OBIT - Miss MARION PURDY

Much sympathy is extended to Mr. & Mrs. Thos. W. PURDY, Millvale, in the great sorrow through which they are called to pass. Their daughter MARION passed to rest on Christmas morning at the home of her sister, Mrs. IRVING CRAWFORD, Amherst, after a short illness of pneumonia following influenza. The remains were brought home on Thursday and interment made in the Methodist cemetery. The burial service was conducted by, Rev. L.E.G. DAVIES. Many beautiful flowers covered the casket. The funeral sermon was preached in the Methodist Church on Sunday afternoon. Owing to the heavy storm, friends from a distance were prevented from attending. Miss PURDY was 26 years old, loved by all who knew her, and her death has saddened the hearts of many friends in Millvale and vicinity. Mrs. PURDY expected to have all her family home for Christmas with the exception of LAURIE of Kamloops, BC, who was sick in a hospital there the last letter they heard from him.

Besides her parents she leaves 3 sisters,

Mrs. CRAWFORD, Amherst,
ALICE at home and 2 brothers,
LAURIE in BC and
WILLIAM at home.

DIED - RIGHT REV. FREDERICK COURTNEY

RIGHT REV. FREDERICK COURTNEY, rector emeritus of St. James church, New York, former Episcopal bishop of Nova Scotia, died in New York on Sunday. Bishop Courtney was born in Plymouth, England 81 years ago, the son of the Rev. SEPTIMUS COURTNEY, Fellow of St. John's College, Cambridge. He came to America in 1876. In 1888 he was chosen Bishop of Nova Scotia and served for 16 years.

LOCAL

The funeral of the late BORDEN MILLER took pplace on Sunday afternoon, an although the day was stormy, quite a number of sympathizing relatives and friends gathered. Pastor HAYDEN delivered a comforting message.

A fatal accident occurred at Fenwick on last Friday afternoon. NORMAN McKAY, who lives with his father-in-law, CLIFFORD NOILES, was the victim. He was taking a load of sawdust down what is known as the ANDREW RIPLEY hill and evidently lost control of the horses. He was thrown out of the wagon at the door steps of the church and received fatal injuries. He leaves a wife and 2 small children and was 28 years old.

OBIT - DANIEL RUSHTON

The death of DANIEL RUSHTON occurred at his home on Smith Street on Monday morning at 6:30. He had been in poor health for some time. He leaves a widow and one son, WILLIAM and daughters,

The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon, being the 28th that Rev. Mr. HAYDEN has officiated at the past year. There was a goodly attendance of relatives and friends. The funeral took place at Pine Grove cem.

At the home of the bride, Springhill, on Dec 21st, by Rev. HAROLD TOMPKINSON, GROVER CLEVELAND DEARMOND of Truro and ALICE ETHEL WEATHERBEE.

At the Baptist Parsonage, Parrsboro, by Rev. Z.L. FASH, Dec 24th, SAMUEL ERNEST GILBERT, Parrsboro, and SOPHIA DOROTHY BROWN, Lakelands.

At the Manse, Northport, Dec 18th, by Rev. D.McD. CLARK, GEORGE B. CAMPBELL and VERNA E. MILLS, both of Northport.

WEDDING At Wyvern - PAYNE - JOHNSON

Miss RETA JOHNSON and Mr. ARTHUR PAYNE were married Christmas day at 3 o'clock at the residence of Mrs. W. SWEET, Wyvern, by Rev. L.E.G. DAVIES in the presence of near relatives of the contracting parties. The bride looked very pretty in a dress of navy blue silk trimmed with white. After the ceremony the guests were served with ice cream and cake and the bride changed her dress for a suit of navy serge with white silk blouse, and all drove to the residence of Mr. FRANK PAYNE, Williamsdale, where about 40 neightbours and friends were gathered to give them a hearty reception. After a pleasant evening a bountiful lunch was served. The young couple were _____ in a very hearty manner.
