QUANN (O'Handley), Anna Christina - Dominion, died September 30, 2006, in Cape Breton Regional Hospital. She was a daughter of the late Annie (Petrie) and Hugh O'Handley. Surviving are daughter, Linda (Les) MacLeod; sons, Michael, Shawn; eight grandchildren; two great-grandsons; special niece, Peggy (Dave) Delorey and their children. She was predeceased by brothers, Roy and Michael. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. QUANN, John J. - 73, 23 International St., Glace Bay, died December 15, 1995, in Glace Bay Hospital, South Street. Born in Donkin, he was a son of the late John and Gladys (Atkinson) Quann. He worked in the coal mines for a short period of time and was later employed as a salesman and supervisor at the Maritime Co-op. He later worked with L.H. Chernin, retiring due to ill health. He served with the Canadian Armed forces during the Second World War, and saw service during the Normandy Invasion. He was very active with the Royal Canadian Legion, branch 40, serving on various executive committees; past president of branch 40 and also Cape Breton Command. He was awarded the Palm Leaf and Maritimes Service Medal. In his younger years he was active in the Co-op and Credit Union. He was a member of St. Anthony's Parish and their male choir during the 1950s. Surviving are his wife, the former Millie McDonald; sons, WO Kenneth, Victoria, B.C.; WO Robert, Toronto; WO Gary, Lower Sackville; Sgt. Jamie, Lake Echo; daughter, Judi (Mrs. Gordon Crowe), Shearwater; brothers, Mick, Trenton, Ont.; Bill, London, Ont.; sisters, Florence (Mrs. Louis Denomme), London, Ont.; Jen LeBlanc, Riverview, N.B.; Gladys (Mrs. Steve Aucoin), Glace Bay; Jane (Mrs. Buddy McDonald), Glace Bay; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Robert, Francis; sisters, Annie, Phoebe MacDonald, Edith MacLeod. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Sunday, 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Monday in Curry Funeral Home, 140 Main St., Glace Bay. Funeral 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Anthony's Church, Rev. Jake Andrea officiating. Burial in parish cemetery. Donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
