TOWN OF ALEXANDRIA

ICING ON THE ST. LAWRENCE RIVER

Here Evard Wagoner stands on D.H. Crawford's truck at his own icehouse. It was unusual to use someone else's truck, and Evard much preferred to pack his own ice himself. He didn't trust others to tamp the sawdust tightly between the cakes, and between the ice and the outside of the icehouse. Notice the muffler under the truck. It looks as if a repair job was in store.
