YETMAN (Palmer), Patricia Joy - 52, Ottawa, Ont., formerly of Nicholsville, Kings Co., after a long battle with cancer passed away in Ottawa on October 1, 2006. Born in Berwick, Patricia was a daughter of the late Gerald and Joan (Clark) Palmer. Surviving are her husband, Paul; son, Michael, both of Ottawa; sister, Deborah (Donald) Muise, Greenwich, Kings Co.; niece, Angela (Kendall) Davidson, Bayers Lake, Halifax Co.; aunts, Alfretta (Lawrence) Morse, Berwick; Joyce MacInnis, Hantsport; Phyllis (Ervin) Ward, Nicholsville; numerous cousins. There will be no visitation. Funeral service will take place 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 28, in H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, NS B0P 1E0, Canon Emery Harris officiating, with a reception to follow in the funeral home. Interment in Aylesford Union Cemetery. YOUNG, Vincent Henry, CD - New Minas, passed away peacefully in his 89th year on Thursday, July 17, 2008, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, Halifax. Born in Kentville on April 6, 1920, he was the son of the late Freeman and Georgie (Surette) Young. He is survived by daughters, Janet (David) Morse, Enfield; Joan Louise (Richard) Brown, Truro; sons, Robert (Barbara), Truro; Richard (Elizabeth, deceased), Halifax; Michael (Rebecca), Dartmouth; Mark (Bonnie LeFrank), Halifax. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Jean (McGrory); his sister, Marguerite (Herbert) Parker, and granddaughter, Allison Brown. He lived his early life in Kentville. During the Second World War, Vince served in the navy and was stationed in and off Halifax and St. John's, and was in the English Channel during the Normandy Invasion in 1944. While serving in Newfoundland, he met and married his wife, Jean. After the war, he moved to New Minas and returned to work at Dominion Atlantic Railway until his retirement in 1980. His family was the most important part of his life, and he was very dedicated to them and very proud of their accomplishments. Their cottage life at Aylesford Lake was the summer focal point for him and his family for over 30 years. He also enjoyed the outdoors and especially hunting, fishing and canoeing with his sons. Vince was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings Branch No. 6, Kentville, and also served as treasurer of the Ken-Wo Golf and Country Club, New Minas. He was a good Christian and a devout Catholic having been an altar server during his early life and always a faithful member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Kentville. He was active in the community having served on the New Minas Home and School Committee and on the Group Committee of the New Minas Boy Scouts. Cremation has taken place. A Royal Canadian Legion service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, July 20, in White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, followed by visitation from 7-9 p.m. and prayers to be held at 8 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 21, in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Kentville, Father Craig Christenson officiating. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kentville. A reception will follow in St. Joseph's Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Chalice - Christian Child Care International, or the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. from the July 18th, 2008 issue of the Chronicle Herald, Halifax.
