A Look Back . . .
When Mr. Sydney PURDY, a farmer at Oxford Jct., was reported missing on June 13, 1920, a search party was organized and his body was found in the River Philip directly below the bridge leading to Oxford Jct. Mr. Purdy's hat had been discovered on the bridge. Believe that Mr. Purdy decided to end his life and attempted to hang himself. He attached a heavy chain to the bridge railing. Then apparently his weight caused the chain to break free from the railing and Mr. Purdy fell into the river, and drown.

In Memoriam
MOORING, John, who passed away July 9, 1991.
