Dau Phebe Ann, b 1821 died 10/11/1906 age 85
Jessie, probable dau of Ruloff

[Notes:  It seems to me that Ruloff, Phebe Ann and Jesse (male) Brokaw are all children of John and Judith VanArsdale. In one census it looks like they might be married because there is a 6 year old boy Cleveland listed with them. Cleveland is the son of their brother Peter who was widowed at the time of the Census 1860. In other census' Phebe and Ruloff are listed as single. - Ryley Winter Meagher, 2007.

In reading the Fentonville cemetery listing, I noted that Ruluf and Phoebe are listed as husband and wife. This is incorrect.  They were brother and sister. Both had lost their hearing due to illness when Ruluf was a baby and Phoebe was about 2. My mother's family lived with the Brokaw family in the "Bootjack" around early 1900's. Mom could remember, "Aunt Phoebe taking care of her and that she spoke only at a 2 year old level. I hope this error can be corrected, as I am one of the few left who are aware of the actual relationship. - Judith R. Faustine, 2010]

[NOTE:  The inscription list at the Fenton History Center has an asterisk in front of the name Lewis Covell. I discussed that with Ernest Wiltsie who had the cemetery records at the time I called. Mr. Wiltsie said that the asterisk meant that he was the person who put lot 35 in perpetual care, and who was billed for it every year. He said that Lewis was not buried there, as evidenced by the fact that there are no dates for his name. Please include a note to this effect at this point on your web page. Perhaps, Lewis Covell paid for perpetual care for this lot, but he is not buried here. - Jim Barton, 2008]

of William Wiltsie and Mary HULL he was born Bethlehem, Dutchess, New York
(* notes for the Wiltsie family from the Wiltsie Cemetery online records
>From Century Farms No. 63 in the Jamestown Journal of 3 May 1952 one reads
that John Hull Wiltsie came from Otsego County about 1830 with six brothers
and sisters. According to family records John Hull Wiltsie was born 12
February 1807 in Cooperstown, NY, son of William and Mary (Hull) Wiltsie.
Though there are no records of the coming of their parents, the stone in the
cemetery is mute evidence that they did.
(*WILTSIE, William, died 15 Oct. 1846, age 65-1-23 father of John and
William)
There is no stone for Mary HULL though she died 22 years after her husband.
We wish the children had erected one. Mary was born 9 May 1789 and died 30
Oct. 1868, aged 82.
John Hull Wiltsie and wife Eliza Ann Forbush are buried in the Fentonville
Cemetery. After his death his grandson John Clarke Wiltsie bought up all the
land owned by the brothers and sisters. John Clark Wiltsie married Flora
Bradley and had four sons: William Luther, Harris B., John Clark Jr. and
Carver. Also, three daughters: Mrs. Grace Jacobson, Mrs. Esther Burkland,
and Mrs. Elizabeth Cowan
