OBIT - William H. RIPLEY
The death occurred Saturday morning, Jan 31st of William H. RIPLEY, and old and highly respected citizen of Nappan, N.S. aged 85 years. Deceased had been in failing health for some time, so his death was not unexpected. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at two o’clock from his residence, the service being conducted by Rev. Sidney BOYCE, pastor of the Methodist Church of which the deceased had been for years a faithful member. He is survived by three sons and two daughters - Herbert of Brookdale, Geo. of Fenwick and Ernest, whom he was residing with, Mrs. Amos MITCHELL of Pugwash and Mrs. James SMITH of Nappan.

OBIT - Mrs. T. M. JOHNSON
This much-esteemed woman following a paralytic shock recently passed away at her home early on Tuesday morning at the age of 65 years. It was thought that she was gaining strength, but the end came suddenly after she was conversing with her relatives a short time before. The deceased was united in marriage to T. M. JOHNSON, Esq., 44 years ago and the life with her partner in life has passed very happily and harmoniously. She was a valued member of the Oxford Baptist Church and of the W. M. Aid Society and will be much missed in the community. The funeral, conducted by Pastor W.S. SCOTT, was held on Thursday afternoon, a large number of sympathizing relatives and friends gathering to show their respect and esteem for the departed one. The Baptist choir assisted in the music, the hymns being “Rock of Ages” and “Shall We Meet Beyond the River”. A quartette “She’s Gone to the Silent Tomb”, was sweetly rendered by Misses Bessie ROBB and Margaret WEBB and Messrs. J.C. McCORMICK and R.R. HICKMAN. Pastor SCOTT gave a message of comfort and consolation to the bereaved family and friends from the test, “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord”.
Afterward the remains were taken in charge by the director, Mr. E. B. McDOUGALL, Messrs. Wesley BLACK, G.I. THOMPSON, Miner McELMON and S.A. MARCHANT acting as pallbearers and the cortege wended its way in procession to Pine Grove Cemetery, where the burial took place. The floral tributes were most beautiful, as follows:

The surviving relatives are the sorrowing husband and two daughters, Mrs. (Dr.) F.W. PATTERSON of Winnipeg and Mrs. L. F. McC_ _ _ _ land living with her father and brothers, Everett, Trueman and R. S. THOMPSON of Oxford. Sisters are: Mrs. W. H. HEWSON of Oxford and Mrs. Geo. GUZZWELL of Calgary.

BORN
At Oxford, on Feb to Mr. & Mrs. LaMert BRANNON, a son - Therman McBeth Hingley BRANNON.


**DEATH
The news was received on Wednesday that Mr. Joseph E. MATTINSON an aged resident of Shinimicas Bridge, N.S. had passed away while visiting relatives in Haverhill, Mass. The remains will be brought home for burial. The deceased leaves a widow and children, of whom Mrs. John MacDONALD of Oxford is a daughter. A grand daughter, Miss Ava EATON, resides at his former home.

DEATH
At Wallace, after a short illness, Mrs. Annie CANFIELD, relict of the late Joseph B. CANFIELD, aged 90 years.
