Mr. DAVID HOWARD of Middleboro lost his life on Thursday evening under sad circumstances. With a 2 horse team he left home to haul a load of slabs from the place of G. N. ALLAN's lumbering operations last winter.
While engaged in loading his sled, the pile of slabs fell upon him, striking him on the head and almost burying him beneath them. There was non but his horses to witness the accident, and the faithful animals were with him when his relatives found him next day. As it was thought he had remained at a neighbor's for the night his family felt very little uneasiness.
The remains being found as stated next morning, were taken to Brown's undertaking rooms, Pugwash and prepared for burial. Mr. HOWARD was a son of the late EPHRAIM and SARAH A. HOWARD and at the time of his death was in his 64th year.
Of a family of nine, seven now survive. They are BANFORD A. of San Francisco, Rev. THOMAS A. of Attleboro, Mass, Wm. KENT and HOWARD in Middleboro, MARGARET J. the only sister in Edmonton, Alta and ENSWORTH, the youngest of the family in Tucson, Arizona.
Mr. HOWARD's marriage took place in 1887 to Miss MARGARET O'BRIAN who survives him. From this union there was a family of 4 daughters, MABEL JENNIE, SARA and ELSIE and 4 sons, GEORGE of North Middleboro, CLAIR of Saskatchewan, CECIL at home and EARL who died in infancy.

Mr. WHITMAN read the Scripture and Rev. A. R. MORGAN offered prayer. At the conclusion of the service the remains were conveyed to the WALLACE RIVER Cemetery and there laid to rest.
