obituary, this is my grandfather.
He had a brother Josepeh, 4 sisters- Mrs. Jas. Welsh, Mrs. Paul Hildreth,
Katherine Ambrose, Julia Ambrose, and two daughters from a previous
marriage, Mrs. Pauline Saulding, and Gertrude Ambrose all of Elmira. His
second marriage was to a Effie Shriver(my grandmother) 3 sons, Frank,

young, and they knew nothing of their father,
Seeking info on, and/or descendants of, 2nd great grandparents, William
Amsdell (1797-?) and Abigail Millard (1786-?), and relatives, Theodore
Amsdell & George Amsdell, who resided in Albany, NY until Late

I am trying to find the birthplace of my gt.gt. grandfather, Stephen W.
Andrus. He wrote in his family Bible that he was born in 1828 in Seneca
Co., N.Y., but I have never been able to confirm this. I wonder if he
might have been born elsewhere in N.Y., and lived as a young boy in
Seneca Co. His parents were Samuel Andrus & Eliza Miller; Samuel was
born about 1806 and was later a carpenter & farmer and probably a
Baptist. Other children of Samuel & Eliza born in N.Y. were Cornelia,
George, Emugene, and Francis. Any help gratefully received !

other children. If I could even find a county for this family it would
help. Any help much appreciated.

a Catholic Church near Guilderland in the 1850-1880s? Any other sug-

Mary Magdalane (last name unknown). They had one child that I know of,
Harriet Elizabeth CROSS/CRAUS, who was b. 15 June 1832 in Albany, NY.
Both Edward and Mary were dead prior to 1846. At this time Harriet went

following the deaths of her parents. I know nothing else about Edward or
Mary. Any help identifying parents, siblings, dates of birth and death,

Seeking any info on family of origin for James Robert Cross, born in
Albany, date uncertain but between 1856 - 59. I think 1857 by what I
have found so far. I can't find him in the 1860 census for NY, and have
found no clues or hints to lead me to his birth family. Family legend
says he had a brother, but they were estranged for many years. I can't
find James between date of birth in NY and his marriage to Elizabeth
Mathilda Ewing of Ohio on December 25, 1889 in Spokane Falls, WA. They
had four children, all born in WA state: Jennie Amelia Cross b. 9 Feb
1891; Cora Frances Cross b. 19 Apr 1892; Harry Wilbur Cross, 5 Jul 1894;
and Charles Raymond Cross b. 11 Nov 1898. On 1900 census, he stated that
his parents' birthplaces were unk. In 1920 census, he said his father
was born in NY, his mother born in Canada. He was a carpenter, and he
died April 11, 1939 in San Diego, CA. Can anyone with Cross connections
help me? My mother has been looking for her grandfather for many years.

Searching for various records for my father's family who were residents
of HalfMoon, NY in the mid-1800s. Family name in census records at that
time was spelled "Davey" but variations could include
"Davy" or "Davie". Specifically looking for birth
records of my grandfather (James H. Davey) and his siblings (John L.
Davey, Michael Davey, and Mary Davey) all born between 1850 and 1860, as
well as a death record for my great-grandfather (Timothy or Thaddeus
Davey or Davy) who died in the mid-1870s
All of them included in the 1865 Census in HalfMoon. After that, some of
them may have moved to Greenbush in Rensselaer County (recorded there in
a deed transaction dated 1880) or in Albany area
Also looking for an obituary notice that may have been published in one
of the local area newspapers for James H. Davie who died on December 2,
1921. I have a partial copy of it and it appears to have been written for
the local HalfMoon/Saratoga County area. I'd be interested in learning
which newspapers were in that area at that time and how to request or
access microfilm records.

HELP!!! Am tracing Irish ancestor, Roger DONAHUE. Oral family history
says he came to U.S. shortly after his sister. Managed to track sister,
Margaret Donahue BOLAND, also found obit for husband, Thomas, who was
prominent attorney in Iowa. Also lucked out finding living g
granddaughter of Thomas and Margaret and spoke with her via telephone.
She said Roger followed in same footsteps as the Bolands. With the help
of a very detailed obit for Thomas Boland I am beginning the search with
some clues. First, he worked in a sugar factory in New York (did not say
if city or state) around 1866. Also am looking for history of 69th New
York Infantry from the Civil War, supposedly in Battle of Bull Run.
Thomas Boland was attached to this unit. Anybody that has any ideas on a
starting point can e-mail me. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Peter Fake b. April 19, 1800 d. December 6, 1876, Birthplace unknown but probably Schoharie, NY
Died in Clinton, NY. Married Nov. 24, 1825 to Margaret (Maggie) Prentice b. 1807
8 children, 3 sons, 5 daughters. Looking for birthplace and parent information.
There are ~1800 Schoharie residents by the name of Feck whoappear in later census as Fake, among them Nicholas Fake mentioned in the will of Peter Vroman (under the Fake spelling).
I suspect that they are descendants of the Feeck family of Schoharie Palatines, but have no proof.

Looking for confirmation of the Abraham Fickeisen and Margaret
Mueller Fickeisen (possibly Fickerson) came to New York about
1845. Had daughters Catherine, 1850, Margaret, 1851, Caroline,
1853, Adam, 1855. Eve was born in Wheeling in 1857, so the
window for New York is 1843-1857. We think they were in
New York City, Albany and Syracuse.
We have already confirmed this family in the 1860-1880 Censuses.
Thanks, Jim Andris, great great grandson
We are fairly sure that Abraham Fickeisen and new bride Margaret Meuller
Fickeisen came to Albany some time soon after they arrived in New York
City on or around July 4, 1843. Family legend has it that a farmer offered
them work and a place to stay at Albany. Their first child, Adam, may have
been born there early in the next year. In one to several years, they
moved on to Syracuse, New York, and finally ended, by way of Wheeling, WV,
near Marietta Ohio, in Washington County, where they set up a homestead
and raised 12 children. I would like to know more about this family's activites in Albany.

I am researching Samuel Merrick Fish was a commodities trader from Connecticut, resided in Albany during the mid-1800s, and moved on to NJ. His son, Roswell P., married Virginia Holstein, daughter of Lafayette and Anna Holstein. Lafayette Holstein was the son of Lafayette D. I would like to exchange information on both these lines. Also, I am looking for exact dates/locations of birth and marriage for Roswell and Virginia and for Lafayett and Anna.
