He was born in Wedgeport, a son of the late Levi and Merici (Boudreau) Jacquard. He was a good and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Wedgeport Branch 6505. Basil is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lucie Jacquard, La Villa Acadienne; daughters, Norma Comeau (Henrie), Bangor; Cecile Hicks (Wallace), Meteghan River; sister, Theresa Saulnier, Toronto, Ont.; son-in-law, Chris Reilly, Halifax; grandchildren, Aldric, Gilles, Patrick, Susan, Peter; great-grandchildren, Ashton, Tyler, Danielle, Tristan, Annik. JACQUARD, Charles Eddie - 67, Lower Wedgeport, Yarmouth Co., died February 17, 1996, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Wedgeport, he was a son of the late Emilien and Agnes (Cottreau) Jacquard. During his working life he was a fisherman, fishery officer, truck driver for a boat building company and janitor at Wedgeport School. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, Council 6505, Wedgeport. Surviving are his wife, Florence (Flossie); son, Joseph, Halifax; daughters, Carole, Lower Wedgeport; Esther (Mrs. Kenneth LeBlanc), Audrey (Mrs. Keith Stevens), Yarmouth; sisters, Madeline (Mrs. Francis Boudreau), Adele (Mrs. Walter LeBlanc), Mrs. Margaret Pothier, Lower Wedgeport; Mrs. Leona Pothier, Upper Wedgeport; Mrs. Lucie Boudreau, Saulnierville; four grandchildren. JAMIESON, Grace Rhoda - 91, Mulgrave, died Friday, April 28, 2006, in Milford Haven Home for Special Care, Guysborough. Born in Manassette Lake, Guysborough Co., she was a daughter of the late Clement and Jane (Carter) McKay. Grace was a retired employee of the former Wandlyn Motel, Port Hawkesbury, and a member of St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Mulgrave. Surviving are daughter, Ruby (John) Morgan, Riverview, N.B.; sons, David (Glenda), Miramichi, N.B.; Joseph (Sadie), Mulgrave; 20 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; seven great great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by husband, Guy; son, Kenneth; sisters, Lina, Bertha, Edna and Hazel Ryan; brothers, Ernest and Marty. JOYCE, Hugh Kirkpatrick - Passed away on April 15, 2006, at home in Liverpool in his 86th year. Born in Toronto, he was a son of Thomas Wolsey Joyce and Lail Kirkpatrick (Hyslop). He was predeceased in 1994 by his wife of 52 years, Nancy Jane (Waters). He is survived by his sons, Richard Kirkpatrick (Barbara) of LaHave, and John Waters (Janet) of Peterborough, Ont.; grandchildren, Tricia (Simon Brassington), Worcestershire, England; Andrew, Michael and Richard of Peterborough, Ont.; and great-grandson, Sam Brassington; sister, Barbara Peace of Toronto, Ont. He was a graduate of Upper Canada College and University of Western Ontario (1949 Gold Medalist). He served with the Royal Canadian Navy (RCNVR) (1939-1945) retiring with the rank of Lieutenant-Commander. He joined Bowater Mersey, Liverpool, in 1950; General Manager of Bowater Newfoundland Ltd., Cornerbrook, N.L. (1965-1968); Vice President of Sales and later President & CEO of Bowater North America Corporation, Greenwich, Conn. (1968-1984), and Chairman until his retirement in 1984. During his working career Hugh served on many corporate boards of directors and advisory committees. Throughout his life he devoted many hours to chairing and serving on boards for educational, civic and charitable organizations in Canada and the United States. JULIEN, Edna Mae - 73, Halifax, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2006, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Gordon Johnson and Flora Johnson Boutilier, and stepfather, James Boutilier. She is survived by her daughter, Lorna (Mrs. Robert Bradley), Halifax; sons, Sidney Watts (Susan), Prince Edward Island; Harold Watts (Cheryl), Boutilier's Point; sisters, Sheila (Mrs. Albert Doubleday), Tantallon; adopted sister, Linda, Amherst; brother, Frank Johnson (Pat), Fredericton, N.B.; grandchildren, Terry, Wendy, Dennis, Graham, Adam, Matthew, and Taryn; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Edna was predeceased by her loving husband, Clifford, and adopted brother, Terry. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 5, from 6-9 p.m. in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax. A private committal service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia.
