Surviving are his wife, the former Helen Denise Synott, Quelph; daughter, Cheryl Samson, London, Ont.; sons, Robert, at home; Randy, Kevin, Guelph; sisters, Bernadette Clannon, Isabel Tandy, Dorothy Morrison; Little Anse; Delima Weisent, Petit-de-Grat; Lorraine Forster, Arichat; brothers, William, Lawrence, George, Rudolphe, twin brother, Ozwald, Little Anse; seven grandchildren. SAMSON, Alfred Raymond - Sampsons Cove, died December 4, 1998, in St. Anne's Centre, Arichat. He was a son of the late  Stephen and Eugenie (Boudreau) Samson. He operated a grocery store for 25 years. He is survived by his wife, Viola Samson;  daughter, Theresa (Mrs. Larry Burke), River Bourgeois; sons, Alfred (Cathy), Arichat; Wayne (Theresa), Antigonish; sisters,  Bertha-Mae Martell, Rose Martell, Sampsons Cove; Loretta Clannon, Little Anse; brother, Theophile Sr., Petit-de-Grat. He  will be sadly missed by grandchildren, Tyler (TJ), Kelsey and Colton Burke, as well as Steven and Justin Samson. SAMSON, Alvinia Mary - 82, Halifax, died April 17, 1999, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in the Magdalen Islands,  she was a daughter of the late Clifonse and Exilda Chevarie. She was a long time member of St. John the Baptist Parish. She  is survived by daughters, Jeanette and husband Leo Conrad, Theresa and husband Lloyd MacDonald, Ann and husband David Smart,  Rita Samson Davis, all of Halifax; Lorraine and husband Peter Gaudet, Amherst; sons, Stephen and Paul, both of Halifax;  sisters, Margaret Sampson, Halifax; Lucien (Mrs. Norman Legere, New Brunswick; Fabiola Sampson, Alice (Mrs. Jean Guy  Bertrand), both of Quebec; brothers, Willie and Rene, both of the Magdalen Islands; brother, Felix, Quebec; eight  grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. He was a member of St. Louis Church. SAMSON, Charles Leonard - 70, Halifax, died August 22, 1993, in Camp Hill Medical Centre. Born in L'Ardoise, Richmond  County, he was a son of the late Arthur and Mary Jane (Briand) Samson. He served in the Canadian Merchant Marine during the  Second World War, and prior to retirement worked as a stevedore for 30 years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman  Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, the former Margaret (Maggie) Chevarie; two sons, Arthur, Michael, both of  Williamswood; daughter, Diane (Mrs. Mike Burns), New Minas; brother, Gerard, Halifax; sister, Beatrice (Mrs. Al Hammond),  Ontario; five grandchildren. SAMSON, Clarence J. - 93, Hammonds Plains, formerly from Little Anse, Richmond Co., died November 22, 1999, in the Northwood  Manor Nursing Home, Halifax. Born in Little Anse, he was a son of the late Cyprien and Marie Jeanne (Samson) Samson. He was  a fisherman all his life and loved to tell stories of his fishing days. He was a key figure in the National Film Board Film  "Les Pecheur" ("The Fisherman"). Born in Arichat, she was a daughter of the late Conrad Landry and Lorraine (Boudreau) Landry. She will be sadly missed by her family. SAMSON, Eliza Bernadette - Funeral services for the late Eliza Bernadette SAMSON, 94, Arichat, formerly of Little Anse, were held November 5 in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Petit de Grat, with Father Remi Tremblay officiating. Burial was in Star of the Sea Cemetery, Petit de Grat. Mrs. SAMSON died November 1, 2005, in St. Anne Community and Nursing Care Centre, Arichat. Born in Petit de Grat, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Eliza (SAMSON) SAMSON. She and her husband moved to Everett, Massachusetts, in 1959 and, upon returning in 1969, founded Bernadette's Homestyle Bakery in the basement of their home. She was a member of the Little Anse Social Action Centre. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed playing cards and dancing. She is survived by daughter, Elizabeth SAMSON (George), Little

At the time of his death, he was employed with the Richmond District School Board as a school bus  driver for the past 15 years. He was also a carpenter, mechanic and fisherman. SAMSON, Lloyd Phillip - 48, died Tuesday, February 3, 1998, in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, VG Site, Halifax. Born in  Petit-de-Grat, Richmond Co., he was a son of the late Hyacinth and Jeanette (Arsenault) Samson. He graduated from IMDH in  Arichat. He was a very active member of the Halifax Cerebral Palsy Association, serving as treasurer for six years and,  until the time of his death, serving on the public relations and fundraising committees. He volunteered his time and effort  to Access-A-Bus and Access-A-Taxi advisory committees. He was also on the board of directors for DIAL (Disabled Individuals  Alliance) and the Halifax Taxi Commission. Prior to moving to Halifax, he was involved with the Cerebral Palsy Association  of Cape Breton and worked as a bookkeeper for LIP Grant for five years. Lloyd was a special, loving brother and will be  sadly missed by his brother, Patrick; sisters, Mrs. Anita Boudreau, Berthilda (Mrs. Nicholas Boudreau), Muriel (Mrs. Abraham  Berthier), all of Petit-de-Grat. SAMSON, Roy Darryll - 26, Riverview, N.B., formerly of Little Anse, Richmond Co., died January 28, 1997. Born in Antigonish,  he was a son of the late Medard Joseph and Iris Lillian (Shaw) Samson. He graduated from Isle Madame District High School,  Arichat, in June of 1989. He joined the Navy on August 29, 1989; was posted on HMCS Terra Nova and he served in the Gulf  War, December 1990-May 1991. He was an air traffic controller, employed with Transport Canada for the past two years in  Moncton Centre. Surviving are his fiancee, Tanya Thibeau, West Arichat; sisters, Bonnie (Mrs. Ronnie David), Arichat; Tammy  Samson, Victoria, B.C.; brothers, Randy, Todd, Little Anse; Ray, Moncton, N.B.; Byron, Sydney; a nephew. SAMSON, Theresa Doris - 59, Little Anse, Richmond Co., died peacefully surrounded by her family on July 31, 1999, in the  Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. She was a former employee of Ma's Take Out in Arichat and also a former employee of Richmond Fisheries in  Petit de Grat for many years. She was a member of the Little Anse Social Action Centre and was head of the Courtesy  Committee. SAMSON, Thomas Mitchell - 90, River Bourgeois, Richmond Co., died May 4, 1996, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born  at River Bourgeois, he was a son of the late Elias and Eliza (Fougere) Samson. He was a retired seaman, having sailed on the  Imperial Oil Merchant Ships. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, River Bourgeois. He was a veteran of the Second  World War, serving with the merchant marines. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, branch 47, St. Peter's. He was the  last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving is nephew, Raymond T. Millner Jr., New Jersey. He was predeceased  by his wife, the former Mary Fougere; sisters, Elizabeth, Rachael, Martha, Lena, Sophie; brothers, Wilfred, Gus, Cyril,  James, twin brother Martin. SAMSON, Wilfred Arthur Charles - 70, Arichat, died November 26, 1996, in Arichat. Born July 27, 1926, in Petit de Grat, he  was a son of the late Andrew and Cecile (Boudreau) Samson. He attended Consolidated School 13, Morrison High School and  Johnstown Academy. He served in the Merchant Marine during the Second World War (1942), Canadian Army active duty  (1944-1946) in the Infantry Corps and West Nova Scotia Regiment, Merchant Marine (1946-1950) and the Royal Canadian Air  Force (1953-1970). At that time, he served as councillor for Ward 11, Greenwood, and was chairman of the Home and School  Association. He was a retired teacher from Canso Regional Vocational School (1970-1988). He was representative of the Nova  Scotia Teachers Union and Sub-Local Canso Regional Vocational (1986-1987); secretary and chairman of IMDH School; Board of  Trustees (1974-1978); officer in Cadet Corps Arrow (19721984); vice-president of the Arichat Recreation Commission; past  president and life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 150; served as secretary on the executive board of Le  Courrier de la Nouvelle-Ecosse; elected member of Our Lady of Assumption Parish Council for eight years and was a member of  Isle Madame Boat Club. At the time of his death he was president of Charles Forest Coop. He was elected to the Richmond  District School Board (1991) and was serving his second, three year term. He was an avid winemaker, golfer, family  historian, painter, sailor and gardener. Surviving are his wife, Leola Marie (Marchand) Samson; daughters, Bernice (Mrs.  Vernon Boudreau), Cecile (Mrs. Frederick Hyland), Louise (Mrs. Blair Gotell), Yvonne (Mrs. Gilles Boudreau), all of Arichat;  Elise (Mrs. David Boudreau), Lower Sackville; Therese (Mrs. Valma Boudreau), Truro; sons, Blain and wife Michelle  (Boudreau), Petit de Grat; Gerard and wife Arlene (Bowen), Rocky Bay; 24 grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters,  Isabelle (Mrs. Gerard Theriault), Halifax; Elizabeth (Mrs. Joseph Marchand), Pondville; brothers, George, Lubin, Petit de  Grat; Dr. Herman Samson, Louisiana; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Leola in infancy; brothers,  Louis (Petit de Grat), John Cletus (Burnaby, B.C.) and nephews. Loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, he was  an inspiration to us all. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today and 11:30-1:30 p.m. Friday in C.H.
