At St. Paul’s Methodist church, Canso, N.S. Aug 19th by Rev. L.E. G. DAVIE, Jean Warren, youngest daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Isaac J. WHITMAN to Ray Daniel STEWART of New Glasgow.

Brakeman Killed at Salt Springs
Returned Soldier Killed by Accident on Railway.
Last Friday forenoon Coroner T. M. JOHNSON was summoned to Salt Springs to hold an inquest over the body of George S. TAYES, who had been killed by the engine of an extra freight. The body was wrapped in canvas and taken to Salt Springs.

ENGAGEMENT
Mr. & Mrs. Alfred BAIRD announce the engagement of their daughter, Vera Maude to Mr. Sidney Lothrop BARNES of Wood Point, N.B. The marriage will take place the later part of September.

DEATH
Burns HARTLING of Malagash Point was killed at Pictou recently. The remains were conveyed to his former home n the 15th.

** Mr. & Mrs. N.S. SANFORD motored from their home in Quincy, Mass in their high-class Oldsmobile car, arriving in Oxford last week. They will spend a few weeks visiting relatives in Cumberland County. N.S.

** Mr. Charles KENNEALLY and son, John of Everett, Mass are visiting Mr. & Mrs. J.C. MacCORMACK.
