JACOB GETMAN

JACOB GETMAN, 83, DIES AT REDWOOD

Redwood, Oct. 23, 1924. -- Jacob Getman, one of the vest known and most highly resp.ected residents of this community, died Wednesday afternoon at 2:30, following a brief illness of bronchial pneumonia, aged 83 years.

Mr. Getman contracted a severe cold about ten days or two weeks ago. The cold became worse and his advanced age and declining health prevented him from throwing off the effects. Pneumonia developed which resulted in his death Wednesday.

He was born in Germany Dec. 21, 1841. In 1885 he came to this country with his wife and children and settled in Alexandria Center on a farm. He occupied that farm for some time, after which he removed, with his family, to a farm near Depauville, where they resided three years. He thn moved to Redwood, in 1900, and lived here since. Mrs. Getman died in 1909. He then made his home with his son, Louis Getman, here. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church.

Besides his son, Louis, he is survived by two other sons, Philip of Vernon, and William of Redwood and Mrs. Theodore Favret. Two daughters also survive. They are Mrs. John Handschuh of Redwood, and Mrs. Theodore Favret of Redwood. Another daughter, Sophia Dorr, died in 1919.

The funeral service will be held from the late home Friday afternoon at 1:30 and from the church at 2. Rev. H.V. Kruss, pastor of the Lutheran church, will officiate. Burial will be made in Redwood Cemetery. If you have additional information, comments, or suggestions, please contact:
