Pittman, Jerry Paul
Services for Jerry Paul Pittman, 39, of Holliday was held Thursday in Aulds
Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Deerinwater, pastor of First Baptist Church,
Archer City, officiating. Burial was in Crestview Memorial Park.
Pittman died Tuesday in a Wichita Falls hospital. He was born Jan 1.
1949 in Olney. He was owner-operator of a motorcycle shop in Holliday and a
member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Ada Pearl Pittman of Archer City; a
sister, Mrs. Darla Anne Segura of Brazoria; nieces, Lee Anne Roye and Stacie
Segura, both of Brazoria.
Pallbearers were Travis Nelson, Vincent Lowack, Jr., Matt Sadberry,
Jerry Berryman, Jr., Rusty Barnes, Charles Wylie, Wade Moyer and Joey Roye.

Petit, George Washington
George Washington "Wash" Petit, 89 died Wednesday at an Archer City
nursing home.
Graveside services were Thursday at Archer City Cemetery with the Rev.
Bobby King, pastor of Faith Memorial Baptist Church, officiating. Services
were under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Petit was born Feb 12, 1899, in Jack County, Texas, and had been a
longtime resident of Archer County, Texas. he was a baptist.
Survivors include three sisters, Lillie Canada of Archer City, and Mary
Clayton and Elligie Brand, both of Wichita Falls; five daughters, Rachel
Henry of Henrietta, Texas, Ruby Hopkins of Alvarado, Texas, Janie Nichols of
Fort Smith, AR., Leana Boyd of Clayton, N.M. and Corine Henley of Hayward,
Calif., three sons, Bonnie of Bowlegs, Okla., Robert of Archer City, and
C.W. of Shamrock, Texas; 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; and 2
great-great-grandchildren.

Graham, Madge A.
Services for Madge A. Graham, 76, of Holliday, were held Monday, August
29, 1988 at First Baptist Church of Holliday with the Rev. Darius McKay,
pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Crestview
Memorial Park under the direction of Owens-Brumley Funeral Home. She died
Friday, August 26, 1988, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
She was born Dec. 28, 1911, in Bluff Dale, Texas. She was a bookkeeper
for Hogle's Grocery and a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one brother, Lige Gunnels of El Monte, Calif; two
grandchildren, Katha McAllister of Holliday and Keven McAllister of Dallas
and one great-grandchild.

Butler, Chester Russell
Chester Russell Butler, 72 died Monday, June 27, 1988, at Archer County
Hospital. Services will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday, June 30 at Aulds
Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby King of Faith Memorial Baptist Church
officiating. Burial will be in Archer City Cemetery.
Butler was born March 24, 1916, in Love County, Oklahoma. He had been a
resident of Archer County since 1979. In 1978, he retired from Phillips
Petroleum after 40 years. He and Anna Mae were married August 15, 1937, in
Jacksboro, Texas. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jim of Douglas, Wy., Rick of
Wichita Falls and Tom of Goodland, Kan.; one daughter, Patsy Horn of Wichita
Falls; one brother, Johnny of Bryson, Texas; three sister, Mary Denning of
Bryson, Estella Rhoades of Medford, Ore., and Bernice Keyser of Bryson; 15
grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Wolf, Henry L.
Henry L. Wolf, 72, of Windthorst, died Wednesday June 22, 1988, in a
Wichita Falls hospital. Rosary was said Thursday, June 23, at St. Mary's
Catholic Church, led by the Rev. Aidlan Donlon, Chaplain of Bethania
Regional Health Center. Services were held Friday, June 24. with the Rev.
Cletus Post of St. Peter's Catholic Church parish in Lindsay, Texas,
officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery under the direction of Aulds
Funeral Home.
Wolf was born Feb 7, 1916, in Henrietta, Texas and moved to Windthorst
with his parents, Mr and Mrs. Anton Wolf, when he was 6 months old. He was
a dairy farmer.
He and Julia Baumhardt were married july 27, 1937 in Scotland, Texas
He was a member of St. mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of
Columbus.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Dale of Windthorst; two sisters,
Amelia Hoff of Wichita Falls and Veronica Vieth of Windthorst; a brother,
S.R. of Windthorst; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jim Wolf, Jerry Schroeder, Charles Vieth, Buddy
Schlabs, Daryl Wolf, Bill Schreiber, Randy Wolf and Butch Schroeder.

Brumbelow, Elbert
Services for Archer County native, Elbert Brumbelow, 62, were held Monday,
June 27, in First Assembly of God Church, Wichita Falls, with pastor, Rev.
T.L. Welborn officiating. Burial was in Crestview Memorial Park under the
direction of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home.
Mr. Brumbelow died Friday, June 24, 1988, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
he was born Feb 9, 1926 in Dundee and was a lifetime resident of this area.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army, and for 23
years he owned Brumbelow Carpets in Wichita Falls. He was a resident of
Lakeside City and a volunteer member of that Fire Department. He also
served as an Archer County reserve deputy sheriff for seven years and in
March was elected as county constable for P. Precinct No. i. He and
Frances McKee were married on August 9, 1947. He was a member of the First
Assembly of God Church. Survivors include his wife, Frances of Lakeside
City; a son, Ronny Brumbelow of Wichita Falls; two daughters, Dolores
Martini and Barbara Funston, both of Wichita Falls; four brothers, Lawrence,
Marion and Frank Brumbelow, all of Wichita Falls and Bernard Bumbelow of
Fort Worth; three sisters, Virgie Knight and Margarite Vaughn, both of
Wichita Falls, and Lillie Gilbreath of Fort Worth; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jim Darr, Roy Stone, Bill Maupin, Jack Lane, Tom
Watson, and Lee Roy Peterson.
Honorary pallbearers included members of the Lakeside City Volunteer Fire
Department.

Kinsey, F.L.
F.L. (Finis) Kinsey, 79 died Wednesday, May 6, 1992, in a Wichita Falls
hospital.
Services were 10 a.m. Saturday at Archer City Church of Christ with Larry
Suttle, minister of Tenth and Broad Church of Christ in Wichita Falls, the Rev.
Bob Kitchell, pastor of First Assembly of God of Archer City and Darol Bell of
Bowie, officiating. Burial was in Archer City Cemetery under the direction of
Aulds Funeral Home.
Mr. Kinsey was born December 17, 1912 in Clay County. He and Lena Kuykendall
were married October 20, 1934 in Bellevue. They moved to Archer City in 1962
where he owned and operated Kinsey Ditching Service until retiring in 1980. He
was a former rancher and oil field worker. He was a member of Archer City
Church of Christ, where he was treasurer for 10 years and served on the building
committee. He had served as elder at Loving Church of Christ for many years.
Pallbearers were Wayne Cox, Dan Haile, Pat Martin III, H.A. Deen, Fred McCown
and Willie Williford.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Billy B. and Carl Virgil,Sr., both of
Archer City; a daughter, Louise Rux of Archer City; 10 grandchildren; and 22
great-grandchildren.

Canada, Ruby
Graveside services for Ruby Canada, 75, were 2 p.m. Friday in the Antelope
Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Kitchell, pastor of the Assembly of God Church in
Archer City, officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Aulds
Funeral Home. She died Tuesday, June 16, 1992, in a Fort Worth hospital.
She was born March 6, 1917 in Jacksboro and had lived in Archer City since 1947.
She and Tot Canada were married November 17, 1946 in Henrietta. He died
November 14, 1987. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church. Survivors
include a daughter, Betty Springer of Sherman; four sons, Calvin Lee Roberts of
Roswell, New Mexico, B.Ray Roberts of Denver City, Elmer Lewis Roberts of Waco
and Ronnie Gene of Yukon, Oklahoma; a sister, Dean Robbins of Fort Worth; a
brother Jerry Beggs of Iowa Park; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Green, H.C. (Charlie)
H.C. "Charlie" Green, 90, died Thursday, July 15, 1993, in an Archer City
nursing home. Services were 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with Roger
Deerinwater, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Archer City Cemetery under the
direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Mr. Green was born January 29, 1903 in Ellis County. He was the son of Frank
Coleman Green and Mary Elizabeth Peeler. He came to Archer County when he was
3 years old and had lived in Archer County since the, except for four years that
he lived in Seymour in the early 1940s. He and Leona Farmer were married
December 22, 1925 in Olney. She died November 30, 1989. He was a member of the
First Baptist Church and a former member of First United Methodist Church of
Archer City where he taught the Senior Men's Sunday school class for many years.
He was an independent oil producer and rancher most of his life. He was a
former member of the 100F. His son, Bobby Ray died in 1931. Survivors include a
daughter, Bettye Jo Eubanks of Wichita Falls; two sons, B.J. of Lubbock, and Max
of Archer City; a brother W.T. of Olney; a sister, Mattie Morris of Olney; eight
grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Rick Eubanks, Mark
Green, Bobby Green, Mitch Green, and W.C. Abernathy, Jr.

Stewart, Grace E.
Grace E. Stewart, 84, former Archer City resident, died Wednesday, September 8,
1993, in Tulsa. Services were 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Archer
City. Burial was in Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral
Home. Mrs. Stewart was born January 6, 1909 in Jack County.
She was a longtime resident of Archer City, where she worked in dry goods for
may years. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star and First Baptist Church
of Archer City. She and Charles W. Stewart were married July 4, 1928. He died
January 14, 1982. She had lived in Tulsa for six years. Pallbearers were Brett
Campbell, Greg Osborne, C.M. Strawn, Mike Stewart, Maurice Strawn and Jim
Strawn. Honorary pallbearers were Jeffry S. Smith, Kirk G. Osborne, Coby
Osborne and Jim Smith. Survivors include a daughter, Bebe Campbell of Tulsa;
a stepson, Gene of Wichita Falls; a brother, G.M. Strawn of Archer City; four
sisters, Velma Robertson of Olney, Modena Osborne of Portland, Jaunell Smith of
Denton and Launell Matthews of Archer City; two grandchildren; three step-
grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.

Bowling, Ernest
Earnest Fain Bowling, 62, of Holliday died Wednesday, September 22, 1993, in
Holliday. Graveside services were 10 a.m. Friday in Holliday Cemetery with the
Rev. Randy Potter, pastor of First Baptist Church of Holliday,officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Owens 7 Brumley Funeral Home.
Mr. Bowling was born July 5, 1931 in Holliday where he was a lifetime resident.
He was a member of Church of Christ and pat member of Holliday City Council. He
was employed by Chambless Oil Co. He was a charter member of Holliday Lions
Club and Riding Club. He and Olene Bowling were married July 6, 1954.
Survivors include his wife; tow sons. Mike of Iowa Park and Burle of Palm
Desert, California; a brother, I.M. of Darrouzett; and three sisters, Laura
Redden, Dollie Harney and Rosalee Hendricks; and two grandchildren. Memorials
may be made to Hospice or Stonewall Jackson Park Fund in Holliday.

Dodd, Leola Nevada
Leola Nevada Dodd 83, of Holliday, died Friday, September 24, 1993 in an Iowa
Park Nursing home. Services were 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of
Holliday with the Rev. Harvey McMurry, Pastor of City View Baptist Church,
officiating. Burial was in Holliday Cemetery under the direction of Dutton
Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dodd was born June 6, 1910 in Seymour. She was a homemaker and lived in
Holliday most of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of
Holliday. She and Cecil Dodd were married November 29, 1934 in Seymour. He
died February 28, 1981. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Moore of Wichita
Falls and Shirley Parnell of Tye; a sister, Wanda Armstrong of Corpus Christi; a
brother, Alton Welch of Borger; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Page, Vera Jane Linscott
Vera Jane Linscott Page, 85, died Sunday, September 26, 1993, in a Wichita Falls
nursing home. Graveside services were 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Archer City
Cemetery with Roger Deerinwater, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Mrs. Page was born August 13, 1908, in Atoka, Oklahoma. She had lived in Archer
City since 1924. She and Ben Allen Page were married August 6, 1926 in Graham.
He died May 8, 1980. She was a member of First Baptist Church and had passed
the first Texas State Board of Cosmetology Exam in 1936. She and her husband
owned and operated their own shops in Archer City until her retirement in 1985.
She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Archer City
Volunteer Fire Department Women's Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son, Billy A. of Wichita Falls; a daughter, Dean Camille
Page of Wichita Falls; a sister, Pauline Tyree of Atoka; five grandchildren;

Whisenant, Maggie
Maggie Mae Whisenant, 85, died Monday October 4, 1993, in an Archer City nursing
home. Graveside services were Wednesday in Archer City Cemetery with Roger
Deerinwater, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements were
under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Mrs. Whisenant was born April 28, 1903 near Collinsville in Grayson County. She
had lived in Archer City since the early 1980s. She was a Baptist. Her son
R.L. Jr. died August 1, 1986. Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Pat
Whisenant of McAllen; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Coleman, Ouida
Ouida Vincent Coleman, 60, died Friday, October 8, 1993, in her home on the
Coleman Ranch in northern Archer County. Services were Monday at 3 p.m. at
Aulds Funeral Home with Roger Deerinwater, pastor of First Baptist Church,
officiating. Burial was in Crestview Memorial Park in Wichita Falls.
Mrs. Coleman was born December 26, 1932, the daughter of Robert L. Vincent and
Lucy Guthrie Vincent, in Wichita Falls. She and Don Coleman were married May 8,
1970 in Wichita Falls. She then moved to the Coleman Ranch. She was an
Episcopalian. She was a former resident of Wichita Falls and had worked for
several insurance companies in the Wichita Falls area. Pallbearers were Dale
Coleman, Danny Coleman, Doyle Coleman, Doug Coleman, and Dave Coleman.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Cyndi Myers of Dallas; two sons, Cal
Myers of Rowlett and Scott Myers of Birmingham, Alabama; a step-daughter, Kenda
Rankin of Friberg Community; two stepsons, Rex of Lake Kickapoo and Todd of
Corpus Christi; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Thomas, Clyde
Clyde W. Thomas, 84, died Saturday, October 30, 1993, in an Olney hospital.
Services were 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Aulds Funeral Home with the Rev. James T.
Miller, pastor of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in San Antonio,
officiating. Burial was in Crestview Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction
of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
Mr. Thomas was born September 11, 1909 in Baylor County. He and Hazel Raney
were married June 24, 1934 in duncan Oklahoma. They resided in Alvord before
moving to Archer City in the early 1940s. He was a welder for L.T. Burns Estate
until his retirement in 1971 with more than 40 years of service. After his
retirement from Burns, he became a self-employed welder for many years. He was
a member of the First Christian Church. Pallbearers were Bill Crow, Roy Petit,
Wayne Abshire, Larry Nichols, Harold Garlington, and Bobby L. "Clown" Williams.
Survivors include his wife; two nieces; Daisy Ann Pinkerton of Decatur and Betty
Ralph of Corpus Christi; one nephew, Rev. James T. Miller of San Antonio; and
several great-nieces and great nephews.

Page, Billy A.
Billy A. Page, 62, of Wichita Falls died Thursday, October 28, 1993, in a
Wichita Falls nursing home. Graveside services were 11 a.m. Saturday in Archer
City Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Norsworthy, pastor of Lamar Baptist Church of
Wichita Falls, officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Aulds
Funeral Home.
Mr. Page was born August 21, 1931 in Tahoka. He moved to Archer City in 1938
and was a graduate of Archer City High School. He was a veteran of the Navy.
He was a 1958 graduate of Midwestern State University with a bachelor of science
degree in education. He completed graduate school at North Texas State
University in 1967 with a master's degree in education. Upon graduation, he
moved to Wichita Falls and was a teacher and coach at Wichita Falls High School
from 1967 until his retirement in 1981. For the past 12 years, he had been a
rancher and had worked with cutting horses in Clay County. He was a member of
Retired Wichita Falls Coaches Association and National Cutting Horse
Association. He was a member of Lamar Baptist Church. He and Gail Page were
married February 25, 1984 in Wichita Falls.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Blan and todd, both of Wichita Falls; a
sister Dean Camille of Wichita Falls; and a granddaughter.

City, Tx. 76351.
McWhorter, June
June McWhorter, 69, died Sunday morning, October 31, 1993, in a Wichita Falls
hospital. Services were 4 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Archer City
with Roger Deerinwater, pastor, and the Rev. Willie Johnson, pastor of First
Untied Methodist Church of Archer City, officiating. Burial was in Archer City
Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
She was born February 22, 1924, in Archer County, where she lived throughout her
life. She had lived in Archer City since 1955. She and Kenneth McWhorter were
married January 1, 1942 in Lawton, Oklahoma. She was a homemaker and a member
of the Church of Christ.
She was a member of Ira Jones Post No. 198 of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Pallbearers were T. Richardson, Todd Richardson, Tony Richardson, Lanny Hubbard,
Billy Hubbard and Don McEwen, Jr. Survivors include her husband; three
daughters, Giner Hilton of Olney, Kandy McWhorter of Muleshoe and Jan Long of
Abilene; three sons, Jerry of Lubbock, Joe of Archer City and Jay of Wichita
Falls; two sisters, Fay Johnson.

Robertson, Velma
Velma Lee Robertson, 83, died Friday, October 22, 1993, in an Olney nursing
home. Graveside services were 2 p.m. Monday in Archer City Cemetery with Roger
Deerinwater, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements were
under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Mrs. Robertson was born May 11, 1910 in Buffalo Springs. She moved to Archer
City in 1924. She and E.W. "Bill" Robertson were married July 11, 1927 in
Montague County. They had delivered the Wichita Falls Times and Record News
for 17 years in Archer City. He died April 2, 1990. She was a member of First
Baptist Church. She had been a sales clerk at Heard's Department Store for many
years.
Survivors include a son, Warren M. of Rochester, Washington; a brother G.M.
"Speck" Strawn of Archer City; three sisters, Modena Osborne of Portland,
Jaunelle Smith of Denton and Launell Matthews of Archer City; four
granddaughters, eight great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Brown, Myrtie B.
Myrtie B. Brown, 82, died Monday, October 3, 1988 in Archer City Nursing Home.
Services were held Wednesday, October 5 at 10 a.m. in Lunn Funeral Home Chapel
with Rev. Bobby King of Faith Baptist in Archer City officiating. Burial was
in Restland Cemetery in Olney.
Brown was born December 9, 1905 in Grand Saline, Texas. She married Francis
Brown on December 31, 1925 in Olney, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of
the Baptist Church. She lived in Archer City 14 years. Prior to her move to
Archer City she had lived in Olney since 1945.
Survivors include a son, Phillip R. Brown of Archer City; a daughter, Betty
Bitner of Archer City; two sisters, Gracie Craddock of Holliday, and Adean
Huffman of Sundown, Texas; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Davenport, Susan Rella
Susan Rella Davenport, 77, of Holliday died Thursday. Services were at 1 p.m.
Saturday at Hampton-Vaughn Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Rollins, pastor of
Assembly of God Church of Holliday, officiating. Graveside services were at 4
p.m. Saturday at Slidell, Texas Cemetery.
Davenport was born March 14, 1911, in McKinney, Texas and had lived in Holliday
most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God
Church in Decatur, Texas.
Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Hicks of Holliday; two brothers, Neil
Hollis of Decatur and Dee Raymond Hollis of Hammond, Ind.; four grandchildren;
and eight great-grandchildren.

Hoff, John A.
John A. Hoff, 65, died Tuesday in a car accident in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Services were 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Windthorst,
with the Rev. Bartholomew Landwermeyer, pastor, officiating. Rosary was at 7:30
p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic
Cemetery in Windthorst under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
Hoff was born July 6, 1923, in Windthorst. He and Mildred Kuehler were married
Nov. 18, 1946 in Decatur. He was a retired self-employed transport operator who
had contracted with Borden Milk Co. of Dallas. He had served with the Marine
Corps 3rd Division in World War II where he had been awarded a Purple Heart, two
battle stars, an Expert Rifleman Award and had received a presidential
commendation for bravery and gallantry. He was a member of Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post No. 2147 and disabled American Veterans, both of Wichita
Falls. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Scotland, and was a
member of Kettler Council No. 1824 and the Father Albert General Assembly of the
Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus where he had served as a captain.

Woods, John Robert "Bob"
John Robert "Bob" Woods, 77, of Archer City died Feb. 13, 1989 at Hamilton
Hospital in Olney. Woods was born Oct. 3, 1911 in Gibtown. Services will be
held Thursday (today) at 2:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Archer City with
Roger Deerinwater, pastor, officiating assisted by Billy Holley, pastor of First
Assembly of God in Archer City. Funeral will be under the direction of Aulds
Funeral Home with burial in the Archer City Cemetery.
Bob was a salesman for Burlison Packing Company for 17 years prior to his
retirement in 1974. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a Military
Police with the U.S. Army. He was a long time member of the First Baptist
Church and served in a gospel-singing group with the "Salvation Singers"
ministering to the Archer Nursing Home for many years. Bob and Bessie Pearl
Parks Porter were married Nov. 19, 1960 in Archer City.
Survivors include his wife Bessie Pearl; three daughters, Sandra Sheffield and
Sharon Vanbebber of Archer City and Ava Mohrbutter of Olney; seven
grandchildren, Duane, Diane, and Darci Deen, Tammi and Trisha Vanbebber, and
Ross and Randy Loftin; one brother, W.A.Woods of Ft. Worth; and one sister,
Ernestine Gillespie of Perrin. Pallbearers were Rob Starnes, Buddy Crelia,
Charlie King, Charles Hilbers, Roy Alsup, and Bobby Blackburn.

McBride, Richard Robert
Richard Robert McBride, 66, of Holliday, died Saturday in a Wichita Falls
hospital. Services were 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home with
the Rev. Charles Hensley, pastor of First Assembly of God in Iowa Park,
officiating. Burial was in Crestview Memorial Park.
McBride was born Feb. 10, 1923 in Paris. He was a retired oilfield well service
operator and a Baptist. He was a World War II Air Force veteran, a member of
American Legion Post No. 120 in Wichita Falls and a life member of Disabled
American Veterans.
Survivors include four daughters, Barbara Gerstner of Iowa Park, Shirley
Spigener of Temple, Deborah Cunningham of Dallas and Tina Hohfeld of Wichita
Falls; two sons, Glenn Dunn of Iowa Park and Richard McBride of Rowlett; three
sisters, Katherine Pruitt of Port Arthur, Lois Briges of Oklahoma and Ruby Lewis
of McKinney; and three brothers, Porter of Denison, and J.D. and Johnny of

Daume, Lydia
Lydia Daume, 93, of Holliday, died Saturday in a Wichita Falls nursing home.
Services were 2 p.m. Monday at Trinity American Lutheran Church with the Rev.
Norman Albertson, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Holliday Cemetery under
the direction of Tanner-Aulds Funeral Home.
Daume was born Sept. 19, 1895, in Ashley, N.D. She moved to Holliday in 1907
where she lived the rest of her life. The former Lydia Nitschke married Fred
Daume on April 15, 1915 in the Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a charter
member of Trinity American Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a son, Fred of Holliday; three grandchildren; and seven
great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be made to the Trinity
American Lutheran Church.

McShan, Ray
Services for Ray McShan 73, of Lakeside City who died in his home Saturday were
at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hampton-Vaughn Funeral Home with the Rev. David Bryant
officiating. Burial was in Crestview Memorial Park.
He was born Oct. 17, 1915, in Blessing. He was a retired garage owner and civil
service worker. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church. He and Ruth Miller
were married Sept. 18, 1936.
Survivors include his wife of Wichita Falls; two daughters, Linda Fay Garrison
and Phyllis Diane Maddox, both of Wichita Falls; a son, Arnold Ray of Lakeside
City; a sister, Garnett Long of Bowie; three brothers, Ira of Wichita Falls,
Harbert of Fort Worth and Doyle of Wichita Falls; nine grandchildren; and five
great-grandchildren. The family will be at 201 Royal in Lakeside City.

Austin, Glenn James
Services for Glenn James Austin, 19 of Holliday, were held Thursday, Dec. 22,
1988, in First Baptist Church, Holliday with burial in Holliday Cemetery under
the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home. Officiating ministers were Rev.
John Hancock, First Baptist pastor and Gil Peters, minister of Holliday Church
of Christ.
Austin died Dec. 19, in Holliday. He was born May 4, 1969, in Lovington, NM and
had been a Holliday resident for six months where he was a member of the First
Baptist Church. He attended school in Odessa for 11 years and was editor of the
school newspaper, student counselor, in All-City Choir, Who's Who in Academic
Awards and a football and track star. He graduated from White Oak High School
which he attended the last three years of high school. Here he participated in
football and UIL accounting and received scholarships from the White Oak Fire
Department and the Dot Taylor award He was employed by Pinocchio's Pizza in
Wichita Falls and the Good N'Plenty of Iowa Park.
Survivors include his parents, Gyla Austin of Holliday; Jim Austin of Lubbock; a
brother Jamie Glenn of Holliday; grandparents Dessie Hurt and the late Bill Hurt
of Holliday; Bill Austin of Glendale, Ariz.; Irene Austin of Lubbock; a great-
grandmother Ruth Jones of Holliday; an uncle, Gary Hurt of Hollliday and an
aunt, Linda Langley of White Oak.
Pallbearers were Rick Byars, B.W. Stone, Clint Sissom, Clay Lindley, Donnie
Hodgkins and Willie Curlee.

Hicks, John D.
John D. Hicks, 62, died Friday at a Wichita Flls hospital. Memorial services
were at 2 p.m. Monday at Aulds Funeral Home in Archer City.
Hicks was born June 26, 1926, in Hillsville, Va. His wife, Billie Newton, died
Aug. 7, 1982. He retired as a master sergeant in the Air Force after 28 years
service. He was fire chief of the Lake Kickapoo Volunteer Fire Department of
which he was instrumental in developing and organizing. He was commander of the
Ira Jones Post 198 of the American Legion in Archer City and was president of
the Wichita Valley Water Department. He was a board member of the Archer County
Hospital Board and was the radiological defense officer of the Archer County
Emergency Management Committee.
Survivors include his parents, Charlie and Naomi Leagans of Hillsville; three
sisters, Mildred Marsh of Bell Alton, Md., Iris Dickerson of LaPlata, Md., and
Mary Joyce of Annapolis, Md.; two daughters, Debbie Hough and Patsie Ingram,
both of Montgomery, Ala.; and one granddaughter.
The family requests memorials be sent to Lake Kickapoo Volunteer Fire
Department.

Rowlett, Carl
Carl Rowlett, 51, died Wednesday in a Wichita Falls hospital. Services were at
10.a.m. Saturday at First Methodist Church in Megargel, with the Rev. C.L.
Shipman of Haskell, the Rev. Randy Lawson, pastor of Church of God in Olney and
the Rev. Lee Hembree, pastor of Faith Temple in Seymour, officiating. Burial
was in Megargel Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home in Olney.
Rowlett was born May 15, 1937, in Seymour. He and Bonnie Barker were married
Dec. 29, 1962, in Olney. He was a oilfield worker and worked for Hughes and
Palmer for 19 years. He had been a resident of Megargel for 25 years.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Carl "Tooter" of Lubbock; three daughters,
LaDonna Gleghorn of Fort Worth, Sharon Rainwater of Seymour and Mona Gibbs of
Olney; one brother, Robert of Eastland; two sisters, Jean Kunkel of Olney and
Blanche Spillman of Wndell, Idaho; and six grandchildren.

Veitenheimer, Bernadette
Sister Bernadette Veitenheimer, 92, of Fort Worth died Saturday, October 24,
1992 in Our Lady of Victory Center in Fort Worth.
Christian wake service was 4 p.m. Sunday at Our Lady of Victory Center.
Services were 10:30 Monday at our Lady of Victory Center. Burial was in
Mount Olivet Cemetery in Fort Worth under the direction of Thompson's,
Harveson & Cole Funeral Home.
Sister Veitenheimer was born in Windthorst. She entered the Sisters of
St. Mary of Namur in 1925. She had served in schools in Sherman, Waco,
Wichita Falls, Dallas, Arlington and Houston. In 1970, she retired to Our
Lady of Victory Center after teaching and working for 54 years in the
ministry.
Survivors include a brother, Albert of Windthorst; and a sister, Bertha
of Windthorst.

Shawver, Tommie
Tommie L. Shawver, 76, died Sunday, October 25, 1992, at his home in
Archer City.
Services were 10 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church with the
Rev. Wally Williams, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Archer City
Cemetery under the direction 9f Aulds Funeral Home.
Mr. Shawver was born April 4, 1916 in Jack County. He moved to Archer
City in 1946. He and Edna Wilson were married November 1, 1947 in
Henrietta. He was a former rancher and heavy equipment operator and retired
after working 10 years as custodian for the Archer City Independent School
District. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Archer
City.
Survivors include his wife; three sisters, Audrey Walls of Olney,
Lillie Nored of Graham and Grace Ward of Megargel; and three brothers,
Garvin of Iowa Park, V.M. of Graham and L.E. of Megargel.
Pallbearers were John Bell, Virgil Patton, Floyd Hoggins, Jerry Cox,

Drum, Alta Forrest
Alta Forrest Drum, 77, died Sunday, October 25, 1992, in an Archer City
nursing home.
Services were 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney with Darrel
McWhorter of the Gatesville Church of Christ officiating. Burial was in
Restland Cemetery in Olney.
Mrs. Drum was born September 23, 1915 in Westover. She lived in Wichita
Falls for 30 years. She was a retired nurse and a Baptist. She and Turner
Forrest were married in 1936 in Seymour. He died in 1963.
Survivors include two sisters, Bertie Newson Hudgeons of Lubbock and
Georgia Owens of Mesquite; six grandchildren and two great -grandchildren.

Adams, Leland C.
Leland C. Adams, 86, of Holliday, died Thursday, May 19, in a Wichita
Falls nursing home. Services were held Saturday, May 21, at the Church of
Christ in Holliday with Gil Peters, minister, officiating. Burial was in
Holliday Cemetery under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.
Adams was born June 19, 1901 in Boyd, Texas, and had lived in Holliday
since 1936 where he was a retired postmaster. he graduated from Abilene
Christian College in 1927. He taught in Brownwood, San Angelo, Perrin and
Holliday. He taught mathematics and was the first coach at Holliday.
Before becoming postmaster in Holliday, he was principal for four years. He
was postmaster from 1945 until 1971.
He and Genevieve Harmon were married Dec. 29, 1933, in Duncan, Okla.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Walter Harold of Nederland, Texas; a
brother, Walter H. of Abilene, Texas and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Church of Christ in Holliday, Alzeimer's
Support Group, or a favorite charity.

Robertson, Jimmy
Funeral services for Jimmy Horton Robertson, 22, were held Wednesday in Aulds
Chapel in Archer City, with Rev. Donnie Linscott, Baptist minister of Archer
City officiating. Burial was in Archer City Cemetery under the direction of
Aulds.
Mr Robertson, an employee of Jack Bearden Drilling Co., was electrocuted in an
industrial accident Monday, while working on an oil drilling rig near
Chillicothe.
Robertson was born June 22, 1961 in Kingsville and had lived in Archer City
since 1978, where he was employed in the oil fields.
Survivors include his parents, Neil and Martha Robertson of Archer City; a
sister, Jeanette york, Archer City; two brothers, Danny Robertson, Olney and
Stanley Robertson of Archer City; and his grandparents, Mr and Mrs. Arch
Robertson, of Archer City and Mrs. Katherine Crippens of Fort Towson, Oklahoma.

Stone, Annie Clyde
Funeral Services for Mrs. Annie Clyde Stone, 69, of Wichita Falls, were held
July 25 in Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls. Rev. W.R. Stone of
Hugo, Okla. and Rev. T.L. Wilborn, pastor of First Assembly of God Church
officiated. Burial was in the Dundee Cemetery under the direction of Owens &
Brumley.
Mrs. Stone died July 24 in a Wichita Falls hospital. She was born Sept 5, 1913
in Alabama. She and Roy Stone were married April 16, 1936 in Durant, Oklahoma
and made their home on the Stone family farm at Blackflat until his death in
1972. She had moved to Wichita Falls three years ago. She was a member of Elm
Ridge Baptist Church in Como. She was a housewife.
Survivors include a son, Roy Lee Stone, Jr. of Wichita Falls; her mother Mrs.
C.T. Livingston of Como; five sisters, Mrs Ruby Darr; Mrs Mary Batchlor, both of
Sulphur Springs; Mrs. Betty Flora of Como; Mrs. Ella Gilbreath of Keller; one
brother, Thomas Ray Livingston, Mesquite and four grandchildren.

Funeral services for Miss Ordener, 86, of Scotland were held Saturday in St.
Boniface Catholic Church with church pastor Rev. Bartholonew Landwermeyer
officiating. Burial was in St. Boniface Cemetery under the direction of Owens
and Brumley Funeral Home. Rosary was held Friday at the chapel in Wichita
Falls.
Miss Ordener died Friday in a Wichita Falls hospital. She was born March 17,
1897 in Windthorst and had been a lifelong resident of Archer County. She was
retired from farming and ranching and was a member of St. Boniface Catholic
Church.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Ed Luig, Hugo Teichman, Lawerence Schlabs, Bernard Hilbers,
Leon Schnider and Charles Smith.

Hawkins, Miss Ida
Longtime Archer County resident and retired teacher, Miss Ida Hawkins, 89, died
last Tuesday in Archer Nursing Home. Funeral services were held Thursday at
First Methodist Church in Archer City with Church pastor Rev. Woody Weilage
officiating. Burial was in Antelope Cemetery under the direction of Auld Funeral
Home.
Ida Hawkins was born May 16, 1894 in Bowie and had lived in Archer City since
the 1920's. She received Bachelor of Science degree from East Texas State
Teachers College and did graduate work at the University of Texas, Southwestern
State University, West Texas State university, the University of Wyoming at
Laramie and Sul Ross University in Alpine. She taught social studies 30 years
in Archer City school, mostly in the elementary and jr. high grades, where it
was said by a contemprary, "she maintained respect of the hardest of all
students to work with". She also taught school in Olney, Graham, Tulsa and
Miami for a total of 44 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include four nieces, Agnes Crowley Bassham, Lois Crowley Roeger, both
of Wichita Falls, Faye Hawkins Alford, Fort Worth; Betty Pease, Los Angeles
and three nephews, Jim Hawkins of Archer City; John Hawkins, Mineral Wells and
Brian Crowley, Abingdon, Virginia; 20 great-neices and nephews; 30 great-
grandnieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Don Small, Cecil Fletcher Jr., Charlie McDaniel, Luke
Kirkland, Charlie Martin and Jack Loftin.

Campbell, Leroy Vincent
Leroy Vincent Campbell Sr. 45, died in Scotland Tuesday August 16. Services were
held Thursday at St. Boniface Catholic Church with the Rev. Bartholonew
Landwermeyer, pastor, officiating. Burial was held in St. Boniface Cemetary
under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
Campbell was born May 17, 1938 in Scotland. He was a self-employed mechanic.
Survivors include four sons, LeRoy Jr. of Wichita Falls, James of Florida, and
Sonny and David, both of Bryson, three daughters, Cindy Austin of Wichita Falls,
Sharon Nelson of Bryson and Teresa White of Jacksboro, his mother, Valera
Campbell of Scotland, three sisters, Mrs. Yvonne Morrison of Henrietta, Mrs.
Jean Steinsick of Arkansas and Gerladine Lewis of Scotland and 12 grandchildren.

McDonald, Rose T.
Services for Rose T. McDonald, 81, of Scotland, were Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at
St. Boniface Catholic Church in Scotland with the Rev. Peter Sharum, pastor,
officiating. Burial was in St. Boniface Cemetery. She died Saturday, August 31,
1991, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
She was born April 29, 1910, in Windthorst. She was a lifetime resident of
Scotland, a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and a housewife.
Survivors include six daughters, Imogene Costello of Clarksville, Tennessee,
Mary H. Baumer and Rose Fraker, both of Scotland, Pat Jentsch of Wichita
Falls, Agnes McDonald of Iowa Park and Imelda Hallenbeck of New Paltz, New
York; three sisters, Mary Wolf of Wichita Falls and Teresa Hajovsky and Helen
Martinka, both of Scotland; three brothers, Fred Teichman of Amarillo, and
Tony Teichman and Hugo Teichman, both of Scotland, 29 grandchildren and 43
great-grandchildren.

Hampton, Duke
Duke Hampton, 88, of Megargel died Saturday, August 31, 1991. Services were 2
p.m. Monday at the Megargel Church of Christ with Scott Clark, minister of the
Hamilton Street Church of Christ in Olney officiating. Burial was in Megargel
Cemetery under the direction of Seymour Memorial Funeral Home.
He was born March 8, 1903, in File Valley. He moved with his family to
Megargel in 1905 where he lived until he moved to Seymour 3 1/2 years ago.
He was a farmer and oil field worker. He was a member of the Megargel Church
of Christ. He and Birdie Haines were married March 18, 1929, in Post. She
died September 30, 1982.
Survivors include a daughter, Josephine Thomas of Corpus Christi; four sons,
Jerry of Seymour, John of Frederick, Oklahoma, W.D. of Abilene, and Kenneth
Lee of Pecos; two sisters, Irue Routon and Ione Harwell, both of Olney; two
brothers, J.B. of Sunset and O.V. of Megargel; 17 grandchildren and 33
great-grandchildren.

Ernie P. Bryant, 84, died Friday, August 30, 1991, in a Memphis, Texas nursing
home. Services were 2 p.m. Sunday at O'Brien Baptist Church with the Rev. Cliff
Cooper, pastor, officiating. Burial was in O'Brien Cemetery under the
direction of Smith Funeral Home.
She was born March 27, 1907 in Dundee. She was a Methodist.
Survivors include a daughter, Connie Mims of Roby; and four grandchildren.

Hollister, Adele Harrell
Adele Harrell Hollister of Arlington died Friday, August 9, 1991, in a local
hospital. Services were held in the home by Rev. Mark Winter, St. Barnabas
Methodist Church. Burial was in Arlington Cript under the direction of Hugh M.
Moore & Sons.
She was born in Gainesville on January 10, 1906. She married Harry H. Hollister
in Olney in 1926. She lived in Archer City 9 1/2 years and moved to Dallas in
1941 and Arlington in 1982.
She was past State President of P.E.O. and organized the first P.E.O. Chapter
in Arlington. A Memorial Service for P.E.O. members was planned. She was a
25-year member of Highland Park Methodist Choir, taught Sunday school and
Methodist Missionary Study Women's Circle.
Survivors include her husband, Harry; a daughter, Carol Prine of Arlington; a
grandson, Robert P. West of Florida; one sister, Jean Ellis of Wichita Falls
and a niece, Helen Lupia of Lubbock.

Mahler, Doyle
Doyle Mahler, 59, died Tuesday, October 8, 1991, at a Wichita Falls hospital.
Graveside services were 11 a.m. Thursday in the Loving Cemetery with Scotte
Clark, minister of Hamilton Street Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements
were under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home.
Mr. Mahler was born May 25, 1932 in Loving. He and Evelyn Wilson were married
June 13, 1991 in Graham. He was an oil field worker and member of Loving Church
of Christ. He served in the Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife of Archer City; and brother, E.S. "Sid" of Archer
City.
Pallbearers were Max Anderson, Eddie Benton, Freddie Pryor, John Bell, J.G.
Whisnand and Marvin Pickard.

Finnell, John
Lt. Col. (Ret) John William Finnell, 73, of Chester, Virginia died Thursday,
September 19, 1991 in Henrico Doctor's Hospital in Richmond Virginia following
an extended illness.
Funeral services were Monday, September 23 at 11 a.m. at the Fort Lee Memorial
Chapel. Officiating were Col. Joseph Stock, Chaplain; Lt. Col. Lafayette
Wilkins, Chaplain; and Rev. William Gulick. Interment followed in Southlawn
Memorial Park, Prince George, Virginia.
He was born in Holliday, son of the late Brownlea W. and Dona B. Finnell and
had resided in Virginia for the last 30 years. He retired from the U.S. Army
as a Finance Officer in 1965 and was retired as a Senior Systems Analyst for
the City of Richmond in 1979. He was a member of the Retired Officers
Association and the Richmond Association of Retired Employees. He was a
graduate of Texas Tech University.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Threlkeld Finnell, Chester, Virginia; a son
John W. Finnell, Jr. of Chester; a daughter, Linda J. Finnell of Dallas and a
brother, Wayne Finnell of Alto, New Mexico.

Davis, Lennie Preston
Graveside services for Lennie Preston Davis, 79, were 11 a.m. Saturday in
Electra Memorial Park with Charles Terry, minister of Kamay Church of Christ,

Mrs. Davis died Tuesday, October 8, 1991, in a Wichita Falls nursing home.
She was born September 12, 1912 in Limestone County. She lived in Wichita
Falls for two years, moving from Archer City and was a former resident of
Iowa Park.
Survivors include four sons, C.L. Walton of Monrovia, California,
C.E. Preston of Topock, Arizona, A.L. Preston of Wichita Falls and B.J.
Preston of Whittier, California; two daughters, Mary Gunter of Wichita Falls

sisters, Lucille White of McKinney, Nina Culver of Wichita Falls, Marie Case

Calvin Cyrus Myers, 77, of Byers died Tuesday, October 8, 1991. Graveside
services were 11 a.m. Thursday in Holliday Cemetery with Mike Priddy of Petrolia
Church of Christ officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Owens &
Brumley Funeral Home.
Mr. Myers was born March 29, 1914 in Truscott and had lived in the Bowie area
since 1931. He was a retired mechanic.
Survivors include two sisters, Edna Short of Port Lavaca and Buelah Nichols
of Holliday; and a brother Floyd of Bowie.

Carrington, Willie Franklin
Services for Willie Franklin Carrington, 66, were 2 p.m. Thursday at Calvary
Baptist Church with the Rev. Darryl Smith and the Rev. Arthur Tigert
officiating. Burial was in Woodman of the World Cemetery with military
graveside rites conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7871.
Arrangements were under the direction of Seymour Memorial Funeral Home. He died
Tuesday, October 22, 1991, at Lake Kemp.
Mr. Carrington was born May 10, 1925, in Detroit, Texas and was a longtime
resident of Seymour. He was a contract painter. He and Delphine Copeland
were married March 4, 1944 in Seymour. He was a veteran of the Army, serving
in World War II. He was a member and deacon of Calvary Baptist Church, where
he served as past Sunday School superintendent, teacher of the men's Sunday
school class and the Royal Ambassadors.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Judy Mitchell of Seymour, Linda
Reddell of Munday, Joy Bowling of Holliday and Cynthia Pritchard of Lubbock;
three sons, Willie Franklin III of Throckmorton, Dennis of Seymour and Rance
of Lubbock; two sisters, Lessie Cumbie of Seymour and Geraldine Copeland of
Beaverton, Oregon; and 12 grandchildren.

Leona Mae Hemmi, 92, died Sunday, November 3, 1991, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Rosary was 7 p.m. Monday at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Services were 10:30
a.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Peter Sharum, pastor, officiating.
Burial was in St. Boniface Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of
Archer City.
She was born November 16, 1898 in Nada. She moved to Scotland in 1910 and
was a descendant of one of the first settling families of Scotland. She was
a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and was a retired seamstress.
Survivors include a sister, Anna Mae Munster of Dallas.
Pallbearers were Art Hemmi, Bill Hemmi, Alan Hemmi, Dr. Chris Hemmi, Lewis
Lindeman and Jerome Berend.

Ruby Hallum, 74, died Tuesday, October 29, 1991, at her home in Holliday.
Services were 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy

Burial was in Holliday Cemetery under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral
Home of Wichita Falls.
She was born August 14, 1917 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma and had lived in Holliday
for 45 years, moving from Maude, Oklahoma. She was a member of First Baptist
Church and was a homemaker. She was also a former nurses aide. She and
Vergil Hallum were married June 15, 1936 in Center, Oklahoma.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Jo Ann Stone of Black Flat
Community, and Erma Lee Dillard and Joyce Craig, both of Holliday; two
sisters, Artie Holland of Edmond, Oklahoma and Ruth McClain of Paris,
California; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Winnie J. Soape, 93, died Friday, November 1, 1991, in a Wichita Falls nursing

Mrs. Soape was born September 17, 1898 in Fort Davis. She was a retired

Holliday for 50 years. He was retired from Gulf Oil and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline; a son, Ted of Burkburnett; a daughter,
Margie Ruth of Holliday; two brothers, Woodrow of Calera, Oklahoma and Wilson
of Weatherford; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Curtis Patterson, 83, died Sunday, November 10, 1991, in an Olney hospital.
Services were 10 a.m. Tuesday at Petrolia Baptist Church. Burial was in

He was born October 19, 1908 in the Riverland community in Clay County. He
was a farmer and rancher and a member of First Baptist Church in Archer City.

Colleyville; a son, Bill of Dallas; two stepsons, Henry L. Connell III of
Ferris and John Gregory of Hermit; a brother Elzy of Petrolia; a sister, Mary

Terry Wayne Petit, 29, died Friday, November 15, 1991, in a Wichita Falls
hospital.
Services were at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy

direction of Seymour Memorial Funeral Home.
He was born December 13, 1961 in Vernon and was raised in Archer City. He
moved to Seymour in 1973 and was a graduate of Seymour High School. He and
Kerri Denay Karr were married March 6, 1982 in Seymour. He was a cowboy and
was a past member of the Seymour Rodeo Association. He was also a member of
First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Kristopher Wayne of Seymour; his parents,
Wayne and Kay of Seymour; a brother, Jo Mac of Seymour; and his grandmother,
Edna Hudgens of Seymour.
Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association or the National Kidney

Lucy B. "Pat" Simmons, 78, died Thursday, November 14, 1991, at an Archer City
nursing home.
Services were 2 p.m. Saturday at Aulds Funeral Home with the Rev. Wally

in Highland Cemetery in Iowa Park.
She was born December 8, 1912 in Choudrant, Louisiana. She and Ray Simmons
were married February 7, 1953 in Henrietta. He died June 29, 1982. She was
a retired instructor of cosmetology at the Bud Hall Beauty College in Wichita
Falls, which she managed for several years.

Mary V. Robertson, 84, of Scotland, Texas, died Wednesday, November 20, 1991 in
a Wichita Falls nursing home.
Rosary was at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 21 at Aulds Funeral Home. Mass
was at 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Scotland with Rev. Peter
Sharum, pastor, officiating. Burial was in St. Boniface Cemetery in Scotland
under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Mrs. Robertson was born February 5, 1907, in Muenster, Texas. She moved to
Scotland 20 years ago from Vashti, Texas. She was a member of St. Boniface
Catholic Church. She and Evern Robertson were married August 10, 1929, in
Wichita Falls. He died January 23, 1970.
Survivors include six sisters, Frances Hilbers of Scotland, Ann Walsh of
Archer City, Agnes Schneider of Windthorst, Texas, Angeline Prescher of
Lexington, Oklahoma and Theresa Edler and Bertha Edler, both of Chanute,
Oklahoma; and four brothers, Frank Vieth and Henry Vieth, both of Scotland,
John Vieth of Lexington and Joe Vieth of Woodward, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers were Charles Vieth, Bill Vieth, James Edler, Leon Edler, Art
Hemmi and Leon Schneider.

Florence Berryman, 91, died Saturday, November 23, 1991, in an Oklahoma City
hospital.
Services were 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Archer City with
Roger Deerinwater, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Crestview Memorial
Park under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
She was born January 24, 1900 in Rudy County, Arkansas. She and Boss B.
Berryman were married July 8, 1916 in Piedmont. He died December 16, 1968.
She had been a resident of Archer City since 1916.
Survivors include five daughters, Eloise Victory of North Archer County, Mae
Littell of Oklahoma City and Inez Huffman, Irene Shelley and Myrtle Bacon,
all of Archer City; five sons, Claude of Fluvanna, Bob of O'Brien, A.B. of
Wichita Falls, Buddy of Iowa Park and Jerry of Holliday; a sister, Marie
Light of Archer City; 36 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren and 20
great-great-grandchildren.

Pease, Betty (Mary)
Mary Elizabeth Hawkins was born March 27, 1925, in Spur, Dickens County.
Shortly afterward her family moved back to Archer City where she lived until she
finished high school. She attended NTSTC one year.
In 1948 she married David Pease and they had seven children. She lived in
Los Angeles, California for 25 years where she raised her family. She worked
for Transamerica Occidental in Los Angeles and retired to Archer City in
1988.
She died December 10, 1991 leaving her children David Pease, Debbie Billings,
Virginia Cummings, Jesse Pease, Mark Pease, Kathleen Kalez and Sara Trudeau and
thirteen grandchildren; Kimberly Robbins, Jeremiah and Timothy Billings, Robert
Pease, Jeffrey, Jason and Jonathan Pease, Sharon and SaraBeth Pease, Jennifer
Robbins, David Kalez and Danielle and Brian Trudeau.
Her body has been cremated and her ashes will be in the Pacific Ocean. A
memorial service was held 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18 at First United
Methodist Church in Archer City. Memorials may be made to the American
Cancer Society.

Darald Jennings Graham, 72, died Tuesday, December 10, 1991, in a Wichita Falls
hospital.

Rosemont Cemetery.
Mr. Graham was born June 12, 1919 in Garner and had lived in Wichita Falls

Margaret Walker were married March 25, 1973 in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Larry of Archer City; three daughters, Sue
Scruggs of Wichita Falls, Sandy Tubb of Vernon, and June Hannah of El Reno,
Oklahoma; two brothers, T.C. of Jean and Bill of Wichita Falls; seven

Crutcher, E.F. "Gene"
E.F. "Gene" Crutcher, 61, died suddenly Monday Jan. 23 in Archer City. Services
were Wednesday at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Archer City with
Rev. Raymond Butts pastor of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial
was in Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Mr. Crutcher was born July 2, 1927 in Olney. He married Pat Koen in Wellington
on October 18, 1947 and they moved to Archer City in 1954. He was employed as a
district gauger for Conoco for 41 years until his retirement a few years ago,
then was employed as a school bus driver. He was on the Administrative Board of
the First United Methodist Church and several years on the Archer City, City
Council. For many years he was an active leader in the work of the Boy Scouts
and the Cub Scouts pack 100. He was also active in the 4-H, FFA,
Little League, Punt, Pass and Kick, and the Methodist Youth Fellowship. He was
a member of the Archer Housing Authority and of the Archer County Hospital
Board.
Survivors include his wife, Pat of Archer City; four sons, Sammy of Lakeside
City; David of Wichita Falls; Preston of north Archer County and Kirk of Denton;
a sister, Laverne Bailey of Hurst and eight grand-children.
Pallbearers were John Bell, Bill Taliaferro, Eddie Morris, Charles McDaniel, Don
Small, and Graham Purcell.
The family has suggested that memorials be made to the Archer County Hospital
Fund, Box 368, Archer City, 76351.

Ensey, Sina Ellen Canada
Services for Mrs. Sina Ellen Canada Ensey, 80, of Archer City, were held Friday
in Aulds Funeral Chapel. Officiating ministers were Rev. Bobby King, pastor of
Faith Memorial Baptist Church, and Rev. Wallace Pierce, pastor of Gateway
Baptist Church in Comanche. Burial was in the Archer City Cemetery under
direction of Aulds.
Mrs. Ensey died Tuesday, Jan. 3, in Archer Nursing Home. She was born Nov. 13,
1908 in Knox County and was a longtime resident of Archer City. She and George
R. Ensey were married June 20, 1925 in Archer City and for many years she was
employed as Cafeteria supervisor for the Archer City School System.
She was a member of Faith Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband George Ensey, Sr. of Archer City; three daughters,
Opal Lyles, Holliday; Lucille Hasley, Archer City and Joyce Strickland, Iowa
Park; one son, George Ensey, Jr. "Sonny", Archer City; a sister Mae Ensey,
Wichita Falls; a brother H.M. Canada, Wichita Falls; 14 grandchildren; 16 great
grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Robert "Dugan" Sammons, 63, a longtime businessman in Holliday, died Thursday in
a Wichita Falls hospital. Services were held Saturday in Owens & Brumley
funeral Chapel Wichita Falls, with Rev. T.L. Wilborn,pastor of First Assembly of
God Church officiating. He was assisted by associate pastor, Rev. James Keenum
with burial in the Holliday Cemetery.
Sammons was born June 19, 1925 in Leon County and had been a resident of
Holliday for 20 years. He was retired from ownership of Speedee Food Store in
Holliday and a former member of the Retail Grocers Assn. He was a member of the
First Assembly of God in Wichita Falls.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Mary Nell Killian of Holliday.
Pallbearers were Jim Darr, Emory Kincaid, Hersel Adams, J.R. Franklin, Gary
Green, and W.A. Woods.

William "Pappy" Wyatt Reeves, 88 died Tuesday Jan. 3, in Webster hospital.

Reeves was born Aug. 22, 1900 in Eliasville. He was a rancher.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys of Archer City; one son, John P. of Texas
City; one daughter, Marguerite Smith of Pascoag, R.I.; one brother Clem A. of
Valley Mills; one sister, Vadalee Fernauld of Sun City West, Ariz.; six

Roy Holliman, 86, of Holliday, died Friday, April 15, in a Wichita Falls

Mrs. Finnell was born June 15, 1945, in Duncan, Oklahoma. She was nurse

Church of Christ in Holliday. She graduated Holliday High School and nurses'
training school at Methodist Hospital in Lubbock, Texas. Survivors include her
husband, Larry; a son, Sean; a daughter, Serentha; and a sister, Vickie Tucker,
all of Holliday.

J.D. Powell, 78, passed away Monday afternoon at his home. Services were held

Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas, officiating. Burial was in Archer City Cemetery

Mr. Powell was born October 9, 1909 in Mertens, Texas. He was a lifetime
resident of Archer County and was a descendant of an Archer County pioneering
family. He was a longtime rancher and had also served as manager of the C.H.
Parker Grocery Store in Archer City for 21 years. He attended First Baptist
Church and had served as a charter director of Archer County Hospital Board. He
was a former stockholder of Archer County Rodeo Association and was a past
member of the Archer City Lions Club. He married Marie King on September 3,
1936 in Olney, Texas.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Melissa Hilbers of Archer City; one
son, Jim of Archer City and five grandchildren.

Joe B. Gameson, 84, died Friday, December 20, 1991, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services were 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with Roger Deerinwater,

Aulds Funeral Home.
He was born August 15, 1907, in Chilton and moved to Archer City in 1927. He
and Ova Lee Wilson were married October 28, 1928 in Archer City. He was an
Army Air Force veteran of World War II, a member of First Baptist Church and
a 32nd degree Mason of the Archer Masonic Lodge. He worked as a barber,
taxidermist and park ranger. He had become known over the past 50 years as a
leathercrafter and sold his works thoughout the U.S. and Canada.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jo Ann Kirkland and Doris Geis,
both of Archer City; a son Lloyd of Lakewood, Colorado; two sisters, Lois
Downey of El Paso and May Rogers of Electra; nine grandchildren; and 12
great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Thelma Lee
Stubbs.

died August 17, 1968. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, an

Martin, Charlie Lee
Services for Charlie Lee Martin, 64, were 3 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church
with Roger Deerinwater, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Archer City Cemetery
under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home. He died Wednesday, January 15, 1992.
Mr. Martin was born March 16, 1927 in Arlington and was a lifetime resident
of Archer City. He and Glenda Nelson were married June 17, 1950 in Archer
City. He was an independent production consultant to the oil industry most
of his life. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a graduate of
Archer City High School and attended Texas A&M University. He was a veteran
of the Army during World War II. He was a member of Archer Masonic Lodge No.
708 AF&AM, where he served as secretary for over 25 years. He was a member
of Scottish Rite, the Mascat Temple, the American Legion Ira Jones Post No.
198 and the Elks Lodge. He was a former Archer City city councilman and had
served as mayor pro tem. He was a member of Archer City Volunteer First
Department and the Camp Fire Board of Directors.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Pam Surles of Longview and Cindy
Martin and Debie, both of Lubbock; a half-sister, Malena Gough of Abernathy;
his parents, John and Thelma Fish of Archer City; and a grandson.
Pallbearers were Floyd Hoggins, Leon Groves, Pat Brock, James Trent, Amos
Parsley, and Abb Berryman. Honorary pallbearers were members of Archer
Masonic Lodge #708 A.F. & A.M.

Shelton, Mrs. Joe E.
Mrs. Joe E. Shelton passed away Tuesday, January 14, 1992, in Dallas. Services
were held at First Baptist Church in Archer on Friday, January 17, at 1 p.m.
with her grandson, Joe Shelton Florence officiating.
Mrs. Shelton came from Chico to Archer City to teach school in 1917. She
married Joe E. Shelton on May 1, 1918. After the death of Mr. Shelton in an
automobile accident on May 30, 1954, Mrs. Shelton maintained the Shelton
Insurance Agency until 1978 when she sold it to Ed Trigg.
Mrs. Shelton was active in community affairs. She was an active member of
the First Baptist Church, a charter member of the Amity Club, a member of the
Delphian Club and Archer City Chamber of Commerce.
She maintained her residence in Archer City until 1984 when she went to
Dallas because of failing health. However, she continued to consider herself
a resident of Archer City because she loved the people of Archer City so much.
Rev. Joe Shelton Florence, in his eulogy to his grandmother, described her as
a woman of purpose, perseverance, perception and prayer.
Mrs. Shelton was preceded in death by her son, Joe E. Shelton, Jr. and her
granddaughter, Genotta Shelton Kourvelas.
She is survived by her daughter Mary Shelton Florence; three sisters, Lida
White of San Antonio, Leta Herron of Dallas and Virginia Piper of Fort Worth;
five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Ballowe, Robbie Rowe
Services for Robbie Rowe Ballowe, 75, were held Sunday, January 19, 1992, at
Aulds Funeral Home Chapel with Roger Deerinwater, pastor of First Baptist

She was born July 20, 1916 in Newcastle, Texas and died Monday, January 13,
1992, at her Archer City residence.
She is survived by one son, Frank Ballowe, of San Antonio, Texas.

Jentsch, Gerhardt Martin
Services for Gerhardt Martin Jentsch, 58, were 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul
Lutheran Church with the Rev. Thomas V. Handrick, pastor, officiating. Burial
was in Bowman Cemetery under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home. He
died Friday, January 17, 1992 in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Mr. Jentsch was born October 20, 1933 in Archer County and was a lifetime
resident of the Wichita Falls area. He retired in 1989 as a self-employed
farmer and rancher. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Texas Game
Warden Association, Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and
Archer County Farm Bureau, of which he was a past president. He and Betty Jo
Williamson were married March 11, 1954 in Archer County.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Carol Campbell of Archer City; two
sons, Welf of Austin and Gerald of Wichita Falls; two brothers, Alvin Jr. of
Wichita Falls and Herbert of Burkburnett; a sister, Margaret Maag of Archer
City; and three grandchildren.

Eastman, Bert
Services for Bert Eastman, 56, of Holliday were 1 p.m. Monday at First Baptist
Church of Holliday with the Rev. Randy Potter, pastor, and Gil Peters, minister
of Holliday Church of Christ, officiating. Burial was in Holliday Cemetery
under the direction of Hampton-Vaughan Funeral Home.
He died Friday, January 17, 1992 in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Mr. Eastman was born August 25, 1935 in Duxbury, Vermont and had lived in
Holliday since 1975. He was a retired senior master sergeant for the Air
Force, serving 28 years. He was a member of Holliday First Baptist Church,
where he was children's church director, deacon and youth director. He had
also been youth director at Western Hills Baptist Church. He had been
employed at Sheppard Air Force Base for CACI Field Services Inc. He was a
member of Holliday Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 120 and Disabled
American Veterans. He was president of Holliday Optimist Club.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby; a daughter, Michelle Swaggart of Holliday;
two sons, Michael of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Jeff of Wichita Falls;
five sisters, Marion Self of Northfield, Vermont, Phyllis Davis and Mae
Jennison both of Barre, Vermont, Mickie Elwell of Waitsfield, Vermont and
Bettye McNaulty of Waterbury, Vermont; two brothers, Robert of Atlantic City,
New Jersey and Howard of Holyoke, Massachusetts; and seven grandchildren.

Nix, Lonzo
Lonzo Nix, 67, died Sunday, April 3, in Bethania Hospital. Services were held
Tuesday, April 5, at Megargel Church of Christ with Harvey McQueen officiating
and Rex Shrum of Archer City Church of Christ assisting. Burial was in Megargel
Cemetery.
Mr. Nix was born Aug. 27, 1920 in Hico, Texas. He served in the Army Air Corp
in Europe during World War II. He was a retired farmer and a member of Megargel
Church of Christ.
He had lived in Archer City for two months and had previously resided in
Megargel since 1940.
Survivors include one brother, Albert C. Nix of Richland, Washington; three
sisters, Mrs. nadine Clanahan of Abilene, Mrs. Phebie Branch of Archer City, and
Mrs. Wanda Battey of Victoria, Texas; five nieces and two nephews.

Services for J.C. McCluer, 73 of Megargel, who died Tuesday, March 29 at his
home were held Thursday, March 31, at First United Methodist Church in Olney

McCluer was born April 21, 1914, in Archer County. He and Edna Hayter were
married Nov. 11, 1947, in Brownwood, Texas. He was a member of First United
Methodist Church in Olney, Unity Sunday School Class, and Veterans of Foreign
Wars. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of Farm
Bureau and had lived in Megargel since 1952.
Survivors include his wife; a step-son, Jack Alan Bush of Sweeny, Texas; a
brother, Zearl of Olney; three sisters, Ouida Mae Jackson of Olney and Willie
Johnston and Viola Gambrell both of Wichita Falls; four grandchildren; and a
great-grandchild.

Moyer, Nelda Irene
Nelda Irene Moyer, 81, of Holliday, Texas, died Saturday, March 19, in a Wichita
Falls nursing home. Services were held Monday, March 21, at Owens & Brumley
Funeral Home in Wichita Falls, with Gil Peters, minister of the Holliday Church
of Christ, officiating. Burial was in Crestview Memorial Park.
She was born May 5, 1906, in Comanche County, Texas. She was a member of the
Holliday Church of Christ and the Eastern Star. She was a homemaker. She had
lived in Holliday since 1930.
Survivors include a brother, Fred Bentley of Gainesville, Texas; two
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be made to the American Heart Association or the
American Cancer Society.

Emma M. Harris, 79, died Wednesday, March 16, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services were held Friday, March 18, at Aulds Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby

Mrs. Harris was born Jan. 31, 1908, in Montague County, Texas. She and Sam H.
Harris were married Sept. 23, 1928 in Montague County. Survivors include two
sons, Robert of Livingston, Texas and James of Archer City; one sister, Anna
Scheller of Archer City; four brothers, Oscar Scheller of Olton, Tx., Bill
Scheller of Drumright, Ok., Carl Scheller of Sherwood Shores, Tx., and George

Phillip Larry Martin, 44, was found dead at his home in Garland, Texas,
Thursday, March 17. Services were held Saturday, March 19, at Aulds Funeral

officiating. Burial was in Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds
Funeral Home.
Martin was born June 12, 1943, in Olney, Texas. He was an Air Force veteran and
a 1962 graduate of Archer City High School.

Martin of Garland; and three sisters, Charlotte Lee of Garland, Virginia Dwyer
of Holliday, and Margie Finnell of Plano.

Fair was born June 5, 1968 in Wichita Falls. She was a lifelong resident of
Holliday and a member of First Baptist Church. She had been employed as
assistant manager of Woolworth's in Fort Worth.

Davis of Oklahoma; two sisters, Cindy Davis of Wichita Falls and Jamie Parker

Hoover, Jason Ray
Jason Ray Hoover, 12, of Holliday, Texas, died Sunday, March 26, after a boating
accident at Lake Wichita. Wake services were held Tuesday night at Faith
Tabernacle Church in Holliday with Rev. Lonnie Stewart officiating. Funeral
services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Holliday High School Auditorium
with interment in the Holliday Cemetery.
Hoover was born June 3, 1975 in Wichita Falls. He was a student and had lived
in Holliday since 1979. Survivors include his father and step-mother, Clarence
and Brenda Hoover of Holliday; his mother Darlene Goforth Wilson of Wichita
Falls; a brother, Gerald Wayne of Holliday; grandparents, Clarence Hoover, Sr.
of Holliday and Mr. and Mrs. O.L. Goforth of Wichita Falls; and great-
grandmother, Mrs. Mike Hartmangruber of Iowa Park.

Thomas, Minnie Ola
Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Ola Thomas, 87, of Holliday, were held Monday
in Owens & Brumley Funeral Chapel with Rev. Larry Davis, pastor of the Holliday
United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in the Dundee Cemetery.
Mrs. Thomas died Saturday in a Wichita Falls hospital. She was born Minnie Ola
Boyd in Vernon on Dec. 3, 1899. She married Edgar Thomas at Dundee on March 14,
1921. For many years, they made their home in the Blackflat Community where he
was a rancher, before moving to Holliday. He was elected Commissioner for
Precinct #1, Archer County in 1954 and died April 19, 1956. Mrs. Thomas
completed his term in office. She was a member of the Eastern Star and of the
United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Joyce Sanderson and Mrs. Patsy Rowell,
both of Holliday; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Mike Birdwell, Kenneth Williams, Leo Gilmore, Tommy Mankins,
Bud Boniol and Homer Fields.

Ray, Wayne Bacon
Services for Wayne Bacon Ray, 85, of Archer City, were held Sunday in First
Baptist Church, Archer City, with Rev. Bobby King, pastor of Faith Memorial
Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in the Archer City Cemetery under the
direction of Aulds Funeral Home. Mr. Ray died Friday in the Archer County
Hospital.
He was born Aug. 26, 1902 in Bell County and came to Archer City in 1918. He
married Flossie Petit on July 31, 1927 in Belton. He was a lifetime rancher and
a founding member of the Archer County Rodeo Assn. and served on the board of
the Little Wichita Soil Conservation District. He received the Outstanding Soil
Conservation Award. In 1957, and again in 1959, he received the Bridwell Soil
Builders Native Pasture Improvement Award.
Survivors include his wife, Flossie of Archer City; two daughters, Robbie Lee
Gage of Archer City and Billie Jean Rodriguez of Albany; a sister, Mrs. Beatrice
West of Canton; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Mike Mooney, Carl Beall, Danny Powell, Wayland Abshire, Luke
Kirkland, Billy Chambles, Lynn Lewis and Carl Akers.
The family suggested that memorials be made tot he Archer County Hospital Fund,

Kent, Leola Warnick
Leola Warnick Kent, 84, of Holliday, Texas, died Monday, May 30, 1988 in a
Wichita Falls hospital. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday (today) in
First Baptist Church of Holliday. Burial will be in Holliday Cemetery under the
direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Kent was born in 1903 in Hood County and married B.J. Kent in Cleburne on
November 15, 1924. They came to Archer County in 1925. They lived in and near
Kamay and Geraldine until his retirement when they moved to Holliday. Survivors
are one son Carl Ray Kent of Iowa Park and two daughters, Joy Marie Morrison of
Holliday and Bernice Bessire of Bridgeport, 11 grandchildren , 26 great-
grandchildren.

Rozella Williams, 69, died Monday, January 20, 1992, in a Wichita Falls

Archer City, officiating. Burial was in Clearview Cemetery in Ardmore under

She was born August 12, 1922 in Ardmore and had lived in Archer City since
1946. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Cornelius Loftis of Ardmore; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Jake Hoepfner, 92, died Thursday, January 23, 1992, in a Wichita Falls nursing
home. A Christian wake was 7 p.m. Friday at Hampton-Vaughan Funeral Home.
Services were 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev.
Ivor Koch, pastor, officiating. Burial was in St. Boniface Cemetery in
Scotland.
He was born December 31, 1899 in Racine, Wisconsin. He retired after 39
years from Fain-McGaha Oil Co. then from Barley Supply Co. He and Mildren
Meurer were married September 2, 1931 at St. Boniface church in Scotland. He
was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kenneth of Scotland and Don of
Thornton, Colorado; a sister, Lydia Richardson of Wichita Falls; three
brothers, Joe of San Bernardino, California, Pete of Oklahoma City and Adolph
of Anchorage, Alaska; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Bell, Isabelle
Isabelle Bell, 86, died Friday, January 24, 1992, in an Archer City nursing
home. Services were 10:30 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church with the
Rev. Wally Williams, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Archer City Cemetery
under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bell was born February 3, 1905 in Hill County. She moved to Archer
County in 1914. She and Duren Bell were married on October 8, 1927 in Archer
City. He died February 15, 1965. She was a descendant of an Archer City
pioneer family. She was a member for more than 74 years of First United
Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was also a
former member of the Archer City Eastern Star.
Survivors include a son, John W. of Archer City; five sisters, Edna Shawver,
Myrtle Hodge, Ova Lee Gameson, Vivian Campbell and Evelyn Rutherford, all of
Archer City; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by one son, Eugene Bell, on October 5, 1965.

Mrs. Blackman was born January 28, 1912 in Archer County. She was a teacher
and a member of Lamar Baptist Church.

grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Ray C. Singleton, 88, died Friday, February 7, 1992 in an Archer City nursing
home. Services were 2 p.m. Monday at Aulds Funeral Home with Roger Deerinwater,

He was born July 2, 1903 in Coppell and had been a resident of Archer City
since 1954.
Survivors include three sisters, Thyra Robertson of Archer City, Ida Mae
Voyles of Antelope, and Iva Jewell Kirkland of Irving; and several nieces and
nephews.
Pallbearers were Teddy Robertson, Tommy Robertson, David Robertson, Herman

John H. Boydston, 79, died Tuesday, February 4, 1992, in a Bowie hospital.
Services were 2 p.m. Thursday at Burgess-Fry Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Cox,
pastor of First Free Will Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Elmwood
Cemetery.
Mr. Boydston was born May 3, 1912 in Decatur and lived in Bowie for 60 years,
moving to Archer City two years ago. He was a retired carpenter and a member of
the First Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include three sons, Jack of Mesquite, Ollie Douglas of Wichita
Falls, and John Edwin of Denver; a brother, Glen of Apache Junction, Arizona;
four sisters, Mae Fralin of Denton, Irene Terrell of Hawley, and Delma and
Zelma Shrunk both of Knox City; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

stocker for Wal-Mart.
Survivors include a daughter, Lois Jean Hunt Licata of Ocean City, New
Jersey; two sons, James Hunt and Dwayne Jackson, both of Holliday; her
stepfather, Robert Lee Curlee Sr. of Bryan; two bothers, George Wolf of
Pasadena and Robert Lee Curlee Jr., of Martinez, California; a sister, Olive
Anne Poteet Blum of College Station and four grandchildren.

August B. Smith, 88, died Thursday, March 26, 1992, in an Archer City nursing

Mr. Smith was born March 20, 1904 in Bryson and had lived in Archer City
since 1925. He and Nola Harris were married June 4, 1927 in Archer City.
She died July 24, 1977. He was a member of the Archer City Church of Christ
and a retired oil field worker and farmer. His son, Leory, died June 12,
1975.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Lou Buckley of Archer City and Patsy
Bates of Wichita Falls; two sons, J.B. of Denton and Odell of Graham; a
brother, Joe F. of Farmington, New Mexico; 14 grandchildren; six

Slack, Margaret Ellen
Margaret Ellen Gowdy Slack, 78, died Tuesday, June 30, 1992, at her home in
Archer City. Services were 2 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church
with the Rev. Wally Williams, pastor, and the Rev. John Taylor of the First
United Methodist Church in Decatur, officiating. Poetry readings were by Larry
McMurtry from "The Best of Me" by Margaret Ellen. Burial was under the

Mrs. Slack was born January 17, 1914 in Jacksboro to James Alfred and Mary
Ellen Gowdy and moved to Archer City at the age of 3. She and Joe D. Slack
were married September 15, 1934 in Archer City and recently celebrated their
58th anniversary. She was a well-known artist and poet and was also a
homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Poetry Society
of Texas and National Federation of State Poetry Societies both of which had
awarded her numerous state and national awards. In 1986, she was elected to
the Women's Hall of Fame of North Texas for her outstanding creative arts
talents. She was the author of the "Best of Me," a collection of poetry
published by Mill Pond Press of New York. Her paintings have also won dozens
of state and regional awards. She was a graduate of the University of Texas
and a teacher, philanthropist and civic workers. For nine years, she served
as deputy county clerk of the Archer County courts. She was active in
cultural organizations in Archer City and Wichita Falls.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Ceil Margaret Cleveland of Long
Island, New York and Mary Ellen Webb of Bowie; two sons, J.D. Jr. of Red
Lodge, Montana and Joe Gowdy of Wichita Falls; a sister, Mary Lois Ledbetter
of Morton; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jet Webb, Jack Slack, Shea Slack, Wendy Gentile, Josie Webb,
Johnny Webb, Timothy Owen, James Waldrip and Joe Gowdy Slack, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were Sue Deen, Larry McMurtry, Judy McLemore and Charles
Ledbetter.

Hoover, Clarence, Jr.
A wake for the Rev. Clarence Hoover, Jr., 41, of Holliday, was 7:30 p.m. Friday
at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home. Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at Maurine
Street Church of God with the Rev. William Carnley, pastor and the Rev. Tom
Fisher of Roff Pentecostal Church officiating. Burial was in Holliday Cemetery.
He died Wednesday, July 22, 1992, in Holliday.
He was born August 20, 1950, in Wichita Falls and had lived in Holliday for
15 years. He was a minister and an evangelist.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda; a son, Gerald of Wichita Falls; two
brothers, Boyle of Trona, California and Elvin of Arlington; his father,
Clarence Sr. of Holliday; and a grandchild.

Hodgkins, Ed
Services for Ed Hodgkins, 77, of Holliday, was 10 a.m. Saturday at Owens &
Brumley Funeral Home with the Rev. John Hare, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church,
officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery in Iowa Park.
He died Wednesday, July 29, 1992 in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Mr. Hodgkins was born November 22, 1914 in Palo Pinto County and had lived in
Holliday for five years. He previously lived in Wichita Falls for 51 years.
He was a retired rancher and farmer. He was a member of Calvary Baptist
Church.
Survivors include his wife, Virla; two daughters, Edwina Sumrall of Holliday
and Carolyn Morgan of Wichita Falls; two sons, Danny and John, both of
Wichita Falls; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Goforth, Scottie
Scottie Goforth, 41 of Archer City died Monday, August 17, 1992. Services were
Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Archer City with pastor, Roger Deerinwater,
officiating. Burial was in Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds
Funeral Home.
Goforth was born June 23, 1951 in Archer City, where he was a lifetime
resident. He was a graduate of Archer City High School. Before working for
Archer County, he was employed by Burns Petroleum. He was a member of First
Baptist Church and American Legion Ira Jones Post No. 198 where he served as
post adjutant.
Pallbearers were Danny Ham, Dale Murphy, Jr., Gary Murphy, Hal Bobbitt, Mike
Cameron and Duward Stone.
Survivors include a daughter, Trish of Archer City; his mother; Lorine
Goforth Case of Archer City; and a sister, Elaine Abshier of Archer City.

Hornady, Joyce Prideaux
Joyce Prideaux Hornady, 61, died Friday, August 14, 1992, from injuries received
in a car accident Friday. Services were 2 p.m. Sunday at Aulds Funeral Home with
the Rev. Wally Williams, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial was in Archer City Cemetery.
Mrs. Hornady was born October 7, 1930 in Wichita Falls and lived in Archer
County most of her life. She was the daughter of George Dewey Prideaux and
Bess Drummond. She and Don Hornady were married August 9, 1952 in Archer
City. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and a home economics
teacher at Archer City High School for more than 18 years.
Pallbearers were Don Rux, John Bell, Jimmy Powell, Arch Andrews, Mike Mooney,
Jr., and Charles Schroeder.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Cyd Salim of Borger and Lea
Walker of Livingtston; and four grandsons, Matthew, Daniel, Stephen Salim and
Cory Walker.

Kestler, David Dons, Sr.
Services for David Don Kestler, Sr., 63, of Holliday, were 10 a.m. Friday at
First United Pentecostal Church at Electra with the Rev. Troy Talley, pastor,
officiating. Burial was in Bowman Community Cemetery under the direction of
Dutton Funeral Home.
He died Monday, August 10, 1992, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Mr. Kestler was born June 19, 1929 in Wichita Falls. He had lived in Holliday
for eight years. He retired as a self-employed paint contractor in 1980. He
was a member of First United Pentecostal Church of Electra. He and Maxine
Kestler were married on June 4, 1950 in Henrietta. She died December 20, 1974.
He and Doris Ann Smith were married April 8, 1984 in Wichita Falls.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, David and Adie James, both of Wichita
Falls; a stepson Ralph C. Smith of Dallas; a stepdaughter, Rebecca Ann Warren
of Wichita, Kansas; two sisters, Pebble Dulin of Wichita Falls and Melba Hill
of Mesquite; two brothers, Robert of Holliday and Clyde of Scotland; and nine
grandchildren.

Robert Ray "Bob" Prevost, 54, of Windthorst died Sunday, August 23, 1992.
Services were 2 p.m. Wednesday at Coker Funeral Home with the Rev. Will Aston

He was born September 10, 1937 in Calgary, Canada. He and Rosa Baggett were
married October 7, 1986 in Nevada. He was retired from the real estate
profession.

Tucson, Arizona and Tiffany of Texas; three sons, Randy and Bob of Calgary
and Rick of Aldergrove, Canada; four sisters, Joan Snyder, Gina Tymkow,

Nell K. Brewer, 91, died Friday, November 12, 1993, in an Olney hospital.
Services were 10 a.m. Monday at Aulds Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Lugn,
pastor of First Christian Church, officiating. Burial was in Archer City
Cemetery.
Mrs. Brewer was born April 22, 1902 in Archer County where she was a lifetime
resident. She and B.L. "Boots" Brewer were married December 18, 1937 in
Walters, Oklahoma. He died August 17, 1987. She was a member of First
Christian Church. She had been a member of the Archer City and Olney Rebekah
Lodge for more than 40 years.
Pallbearers were J.B. Berend, Todd Clayton, Stuart Berend, Doug Stanford,
Mark Stanford and Steve Stanford. Honorary pallbearers were Charles
McDaniel, G.M. (Spec) Strawn, D.E. Bratt, Bud Scott, Judd Gray and Danny

Johnny W. Townsend, 50, of Holliday, died Monday, November 11, 1992, in a
Seymour hospital. Services were 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Luke Lutheran Church with

Mr. Townsend was born September 10, 1943 in Graham. He had lived in Holliday
since 1988. He was an oilfield worker.

John A. Killian, 96, died Wednesday, November 17, 1993, in Hobbs, New Mexico.
Services were 2 p.m. Thursday at Holliday First United Methodist Church with
the Rev. Bill LaBarr, pastor, officiating. Burial with Masonic graveside
rites was in Holliday Cemetery under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral
Home.
Mr. Killian was born November 11, 1897 in Newport. He was a longtime Holliday
resident before moving to Hobbs three years ago. He was a member of First
United Methodist Church of Holliday and a 60-year member of Mason Dundee Lodge
No. 994. He was a retired oil producer.
Survivors include a son, John of Hobbs; two granddaughters; and three
great-grandsons.

Hudgeons, Bertie
Bertie Newsom Hudgeons, 85, of Lubbock died Wednesday, November 17, 1993, in
Lubbock. Services were Friday at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home with Darrel
McWhorter, minister of Gatesville Church of Christ, and the Rev. Jack Dial,
minister of Evangel Temple Assembly of God, officiating. Burial was in Restland
Cemetery in Olney.
Mrs. Hudgeons was born January 3, 1908 in Megargel. She was a homemaker and
a member of Evangel Temple Assembly of God and Eastern Star. She was a
former resident of Wichita Falls, Archer City and Lake Kickapoo before moving
to Lubbock in 1991. She and R.A. Newsom were married November 18, 1928 in
Olney. He died May 8, 1973. She and Cecil Hudgeons were married in January
1991 in Wichita Falls.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Billie Tims of Wichita Falls
and Jimmie Phillips of Archer City; three stepsons, Fred and Paul, both of
Lake City, Colorado, and Jerry of Midland; a sister, Georgia Owens of
Mesquite; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a
great-great-grandchild; and several step-grandchildren.

Oza Ray Mills, 62, died Monday, December 6, 1993, in an Olney hospital. Services
were 2 p.m. Wednesday at Aulds Funeral Home in Archer City with the Rev. Allen

was in Archer City Cemetery.
Mr. Mills was born December 14, 1930 in Oklaunion. He and Loyce Burnes were
married in June, 1986 in Olney. He is a former Archer City resident and had
lived in Olney since 1986. He was a retired oil field worker and a former
member of Ira Jones Post No. 198 of the American Legion in Archer City. He
was preceded in death by a brother, Bob, April 23, 1991.
Pallbearers were Larry Denney, Mike Fuller, Randy Fuller, Rick Fuller, Steve
Mills, Glenn Mills, and Kurt Berryman.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, David A. and Raymond M., both of

Mrs. Akers was born March 18, 1903 in Hustudel community near Eliasville.
She and Herschel Floyd Akers were married December 11, 1923 in Eliasville.

Joe D. Wood, 61, died Friday, December 13, 1993 in a San Antonio hospital.
Graveside services were 10 a.m. Tuesday in Archer City Cemetery with the Rev.

Arrangements were under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Mr. Wood was born July 25, 1932 in Archer City. He was a graduate of Archer
City High School. He attended Midwestern State University before being
called into the reserves. He made his career in the Navy with more than 30
years of service. He retired in 1986 as a master chief petty officer. He
served as an auxiliary policeman with the Virginia Beach, Virginia, Police
Department while he was stationed at Norfolk, Virginia. He was a Catholic.
He and Marian F. Coyle were married January 2, 1954 in San Diego.
Survivors include his wife; six daughters, Sharon Dey and Laurie, both of
Archer City, Beverly Fisher of San Diego, Pamela Farinas and Judy, both of
Virginia Beach and Cheryl Swartz of Harrisonburg, Virginia; three sons, Paul
of San Diego and Bruce and Curt, both of Virginia; three brothers, Hal of
Cement, Oklahoma, Max "Boe" of Archer City and Ardie of Scotland; and nine
grandchildren.

Mrs. Wilson was born in Erath County and was a resident of Fort Worth for 30
years. She worked as a Nurse, and was a member of the First Baptist Church
of Archer City.

Mary Alma Wilson, 87, died Tuesday, August 16, 1994, in a Graham hospital.
Services were at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 18th, at Morrison Funeral Home with
the Rev. Hubert Foust, of Mineral Wells, officiating. Burial was in Pioneer
Cemetery.
Mrs. Wilson was born September 29, 1906, in Dundee. She moved to Graham 46
years ago from Archer City. She and John T. "Knothole" Wilson were married
September 23, 1928, in Seymour. He died April 4, 1992. She was a co-owner
and bookkeeper for Wilson Lumber company for 34 years. She was a member of
First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Gettys Jo Wolfe, of Graham; a son, Bobby, of
Graham; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Mary Shannon Lindemann, 28, died Thursday, August 25, 1994, in Wichita Falls.

the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.
Ms. Lindemann was born August 13, 1966, in Wichita Falls. She was a lifetime
resident of the Wichita Falls area. She was a graduate of Windthorst High
School, and Midwestern State University School of Nursing. She was a
Registered Nurse.
Pallbearers were Shannon's nephews, Shane Lindemann, Douglas Lindemann, Corey
Lindemann, Casey Lindemann, Jamie Wilde, and Jonathan Wilde.

Richard Lawrence "Jiggs" Lyles, 67, of Holliday, died Monday, August 29, 1994,
in a Wichita Falls nursing home. Graveside services were at 10:00 a.m.,
Wednesday, August 31, 1994, in Dundee Cemetery, with Gil Peters, minister of
Holliday Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of

Mr. Lyles was born September 22, 1926, in Cooke County. He was a member of
the Baptist Church in Midland; and was a Masonry Contractor for more than 30
years. He had lived in Holliday since 1968.

Graham, and John Harrigal.
Survivors include three sons, Billy of Florida, John O., of Cyril, Oklahoma,

Tony Shawver, 54, of Munday formerly of Megargel, died Friday, January 28, 1994,
in Megargel. Services were 2 p.m. Sunday at Megargel Baptist Church with the

Church of Breckenridge, officiating. Burial was in Megargel Cemetery under the

Mr. Shawver was born July 25, 1935 in Megargel. He was a graduate of Megargel
High School and Texas Tech University. He and Branda Harmel were married April
4, 1958 in Olney. He was a farmer and welder. He served in the Army from 1958
to 1960. He was a member of the Munday Volunteer Fire Association and the First
Baptist Church of Munday. He moved to Munday from Megargel in 1968.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Carey of Megargel; a daughter, Joy Ball of
Breckenridge; a sister, Sue Sharpley of Corsicana; his stepmother, Neta of Iowa
Park; and three grandchildren.

Emil L. Pechacek, 95, died Sunday, February 6, 1994, in an Olney hospital.

Mr. Pechacek was born October 16, 1898 in Shiner. He was a longtime Megargel
resident. He was a farmer and rancher and member of the Knights of Columbus for
57 years and of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He married Margaret Mary Kovar
April 19, 1927 in Megargel. She died April 14, 1959.
Survivors include three sons, Ed and John, both of Megargel and Jim of Las
Vegas; a sister, Louise Churchill of Mercedes; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-

Mary F. Wolf, 85, of Windthorst, died Wednesday, April 15, 1992, in a Wichita
Falls hospital. Services were held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic

was in St. Mary's Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer

Jimmie Blair, 75, of Holliday died Tuesday, February 15, 1994, in a Wichita

Mr. Blair was born November 15, 1918 in Lipan. He lived in Wichita Falls area
for 50 years. He was a cowboy. He and Lois Fry were married January 22, 1973.

Las Vegas, Nevada; three sisters, Bertie Beekman of Archer City, Edith Anderson

Mr. Snodgrass was born November 7, 1910 in Byers. He was a lifetime Wichita

Mr. Fisher was born August 25, 1929 in Colorado City. He graduated from
Colorado City High School in 1946 and from Sul Ross State University in Alpine
in 1959 with a masters degree in education. He had served two years as a
corporal in the U.S. army in the Korean Conflict. Upon completion of his two-
year term, he moved to Archer City and taught school at Archer City Independent
School District until his retirement in May 1987. He also served as a school
bus driver and timekeeper at local basketball games. A rancher throughout most
of his life, he also served as a deputy for the Archer County Sheriff's
Department and was currently a reserve deputy. He was a member of the Archer
Masonic Lodge #708 and had served as past Worshipful Master. He was a member of
First United Methodist Church where he was a former mermber of the board of
trustees. He was a current board member of the Archer Housing Authority.
Pallbearers were Charlie King, Bill Crow, Howard Barton, Jack Strain, Ross
Strain, Jim Powell, Kenneth Culwell, and Jim Ashton.
Survivors include one sister, Jane Murray of Andrews; one brother, Danny Fisher
of Houston; one niece and two nephews.

Adams, Genevieve
Genevieve "Ginny" Harmon Adams, 83, died Friday, February 25, 1994, in a Wichita
Falls nursing home. Services were 2 p.m. Sunday at Holliday Church of Christ
with Gil Peters officiating. Burial was in Holliday Cemetery under the
direction of Owens and Brumley Funeral home.
Mrs. Adams was born March 4, 1910 in Elmore City, Oklahoma. She was a graduate
of Elmore City High School. She had attended Abilene Christian College and
University of Oklahoma. She served as secretary for Holliday school
superintendent W.S. Thomas for several years before joining the U.S.Post Office
in 1947. She was appointed postmaster in Holliday in 1971. She retired in
1978. She and Leland C. Adams were married December 29, 1933 in Duncan,
Oklahoma. They moved to Holliday in 1936. He died May 19, 1988. She was a
member of National League of Postmasters. She was also a member of Holliday
Church of Christ where she was a Bible class teacher and had helped her husband
as church treasurer and elder.
Survivors include a son, Harold of Nederland; a brother, Harold Harmon of
Denison; four sisters, Rosemond Kitchens of Mineola,Larry Thompson of Rochester,
New York, Chole Zophy of Sherrill, New York, and Zephyrhills, Florida and Urchic
Wales of Radnor, Pennsylvania; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Hilbers, Evelyn
Evelyn Hilbers, 76, of Archer City, died Friday, February 25, 1994, in an Olney
hospital. Services were 2 p.m. Sunday at Lunn Funeral Home of Olney with Roger
Deerinwater, pastor of First Baptist Church of Archer City, officiating. Burial
was in Restland Cemetery.
Mrs. Hilbers was born August 16, 1917 in Archer County. She and Bennie Hilbers
were married October 13, 1937 in Wink. He died July 1, 1960. She was a
homemaker and former employee of Hamilton Hospital in Olney and Archer County
Hospital. She was a Baptist. She had lived in the Olney area until 1969 when
she moved to Archer City.
Survivors include a daughter, Bennie Jo Hutson of Archer City; a son, Charles of
Archer City; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Memorials may be
made to the American Cancer Society or Olney Cemetery Association.

Hammontree, Donna
Donna Jean Hammontree, 40, died Saturday, March 12, 1994, at a Dallas hospital.
Services were 2 p.m. Monday at the Archer City Church of Christ with Barry
Wiseman, minister, and Roger Deerinwater, pastor of First Baptist Church,
officiating. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery in Seymour under the direction of
Aulds Funeral home.
Ms. Hammontree was born September 28, 1953 in Olney. She had been a resident of
Archer City since 1956. She was a member of the Church of Christ where she had
published the weekly bulletin and the monthly newsletter. She graduated from
Archer City High School in 1972, where she was active in band all four years and
elected band sweetheart. She was a member of the library club and Future
Homemakers of America, where she served as an officer and elected Who's Who in
Home Economics. She was elected Citizen of the Month her freshman year and girl
of the month her sophomore year. She had been employed as a secretary and
bookkeeper of Jansen Well Service in Archer City and Forget-Me-Not Florist in
Wichita Falls since 1981.
Her father, H.W. "Pete" Hammontree died October 8, 1977. Her brother, David
Wesley Hammontree, died December 10, 1945.
Pallbearers were Bill Jansen, John Starkey, Doug Fox, Keith Fox, Wayne Cox, J.C.
Whisnand and Steve Borgman.
Survivors include her mother, Christine Hammontree of Archer City; a brother,
Bobby of Gorman; and one nephew, Shane Hammontree of Germany.

Mathis, Mildred
Mildred Campbell Mathis, 60, died Thursday, March 10, 1994, in a Wichita Falls
hospital. Services were 2 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church with the
Rev. Willie Johnson, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Archer City Cemetery
under the direction of Aulds Funeral home.
Mrs. Mathis was born November 21, 1933 in Archer City. She was a member of
First United Methodist Church, where she was church secretary for more than 10
years. She also served on numerous committees in the church. She was a member
of the United Methodist Women and past president. She was vice-president and
program director for the Archer City chapter of the American Association of
Retired Persons and also a former president in the AARP chapter. She was a
founding member and distribution director for Archer County Food Bank. She was
past chairman of the Archer City chapter of the American Red Cross Blood Bank.
She served on the board of directors of the Archer City Cemetery Association and
the Pleasant Valley Cemetery Association in Clay County. She had also served as
secretary of the Archer City Cemetery Association for more than eight years.
She was a former election judge in Archer County.
Pallbearers were DeWayne Whitsitt, Dan Cherry, M.E.Campbell, Don Campbell, Dayne
Campbell, and Lee Wayne Jones.
Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Anne Mathis of Wichita Falls and Angenel
H. Walling of Archer City; her father and stepmother, George and Thelma Campbell
of Archer City; two sisters, Glenna Cherry of Cibolo and Phyllis Whitsitt of
Olney; a step sister, Deanna Bernhardt of Henrietta; a step-brother, Eddie
McGowen of Joy; and five grandchildren.

Akers, Herschel
Herschel Floyd Akers, 93, of Archer City died Tuesday, March 10, 1994 in and
Olney hospital. Services were 2 p.m. Saturday at Morrison Funeral home in
Graham with the Rev. Don Russell, pastor of Remington Street Church of God in
Graham, officiating. Burial was in Murray Cemetery.
Mr. Akers was born November 26, 1900 in Eliasville in Young County. He moved to
Archer City eight years ago from Eliasville. He and Cecil Lillie Reger were
married December 11, 1923 in Eliasville. She died in 1993. He was a retired
pumper for Gulf Oil Co. and a member of Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include four sons, Floyd W. of Tye, Fred N. of Eliasville, Carl E. of
Archer City and Clyde W. of Fort Worth; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-
grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Eubanks, W.B.
W.B. "Bill" Eubanks, 65, died Saturday, March 19, 1994, in a San Antonio
hospital. Services were 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with the Rev.
Roger Deerinwater, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Archer City Cemetery
under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Mr. Eubanks was born October 29, 1928 in Mobeetie. He moved to Archer City in
1993. He and Jo Green married November 23, 1946 in Seymour. He worked in the
sales department of Taylor foundry in Wichita Falls and spent 30 years in the
trucking and agricultural industries. He was a member of the First Baptist
Church and the Archer City Country Club. He was a past member of the Lions Club,
a Boy Scout leader in Wichita Falls, and a former advisor to a diesel mechanic
school in Wichita Falls.
Pallbearers were Mark Green, Mitch Green, Allen Davis, Vernon Geis, John Cox,
Mark Tucker and Bobby Green.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Rick of Englewood, Colorado and Rusty of
Kirkland, Washington; a daughter, Suzan of Archer City; his father, C.E.
Wheeler; a brother, Floyd of Hereford; and eight grandchildren.

Cathey, Pat
Pat Cathey, 71, of Windthorst, died Wednesday, March 16, 1994, in a Wichita
Falls hospital. Services were 2 p.m. Saturday at Coker Funeral Home with the
Rev. Duane Perkinson, pastor of First Baptist Church of Jacksboro, officiating.
Burial was in Antelope Cemetery.
Mr. Cathey was born January 3, 1923 in Bristow, Oklahoma. He and Garnett Barry
were married January 22, 1949 in Jacksboro. She died in November 1991. He was
a Baptist and heavy equipment owner and operator. He was a member of Veterans
of Foreign Wars Post No. 8914 in Jacksboro. He was a World War II veteran of
the Army Air Forces. He served in New Guinea, Southern Philippines and Luzon.
He was a former owner of a club in Wichita Falls for five years.
Survivors include two brothers, Glen of Norwalk, California and Larry Gobble of
Muenster; and his mother, Leona Gobble of Muenster.

Simek, Lillian
Lillilan Simek, 88, died Saturday, March 5, 1994, in an Olney hospital.
Services were 2 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Megargel with the
Rev. Bart J. Landwermeyer, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Megargel
Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home.
She was born September 18, 1905 in Praha. She and John Henry Simek were married
on September 21, 1927 in Megargel. He died on September 12, 1969. She was a
homemaker and a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Olney. She was a
member of the Women's Auxiliary there. She had been a resident of Olney since
1967. Before that, she had lived in Megargel.
Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Matus of Megargel; a brother, Jim Brom of
Megargel; a sister, Agnes Hrncirik of Seymour; seven grandchildren; and 15
great-grandchildren.

Lois Mae Blair, 72, of Holliday, died Tuesday, January 18, 1994, in a Wichita
Falls hospital. Graveside services were 2 p.m. Friday in Antelope Cemetery with

Mrs. Blair was born January 25, 1921 in Shannon. She was a lifetime resident of

H. B. Kirkland, 94, died Sunday, January 23, 1994, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services were 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church with Roger Deerinwater,

Aulds Funeral Home.
Mr. Kirkland was born November 18, 1899 in Plano. He and Lillie Mae Breedding
were married March 2, 1921 in Idabel, Oklahoma. He moved to Archer City in
October 1970 from Wichita Falls. He retired in 1965 from the Texas Highway
Department as a mechanic. He was a former member of Woodmen of the World and
the International Order of Odd Fellows. He attended Faith Memorial Baptist
Church in Archer City. His daughter, Nellie Logsdon, died January 16, 1990.
Pallbearers were Gary McIntosh, Jeff Jackson, Mike Jackson, Jason Newton, Kelly
Kennedy and Eric Rodgers.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Helen Jackson of Levelland and Lena

Billy Joe Seale, 65, of Holliday died Saturday, August 7, 1993, at his home.

He was born February 1, 1928 in Dodd City and moved to Holliday in 1988. He was
a gasoline operator for El Paso Natural Gas Co. for 36 years.

Sugarland and Betty Jean Joiner of Abilene; a sister, Peggy Peterson of Electra;

King, Bennie P.
Bennie P. King, 89, of 4411 S. Henry Grace Freeway in Wichita Falls died
Tuesday, August 8th in a Wichita Falls nursing home. Graveside services were
held last Thursday in Archer City Cemetery with the Rev. Willie Johnson, pastor
of First United Methodist Church of Archer City, officiating. Arrangements were
under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Mrs. King is survived by her son, Wayne, Jr. of Wichita Falls; five
grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Wayne Sr. and a daughter, Patsy Ballard. Mrs. King resided at Grace
Park Manor until her death.

Coleman, Dick
Dick Coleman, 72, died Sunday, August 1, 1993, at his home on the Coleman Ranch
in northern Archer County. Services were 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist
Church with Roger Deerinwater, pastor, officiating. Entombment was at Crestview
Memorial Park under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Mr. Coleman was born November 17, 1920 in Wichita County. He moved to northern
Archer County as a very small child and had lived on the family ranch his entire
life. He and Rena Williams were married May 28, 1942 in Walters, Oklahoma. He
was a member of the First Baptist Church where he served on the building
committee many years ago. He served on the board of trustees for the Archer
City Independent School District. He was a member of the Texas and Southwestern
Cattle Raisers Association and was involved in the cattle business his entire
life.
He was a life member of the American Quarter Horse Association and raised
quarter horses for many years. He served as an Archer County Commissioner for
precinct 1 for 12 years. He was instrumental in the organization and
development of the Archer County Hospital. He was a founding member and past
president of the Archer City Rodeo Association and a past president of the
Wichita Falls Camp Fire Council. He was also a former Boy Scout leader in
Archer City and past president of the Wichita Falls Chapter of the Texas Public
Employees Association while employed at the Wichita Falls State Hospital. He
was a current member of the Texas Farm Bureau, the Lake Arrowhead Association
and Ira Jones Post 198 of the American Legion of Archer City. He was an army
veteran of World War II serving in India.
The son of Dickey and Jewell Evans Coleman, he was a descendant of an Archer
County pioneering family that settled in northern Archer County in the early
1880s. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Jo, on February 2, 1944,
his son Les on September 28, 1961 and a brother Carl Hargis who was killed
during action in World War II in Italy in June 5, 1944. Survivors include his
wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Jim and Mavis Jennings of Amarillo; and a
granddaughter, Jill Jennings of Amarillo.
Pallbearers were Mike Stewart, Ronnie Benton, Lynn Lewis, John Hampton, Kerry
Bowen, and Stephen Huffman.

Holt, Katherine
Katherine Myers Holt, 72, of Scotland, died Sunday, August 1, 1993, in
Minneapolis, Minnesota. Services were 10 a.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Funeral
Home in Lubbock. Burial was in Resthaven Memorial Park.
She was born November 1, 1920 in Indianhoma, Oklahoma and moved to the
Littlefield-Lubbock area in 1944. She moved to Scotland in 1989. Her husband
Don died in 1990. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church of
Lubbock and retired in 1985 from a position with the Girl Scouts of Lubbock.
Survivors include two sons, Frank Johnson of Wichita Falls and Jim Johnson of
Lubbock; a daughter, Naoma Sue Fruth of Anoka, Minnesota; a sister, Wauldene
McKinney of Littlefield; a brother, Harold Myers of Harlingen; five
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Durward Allen Bloodworth, Jr., 48, of Holliday died Tuesday, June 24, 1993 in
Houston. Services were at Gish Memorial Chapel in Frederick with the Rev. John
D. Alexander officiating. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery in southeast Manitou,
Oklahoma, under the direction of Gish Funeral Home.
Mr. Bloodworth was born April 7, 1945 in Corpus Christi. He and Sharon Goodner
married May 12, 1984 in Henrietta. He was a former Manitou and Henrietta
resident. He worked as a street supervisor for the city of Wichita Falls and as
an auctioneer. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the Navy, and was a 32nd
degree Mason. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Rodney Goodner and Greg, both of Wichita
Falls, Michael and James, both of Waco, and Monte Goodner of Jacksonville,
Florida; a daughter, Mandy Brandenburg of Grandfalls; his father, Durward Allen

Florida and Mark of Henrietta; two sisters, Cynthia Ross of Little River and

Mrs. Schroeder was born October 9, 1931 in Windthorst and was a lifetime
resident. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Christian Mothers'
Society. She was a homemaker and had worked at Berend Brothers Egg Farm. She
and Alois "Ally" Schroeder were married September 27, 1949 in Windthorst.
Pallbearers were Richard Schreiber, Ronnie Schroeder, Clifford W. Pennartz, Jody
Jackson, Cody Pennartz, and Dustin Pennartz.

World War II. He was stationed in New Guinea and in Hickam Field, Hawaii. He
had been employed as a pumper for Ausanka Oil Operations of Wichita Falls for
more than 23 years in Throckmorton County. He retired from Ladd Petroleum in
1984. He was involved in farming most of his life.

Mr. Crawford was born August 8, 1928 in Archer County. He moved to Archer City
in 1933 where he lived until moving to Midland in 1984. He was a graduate of

Ray Coe, 68, of Holliday, Texas, died Saturday (April 4, 1992) in a
Wichita Falls hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in
Holliday with the Rev. Bill LaBarr, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in
Holliday Cemetery under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.
Mr. Coe was born March 2, 1924, in Franklin County, Texas. He moved to
Holliday in 1959. He retired as superintendent from Holliday Independent
School District in 1983. He held a bachelor's and master's degree in
education from East Texas State University. He served in the Navy in World
War II.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Hopkins, a daughter, Janet White of
Mineral Wells, Texas; a son Jim Ray of Houston, a sister, La Verne Harris of
Winnsboro, Texas; three brother, Robert and Tommy, both of Shreveprot, La,
and James of Odessa, Texas; and two grandchidlren.
The family will receive guest from 7-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Gilmore, JoAnn
JoAnn Gilmore 60, died Monday (Jan 16, 1995) in her home in Dundee,
Texas.

Mrs. Gilmore was born Sept 27, 1934 in Dundee, where she was a lifetime
resident. She and Leo Gilmore were married July 15, 1953 in Dundee.
Survivors include her husband; her mother, Lorine Gilmore of Dundee;
three sons, Allen of Holliday, and Bob and Guy, both of Wichita Falls; three
sisters, Izola Hunsaker of Wichita Falls, Claudette Noles of Dallas and
Rosemary Copeland of Graham, Texas and seven grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Hazel Marie Carr, 66, died Saturday (Oct. 5, 1996) at her Holliday,
Texas, home.

with the Rev. Randy Potter and the Rev. Gil Peters officiating. Burial will
be in Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral
Home.
Mrs. Carr was born Jan.24, 1930, In Archer County. She was a
health-care attendant before retiring in 1993. She was a Member of the
Archer county Homemakers Class, the Alathean Class and the Tops Club in
Holliday and Fritch, Texas. She was a member of First Baptist Church of
Holliday.
Survivers include her mother, Ruth M. Jones of Holliday; two sons,
Marvin D. of Burleson, Texas, and J.D. of Fritch; a daughter, Mary Jane of
Burleson; two sisters, Dessie Hurt, and her twin sister, Verba Seale, both
of Holliday; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 this evening.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls or Holliday First
Baptist Church.
Williams, David C.
David Charles Williams, 71, of Holliday, Texas, died Tuesday (August 6,
1996) in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Holliday First United
Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill LaBarr, Pastor, Officiating. Burial
will be in Dundee, Texas Cemetery under the direction of Owens & Brumley
Funeral Home.
Mr. Williams was born July 4, 1925, in Dundee, Texas. He was a
rancher. He was a member of the Dundee United Methodist church and the Red
River Renegades. He was an ex-board member of the Texas Wheat Growers
Association and an ex-director of the Electra State Bank. He was a special
deputy for Archer County.
Survivors include his wife, Betty J. of Holliday; two daughters, Katie
Mitchell of Holliday and Molly McNair of Midland, Texas; a son, Patrick of
Canyon, Texas; a brother, Kenneth of Dundee, Texas; a sister, Mary Beth
Wigington of Oklahoma City and four grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
Parsons, Helen E.
Helen Elizabeth Parsons, 76, of Holliday, Texas, died Thursday, May 1,
1997, in Denton, Texas.
Graveside services will be in Roselawn memorial Park in Denton with Dr.
Larry Davis officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of DeBerry
Funeral Home.
Mrs. Parsons was born July 17, 1920 in Purdon, Texas. She was a
graduate of Dawson High School and the University of North Texas, where she
received her teaching certificate. She ws a member of the First United
Methodist Church of Holliday. She was a Home Economics teacher at Holliday
high School, retiring in 1970.
Surviviors include a sister, Hazel Hall Hunsaker of Farmers Branch,
Texas and two brothers, John Grover Hall of Denton and J.B. "Dutch" Isbell
of Sanger, Texas.
Carver, Johnny Henry
Johnny Henry Carver, 76 died Thursday, June 3, 1999, in a Wichita Falls
Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First University Methodist
Church of Holliday with the Rev. John Dillard, associate pastor,
officiating. Burial will be in Holliday Cemetery under the direction of
Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.
Mr. Carver was born Feb. 17, 1923, in Mesquite, Texas. He and Jo Carol
Hoing were married Sept 1, 1950 in Holliday. She died in August 1993.
He served in the military during World War !! and earned the American Theatre
medal, EAME Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, the Good conduct Medal and World War
II Victory metal. He retired from Ayres Oil Inc. after 28 years of service
and in the mid-60's had a short career as a race horse jockey. His son,
Johnny, died in June 1991.
Survivors include two daughters, Patti Harris of Wichita Falls and Pam
McCord of Archer City, Texas; two sisters, Betty Lewis of Lawton, Okla., and
Jo Ann Owens of Aransas Pass, Texas; five grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American heart Association.
Coffman, Frances Wirz
Services for Mrs. Frances Wirz Coffman, 74, of Vera, were held Wednesday in
Vera United Methoist Church. Officiating ministers were the pastor,Rev. Eddie Allsup,
Rev. Douglas Crow aand Rev. Roland Moore.
Burial was in the Vera Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
Mrs. Coffman died Sunday in a Wichita Falls hospital. She was born May 17, 1913 in
Baylor County and was a member of the Vera United Methoist Church. She was a
teacher in the public schools for 23 years and a member of the Retired Teachers' Assn.
She was a Sunday School Teacher, past county chaairman for the Know Coaunty Unit,
American Cancer Society and a past president of the Knox County Historical Commission.
Survivors include her husband, Olen Coffman of Vera; threee daughters, Barnara Moore
of Seymour, Marianne Coffman of Denton and Jackie Coffman Lane of Archer City; two sons,
Olen Coffman, Jr. of Vera and Robert Coffman of Goree; four sisters, Bertha Martin,
Minnie Dormier and Rosa Lena McMahon, all of Seymour and Margaret NNelson of Alpine;
two brothers, Clements Wira of Seymour and Sam Wirz of Redlands, Calif. and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers were jerry Beck, R.E. Massey, Rex Tillery, Charles Plunkett, Bob Cude
and Bill Hudson. Honorary pall bearers were Bill Townsend, Norman Clark, Weston Parrish,
Olaf Shipman, Armand Smith and les Jamison.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the donor's church.

Moore, Carlos
Funeral services for Carlos Moore, 77, were held Monday in the Archer City Assembly of God Church,
with church pastor Rev. Paul Snodgrass officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Horace Kimbro of Olney.
Burial was in Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home. Moore died Saturday
in the Archer County Hospital. He was born Nov. 13, 1904 in Waxahachie and grew up in Wichita Falls.
He moved to Archer City nine years ago from Seymour. He and Susie Leek were married Dec. 4, 1972
in Eastland, Texas. He was a retired ranch hand. Survivors include his wife, Susie of Archer City;
a stepson, Buddy Swaze of Simi Valley. Calif.; two sisters, Thelma Bull of Dimmitt and Delvinia Person
of Ozone and five grand-children.
Pallbearers were Raymond Fuller, Conner Fletcher. Nolen Green, Richard Prideaux, Sonny Gant
and Wes Herndon.

Haigood, Lonnie Cecil
Funeral services for Lonnie Cecil Haigood, 42. of Wichita Falls, were held Wednesday
in First Baptist, Church in Archer City. Church pastor Rev. Bill Potts officiated and
was assisted by Rev. Donnie Linscott of Archer City.
Burial was in the Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Mr. Haigood died Monday in a Wichita Falls Hospital. He was born December 1, 1939
in Wichita Falls. He attended school in Archer City and was an electronics technician
at Midwestern State University.
He and Mitzi Mann were married Dec. 20. 1980 in Wichita Falls.
Survivors include his wife. Mitzi of Wichita Falls. a daughter Shari Haigood and
a son Chris Haigood, both of Lake Coleman; a step-daughter. Lisa Newton and
a stepson Michael Hacker. both of Wichita Falls; his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Haigood
of Archer City and his grandmother, Mrs. Margie Longan of Archer City.
Pallbearers were Ward and Allen Campbell. Barry Morrison, Jimmy Powell,
Jimmy Ashton and Willie Willeford.

Davis, R. G.
Graveside services for R.G. "Fat" Davis. '75. were held Monday in Holliday Cemetery
with Chaplain Bob Brown of Wichita General Hospital officiating. Services were under
the direction of Tanner-Aulds Funeral Home of Iowa Park.
Mr. Davis died Saturday at his home in Holliday. He was born September 27, 1908
in Young County and had been a resident of the Holliday area for 30 years.
He and Frances A. Wages were married June 15. 1946 in Wichita Falls. He was a retired rancher.
Survivors include his wife of Holliday: a son. Robert C. Davis of Electra;
a daughter, Leann Davis of Holliday; a brother. Charles Davis Jr. of Newcastle
and a sister, Mrs. lla Woods of Newcastle.

Purcell, John S.
John S. Purcell, 59, died Friday in Fort Worth. Graveside services were held in the Archer City
Cemetery on Saturday, following services at Sagamore Hill Baptist Church in Handly.
Rev. Woody Weilage officiated at the graveside services, under the direction of Lucas Funeral Home.
Mr. Purcell was a member of a pioneer Archer County family and brother of former U.S. Congressman
Graham Purcell. He was born March 10,1924 in Archer City and lived here for 20 years. He was an
insurance agent, a member of the Rotary Club, Masonic Lodge and Sagamore Hill Baptist Church.
He and Mary Lain were married on September 2, 1947 in Cleburne. Together they restored the Purcell
family home in Archer City, filling it with authentic momentoes of the past.
The couple hosted a class reunion there last year. A large number of family and friends gathered
there following the memorial services and the United Methodist Women hosted the meal.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of Fort Worth; a son, John S. Purcell. Jr. of Fort Worth;
two daughters, Kathy Purcell of Irving and Cindy Purcell Drewien of Mobile, Ala.;
a brother Graham Purcell of Alexandria, Va, and one grand-daughter.

Molina, Robert
Funeral services for Robert (Ruper) Molina, 74, of Holliday were held on Friday in Owens & Brumley
Funeral Home chapel. Rev. Josh Iberra, pastor of First Mexican Baptist Church, Wichita Falls,
officiated, assisted by Rev. Mike Gresham, pastor of First Baptist Church of Holliday. Burial was
in the Holliday Cemetery.
Mr. Molina died Tuesday in a Wichita Falls hospital. He was born March 27, 1909 in Toyd, Texas
and had lived in Holliday since 1979. He was a retired landscaper.
Survivors include his wife, Bessie of Holliday; three sons, Robert of Wichita Falls, Jessie and Rudy,
both of Holliday; two daughters, Juanita Rivas, Wichita Falls and Mary Stucki of Iowa Park;
six sisters, Ora Nunez, Bormingham, Ala., Gavina Garrett, Detroit, Mich., Dominga Garcia, Wichita Falls,
Candy Weigand, Hardin, Mont., Inez McElroy, Fountain Valley, Calif., and Tonly Field, Casper, Wyn;
two brothers, Basile Molina, Fort Morgan. Colo. and William Molina, Hardin, Mont; 24 grandchildren
and 16 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services for Mrs. Irene R. Bell, 74, of Wichita Falls were held Monday in Riverside Cemetery

Mrs. Bell died Sunday in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Mrs. Bell was born March 26, 1909 in Ballinger and had been a resident of Wichita Falls for 14 years.
Survivors include her husband, William Bell of Wichita Falls: two daughters, Judity Rasmussen of
Hazel Park, Mich. and Darlene Pope of Brown City, Michigan; a son, Jimmie Bell of San Diego. Calif.:

Hilbers, William H. "Bill"
Former Scotland resident William H. "Bill" Hilbers, 86. died Friday in a Wichita Falls nursing home.
Funeral mass-was held Monday in St. Boniface-Catholic Church and burial was in the St. Marys Cemetery
in Windthorst 'under the direction of Hampton-Vaughn Funeral Home. Rosary was held Sunday in
Hampton-Vaughn.
Mr. Hilbers was born Sept. 3, 1898 in McDade, Texas and had been a resident of the Scotland Community
from 1911 until 1970, where he was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. He was a
retired dairy farmer.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Helen Hund of Wichita Falls and five grandchildren.

Roberson, Ollie Ruddock (Mrs)
Services for Mrs. Ollie Ruddock Roberson of Perryton, were held Tuesday in Aulds Funeral Chapel,
with Rev. Bill Potts, pastor of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in the
Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Mrs. Roberson died Sunday in a Perryton hospital. She was born Feb. 14, 1899 in Marietta, La.
and came to Archer County at an early age. She married Frank Roberson of Archer City on Sept. 16, 1917
and the family lived in Archer City and the area until his retirement. She was a member of
First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Cora Edna Blevins and a son, Joe Frank Roberson, both of Perryton;
eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Pall bearers were her grandsons.

Parker, V.R. "Sonny"
Area resident V.R. "Sonny" Parker, 50, died Sunday in a Wichita Falls hospital. Services were
held Tuesday in Hampton-Vaughn Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Merwin Turner, pastor of
Floral Heights United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial was in Hopewell Cemetery in Montague County.
Parker was born June 15, 1933 in Fruitland and lived in the Kamay area most of his life.
He had been employed by Wichita Oxygen Supply for more than 20 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra K. Shelton of Wichita Falls; two sons, Michael
and Mark Parker of Kamay: his mother Mrs. Lorine Lavender of Wichita Falls; a brother,
Chuck Parker of Holliday and a grandson.
Pallbearers were Richard Meyer. Mike Smith, Orville Baker, Darrell Johnson,
Rick Dodson and Cecil Lopez.

Mount, David
Former Archer County resident David Mount, 44, died Sunday in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services were held Monday in First Baptist Church, Vernon, with church pastor,
Dr. Rick Forrester officiating. Burial was in Eastview Cemetery.
Mr. Mount was born Feb. 20, 1939 in Wichita Falls, and lived with his parents on a ranch
in Archer County for several years. He had been a resident of Vernon since 1961 and was
a member of First Baptist Church and of the Santa Rosa Palomino Riding Club. He was a
saddle maker and a farmer near Vernon.
Survivors include a son, Dane Mount; two daughters, Cristi Mount and Julie Mitschke:
his mother, Mrs. W. Doyle (Georgia) Mount and a sister. Mrs. Darlene Case, and two grand�children,
all of Vernon.

Walsh, Emma Florine (Mrs Jay)
Archer City resident, Mrs. Jay (Emma Florine) Walsh died Friday in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services were held Saturday in Aulds Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Dillard, pastor of
First United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Fort Worth with Rev. Woody Weilage former pastor
of Archer City First United Methodist Church officiating, at the graveside services,
under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Mrs. Walsh was born in Panhandle, Texas and came to Archer City in 1952. She was
a nurse at Wichita Falls State Hospital and a member of the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband Jay Walsh of Archer City; a son James Walsh of Houston
and a daughter, Mrs. Paula Erickson of Dublin and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Pat Brock, Dizzy Dean, D.E. Bratt, Grady Schenk, Pat Scheller,
and Paul Martin. Honorary pallbearers were Jeff Seay and Max Watts.

Graveside services for Baby Boy Sherrill were held Saturday in Restland Cemetery in Olney.
Rev. Jim Downs, pastor of Southside Baptist Church officiated. The child was stillborn
Friday in Archer County Hospital.
Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Darren Sherrill of Archer City; a brother,
John Thomas Sherrill of Archer City; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Sherrill of Wichita Falls
and Mr. and Mrs. John Gardner of Broken Bow, Okla: great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Willis
Spradling, Olney; Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Taylor, Wichita Falls; Mrs. Frances Gardner,
Wichita Falls; Mrs. Opal Sherrill, Newcastle: Mr. and Mrs. E.C. McCurdy, Petrolia and

Entrop, Alfred
Funeral services for Alfred Entrop, 67, of Wichita Falls, were held Tuesday in Owens
Brumley Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Reed, pastor of Liberty Baptist Church officiating.
Burial was in the Holliday Cemetery.
Mr. Entrop died Sunday in a Wichita Falls hospital. He was born in Wichita County and a
lifetime resident of this area, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Suvivors include his wife, Doris of Wichita Falls; a son Jerry Entrop, of Wichita Falls,
two daughters, Laquita Lassiter, Amarillo and Nadine Fancher, Wichita Falls; a step-son
Doug Capps, Duncan, Okla.; two step-daughters, Marilyn Barrick, Gainesville and
Shirley Anderson, Wichita Falls; a brother, Henry Entrop, Iowa Park; three sisters,

Luig, Frank J.
Funeral services for pioneer farmer, Frank J. Luig, 85, were held Monday in St. Boniface
Catholic Church, with church pastor, Rev. Bart Landwermeyer, officiating. Burial was in
St. Boniface Cemetery. Rosary services were held Sunday evening in Aulds Funeral Chapel.
Mr. Luig died Saturday at his home in Scotland. He was born Dec. 9, 1897, the son of
Frank and Carrie Luig, in Louisville, Ky. He came to Scotland with his parents in 1909.
He was a retired dairy farmer, and a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.
Survivors include one son, Edward Luig of Scotland; four daughters, Gladys Meurer, Slaton;
Mrs. Helen Buchanan, Corpus Christi; Mrs. Dorothy Scheffe, Ft. Worth and Mrs. Florence Koetter
of Henrietta; a stepdaughter, Marie Manley, Wichita Falls; 36 grandchildren and
50 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Charles Luig, Larry Meurer, Duane Scheffe, Ken Koetter
and Mark and Eddie Luig.

Yancey, Doyle
Funeral services for Doyle Yancey, 62, of Lakeside City were held Monday in Owens &
Brumley Funeral Chapel with Rev. Raymond Franklin, pastor of Northside Baptist Church
officiating. Burial was in Crestview Cemetery. Mr. Yancey died Saturday at his home in
Lakeside City. He was born May 31, 1921 in Wichita Falls. He was a lifelong resident of
Wichita Falls and was engaged in the construction business.
Survivors include his wife, Joy of the home; a son, Mike Yancey of Lakeside City;
a brother, Pete Yancey of Tennessee Colony, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Mae Underwood,
Wichita Falls, and Mrs. Wanda Noll, Lakeside City; his mother, Mrs. Flossie Yancey of
Wichita Falls and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Donald Morgan, Carl Coleman, Andrew J. Wilson, Claude Garner, Tommy Noll
and Dickey Noll. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Blacklock and Ken Franklin.

Hale, Lottie Vardman
Munday, Texas- Lottie Vardeman Hale, 85, died last Wednesday in a Haskell,
Texas hospital.
Services were at 10 am Friday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Kent Parks of Megargel,
Texas, officiating. The Revs. Jim Way of the First Baptist Church and Don Travis of the
First United Methodist Church assisted. Burial was in Megargel with McCauley-Smith Funeral Home
in charge of arrangements.
She was born March 2, 1898, in Old Glory, Texas, and moved to Munday in 1983. She was a member
of Megargel First Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Levi Bowden of Munday, Mrs. Houston Covey of
Buffalo Gap, Texas, Mrs. V.J. Moore of Clovis, N.M., and Mrs. Robert Lloyd of Glastonbury, Conn.;
six grandchildren; and nine great-grand-children.
