COMSTOCK
PJ Obit 10/1/2004
Marvin J. Comstock, 84, of the Chautauqua County Home, formerly of Forestville, died Thursday (Sept. 30, 2004) in his home. He was born Oct. 20, 1919, in the town of Carroll, the son of Erie J. and Clara M. Cox Comstock. He attended Rural School 10 on North East Road in the town of Conewango. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He retired from the town of Conewango Highway Department, and had operated a dairy farm.
He is survived by two sisters: Lucy Niles of Palmetto, Fla., and Mary Whitmore of Randolph. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Ivan Comstock and his twin, Martin Comstock; and two sisters: Pearl Bush and Florence Huntington. Burial with full military honors conducted by Post 181 will be in Ivory Cemetery in the town of Carroll.

 
FEDORSIC HOOVER
PJ Obit 12/20/2002
Virginia D. Fedorsic, 78, of 29 Sampson St., died at 4:15 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 19, 2002) in WCA Hospital. A lifelong area resident, she was born May 26, 1924, in Jamestown, a daughter of Harry and Edith Hoover. Before her retirement in 1982, she was a 30-year employee of Weber-Knapp Co. Surviving are a son, Daniel Vincent of Jamestown; a daughter, Bonnie Buvoltz of Randolph; two grandchildren: James Saxton of Ohio and Sheila Graham of Ashville; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lorraine Anderson of Bemus Point. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Fedorsic, who died in 1998; a daughter, Darlene Hess; and a sister, Carol Samples. Burial will be in the Ivory Cemetery, Town of Carroll.

 
HALLADAY
PJ: Jan., 1969 - Henry Halladay, 89, a resident of the Allen Nursing Home, died Thursday morning, Jan. 9, 1969, at the nursing home. He was a retired farmer.
He was born in the Town of Poland, April 18, 1879, the son of Henry and Louisa Walrod Halladay. He and his wife, the former Emma Washburg, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Oct. 12, 1968. Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Gust Norberg, Springfield, Va.; and one granddaughter, Mrs. Donald Long, Ashville.
Burial will be in Ivory Cemetery.
 
HIMES HOCH
PJ: Thurs. 7/21/2005: Falconer: Patricia M. Himes, 44, of 220 Richard Ave., died at 7:05
p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2005, in the WCA Hospital.
She was the wife of Roger A. Himes, whom she married Oct. 19, 1966 in Busti.
A lifelong area resident, she was born July 23, 1960, in Jamestown, the daughter of
Marlene Darling Hoch and the late Norman Hoch Sr. Besides her husband, she is survived by her mother of Jamestown; a son, Jerry “Jay-Jay”
Reeves III of Kennedy; a daughter, Catherine Reeves of Dunkirk; a stepson, Timothy
Allan Himes of Frewsburg; two stepdaughters: Angela Marie Seeling of Modesto, Calif.,
and Alicia Christine Wilson of Jamestown; two grandchildren: Brett Michael Reeves of
Kennedy, and Andrew Pacitti of Jamestown; three sisters: Jackie Thompson of Flomaton,
Ala., Shirley Himes of Jamestown, and Susan Hanley of Stockton; and four brothers:
Robert and Charles Hock of Jamestown, Norman Hoch of Ellington, and William Hoch of Ashville. Besides her father, who died in 1997, she was preceded in death by an infant son and a grandson, Alexander Christopher Pacitti. Burial will be in the Ivory Cemetery.
 
 
PRITTIE
PJ: 8/14/1965: Stockton - Fenton J. Prittie Jr., 35, of Maple Springs, was killed yesterday when the vehicle he was teaching a 16-year-old boy to drive struck the spillway of a pond throwing him into the windshield, severing a jugular vein, according to the Sherriff''s Department. Coroner Ralph Wallace has issued a certificate of accidental death.
Officers said the accident occurred shortly before noon at a pond on state owned property west of Coe Road, Town of Stockton. The Sheriff's office said the vehicle, operated by David Stimpson of Kenmore, was traveling across a dam toward the pond when it went out of control into the pond and struck the spillway.
Another passenger in the vehicle was Joseph H. Pearson, 14, of East Aurora, whose parents owned the vehicle, police said. The Sheriff's office said the death, though termed a traffic accident, will not be classified as a highway fatality,
Mr. Prittie was employed at Midway Park for many years and for the past 10 years had managed the Arcade at the Park.
He was born Sept. 25, 1929, at Frewsburg, the son of J. Fenton and Beatrice Wethy Prittie, and had resided in the Maple Springs area since 1935. He was a graduate of Bemus Point High School.
He was a member and trustee of the Maple Springs Union Church; a member of Dewittville Grange; and served as a counselor for Outdoor Life for young boys.
Besides his parents of Lewis Road, Bemus Point, he is survived by two brothers, Don Prittie, Sioux City, Iowa, and Wayne Prittie, Gerry; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Maple Springs Union Church. The Rev. Cecil Ross will officiate. Burial will be in Ivory Cemetery

RUMPLE COLBERG
PJ: 7/6/1967: Mrs. Effie Colberg Rumple, 83, of 110 Cole Ave., died at 8:40 a.m. today (July 6, 1967) in Jamestown General Hospital. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Rumple had been employed for more than 30 years in the office of the former Jamestown Evening Journal. She was the widow of Harmon F. Rumple.
Mrs. Rumple was born Oct. 23, 1883 in Frewsburg, the daughter of Henry P. and Martha Warn Colberg. She attended the former Fredonia Normal School and was a graduate of Jamestown Business College. Mrs. Rumple had lived in this community for 60 years.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Ina C. Mayfield, Jamestown, with whom she made her home; a brother, Harley C. Colberg, Long Beach, Calif. and several nieces and nephews.
Burial will be in Ivory Cemetery
 
THOMPSON LOVE
PJ: Jan. 1982: Dewittville: M. Catherine Thompson, 68, of R.D. a, Pickard Road, Dewittville, died at 5 p.m. Friday (Jan. 8, 1982) in Jamestown General Hospital. She was the widow of Wilton Thompson, who died Oct. 19, 1977. A lifelong area resident, she was born July 14, 1913, in the town of Carroll, the daughter of George Sr. and Nina Cowan Love. Surviving is a daughter, Rose B. Thompson of Dewittville; two grandchildren: Todd R. and Kimberly R. Thompson both of Dewittville; a brother, Clayton Love Sr. of Bemus Point; three sisters: Georgianna Foster of Kennedy, Julia Covey of R.D. 1 Falconer and Janet Hallberg of Ellery Center.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter in 1943 and two brothers, Clarence, in 1935, and George Love Jr. in 1978.Burial will be in the Ivory Cemetery
