, 1998.
WALKER
Robert E. Walker, 83, of the Frewsburg Rest Home, formerly of 125 Water St., died at 1:25 a.m. Sunday (March 20, 2005) in WCA Hospital.
He was born July 26, 1921, in Kennedy, the son of Ira H. and Jenny Edblom Walker.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, stationed in Pearl Harbor; and a member of the Celoron American Legion. He is survived by two daughters, Sanda Harvey and Janice Thompson of Frewsburg; and one son, Gary Walker of Watts Flats; seven grandchildren: 19 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Mona Nelson of Frewsburg; and a brother, Rodney Walker of Phoenix, Ariz.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Lucille V. Walker, whom he married July 19, 1941, in Frewsburg and who died Aug. 31, 1998; a daughter, Judith Walker Lutgen, who died in 1969; a grandson, Robery Harvey; a brother, Ira Walker Jr.; and four sisters: Katherine Mansfield, Evelyn Cooper, Madeline Garfield and Allene Nelson.
WHEELER
PJ: Feb., 1965: James P. Wheeler, 96, of 6 Ivy St., Jamestown's oldest Spanish-American War veteran, died at 11:20 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 11, 1965) in WCA Hospital. Mr. Wheeler enlisted in the war in 1898 in Buffalo, was wounded and disabled in Cuba, and was discharged April 15, 1899 in Savannah, Ga.
He was born Feb. 29, 1868, in Frewsburg, the son of Francis and Marian Wheeler. He was employed as a lumber inspector for many years at the Jamestown Lounge Co., and later as a machine operator at the Crawford Furniture Mfg. Corp., retiring 25 years ago.
He was a member and past commander of Samuel M. Porter Camp, Spanish-American War Veterans; a member of V.F.W. Post 51; and an honorary member of Mr. Tabor Lodge, I.O.O.F.
Surviving are two sons, Raymond F. Wheeler, Jamestown; and Elmer J. Wheeler, Bluefield, W. Va.; one daughter, Mrs. Blanche Nelson, Frewsburg; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Marian M. Foster, St. Petersburg, Fla.
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg.
WHITE
PJ: July, 1964: Gurn E. White, 67, of 97 Falconer St., Frewsburg, former proprietor of White's Restaurant, Frewsburg, died at 10:35 p.m. Sunday (July 12, 1964) in WCA Hospital after a short illness. He was a retired carpenter.
He was born Nov. 30, 1896, in the Town of Carroll, the son of Benjamin and Lepha Burch White and lived most of his life in the area.
He was married Dec. 23, 1915 to Gertrude Akin in Jamestown.
Besides his wife, survivors are a son Kermit White of Frewsburg; a granddaughter, Rae Allison of Frewsburg; a brother, Ward G. White of Frewsburg; three sisters, Mrs. Eunice Ahlstrom and Mrs. Bessie Carlson of Jamestown; and Mrs. Eleanor Harrington of Bemus Point; and several nieces and nephews.
WILCOX
The Rev. R. Leslie Wilcox, 81, a resident of Heritage Park, formerly of 68 Ivory St., Frewsburg, died at 3:47 a.m. Friday (Jan. 3, 2003) in his residence.
He was born March 5, 1921, in Alden, the son of Robert C. and Amelia Hammond Wilcox.
A 1938 graduate of Warsaw High School, he earned a bachelor's degree from Houghton College in 1942 and also studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Pennsylvania. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army as a medic in the Aleutian Islands and Calcutta, India. For 35 years, he was employed by the former Blackstone Corp. as an analytic chemist and earlier by United Refinery Co. in Warren from 1945 to 1951. In 1972, he was ordained and served as pastor of the Charlotte Center, Centralia and Pleasant Valley United Methodist Churches. A member of the Kidder Memorial Church, where he served as visitation pastor for 10 years, he was also a member of the Gideons for more than 50 years, where he was past president and chaplain. He was a former member of the Frewsburg United Methodist Church. He enjoyed reading and, in 1998, graduated from the Chautauqua Literary Scientific Circle. A member of the New England Historical Society, he enjoyed doing genealogical research. He also built the only ice rink available for children in Frewsburg, and after 15 years of working with this project, received the Good Neighbor Award. He also meet with the Chautauqua Sons of American Revolution.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Stanley Wilcox, whom he married July 25, 1944; a son, the Rev. Dr. Paul S. Wilcox of Harrisburg, Pa.; a daughter, Linda M. Wilcox of Kennedy; three grandchildren: the Rev. Daniel P. Wilcox of Windsor, Pa., Amy Perez and Rebekah Wilcox, both of Philadelphia; and two great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg.
WILLIAMS
Harold E. Williams, 88, of Heritage Green, formerly of Frewsburg, died at 10 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 1, 2005) in the facility. He was born April 8, 1916, in Ellington, the son of Howard E. and M. Cornelia Whitney Williams. He was a graduate of Jamestown High School and the Syracuse School of Forestry. A veteran of the U.S. Army He is survived by a daughter, Sharon Williams of Colonie, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth G. Williams, who died June 4, 1993; two sisters: Allene Williams and Alice Lindholme; and a brother, Francis H. Williams.
WILLIAMS SPENCER
PJ: 11/19/2000: Greenhurst: Hazel M. Williams, 83, of Heritage Green Health Care Center, formerly of 10 Frew Run Road, Frewsburg, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, in the health care center. She was born Dec. 9, 1916, in Ashville Bay, the daughter of Milo and Henrietta Smith Spencer. She is survived by five grandchildren: Thomas Seastrum of Warren, Russell Seastrum J. of Ellery Center and William Seastrum Sr. of Jamestown; two granddaughters: Jo Nickerson of Jamestown and Irene Crosby of Frewsburg; 18 great-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Beatrice Rishell of Frewsburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Williams; a daughter, Betty Seastrum; and two brothers, Harry Spencer and Charles Jackson. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg.
WOLFE
Mark R. Wolfe, 47, of 318 S. Main St., died at 7:38 a.m. Tuesday (Aug. 2, 2005) in his home, the result of a heart attack.
He was born May 2, 1958, in Warren, the son of Ray M. Wolfe and the late Carol A. Haines Wolfe.
Besides his father of Conewango, he is survived by his stepmother, Kitty Wolfe of Conewango; his wife, Barbara Miller Wolfe, whom he married June 18, 1988, in Frewsburg; two daughters: Kathleena Cusimano and Stacey Comber, both of Jamestown; a son, Ray Wolfe II of Conewango; two grandchildren: Amanda and Hunter Cusimano, both of Jamestown; a brother, Shannon Wolfe Sr. of Warren; three sisters: Deborah L. Bailey of Clarendon, Pa., Sherry L. Wolfe and Barbara J. Williams, both of Jamestown; two stepbrothers: Jim Evans of Conewango, and George Evans of Florida; and three stepsisters: Doris Evans of South Carolina, Catherine Montgomery of Ohio, and Janice Evans of Conewango.Besides his mother, who died in 2004, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tiffany Wolfe, who died in 1982; and a brother, Danny Wolfe, who died in 1955.
