A post office southeast of Antigonish.

Part of the settlement of Black River was named Blackavon in 1891.

Among the early settlers were John Chisholm, Lauchlin McDonald, William Grant and the
MacIntyres.  The school served the residents of Meadow Green between Fraser's Grant
although the boundaries were changed frequently.
