St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church Cemetery, Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia
This transcription of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church Cemetery headstones, Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada was completed on July 20, 2001 by Paula and David Purcell of Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada. Not all information contained on the memorials was transcribed. We tried to capture the essential information that would assist other family researchers. With two exceptions we left out reference to living people whose names appear on some newer memorials. We did not always copy infant death material. It should also be noted that there is a common grave area for infants to the left of the cemetery proper as you look up at it from the highway. The index lists more than 440 individual names. Common names include Murphy, Currie, Cruikshank, MacDonald, Butler, Behie, Coady, Richards, Quillinan, and Perry. The first Purcell in my family to arrive in Nova Scotia from Carlow, Ireland is interred in this cemetery, as are many of my Murphy and Qullinan family. St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church was established in 1857. We offer this record freely to family researchers. NOTE: Thanks to Sherry Hilchey for spotting transcription errors on death dates for John Edgar and Annie McPhee. Thanks to Glen Malay and others of the St. Peter's Parish Council for adding 11 names that we did not have originally. You will note these by the presence of an asterisk (*).
