The photograph was taken in 1917 and has Bryden, Sunny Brae written on it. The book, "Place-Names and Place of Nova Scotia has no entry for Bryden. The 1985 map of Nova Scotia issued by the Department of Lands and Forests does show a series of brooks southwest of Sunnybrae at the Pictou-Guysborough border named from west to east, Upper Bryden Brook, Bryden Brook, Middle Bryden Brook and East Bryden Brook. The map also depicts "wagon roads, trails" in the area, perhaps remnants from the lumbering era.
