Amherst Man Killed by Train
Amherst, April 14 - G. STANLEY LOWTHER, a returned soldier, was killed by a train early this morning. The body was found by JOSEPH CAVANAGH, and was recognized by his brother, SHERMAN LOWTHER.

It is believed that the deceased had either been walking along the track towards his home or had jumped on a passing train and had either fallen or been caught by the train. His body was terribly mangled.
The deceased was the son of Mr. & Mrs. GEORGE LOWTHER, and besides his sorrowing parents he leaves 3 brothers, WILLIAM, twice wounded at the front and now in England ready to return to the trenches, WELLINGTON, better known in Amherst as, "The DUKE," now in France, and SHERMAN at home, also 3 sisters, ISABEL, wife of BEVERLY WHITE, Moncton, N.B., ELLA, wife of ASIL JAMIESON also of Moncton and IRENE at home.
G. STANLEY LOWTHER, with 33 others from Amherst, enlisted with the 17th Battalion in August 1914. He was wounded at the front and only recently returned.
