Born in L'Ardoise, Richmond County, she was a daughter of the late Joe and Lily (Peters) Martell. She is survived by a daughter, Mary LeBlanc, Pugwash, Cumberland County; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by two sisters, Sarah, Sophie; brother, Matthew. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Assumption Church, Arichat, Rev. Hughie D. MacDonald officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in parish cemetery. Donations may be made to St. Anne Community and Nursing Care Centre or any charity.

Martell/Mirabito, Annie Cecelia (Bourque)-Annie Cecelia (Bourque) Martell/Mirabito 89, was Born June 30, 1917 in Cape Auget on Isle Madame, Richmond County Nova Scotia Canada and Baptized in Arichat. She died September 29, 2006 at the Chetwynde Nursing Home in Newton MA. She immigrated to the United States in 1926 at the age of 9 and attended and graduated from Everett High School in Everett MA.
She was predeceased by husbands Leo Martell and Victor Mirabito, a son Arthur Joseph Martell and sisters Florence, Agnes, Mary, Helen Stella, Lillian, brothers Arthur, Charlie, Bertie, Edgar, Walter and Ned and one great grandchild, Amanda Martell. Annie was the last surviving member of her Bourque family.
She is survived by her children Robert Edward (Barbara) Martell, Sr. and Carol Martell (David) Rowe of Naples Florida and her daughter-in-law Mary Martell of Southboro MA, her grandchildren Gary Martell, Thomas Martell, Robert Martell, Jr., Lynne Martell Traina, Jason Rowe, Sarah Rowe, Charlene Martell Frechette, and Lauren Martell Ingham as well as 13 great grandchildren.
Viewing will be at the Andrew Magni Funeral Home at 365 Watertown Street, Newton MA 5-8PM on Friday October 6, 2006. Funeral Mass On October 7th at 9AM at Our Lady's Church in Newton MA.

MARTELL, Desire Charles - 90, 6045 Lady Hammond Rd., Halifax, died June 2, 1994, in Melville Lodge. Born in Rockdale, he was a son of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Boudreau) Martell. He was a fisherman, freight handler and a City of Halifax Parks and Grounds employee. He is survived by his wife, the former Margaret (Maggie) Marchand; two daughters, Betty Nicholson, Halifax; Viola (Mrs. Terry Clark), Alberta; two sons, Edward, Bedford; Joseph, Summerside, P.E.I.; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers, Willie, Helaire, Albert; three sisters, Marion, Elize, Angeline. Funeral will be 12 noon today in St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church, Halifax, Rev. Donald Boudreau officiating. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society. MARTELL, Gerald "Ian" - 51, Waverley, passed away suddenly on March 29, 2006, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax, surrounded by his loving family. Ian is survived by his loving wife, Lise, Waverley; daughters, Charissa, Fall River; Dawn, Nine Mile River; son, Bryan, Waverley; special grandsons, Zachary and Randy. He will be also be missed by his beloved pets, Cleo, Morgan and Nursi. He is also survived by brothers, Charlie (Diane), Burlington, Ont.; Kenny, Bedford; Sandy, Lower Sackville; Billy (Donna), Truro; Kevin, Bedford; sisters, Irene (Mrs. Ken Bungay), Ottawa, Ont.; Jean Young, Hammonds Plains; Kay (Mrs. Bob Bieren), Halifax; Lynn (Mrs. Graeme MacDonald), Port Hood; Debbie (Mrs. Darren Hopkins), Hammonds Plains; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by parents, Fraser and Margaret Martell (Halifax), and brothers, Fraser "Sonny" and Donald. No visitation by request. A gathering of family and friends will held in Waverley Legion on Sunday, April 2, from 2-4 p.m. Many thanks to the EHS paramedics, doctors, nurses and staff at Cobequid Community Health Centre and QEII Health Sciences Centre. Because of Ian's special love for animals, memorial donations may be made to any branch of the S.P.C.A. "Grumpy" will be missed by everyone.

MARTELL, Henry Venard - 80, Port Hawkesbury, Inverness County, formerly of Pondville, Richmond County, died January 15, 1993, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Pondville, he was a son of the late Felix and Rosanna (Fougere) Martell. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Alma LeBlanc, Pondville; two daughters, Marina (Mrs. Andrew Moliason), Pondville; Maura (Mrs. David Boudreau), River Bourgeois; seven sons, Henry, Hughie, Hubert, Hector, all of Pondville; Herman, Lochside, Richmond County; Harold, Dundas, Ont.; Alphonse, Saugus, Mass.; sister, Clara (Mrs. Francis MacDonald), D'Escousse; two brothers, Leo, Francis, both of Pondville. He was predeceased by an infant daughter; four brothers, Albert, Jimmy, Clarence, Amedee. The body has been cremated under the
direction of C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home.

MARTELL, Hugh - 65, Pondville, passed away on April 2, 2006, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born on March 11, 1941, in Pondville, he was a son of the late Venard and Alma (LeBlanc) Martell. He worked aboard vessels on the Great Lakes, in the construction industry, and retired after 14 years at Midway Motors. He had a great love for boating and music, especially Bluegrass and attended many festivals. He is survived by his wife, Donna (Bowen); daughter, Michelle, Halifax; son, Dean (Carla), Pondville; grandchildren, Samantha and Aaron; brothers, Henry (Marjorie), Pondville; Herman, Thorburn; Harold (Dorothy), Ontario; Hector (Jovita), Truro; Alexander "Fosh" Pertus (Liz), Saugus, Mass.; sisters, Maura Boudreau (Dave), River Bourgeois; Marina Molaison, Pondville; sister-in-law, Geraldine Martell, Pondville. He was predeceased by his brother, Hubert and a brother in infancy. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held this evening from 7-9 p.m. in C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat. A Service of Remembrance will be held Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. in St. Hyacinth's Catholic Church, D'Escousse, Rev. Bruno Ruel officiating. MARTELL, Lawrence William - 68, Little Anse, Richmond County, died August 21, 1993, in Victoria General Hospital, Halifax. Born in Little Anse, he was a son of the late William and Obeline (Samson) Martell. He is survived by his wife, the former Alma Samson; two daughters, Verona Boudreau, Petit De Grat; Rosemarie Farrell, Sydney; two sons, Lloyd, at home; Donald Blair, Petit De Grat; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Boudreau, Rita (Mrs. Irvin Brennan), Mrs. Mary Belle Martell, all of Little Anse; two brothers, Charlie, Alphonse, both of Little Anse; seven grandchildren. MARTELL, Mabel - Mabel Martell of Edgemere Road, Montauk, N.Y., died of cancer in Southampton Hospital on Monday, April 17, 2006. She was 87. Mrs. Martell enjoyed playing cards and was fond of cribbage and also dominoes, which she indulged in at the nutrition centre in Montauk. She was a parishioner at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church. She always had a kind word for everyone. She was very community spirited and was loved by her family and friends. Mrs. Martell came to Montauk nearly 70 years ago. She was born on April 30, 1918 in Pondville, a daughter of Walter Briand and the former Mary DePouche. After leaving Pondville, she joined family members who had moved to Montauk to work as commercial fishermen. There she held a variety of jobs. An introduction to Albert Martell in the mid-1930s was followed by a proposal, and the couple wed on November 1, 1938 and raised five children. She was very devoted to her family. Mr. Martell died in 1978. Mrs. Martell is survived by daughters, Carol Luksic, Montauk; June Nickerson, Clark's Harbour; Arleen Hamilton, Providence, R.I.; Betty Morici, Montauk, and son, Albert Martell, Montauk. She also leaves behind a sister, Rita Paon, Montauk; 13 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. A funeral mass was held in St. Therese, and burial followed in Most Holy Trinity Cemetery in East Hampton. Memorial donations can be sent to American Cancer Society, P.O. MARTELL, Raymond - 80, 3782 Kencrest Ave., Halifax, died February 13, 1994, in Halifax. Born in Rockdale, Richmond County, he was a son of the late Jeffrey and Rose Martell. He had resided in Halifax since 1939. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving from 1939-1945 with the RCNVR on various ships. After the war, he successfully operated a hardware store on Gottingen Street, where he made many friends. He was a member of St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church was a 4th degree Knight, Knights of Columbus 8666 and member of Royal Canadian Legion, Scotia Branch 25; Pension Concern Inc. of Canada and an associate member of Investment Property Owners Association of Nova Scotia. He is survived by his wife, the former Agnes Martell; three sisters, Emma (Mrs. Leo Jeffrey), Louisdale, Cape Breton; Kay (Mrs. Frank Mombourquette), L'Ardoise, Cape Breton; Rita (Mrs. Fred Burgess), Halifax; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today and Tuesday in Cruikshank's Funeral Home, Robie Street, Halifax. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Stephen Church, Normandy Drive, Rev.
