AMHERST
OBIT - Mrs. M.M. STERNS
Feb 24th - The funeral of the late Mrs. M. M. STERNS was on Sunday afternoon from the home on Church Street and the cortege that followed the remains to the Church of England cemetery was one of the largest in the history of the town.
The late Mrs. STERNS passed away very suddenly, Saturday morning, after a brief illness. She was sixty years of age and is survived by her husband, Prof. M. M. STERNS; two sons, George and Ralph, of the legal firm of STERNS & STERNS and one daughter, Marion.

**OBIT - Joseph E. MATTINSON
Joseph E. MATTINSON, an aged resident of Shinimicas Bridge passed away Feb 10th at the home of his grandson, Murray MATTINSON, Chelsea, Mass.
The deceased had been spending a few weeks with his children when he was stricken down with that dread disease, influenza, which developed late pneumonia and in spite of all the medical skill and loving hands could do, he passed away to the great world beyond.
The deceased was at the time of his death n his seventy-first year. He was a deacon of the Baptist Church for many years and had a bright and cheerful word for every one. He leaves to mourn their loss, his wife and four children, Mrs. Pearly BARBRICK, Miner and Alex MATTINSON, all of Haverhill, Mass. Mrs. John H. McDONALD of Oxford, and several grandchildren of whom Ava EATON resides at his former home. Also one sister, Mrs. Clinton BIGELOW, Kings Co., and four brothers, John, Vance, Smith and Wellington of Brockton, Mass.
The remains were brought home and the funeral service was held from his late home on Sunday afternoon where, despite the rough weather, a large number of friends paid their last respect to the deceased. Pastor SCOTT of Oxford gave a message of comfort and consolation to the bereaved family and friends from the text, “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord”,
The hymns were, “Shall we Gather at the River?” "Rock of Ages” “Abide with Me”. The burial took place at Birch Grove Cemetery.
To the wife and family of the deceased we extend our deepest sympathy. “Gone, but not forgotten”.

OBIT - Enoch WILSON
Many friends of Elder J. L. WILSON, formerly of Oxford, will regret to hear of the death of his eldest son, Enoch, aged 28 years, at Oshawa, Ont., from pneumonia following influenza.
Mr. WILSON was with his son during his five days illness and Mrs.
WILSON, who was summoned from Memramcook by telegram, arrived on Monday morning and her son passed away Monday evening. Besides his parents, brothers and sisters he leaves a wife and little daughter one year old.

**OBIT - Mrs. Mary Jane PAGE
Died at Independence, Missouri, Feb 5th, Mary Jane PAGE, wife of Albert PAGE, aged 83 years, leaving a husband, one daughter, Mrs. R.C. DAVIS and one son, W. A. PAGE to mourn the loss of one of Earth’s noblest women. Mr. PAGE is a native of Amherst, N.S., while Mrs. PAGE whose maiden name was HODGSON was born at Farmington, River Philip, Cumb Co., N.S.and taught school here for several years. Mr. & Mrs. PAGE resided in California for many ears. About 28 years ago she visited her old home and relatives in Nova Scotia. She retained her bright mind and was active in Church and for her “Death had no sting”. She was indeed full of faith and good works and many friends will never forget her. The burial was at Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence. Several relatives survive here in N.S., Mr. Aaron HODGSON of Wyvern is a nephew.

OBIT - Judson STEVENS
Mr. Judson STEVENS of Thomson Sta., after a lingering sickness of dropsy and neuritis, which caused much suffering, passed away at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax on Thursday, Feb 5th, 1920. He leaves to mourn their loss a widow and six children, Janie and Freeman at home, Mrs. Welsford STONEHOUSE of Millvale, Frank of Springhill, Fred and Murray of Thomson.
The funeral service was held at the home, where despite the bad roads, a large gathering paid their last respects to the deceased. Rev. J.W. O’BRIEN of Oxford officiated. The hymns sung were, “Jesus, Lover of My Soul” and “Rock of Ages”. The burial took place on Sunday in the Baptist Cemetery, at Millvale.

At Malden, Mass., on Jan 10th, by Rev. Mr. ROSELLE, Albert E. OLIVER of Bathe, Me., to Miss Sadie A. MOSHER of Parrsboro, N.S.

BORN
At Stillwater, B.C. Feb 13th to Mr. & Mrs. Russell DICKIE (Nee Miss Viva TAIT) a daughter.

**DIED
Feb 15th, 1920 in City Hospital, Boston. May ROBERTS (nee May BETTS, daughter of A.S. BETTS) leaving a husband and two children.
