DOREY, Alfred E. - 70, Evanston. It is with much sadness that we announce the death of our wonderful father,  grandfather and brother, which occurred on Thursday, April 20, 2006, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston,  with his loving family by his side. Born in West Arichat, Richmond Co., he was a son of the late Mary Alma  (Boudreau) and Walter Gus Dorey. Alfred was a crane operator and worked in the construction industry for 35  years. He was a member of Local 721 International Union of Operating Engineers and a member of St. Francis de  Sales Parish, Lower River Inhabitants. Alfred was a family man and was a devoted father and grandfather until  the very end. He is survived by special friend, Elsie Bouchie, Port Hawkesbury; daughters, Natasha, at home;  Denise (Mike) Kelly, Port Hastings; sons, Brent (Sharon), Port Hawkesbury; Barry (Sheila), River Bourgeois;  grandchildren, Gina, Ryan, Krista, Riley, Connor, Braden; sisters, Violet (Alexis) Dorey, Arichat; Viola  (James) Tyrrell, Arichat; Agnes Goyetche, Halifax; Jean (Gerald) Hart, Janvrin's Island; Sandra (John) Clancy,  Mulgrave; Isabelle LeJeune, Mulgrave; Bertha Boudreau, Louisdale; brothers, Joseph (Mabel), Pictou; George  (Doris), Janvrin's Island; Angus (Pearl), Lower Sackville; Wilfred, River Bourgeois; several nieces and  nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Patsy (McNamara); sisters, Helen and Theresa, and brother, Clifford.  Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be Sunday, April 23, from 2-9 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral  Home, Port Hawkesbury. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 24, in St. Francis de Sales  Roman Catholic Church, Father Allan MacPhie officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Whiteside.  Donations in memory of Alfred may be made to the Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society or St. Patrick's  Cemetery Fund. DOREY, Agnes Carole - 55, Fox Point, formerly of Union Square, Lunenburg Co., died April 19, 1998, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, New Infirmary Site, Halifax. Born in Elmwood, she was a daughter of Jessie E. (Beeler) Ramey, Union Square, and the late Earl L. Ramey. She was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Bridgewater. She was a retired homecare worker for Family and Children Services, Bridgewater. She was a past employee of E.J. Raimey Groceries and later Edgar Russell's Groceries, New Germany. Surviving are her husband, Ervin H.; stepdaughter, Diane (Mrs. Beryl Levy), Simms Settlement; stepsons, Gary Dorey, Birchy Head, Lunenburg Co.; Eric Dorey, Hubbards; sister, Veronica (Mrs. Willard Wagner), Barss Corner; brother, Russell, Union Square; three step-grandchildren; three nieces and two nephews. DOREY, Andrew David (Andy) - 19, Lewis Lake, died May 3, 1997, as the result of a boating accident at Big Indian Lake, Head of St. Margarets Bay. Born in Halifax, he was a son of David and Ruby (Smith) Dorey, Lewis Lake. He was a former member of the Scouts and the Junior Fire Department, Bay Road. Surviving are sisters, Trudy, Amber, both at home; paternal grandmother, Violet Dorey, Head of St. Margarets Bay; maternal grandparents, Donald and Ruby (Tate) Smith, Lewis Lake. He was predeceased by paternal grandfather, William Dorey. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. James Anglican Church, Boutiliers Point, Rev. JANVRIN HARBOR —Mrs. Peter John Dorey, 85, of Janvrin Harbor. Cape Breton, died Monday at the Victoria General Hospital, born in ,Janvrin Harbor, she was the former Bertha DeCoste, the daughter of the late Amedia and Anna Decoste. She is survived by five sons, Fred, River Bourgeois: John, Lynn, Mass.; Lee and Leo, Halifax : and Bonnie, Janvrin Harbor: six daughters, Alice (Mrs. Alice Sullivan) Lynn, Mass.; Corrine (Mrs. Lawrence Kelly), Halifax; Margaret (Mrs. M. Sutherland), both of Halifax ; Melvina (Mrs. George Kemp), Saskatoon. Sask.; Eva (Mrs. James MacDonaid), Lynn. Mass,: and Sylvia (Mrs. Albert Lawless) Winnipeg. Man.: two sisters, Mrs. Mary Poirier, Melrose, Mass.: and Mrs. Agnes Burke, Summervile, Mass.: and a number of grandchildren and great — grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband and a son, Rodney. DOREY, Clifford Arthur - 80, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 21, 1999, in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Saint John, N.B., he was a son of the late Charles and Rose (Stark) Dorey. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy for 21 years and then worked for Matthew Conveyor until his retirement. He was a life member of Royal Canadian Legion, Centennial Branch 160; life member of the Royal Antediludian Order of Buffalos, Harbour Lodge 53; member of the Grand Lodge of Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons of Nova Scotia, John Albro Branch 122; member of the Supreme Council the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry; president of Lake Loon Seniors Club, and a member of Emmanuel Anglican Church, Dartmouth. Surviving are his wife, the former Dorothy M. DOREY, Edmund Thomas "Tom" - 56, passed away at his home in Woodstock, Ont., Wednesday, October 18, 2006, after a short battle with cancer. Formerly of Head of St. Margaret's Bay, Tom was the third son of Edmund T. and Dorothy F. (Allen) Dorey of Todd's Island, Head of St. Margaret's Bay. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his parents as well as his brothers and sisters, Stephen (Martha), Allen (Cammie), Margie Anne (Malcolm Johnson), Elizabeth Dorey, Robin (Kathy), Rebecca Dorey (Rev. Leonard Bednar); his special cousin, Byron Dorey (Bettianne and son Jack); all his nieces and nephews, Suzanne (Frank), Stephanie (Scott), Travis, Andrew (Tammy), Erin, Laurie (Kris), Garrett, Rhys, Dylan, Emma and Thaine; great-nephew, Seth, and great-nieces, Payton and Lilah; his uncle, Forrest Dorey; aunts, Margaret Allen, Jean Henderson and Louise Allen; all his other cousins and good friends, including his former wife, Bev Dorey. Tom went out west after graduating from Sir John A. MacDonald High School in 1969. After several years in Swan Hills, Alta., he settled in Ontario where he lived and worked until his death. Tom was a respected employee (press operator) and plant safety officer at Canada Stampings in Woodstock, Ont. for 10 years. It was well-known that he would do anything to help his co-workers on and off duty. Tom was also an avid fisherman and golfer. A special thank you to all his Woodstock and area friends for their wonderful and caring support during Tom's final months. Family and friends are invited to a remembrance of Tom's life at St. George's Anglican Church, Head of St. Margaret's Bay, on Tuesday, October 24, at 11 a.m. with reception to follow in the church hall. The service will be officiated by Rev. Mark Marshall, assisted by Rev. Leonard Bednar. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or any charity of choice.

DOREY, Elmer William - 88, Hillside Pines Nursing Home, Bridgewater, formerly of Clearland, Lunenburg County, died October 25, 1994, in The Halifax Infirmary. Born in New Cornwall, he was a son of the late Amos and Flora Ann (Joudrey) Dorey. He spent most of his life working in Lunenburg County, except for a few years in Boston during the 1920's and 1930's. In 1958 he started his own construction business and in 1967 it became known as E.W. Dorey and Sons Construction Limited, Blockhouse, where he spent most of his working years. He was actively involved in many aspects of community work. He was one of the few living members of the original Blockhouse Volunteer Fire Department, which was founded in 1944, and remained active until recent months. He was a 48-year member of Charity Masonic Lodge 69 AF & AM, Mahone Bay, serving as past master and treasurer for many years and was awarded the office of Grand Steward of the Grand Lodge of Nova Scotia. In later years he became very active in senior citizens activities. He was also very active in politics from an early age and served as local poll chairman for the Progressive Conservative Party for many years. He was also a lifelong member of St. James Anglican Church, Mahone Bay , where he served on vestry council and was a warden for many years. He was an avid woodworker and gardener. He is survived by his wife, the former Emily G. (Strum) Wamback; daughter, Diane, First Peninsula; two sons, Milton, Blockhouse; Keith, Halifax; two stepdaughters, Donnalee (Mrs. Leslie Mathews), Clearland; Gail (Mrs. Trevor Bethel), Toronto; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by first wife, the former Laura Alice Eichel; granddaughter, Loralei. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay, where a masonic service will be 7 p.m. tonight. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday in St. James Anglican Church, Rev. DOREY, Esther Kathleen - 82, Hubbards, March 20, 1999, passed away peacefully at home. Born and raised in Mahone Bay, she was a daughter of the late Eleazer and Annie (Rost) Nauss. She enjoyed retirement following 33 years teaching elementary school in western Halifax County and always enjoyed reminiscing with former students. As well, she was very involved in her community and with her church, St. Luke's Anglican, where she was especially active with the Anglican Church Women (ACW) and as treasurer of St. Luke's Memorial Fund. Survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Albert; son, Glenn and daughter, Anne (Mrs. Andrew Hare); grandchildren, Allyson, JoAnne, Vancouver and Steven, Hubbards; sister, Hilda Burgoyne, Mahone Bay and brother, Hazen Nauss, Toronto. She was predeceased by her loving daughter, Christine and by brothers, Stanley and Enos Nauss. She is resting at Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards. DOREY, Evangeline May - 74, Melbourne Avenue, Kentville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 4, 1998, at home. Born in Bear River, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Edith (Maling) Reece. Evangeline was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She excelled in the domestic arts of knitting, sewing, cooking and crafts. In spite of a lifetime of heart disease, she persevered at all times. She was a continuing member of Clementsvale United Baptist Church, Annapolis County, and was an adherent of Kingsway Assembly Pentecostal Church, Kentville. She is survived by her husband, Gerald; daughters, Julia (Mrs. Walter Ellis), Kentville; Ferne (Mrs. David Mullins), New Minas; grandchildren, David Ellis (Jean), Donald Ellis (Pamela), Stephen Ellis (Sandra), Catherine Gordon (Gary); seven great-grandchil-dren. DOREY, Herman Bennie - 83, Janvrin's Harbour, passed away Monday, June 5, 2006, in St. Anne Centre, Arichat. Born in Janvrin's Harbour, he was a son of the late Peter John and Bertha (DeCoste) Dorey. He is survived by daughter, Patricia (Huntley) David, Petit de Grat; sons, John, Glace Bay; Duncan (Margaret), Raymond (Patricia) Gerald, Paul, and Jason, all residing in Alberta; sister, Eva MacDonald, Boston; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Theresa; infant son, David; brothers, Roddie, John, Joseph "Lee", Leo, Fred; sisters, Melvina Kempt, Sylvia Lawless, Alice Sullivan, Coreen Kelly, Margaret Sutherland. Bennie enjoyed playing various musical instruments, dancing and painting. He had a great love for life and will be dearly missed by all. Cremation has taken place. DOREY, Joseph Fisher - 73, 178 Campbell Rd., Kentville, died January 4, 1993, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kingston, Kings County, he was a son of the late Stanley Joseph and Clara (Fisher) Dorey. He served overseas during the Second World War. He had been employed with Cameron Construction, Halifax for several years. He owned and operated Avon Taxi service until retirement. He is survived by his wife, the former Patricia Ada Poole; daughter, Janet (Mrs. Wayne Balcom), Centreville, Kings County; three sisters, Mrs. Hilda Magee, Rennie (Mrs. Claude Banks), Eva (Mrs. Robert Stevens), all of Kingston; brother, Thomas, Kingston; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. War veteran Lindsay Dorey dies. DOREY, Lindsay Melvin - 94, Hubbards, died October 28, 1994, in the Halifax Infirmary. Born in Hubbards, he was a son of the late Selby and Gladys (Barkhouse) Lindsay. He was a lifelong resident of Hubbards. He served overseas during the First World War and the Second World War. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 44, Chester; a commissionaire for several years and a woodsman most of his life. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his wife, the former Tinie Elliott; son, Bernard, Fall River; five grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren.
