A Look Back ...
Feb. 24, 1972 - Another of Oxford's old landmarks, the Canadian National Railway station at South Oxford, will soon be no more. Mr. Bert RICHES, well known local builder, is at present demolishing the old station.

Believed to have been built about 1890, the station and the big freight shed nearby, were busy spots years ago, before cars and trucks began to fill most of the transportation needs of Oxford.

Mr. Riches has a contract to demolish the station by April 30th. It is over ten years since there were passenger trains on the Short Line.
The big freight shed, which was filled to capacity when the Oxford Woollen Mills was bringing in large shipments of wool, shipping large quantity of blankets and cloth, and when two furniture factories were shipping from Oxford, was destroyed by fire about 15 years ago.
