I am searching for my Great Grandfather Placido APODACA. He was the Justice of
the Peace in San Miguel County in the township of Chaperito, New Mexico in 1882.
He married Irenea Martines (z) Apodaca. They had children but I know only two
brothers Juan Apodaca and my grandfather Jose Benedicto Apodaca. Juan was a
Deputy Sheriff in Charperito. My grandfather was a sheep herder. Grandpa "Tito"
(Jose Benedicto Apodaca) married Desideria Pacheco in 1904 they had Joseph
Apodaca 1904, Rose Apodaca 1906, Lloyd, Paul, Pauline (my mother), Ines, and the
last of the children still living Guadalupe Apodaca born in 1923. I remember
many stories my grandfather told his life in New Mexico and they are happy and
loving memories of New Mexico. Chaperito is a ghost town now, and I don't know
if the cemetery is still there but I do remember as a child going to the
cemetery and seeing my great grandfathers grave, it was a big wooden cross and
tall white base at the entrance of the church. The last time any of the family
tried to get to Chaperito it was impossible to get to the town or the area where
the town once was. Renee Garcia

AUBLE
George Arthur AUBLE, who was born October 9, 1864, worked for the railroad and
lived near Las Vegas, San Miguel County, New Mexico, from about 1887 to 1894.
During that time, on March 5, 1889, his wife, Sarah, bore leyAUBLE. George
Arthur AUBLE was from Indianapolis, Indiana and returned there, with his family,
in 1894. But I have a record of a marriage for George Wesley Andrew AUBLE, on
December 24, 1910, in Las Vegas, San Miguel County, New Mexico.
He married Lillie Grace ROBISON. (The record spells the last name as ROBINSON)
Then, I have a record of the birth of Herbert Eldon AUBLE, in Las Vegas, San
Miguel County, New Mexico, on December 16, 1911. His parents are George Wesley
Andrew AUBLE and Lillie Grace ROBISON. The baby was stillborn and the mother
died two days later.
Their bodies were taken back to Geetingsville, Clinton County, Indiana, for
burial. George Wesley Andrew AUBLE was an implement dealer for some time, then
he purchased The Forest Weekly News in Forest, Indiana, and became an editor and
publisher. He was also an electrical contractor in that area. He left New
Mexico, with his family, when he was only five years old. Yet he was there for a
marriage to a girl from Indiana, in 1910.We don't know that he was thereon
December 16, 1911, but his wife had their son there, on that day.
I would like to know; "What connection did George Wesley Andrew AUBLE have with
Las Vegas, San Miguel County, New Mexico, that would draw him and/or his wife
back there, at these two times in their life?" Did Mister AUBLE have other
family still living there? So far as we know, Lillie Grace ROBISON had no ties
to New Mexico, before her marriage to Mister AUBLE. Thank you very much for any
information. Maurice Robison email

BERNAL / VIGIL
A church record for Juan Froylan Bernal (bap. 11-Oct-1827), shows he was
baptized at the church of Jemez. Also, the 1845 Mexican census shows Don Jesus
Maria Bernal, Dona Carmen Gallegos, Juan, and other children, living in Los
Canones de Jemez (p.178/frame 361). This census shows Juan as being
18-years-old. Later censuses take him through two wives before ROSA is
documented as an "Indian servant." Still later she shows up as his wife and
mother of several of his children and living in Upper Las Vegas, San Miguel
County (don't know if marriage took place though).
ROSA raised my mother Emma Vigil in Los Vigiles when her mother, Amelia Bernal
died (1916). Unfortunately, my mother didn't ask too many questions, but she
only knew Rosa to speak Spanish, except for one word "BAS," which Rosa said in
times of frustration. Rosa was also a caregiver/healer in the Los Vigiles
community. Interestingly, Amelia's baptismal record shows Rosa Bernal as her
mother, but does not indicate Juan as her father. That is why I wonder about a
sanctified marriage.
I don't have a "Tree" for Rosa and would like to find her family. There may
have been a sister who hired on as a domestic with her - Cesaria. I question it
somewhat because the census listed Cesaria as "White" in the same home as Rosa
who is listed at "Indian." It is believed that Cesaria first lived in the home
of Manuel Baca and bore him two sons - Tiburcio and Tomas, because these two
boys also show up in the census. Rosa did refer to Cesaria as "Sister" and told
my mother the boys were Cesaria's children.
Any help I can get will be wonderful. My mother is the only living Vigil in her
family (89-years-old) and I'd like to give her this gift. Thanks everyone!

their "parting of the ways" after 12+ years of marriage & why they both insist
they are widowed. Ralph Sr. died in 1931 & Lillian died in Chicago in 1924. On
