Funeral services for Refugillo Aanaya, 71, were held last Saturday at the Silver City Catholic cemetery with the. Rev. Fr. John P. Linnane officiating. The deceased was a native' of Mexico and had resided here for 35 years. He was survived by three sons.

AASER Ema H. Aaser, 94, of Silver City passed away Friday, June 5, at her residence. Graveside funeral services were conducted today at Fort Bayard National Cemetery. Mrs. Aaser was born April 9 1904 in Mott N.D., the daughter Charles Suihovec and Ann Trestik Suihovec, She was married to the late Ivar Aaser, who preceded her in death March 5, l982. Mrs. Aaser is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Bright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Aaser Dr. Ivar L. Aaser, 79, died at his home on March 5. Dr. Aaser was born the son of Ove and Julia Olson Aaser on July 12, 1902 in McVille, N.D. A graduate of the College of Dentistry, Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1926, he retired to Silver City in 1971.He was also a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Ema of Silver City; one brother, Dr. H.H. Aaser of Walker, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews. Rosary recitation was on March 7 in the Curtis-Bright Chapel and Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated the next day in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Monsignor A. Isabel O. Abalos, 82, of Hurley, died Friday, June24 in Fort Bayard Medical Center. She was born July 8, 1900 in Garfield, N.M. the daughter of Jesus Ochoa and Eugenia Barreras Torrez, and resided in the Hurley area for 46 years. She was a member of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church in Hurley. Mrs. Abalos is survived by one daughter, Socorro Beltran of Deming; Six sons, Mike O. and Johnny Abalos of Hurley, Aifredo O. of Bayard Anasacia O. of El Monte, Cal., David O and Edward O of Silver city; 38 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Rosary was recited on June 26, in the Infant Jesus Catholic church. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated June 27. Both services were under the direction of Rev. Fr. Jesus Jimenez. Burial was in the Catholic Cemetery, Hurley. Serving as active pallbearers were Mrs. Abalos' grandsons, Mike Jr., Rudy, Richard E., Pat, Arnold arid Richard s. Abalos. ABALOS Cynthia Elaine Abalos, 53, of Madison, Ala., entered into eternal rest Oct. 26 at her home, with her husband and daughter at her side. She was the beloved wife of Mike Abalos Jr.; mother of David and Michael Dowse of Colorado, and Jannette Dowse of Alabania; stepmother of Frances and Don Custer of Colorado, and Deborah and Jim Coyle of Massachusetts; grandmother four grandchildren; sister of O.J. Bird of Colorado; and daughter-in-law of Mike and Carmen Abalos of Hurley. Funeral services were entrusted to Fairmount Mortuary Chapel of Denver. She will be greatly missed by all her friends and family.

Mrs Mollie Abbott, 77, mother of Mrs. W. L Turner and G. P. Abbott, residing at Hurley, died there last Thursday evening after a brief Illness. The body was sent by the Cox Mortuary to Tàxlin, Tex., for Interment.

George Preston Abbott, age 74, of 115 Santa Rita died Thursday, Aug 18 in Sun Towers hospital, El Paso. He was born June 16, 1909 in Sedan, the son of Alver and Mollie Abbott ant resided in t Ii is area for 44 years. Abbott as a pipe fitter foreman for Kennecott Copper Mines for 20 years, retiring in 1965. He was- a member of the Baptist Church and attended the Hurley Community Church a member of the Hurley Masonic Lodge No. 55 for years; a life member of New Mexico~ Order of Eastern Start Hurley Chapter No. 43 and the Grand Cross of color International Order of the Rainbow of Girls. Abbott 'is survived by his wife, Lillian E. Abbott of Hurley; one niece, Rose Mary Adams of Tucson; two nephews, Robert Abbott of Tucson Thurston Abbott with the U.S. Foreign Service. Chapel services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 22 inthe Curtis-Bright Funeral home Chapel under the direction of Rav. Kenneth Schultz of the Hurley Community Church. Graveside services were conducted in the Masonic Cemetery under the direction of the Hurley Masonic lodge No. 55. Serving as pallbearers, were Homer. Young Don Ruttan, Henry Wallis, Edgar Wheat, Odel Fortenberry and Earl Ethenidge. The honorary pallbearers were all Masons and friends, Arrangements by Curtis Bright.

Death Monday at her home in Hurley claimed Mrs. Edna Iva Abbott, 62, wife of George P Abbott, field engineering equipment foreman of China Mines Division. Kennecott Copper Corp. Mrs. Abbott was born in Ozona, Texas and had resided in Hurley for the past 21 years, where she was active in the Order of Eastern Star, the Order of Rainbow for Girls and the Hurley Community Church Surviving are her husband, a son, Lewis D. Doney, Casa Grande, Ariz.; three brothers, J. P. Cavin Compton., Calif.; D. C. Cavin, Los Angeles; Nathan T. Cavin, El Paso; two sisters, Mrs. P. H. Goode, Anaheim. Calif., and Mrs Joyce Loper, Hollywood CA two grandchildren, four nieces and three nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Cox Mortuary chapel, the Rev. H. E. Johnson, pastor of the Santa Rita Community Church conducting the rites, with ritualistic services by the Order of Eastern Star. Burial will take place at the Masonic cemetery. Abbott Lillian Ethel Abbott, 78, a resident of Hurley, passed away Monday at Gila Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Abbott was born in Elgin, Okla., and was a longtime resident of San Diego. She was employed by Southwestern Bell, retiring after 42 years with the company. She married G. P. Abbott and moved to Hurley. Mrs. Abbott was active in Eastern Star for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, G.P. Abbott. Survivors include a niece, Mary Alice Taylor of Beaumont, Texas, and a nephew, Frank Skrdle of Tulsa, Okla. Graveside services will be held at the Masonic Cemetery Saturday at 3 p.m. Family members selected Curtis-Bright Funeral Home to serve them. Abell Gwendoline Foulke Abell, 72, of Washington, D.C. died at her home on March 1, 1981. Mrs. Abell was the sister of Gladys C. Hodge, long time owner of the XSX Ranch on the East Fork of the Gila who died in 1975. She was a frequent visitor to the area and was a partner with her sister in the XSX Ranch during the early 1960's. Mrs. Abell's survivors include her husband, George Abell,a resident of Washington and a former assistant protocol chief at the State Dept.; two sons, Albert and Chauncey Dewey, both of Washington, two half brothers, Charles Levier of Ajaccio, Corsica and Jean Jerome Levier of Paris, France; three nephews Andrew Hodge of Tucson, Edward Hodge of Denver, and Hugh Hodge of Silver City, and six grandchildren.

Frank Dees Abercrombie, 67, of Roswell passed away Thursday in a Roswell hospital. He was born Nov. 3, 1924, in Tucumcari to Robert C. and Nellie Ayler Abercrombie. He married Billye Sue Tyson on July 17, 1951, in El Paso, Texas. Mr. Abercrombie was a member of the First Baptist Church. He held a Bachelor of Science degree in range science from Utah State University. Mr. Abercrombie worked for the Soil Conservation Service in Roswell from 1951-57 and then worked for the U.S. State Department from 1959 until 1978. He served as range management adviser in the Republic of Somalia, Northern Nigeria, Ethiopia and Kenya. He was a member of the board of directors of the Chaves Soil and Water Conservation District from 1979 until his death. Mr. Abercrmbie is survived by his wife, Billye Sue Abercrombie; a son, Frank Ty Abercrombie of Las Cruces; two brothers, Robert Abercrombie and his wife, Mary Ida, of Silver City, and Howard Harve Abercrombie and wife, Juanita, of Tucumcari; and a sister, Majorie Wilson and her husband, John, of Lovington. He is also survived by three sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; eight nieces; and three nephews. Service were to be held at 2 this afternoon at LaGrone Funeral Chapel in Roswell. Interment was to follow at South Park Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites. Pallbearers were to be Dan Abercrombie, Bill Bonham, Mike Corn, John Joe Harvey, Lonnie Ashcraft, LeRoy Lang and Tom Schwalbe. Abercrombie; Johnny E. Abercrombie, of Troy, Ala., died at the Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City. Mr. Abercrombie was born September19, 1909 in Pike County, Ala., the son of Malone and Amanda Westbrook Abercrombie. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Troy. Survivors include his wife, Betty, a daughter, Glenda Gunter, a son, Thomas Wayne Abercrombie, all of Troy; four sisters, Maggie Macon of Troy; Sara Raney of Columbus, Ga.; Bessie Wade of Phoenix City, Ala.; and Katie Westle of Ringo, Ga. one brother, Jessie Abercrombie of Columbus, Ga.; and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held in Troy, Ala. under the direction of the Dillard Funeral Home in Troy. Local arrangements were by the Curtis-Bright Funeral Home.

Abercrombie Robert Ayler Abercrombie, 71, a prominent Grant County resident and rancher, died at his home in White Signal on Friday. Visitation will be held this afternoon from 3 to 5 at Baca's Funeral Chapels and the funeral service will begin at 10 Wednesday morning at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jesse Liles, pastor, officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery, where veteran's honors will be accorded by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3347 and Ailingham-Goiding Post 18 of the American Legion. He was born Feb. 16, 1923, in Norton, N.M. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army as a member of the Tank Corps under Gen. George Patton. On Aug. 22, 1948, he married Mary Ida Prevost in Silver City. Thirty years ago, he moved to the area from Santa Fe. He was active in ranching and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Silver City and Tyrone Lodge No. 52 of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons. He was a past master of the lodge and past patron of Tyrone Order of Eastern Star No. 41. For many years, he was active with area 4-H clubs and the Future Farmers of America alumni as well as the Cliff/Gilafair, serving as a board member. He had served as a member of the Grant County Council of Governments, and Grant County Soil and water Conservation Board, the New Mexico Conservation Association and was a commissioner of the New Mexico Soil and Water Commission. He was also past president of the New Mexico Conservation Association and the New Mexico Range Society. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ida Abercrombie of the home, three daughters, Donna Bussey and her husband, Lloyd, and Jeanne Jones and her husband, Mike, of White Signal, and Olinell Smith and her husband, Twister, of Caballo, a brother, Howard Abererombie, and his wife, Juanita, of Tucumcari; a sister, Maijorie Wilson, and her husband, John, of Lovington; five grandchildren, Tancee Bussey, Danna Stockton, Shandree and Cort Smith, and Brandon Jones; a great-grandson, Koye Jones; a sister-in-law, Billye Sue Abercrombie of Roswell; and numerous nieces and nephews. Candida Acosta Abeyta, 83, died Wednesday, April 2O at Hillcrest General Hospital. She was born in San Buena Ventura, Mexico on Oct. 3, 1901 and moved to Silver City when' she was 14 years old. She is survived by four sons, Danny and Ray Abeyta of Silver City Franklin Abeyta of Tucson and Pete Abeyta of Riverside, Calif.; three daughters, Veronica Driggers of Tucson, Lucy Vega' and.Jose Abeyta of Silver City; a brother. Tomas Acosta of El Paso; two sisters, Maria Gutierrez of Juarez, Mexico and Pilar Gonzales' of Casas Grandes, Mexico, a nephew, Escusebio Abeyta of Silver City; and a niece, Adela Hernandez of Tucson; and many more nieces and nephews. Abeyta Funeral services were held Monday for Marcus Acosta Abeyta, 16-year-old Silver City boy who died Saturday, Feb. 2, from injuries sustained in a fall from the Sixth St. footbridge. The funeral mass was held at 9 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church with the Rev. Fr. John P. Linnane officiating. At 4 pm.; interment was made in the Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Cox Mortuary. Marcus, the son of Mrs. Candida Acosta Abeyta, was born in Silver City and had lived here all his life. He was especially popular among a large circle of friends and known for his friendly and jovial disposition. The attendance at the funeral was noted as one of the largest ever in the St. Vincent de Paul Church. Survivors, in addition to the mother are four brothers, Danny, Ray, Frank, and Pete Abeyta and three sisters, Mrs Veronica Gonzales, Las Cruces, and Lucy and Josefa Abeyta of Silver City.

Mrs. Juana Abeyta Armendariz, 18, died at her residence in Silver City Saturday evening. Mrs Armendariz was a native of Deming, and had lived in Silver City most of 'her life. Survivors include a brother Bäsilio Abeyta of El Paso, Tex; several nieces and nephews, including Eusébio Abeyta, of Silver City. Rosary was said in the Curtis Bright Chapel at '8 p.m. Monday with the funeral Mass being recited at, St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church at 930 a.m. Tuesday. Interment followed in the Catholic Cemetery with the Rev, Fr. A. James Milana Officiating.

ABEYTA Rachel Perez Abeyta, 53, of Hoquiam, Wash., formerly of Silver City, entered into eternal rest Friday, March 13, at Providence St. Peter's Hospital in Olympia, Wash., after a five-year battle with cancer. Services will be held Sunday at 7 p.m. at Cedar Hills Tabernacle in Silver City. The furneral service will be held Monday morning at 10 at Cedar Hills Tabernacle. Perez and Maria Almanza Perez. She grew up in Hanover and graduated from Cobre High School in 1964. She was a homemaker and a member of Cedar Hills Tabernacle. She enjoyed hiking in the mountains. Mrs. Abeyta was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, auntie and friend. She is survived by her companion of five years, Phil Jug Krimbel of Hoqulam; four sons, Benjamin Abeyta and his companion, Gina Baca, of Bayard, Jonathan Abeyta and his wife, Elva, of Aberdeen, Wash., Matthew Abeyta and his wife, Melissa, of Silver City, and Jeremy Abeyta and his companion, Kathy Baca, of Aberdeen; five brothers, Moises Perez of West Coyi, Calif., Mike Perez of Silver City, Abraham Perez of Hanover, Danny Perez of Santa Clara and Thomas Perez Sr. of Silver City; sisters, Nena Tovar of La Puente, Calif., Martha Parra of Bayard, Becky Sanchez of Silver City, Ruth Collins of Silver City and Mary Eva Arguijo of Silver City; 17 grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Abeyta, in 1991, and by her father, mother, and three brothers. Abeyta Catherine Abeyta, 15, died Monday, June 15, as a result of injuries received in an auto accident. She is survived by her parents, Francisco and Helen Abeyta, two sisters, Mrs. Sally Rodriguez, Miss Anna Maria Abeyta, all of Silver City, one brother, Gilbert F. Abeyta, stationed with the Air Force in Blytheville, Arkansas, maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Vargas, and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Easevio Abeyta, all of Silver City. Rosary recitation will be 730 p.m. Friday and Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday. Both services are to be in Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Catholic Cemetery. Abeyta Eusebio Q. Jumbo Abeyta, 49, a lifelong Silver City resident, entered life eternal Saturday in El Paso, Texas. He was born May 28, 1942. Mr. Abeyta was a member of the Cedar Hills Tabernacle. He was a miner. Calling hours were to be from 2-4 today in Baca's Hillcrest Funeral Chapels, where the rosary was to be recited. The evening prayer service will be held today at 7 in the Cedar Hills Tabernacle, where the funeral service will be held Wednesday morning at 10. The Rev. Thomas Perez will officiate both services. ABEYTA Eusebio L. Abeyta, 82, a lifelong resident of Silver City, passed away Friday at Gila Regional Medical Center. He was born March 3, 1914, to Santiago and Hilaria Lope in Silver City. Mr. Abeyta retired as a furnace man for Kennecott, Copper Corp.an was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Magdalena, of the home; two sons, Ruben Abeyta and his wife, Susie, of Silver City and Frank Abeyta and his wife, Juanita, of Silver City; two daughters, Natalia Catasus and her husband, Ralph, of West Covina, Calif., and Ylaria Pino of Silver City; one sister, Betty Aragon of Silver City; 28 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Jumbo Abeyta. in 1991; a grandson, Chon Pino, in 1987; and a granddaughter, Cathy Abeyta, in 1978. Visitation will start at 5 p.m. today at Baca's Funeral Chapels, followed by the rosary at 7 with Deacon Johnny Perez reciting. Mrs. Augusta Levy Abraham, 95, Silver City's oldest pioneer resident1 who came here in 1886, passed away last Saturday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Esther Lamb; 402 W. Sixth Street Born in New York City, May 1, 1864, she married Louis Abraham in Chicago, May 14, 1882, and came West with 'her husband that year, locating in Clifton, Ariz, where he secured employment as a brakeman on a narrow gauge ore twin operating between Clifton and Metcalf, Ariz. In 1886 the Abraham family moved to Silver City where Mr. Abraham first lived at the age of 13 and. then returned to make it his permanent home. It is recalled that for many years, Mr. and Mrs. Abraham owned and operated the Southern Hotel, which in its heyday was Silver City's largest and finest hotel and the center of community social activity. The Abraham family had a part In shaping the future destinies of Silver City and contributed mush to the town's early-day development and progress as a mining and livestock center. In her later years, Mrs. Abraham had 'the constant and loving care of her daughter, where she made her home, and of her son, Ned Abraham, of Long Beach, Calif., who made frequent visits to his mother. Besides the daughter and son, other surviving members of the family are two granddaughters, Mrs. Charles Lockhart, Hurley, and Mrs. Odie McKnight, Long Beach; a great grandson, Gary, McKnight and two granddaughters, Cherie Lee and Nannette Lockhart. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Cox Mortuary chapel at 3 p.m. The rites were conducted by the Rev. Ernest Berkeley of the Burley Community Church. Soloist at the services was 'Mrs. Fred Walker, accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Don G. Pierson. Serving as pallbearers were Leo Schiff, Eugene Brunell, Fred Mrotzek, John W. Fleming, Walter Wilson , and Sidney Curtis. Honorary pallbearers were Julius Schwarz, Harry Bassett, Sam Phoenix, Max Schiff, Robert Jackson, Sr., and Rev. Fred F. Darley. Interment took place in 'the family burial plot in the Masonic cemetery.

Corporal Ned Abraham, Jr., who died' In a Japanese prison camp in Manchuria found his final resting place in the hills his childhood home here Wednesday when his remains were laid at rest in the Masonic cemetery. His body was returned to the United States from Manchuria last week and arrived in Silver City Tuesday, accompanied by M-Sgt. E. Allen of San Francisco, who remained in Silver City for the Services Cpl. Abraham was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ned Abraham of Silver City and was born and reared here. He was a member of the ill-fated 200th AAA and was taken prisoner by the Japs at the tall of Corregidor. Rev. H. L. Gedcles officiated at the services at the Cox Mortuary Chapeland the American Legion conducted the services at the grave. Pallbearers were John and Jim Flemming, Howard Mann, Frank Motzek, and Walter Johnson.

Death last Saturday in Long Beach, Calif., claimed Ned Abraham, 79, a pioneer resident of Silver City and member of the prominent early day Abraham family. Born in Clifton, Arizona, Mr. Abraham came to Silver City in his youth, being a son of Mr. and Mrs. Louie Abraham, who for many years owned and operated the historic Southern Hotel, which in its heyday was one of New Mexico's famous luxury hotels and the social center of Southwest New Mexico. Following the death of his parents, Mr. Abraham Inherited this hotel property which he managed for many years until It's sale some years ago to Joe Landrum of Silver City. Within the past year the hotel, constructed in 1878, was sold and the ancient structure was razed. It was one of the community's remaining landmarks. Following his retirement some years ago, Mr. Abraham moved to Long Beach. However, he made annual trips to Silver City to look alter property holdings he had here and to visit his mother, the late Mrs. Augusta Abraham, who passed away October 3, 1959. Throughout his life, Mr. Abraham maintained an interest in Silver City and kept up contact with a wide circle of friends In this community. Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Esther Bud, Long Beach; a grandson, and a niece, Mrs. Leah Lockart, Sacramento, Calif., and his sister, Mrs. Harry W. Lamb, the former Essie Abraham, Silver City.

Abram Mrs. Lottie Barnes received word Wednesday of the death of Morris Abram, 78, member of a pioneer Silver City family. He passed away in Santa Fe from a heart attack. He had served as a warden of the State Penitentiary and as a member of the State Parole Board. He spent his boyhood in Silver City where he attended school, and for some yeas was engaged in the management of hotels in California. Surviving are his wife; a sister, Mrs. Essie Copp, Albuquerque; and a nephew, Franklin Copp. Other relatives here are Mrs. Barnes and Mrs. Esther Lamb.

Abreu Charles B. Abreu, 80, a resident of Fort Bayard and formerly of North Hurley, entered life eternal Wednesday at Fort Bayard Medical Center. He was born Aug. 16, 1912, in Raydado, N.M., to the late Ramon and Gertrude Brown Abreu. He was an equipment operator for the New Mexico Highway Department prior to retirement. Mr. Abreu was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Eva A. Abreu; a son, John Abreu of Hanover; a brother, Raymond Abreu of California; three sisters, Louise LaVato of Santa Cruz, N.M., Delia Casous of Mora, and Ramona C. Acedo; Enrique (Henry) A. Acedo, 76, died Tuesday evening in Silver City.Mr. Acedo was born in Douglas, Az, but was a resident of Grant County for several years. He was a member of the Bayard Church ofChrist, Disabled American Veteran, American G.I. Forum, was Staff Sergeant during World War II, receiving the Silver Star and Purple Heart. Mr. Acedo is survived by his wife, Ramona Acedo of Central, one daughter, Estella Hernandez of La Puente, Calif., four sisters, Dolores Barron of Ventura, Calif., Maria Calderon of Indio, Calif., Lupe Orterga of Calipatria, Calif., Emma Ordunio of Cochella, Calif., and two grandchildren. Evening services were held at the Wheeler Funeral Home Chapel and Funeral graveside services were held at the Fort Bayard National Cemetery with Miguel Bustillos officiating both services and Allingham-Golding Post No. 18, conducting graveside military honors. Serving as pallbearers were Tony Luna, Macario Chavez, David Sosaya, Eddie Cuhen, Adolfo Giron, and Fernando Leyba. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Cuhen, and Tranquilino Lopez. Funeral services for James Ellis Ackerman were held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the First Christian church with the Rev. L. Wilmer Van Auken officiating. Burial was in the family plot at Mountain View Cemetery under the direction of Mahoney Mortuary.

Mr. Ackerman, who died early Friday morning just two days before his 62nd birthday, was born Dec. 5, 1892 at Mound City. Mo. When he was still a small child his parents moved to Gucydon, La. He learned mechanics by working with his father, and later he went into business with his father and brother. He came to Deming 41 years ago and at the time of his death, he and his partner Harry Osborn, owned the Deming Motor Co. Three years after he came to Deming; Mr. Ackerman and Miss Naoma Tabor of Las Cruces were married in Deming. Their son, Ellis James Ackerman, Jr., who was born Nov. 20, 1920, was killed in a plane accident in Florida during World War II. Mr. Ackerman served as city councilman for 12 years and for four years served as a county commissioner for Luna County until recently he held offices in the Christian Church where he was a member. At one time he was a member of the local Odd Fellows Lodge Survivors include his wife, Mrs. J. E Ackerman of 400 S. Copper Ave., his brother, George F. Ackerman of Coolidge, Ariz., four nephews and five nieces living in New Mexico. Arizona and Oregon. Funeral services for James Ellis Ackerman were held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the First Christian church with the Rev. L. Wilmer Van Auken officiating. Acklin Mary Elizabeth Denson Acklin, 91, died Monday, Dec. 7 at Ft. Bayard Medical Center. Mrs. Acklin was born July 22, 1890 in Fountain Hill, Ark., the daughter of Luther and Martha Denson and was the last surviving of their nine children. She married William Henry Acklin on April 6, 1921 at the First United Methodist Church in Deming. As a Grant County pioneer, Mrs. Acklin owned and operated the Acklin Store on the Mimbres for over 50 years. Survivors include one son, William Henry Acklin, Jr. of Brisbane, Austrlia; three granddaughters, Cathi Goforth Busby of Alamogordo, Debbie Driscoll of El Paso and Jennifer Acklin of Brisbane, Australia; four grandsons, William Bruce Acklin, Sean Acklin, Michael Acklin and Timothy Acklin, all of Brisbane; and three great-great grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her husband, William Henry Acklin in 1969 and a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Acklin Jordan in 1976. Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Curtis-Bright Chapel with Dr. Joe Emanuel of the Grace United Methodist Church in Alamogordo officiating. Interment followed in Memory Lane. Alphonso P Acosta 43 died last Wednesday at his home in Hurley. He was a retired smelter operator of Chino Mines. Burial was in the Silver City cemetery. A lifelong resident of Grant County, Mr. Acosta was a veteran of Word War II and a member of Mineral Pest of the American Legion. He 'is survived by his mother. Mrs. Octaviana P. Arosta of Hurley; three brothers; Rufus of Hurley, Arnold of Arenas Valley, and-Edward of Silver City; a daughter Beatrice; and five sisters. Dee Acosta, 44, a World War II veteran and former resident of Glenwood, died Sunday in Vallejo, Calif. He was a son of Mrs. Manuel Acosta of Glenwood. A brother, Joe Acosta of Silver City, left 'for California to attend the funeral services.

Eliseo B. Acosta, 52, resident of Reserve where he was employed by the Catron County Road Dept., died Saturday. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Sam Trujillo, Reserve, and Mrs. Walter Hill, Clovis; his mother, Mrs. M. B. Acosta, Reserve; six grandchildren;' five brothers, Joe Acosta, Silver City; Rocky Acosta, Morenci, Aria; Frank Acosta, Los Angeles; Mike Acosta, Glenwood; Ysidro Acosta, Phoenix, and three sisters, Mrs. Eph Spurgeon, Glenwood; Mrs. Joe Martinez, El Paso, and Mrs. Isabel Sloan, Morenci. Rosary services were held Sun. day at the Reserve Catholic Church, followed by mass Monday morning, with burial following in the Reserve cemetery.

Emillo N. Acosta, 58, was accidentally killed when his automobile overturned in Hurley pinning him beneath it at about 815 a. m. Monday. The automobile, which struck Mr Acosta was driving at a very moderate rate of speed, apparently struck a soft Shoulder and rock at the same time and turned over. He was taken to the Santa Rita Hospital and died Monday afternoon at 430.Mr. Acosta was an employee of the Santa Rita Store Co. at Hurley, where he had worked for 2 years. He is survived by his wife, Octaviana, and nine children; Mrs. W. L. Avilucia of Hurley, Mrs. M. L. Salaiz and Mrs. Wm. Tarazon, both of Los Angeles; Josephine and Clorincia of Hurley; and four sons, Rufus, Aifonso, Arnold and Edward, all of Hurley. Mr. Acosta was a charter member of the Alianza Hispano Americana Lodge No. 17 of Silver City. Funeral services will he a Requiem High Mass at the Hurley Catholic' Church at 900 this morning.

ACOSTA Francisco C. Acosta, 78, died Monday, Feb. 2, at the Life Care Center in Sierra Vista, Ariz. Mr. Acosta was born March 9, 1919, in Shakespeare to Bernabe Acosta and Dolores Casares Acosta. He was raised in New Mexico. He was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II with Gen. George Patton's 3rd Army with the 2828 Combat Engineers. After the service, he moved to Bisbee, Ariz., and worked for Phelps Dodge Corp. as a miner until retiring July 1, 1975. Mr. Acosta was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 638 and American Legion Post No. 16. He was in avid pool player. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cecilia Serna Acosta, on June 26, 1985. ACOSTA Joe B. Acosta, 85, a longtime Silver City resident, passed away Thursday at University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque. Visitation will begin at 4 this afternoon at Baca's Funeral Chapels followed by the prayer vigil at 7. Deacon Bill Holguin will preside. Mass of the resurrection will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 10 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Father John Colgan officiating. The concluding service and interment will follow at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery. He was born Jan. 13, 1912, in Ruidoso, Texas, to Dario Acosta and Manuela Brito. On Aug. 28, 1937, he married Julia Lopez at St. Vincent's in Silver City and moved here in 1939. He was a communicant of the Roman Catholic Church. Mr. Acosta was a businessman and was also involved with real estate sales. He owned and operated the Buffalo Bar until his retirement. His family includes his wife, Julia L. Acosta of the home; a son, Edward J. Acosta, and his wife, Lucy, of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Irene Sanchez and her husband, Serafin, of Pacifica, Calif., and Emma Morales and husband, Alfred, of Silver City; a brother, Mike Acosta, and his wife, Nora, of Glenwood; three sisters, Pearl Spurgeon of Glenwood, Marcella Martinez and her husband, Joe, of El Paso, Texas, and Isabel Sloan of Douglas, Ariz.; and six grandchildren Jeanette Conn, Joseph and Robert Acosta, Derrick Morales, Julie Gonoz and Rebecca Morales. Death on Sunday claimed Jose Acosta, 80, a retired long-time resident of Silver City, who passed away in Hillcrest Hospital. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Altagracla Acosta; two sons, Concepcion , of Anaheim, Calif, and Bernardo, Silver City; two daughters, Mrs. Isabel Garcia, Silver City and Mrs. Lupe Torres, Arrey, N. M.; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. ACOSTA Julia L. Acosta, 81, a longtime Silver City resident, passed away Sun-day, Nov. 8, at University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque. She was born in Morenci, Ariz., on Feb. 16, 1917, to Eufemia Lopez and Ignacio Aja. On Aug. 28, 1937, she married Joe B. Acosta at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Silver City. She was a communicant of the Roman Catholic Church. Mrs. Acosta was a homemaker, and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her hobbies included needlework, canning, sewing and quilting. Visitation was held Wednesday afternoon at Baca's Funeral Chapels. The prayer vigil followed. Deacon Bill Holguin recited the holy rosary. Mrs Antonia C Acosta, 65, a former resident of Silver City, who had lived the past 12 years in Lakewood, Calif., died Jan. 23; at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Loreflzo Barrios.Besides Mrs. Barrios other daughter survive and two sons. She was an aunt of Mrs. Leonardo Treviso, Mrs. Willie Luera, and Mrs. Lukie Madrid of Silver City. Mr. and Mrs. Treviso left for California Monday to attend the funeral.

Mrs Antonia C Acosta, 65, a former resident of Silver City, who had lived the past 12 years in Lakewood, Calif., died Jan. 23; at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Loreflzo Barrios. ACOSTA Nora Dominguez Acosta, a lifetime Grant County resident, passed away Thursday, Dec. 26, at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque surrounded by her loving family. Visitation was held at 6 p.m. Monday at Baca's Funeral Chapels. The prayer vigil followed at 7, led by Alex Acosta. The funeral liturgy was to be celebrated this morning at 10 at St. Francis Newman Center, with His Excellency Bishop Ricardo Ramirez, CSB, presiding. Concluding services and interment followed at the San Lorenzo Cemetery. She was born Feb. 8, 1939, in San Lorenzo to Joe B. and Amalia (Torrez) Dominguez. On April 9, 1959, she married Sam Acosta at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Silver City. She graduated from Silver High School, received her degree in education at Western New Mexico University. Schools, where she taught for 25 years. She was an active member and communicant at St. Francis Newman Center. Surviving is her husband, Sam Acosta of the family home in Silver City; two daughters. Anna Acosta Estrada and husband, Antonio Estrada, of Dal las, and Deborah Acosta Conder and husband, Carl Conder, of Houston; mother, Amalia Molly Dominguez of San Lorenzo; sister, Josephine Cochrane, and husband, Dan, of California; and three grandchildren, Gabriel and Sara Estrada and Vincent Conder. Acosta Octaviana P, 93, died Saturday evening in fort Bayard. Mrs Acosta was born in Pinos altos to Eban S and Maria Medina Porter. She had been a resident of Hurly for the past 62 years and a communicant of the Infant Jesus Catholic church. Mrs Acosta is survived by five daughters, Emilita Avilucea of Hurley, Octavia Kramer of Santa Anna CA, Gloria Tarezon of San Gabriel CA, Clorinda Carillo of Bayard and Josephine Dominquez of Bayard. Three sons, Rufus Acosta of Hurley, Arnold Acosta of Grand Junction CO, and Edward P Acosta of Hurley; 19 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emilo N Acosta in 1947, and a son Alfonso Acosta in 1961. Rosary recetation will be held tonight and mass of the resurrection will be celebrated at 10am Tuesday. Both services will be held in the Infant Jesus Catholic church. The Rev Benito Suen will officiate. Internment will follow in the Silver City cemetery. ACOSTA Refugia Acosta, 89, died Wednesday at her residence in Silver City. Mrs. Acosta was born in Chihuahua, Mexico, and had been a resident of Si!ver City for years. She was a communicant of Saint Vincent's Catholic Church and was a member of the Guadalupanas and Silver senior Citizens. ACOSTA Richard G. Acosta Sr., 78, died Friday at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque. Cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Baca's Funeral Chapel handled arrangements. Acosta was born Oct. 11,1920, in Deming. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in World War II. He was later employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 39 years. Survivors include his wife, Nellie J. Acosta; son, Richard Acosta Jr.; daughters, Esther Pereira, Doris Acosta, Ruth Marie Acosta and Mary Jane Jackson, all of Deming, and daughter Sylvia Acosta Abril of El Paso; brothers, Pete G. Acosta Alberto Acosta, 72, passed away Saturday, April 22, at Fort Bayard Medical Center. Mr. Acosta was a lifelong resident of Grant County. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Octaviana Acosta of Hurley, a brother Agustine Acosta of Silver City and several nieces and nephews. Acosta Angel Ace Romero Acosta, 48, passed away Wednesday, Nov. l6 in Munich, Germany, following an illness. Born in Lordsburg on May l4, l940, he attended schools in Santa Rita and Bayard and attended Cobre High School two years. He joined the U.S. Air Force on May l4, l957, and retired as a master sergeant in October l977. During his career in the Air Force he served tours in the Mediterranean, throughout Europe, the Pacific, the Orient, the Middle East, and three tours in Southeast Asia. He was a combat electronic warfare specialist serving aboard reconnaissance aircraft. He saw extensive action in the Middle East, in Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and in the Republic of Vietnam. Following his retirement he spent the last ll years working throughout Europe and the Middle East as a field representative for various U.S. defense contractors. One of his assignments was in Teheran, Iran, where he spent four years up until the time of the revolution. He had also worked with the Israeli Defense forces in Tel Aviv, Israel, and had been assigned in Munich, Germany for the last six years. He earned his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from Bellevue College in Omaha, Neb., in l973, in Spanish, Sociology and Latin American studies. He was a consultant in linguistics. Survivors are his wife, Debbie G. Acosta of Tampa, Fla.; one daughter, Concepcion Carmen Acosta of Tampa; one stepdaughter, Belen Gilbert of Tampa; one stepson, Jose Gilbert, serving with the U.S. Navy in South Carolina; his mother, Carmen R. Acosta of Silver City; two sisters, Yolanda R. Acosta of Los Angeles, Calif.; and Miss David Stockhaus of Fort Campbell, Ky.; and two brothers, Robert M. Acosta of Punta Rincon, Puerto Rico, and Rafael Acosta of Silver City; four nephews, Steven and Michael Stockhaus of Fort Campbell, Ky., and Rafael Angel and Adam R. Acosta of Silver City; and by many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, Benjamin R. Vigil, in l985. Mr. Acosta was known for his love, kindness, warmth, concern for others, and especially for his quick wit and sense of humor. A memorial service has been scheduled for2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23 in the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C., where arrangements are pending.

Acosta Augustine P. Tino Acosta, age 69, passed away Saturday, June 20 in the Fort Bayard Medical Center. He was born February 15, 1912 in Silver City the son of Jose and Maria Medina Acosta and lived here all of his life. He was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Connie Garza of San Antonio, Tex.; four sons, Sam Acosta of Los Angeles, Alex Acosta of San Manuel, Ariz., and Eddie Acosta of Denver, Colo.; one sister, Mrs. Octaviana Acosta of Hurley; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Acosta Concepcion V. Acosta, a former Silver City resident, passed away on Monday, March 23 in Anaheim, Calif. He is survived by his wife, Cecilia S. Acosta of Anaheim; two sons, Concepcion Acosta and Jose S. Acosta, both of California; two granddaughters, and five grandsons, all of California.

Acosta Doris M. Acosta, 52, a Silver City resident, entered into eternal rest Wednesday at her home. Mrs. Acosta, a homemaker, was born May 17, 1942 in Sant Rita to John N. and Margorie Davis Ballantine. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Leon. She is survived by her stepfather, Walter Pasco of Silver City. At her request, cremation has taken place with Mimbres Crematorium and no other services are scheduled. Acosta; Joe Moreno Acosta, 77, died April 28 in Silver City. Mr. Acosta was born in Santa Rita and was a lifelong resident of Grant County. He was a communicant of the Catholic Church. Acosta Leon Acosta, 56, a resident of Silver City, passed away Monday at Gila Regional Medical Center. He was born July 20, 1937, to Roque B. and Velma C. (Hamilton) Acosta in Alma. He was a musician, having played lead guitar for Meredith Neal and The Boot Hill Boys. On July 12, 1976, he married Doris Pascoe in Deming. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved children. He was a member of the Silver City Elks Lodge. Mr. Acosta was employed at Chino Mines as a crane operator and retired after 30 years of service. Acosta, and his wife, Betty, of Duncan, Ariz; his father-in-law, Sonny Pascoe of Silver City; three nieces, Amanda Garcia and her husband, Rick, of Silver City, Lynn Madrigal and her husband, Tony, of Duncan, and Patricia Arnold Benson of Salem, Ore.; two nephews, Mike Acosta of Duncan and James Arnold and his wife, Tracy, of Salem; four great-nephews; and four great-nieces. Acosta Vincent Edward Acosta, 19, a graduate of Cobre High School and a former resident of Bayard, died Jan. 1 in Orange, Calif. He was born Sept. 15, 1970. Services were held Jan. 3 in La Purisima Catholic Church in Orange, and burial followed in the Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange. ACOSTA Aflrelo Morales Acosta, 75, a longtime Deming resident, died Wednesday at Mimbres Memorial Hospital. Visitation will be from 2-5 this afternoon at Baca's Funeral Chapels in Deming and the prayer vigil will begin at 7 at St. Ann's Catholic Church. The funeral liturgies will he celebrated Saturday morning at 11 at St. Ann's Catholic Church. The Rev. He was born July 3,1920, in Anthony to Candelario Acosta and Justina Morales Acosta. Mr. Acosta was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving his country from October 1941 and being honorably discharged Nov. 11, 1945, at Fort Bliss Texas. He was a Deming resident since 1951, having previously lived in Anthony. He farmed in Deming since 1951 in the Lewis Flats area and was a member of the American Legion and St. Ann's Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Lupe Acosta of the home; three sons, Alfredo Acosta Jr. and Manuel Acosta, both of Deming, and Aliredo Montancz of Anthony; three daughters, Mary Salazar of Albuquerque, and Martha Valticrra and Sylvia Valtierra, both of Deining;16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was married to Concepcion V Acosta, who preceded her in death on March 23, 1987She was also preceded in death by two infant children, a daughter, Christina Acosta, and a son, Thomas Acosta; her mother, Rosa Sierra Sepulveda; her father, Adolfo Parra Sepulveda; two brothers, Henry and Eusebio Sepulveda; and two sisters, Vickie and Teodora Sepulveda. He was a member of the well-known Acuna family and had been engaged for many years in mining operations at Tyrone. ADAMS Lucile K. Adams, 80, a longtime Silver City resident, entered eternal life Tuesday at Homestead Adult Shelter. She was born March 19, 1917, in Torrance County, Texas, to the late Amos and Martha (Lamb) Kolb. She was a retired nurse. Visitation was held this morning at Church of God of Prophecy in Albuquerque. A graveside service was held at noon at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque laid to rest. Survivors include a daughter, Marjorie Munden, and her husband, Gary, of Cimarron; a brother, Bud KoIb, and his wife, Ruth, of Michigan; and two sisters, Gertrude Rockenbaugh of Tucumcari and Lola Masters of Denver. ADAMS Theora Pearl Adams, 102, last surviving daughter of Henry Ailman, died at 1255 a.m. today from pneumonia in Santa Monica, Calif. Mrs. Adams was born in the house which is now the Silver City Museum, to Harry B. and Theora Ailman. She left New Mexico when she was about 14 years old. Survivors include her daughter Theora Mary Adams; a grandson,, Kenneth; a granddaughter, Becky Adams; two great-granddaughters, Dawn and Cheryl; and a great-great-granddaughter. Jessica Geer, all of California. At her request, no services are planned. She is to be cremated and her ashes will be scattered.

William A. (Bill) Adams, pioneer Southwestern rancher and motel operator, died Tuesday in an El Paso hospital after a lingering illness. He was 80 and pioneer retired rancher of the Southwest. His far-flung operations included ownership at one time of the 200,000.acre GOS Ranch, 45 miles northeast of Silver City, and the 105,000acre Beaverhead Ranch also known as the Slash Linch 49 miles north of the GOS property, bought from the Evan Brothers. He also owned ranching property in Texas and, near Haichita, and was a dealer in registered bulls. In 1939 he proposed setting up a cattle trading center in El Paso. Surviving are two sons. W A Adams, Jr., and Calvin Adams. Also surviving are five children, in El Paso, and a sister Mrs. Margaret Kampmann San Antonio, Texas.

Adams Lillian J. Adams, for more than 10 years a resident of Novato, Calif., died Friday, July 19, at her home in Mill Valley, Calif. Mrs. Adams was 89. At her request, no services were held. Mrs. Adams was born Sept. 13, 1901, in Fremont, Neb. She grew up in the railroad town of Chadron, Neb., and was a graduate of Chadron College. She went on to earn her master's degree at Teachers College in Silver City. She taught school for several years in Nebraska and Wyoming before settling in the mining community of Santa Rita. She taught in Santa Rita for 29 years. She was a painter who created desert landscapes and still lives in oils and watercolors. Mrs. Adams and her husband, Fred A. Adams Sr., moved to Hemet in Riverside County, Calif., in 1957. Mr. Adams died in 1977. Two years later, Mrs. Adams went to Novato. Last year, she moved to The Redwoods, a retirement community in Mill Valley. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Novato. Survivors include her stepson, Fred A. Adams Jr. of San Francisco, and several nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews.

ADAMS Paul V. Adams, 71, a resident of Grant County since 1967, passed away Sept. 9 at Gila Regional Medical Center. He was a World War H veteran, enlisting with the U.S. Navy at the age of 17, and served with the naval operations at Pearl Harbor. He was discharged in December 1945. After discharge from the Navy, he went to school to learn his lifelong work in the electronics and pneumatics field. He served 1 7 years with Civil Service at White Sands Missile Range as an electronics technician. Mr. Adams went to work at Phelps Dodge in Tytone in 1969 as journeyman electronics technician and retired in 1988. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion. He was given full military honors a Fort Bayard National Cemetery. He leaves his wife, Virginia, of the home; several cousins; and one special cousin, O. J. Hooks and his wife, Lou, of Hobson, Texas. Bright Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Adams Suvila Belle Adams, 74, died Friday in Fort Bayard. Mrs. Adams had been a resident of Grant County for one year. Buck Adams of Silver City and Lynne R. Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Kasco in 1987 and Billie Jo Burgess in 1976. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fort Bayard National Cemetery. Adkins Iona Lois Adkins, 52, died Tuesday, February 6 in Silver City. Mrs. Adkins was born in Santa Rita and was a life long resident of Grant County. Adkins of Albuquerque, two sisters, Nona Van Cleave of Hurley and Kay Chavez of Deming. Adkins John H. Adkins, 21, employed as a brakeman by the Kennecott Copper Corp., met instant death early Tuesday when he fell from a car on the dump track at the Santa Rita pit mine. It is believed that the victim, a resident of Santa Rita, slipped or stumbled from the car when the brakes were applied to the train. The engineer of the train stated that he stopped the train upon feeling a distinct bump and the crew found the body of Mr. Adkins with one wheel resting upon it. An inquest was held in Santa Rita on Tuesday afternoon with A.H. Farmer acting as coroner. A verdict of accidental death was returned. Mr. Adkins had been employed by Kennecott for a year, going to work shortly after his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army in which he had served three years. He was unmarried. Funeral services will be held at the Santa Rita Community Church on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Harold Johnson, Pastor, officiating. Mineral Post Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3347 will have charge of the graveside services in Santa Rita cemetery where interment will be made. Survivors are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. William H. Adkins Earl Allen Adkins, 78, died Saturday at his home In Silver City, Mr. Adkins was born Jan, 4 1916, in Kress, Texas, to William Robert and Anne Laura Bell Adkins. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He served with the Army Air Force and also the U.S. Air Force. He retired In 1978 from Chino Mines, where he had worked as a drill blast foreman for many years. He was member of the Santa Rita Masonic Lodge, Woodmen of the World and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and rock hunter. Funeral services for Jackson Agee, former Silver Cittian, who died at the home of his daughter in Bakersfield, Calif., May 4, Were held Monday at the Cox Mortuary Chapel at 5p.m., Rev. Fred Darley officiating. The deceased, a member of the Masonic Lodge, was accorded graveside services at the Silver City Masonic Cemetery by members of the local Lodge. Bearers were Don Lusk, C. B. Munroe. Carl Fryrriire, M. S. Candlelio B. Stratton and Jack Borenstein. Jackson Agee was born in Missouri June 15 1868, the son of James Fredrick and Minerva Jackson. He came to Silver City about 50 years ago and became engaged in a partnership operating a drug store. At the time of the founding of the Silver City National Bank he became its president and served in that Capacity until 1924. He founded here, with a brother, Sam Agee, the Agee Drug Store, a firm which, still bears the family name. In late years he had been in business In Tucumcari. Agee Sam W. Agee, a retired U.S. Air Force major general and Silver City native, died Sunday in Philadelphia after a long illness. He was born Sept. 21, 1912 and raised in Silver City, the son of Sam W. and Gertrude Robertson Agee. He attended the New Mexico Military Institute. After a distinguished career in the Air Force he returned as its superintendent, a position he held from 1963-71. He was the first alumnus to become superintendent of NMMI. Upon graduation from the U.S. Military Academy in 1937, Agee was assigned to the field artillery and later transferred to the Army Air Corps, the forerunner of today's Air Force. He was shot down in North Africa in World War II while leading a bombing raid and was captured by the Germans. While being transferred to a prisoner of war camp in Germany he escaped. He was a POW for nine months. General Agee was director of operations for the Air Force at the time of his retirement from the service. He was awarded the Legion of Merit and the Purple Heart in addition to other military honors. He held the rating of command pilot. General Agee was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Ferguson Agee. His survivors include three daughters, Amanda D. Agee of New York City, Susan Agee Kunda of Wayne, Pa. and Pamela D. Agee of Hawaii, and five grandchildren. A son, Robertson, is deceased. Memorial services were held Wednesday at the Gladwyne Presbyterian Church in Gladwyne, Pa. Another service is scheduled for Friday at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Greenwood, Va. Mrs. Agee is buried in the Greenwood cemetery, where the general's ashes will be interred. Memorial services will be held at NMMI after the cadets return from summer vacation. General Agee observed his 80th birthday in September 1992 in Silver City with family and longtime friends from the area and from around the country. His older brother, Walter, now deceased, was also a major general in the Air Force.

AGNEW Robert L. Agnew, 66, a longtime resident of Cliff, entered life eternal Friday at Gila Regional Medical Center. He was born April 26, 1930, in Lamesa, Texas. He was a retired teacher and coach of Brownwood High in Brownwood, Texas. Mr. Agnew was a Korean War veteran, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. AGUILAR Josephine Vasquez Aguilar passed away Wednesday, April 30, at Hill Crest Nursing Home I Butte, Mont. Aguilar Librada A. Aguilar, 71, died Tuesday, March 18, in Hillcrest General Hospital. Miss Aguilar was born in San Lorenzo and had been a life long resident of Grant County where she was a communicant of Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Silver City and a member of the Silver City Senior Citizens Club. She is survived by three sisters, Elisa Aguilar, Elvira Correa and Matilda Madrid all of Silver City, a brother Conrado Aguilar of Silver City and numerous nieces and nephews. Rosary recitation was held Thursday, March 20, at 8 p.m. at the Curtis-Bright Chapel. Mass of the Resurrection was held Friday at 10 a.m. at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Monsignor A. James Milano officiating at both services. Burial followed in the Silver City Catholic Cemetery.

Aguilar Luis A. Aguilar, 45, died here Sept. 30 Mr. Aguilar had been a resident for the past 20 years. He was a retired miner from the Empire Zinc Mine. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Rosa O. Aguilar; four sons, Luis Jr., Apolonio, Arturo and Patricio; two daughters, Miss. Emilia Aguilar and Mrs. Eva Bustillos, all of Silver City. Also surviving are five brothers, Jose of El Paso, Lorenzo, Leopaldo, Ernesto and Abraham of Juarez.; three sisters, Mrs. Amparo Mar, Mrs. Carmen Morales, Mrs. Ma De Jesus Romero, all of Juarez; and his mother, Mrs. Alexandra Aguilar, also of Juarez. Rosary was said in the Curtis-Bright Funeral Chapel Friday at 730p.m.; burial Mass was recited in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Saturday, with the interment following in the Catholic Cemetery. The Rev. Fr. A. James Milano officiated. Casket bearers were Joe Aguilar, Abraham Aguilar, Leopoldo, Aguilar, Ernesto Aguilar, Henry Ortiz and Mike Garcia.

Aguilar; Rafael Aguilar, 46, resident of 414 Santa Rosa St. died at Mimbres Memorial Hospital. He was born March 5, 1938 in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico and came to Deming in 1972. He was a member of the local Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and was a custodian at Mimbres Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Paul Hernandez presided and interment followed at Mountain View Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Martha Aguilar of the home and a son, Dan Aguilar. Pallbearers were Frank Gastelum, Manny Aguilar, Peewee Newton, Todd Rose, Joe Prieto and ALberto Garza. Baca's Wheeler Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Aguilar Rodolpho A. Aguilar, 30, a Silver City resident for the last 11 years, entered life eternal Sunday at his home in Silver City. He was born July 13, 1961. Mr. Aguilar was a member of the Catholic Church, and was a construction worker. Cremation will be by Baca's Mimbres Crematorium. A memorial service will be held ata later date. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Aguilar of Silver City; and a son, Rodolpho Aguilar Jr., and a stepson, Jory Torrez,both of Silver City. He is also survived by his mother, Esperansa Nieves of El Paso, Texas; two brothers, Armando and Juan Aguilar both of El Paso; and two sisters, Amparo and Mirium Aguilar, also of El Paso. Mrs. Frances R. Aguilar 50, of Bayard passed away last Thursday at Hillcrest hospital She was a lifelong resident of Grant County. Survivors 'are her husband, Rosendo Aguilar Bayard; four daughters Mrs. Leonardo Torres, Santa Rita; Mrs Emma and Miss Rosie Aguilar of Bayard and Mrs. Lydia Sandoval of Hollwood CA.; two 'sons, Alieso Aguilar of Bayard~ and Ernesto Aguilar U.S. Army, who flew home to attend the services from his station in France; two sisters; Mrs. Antoniø Mildan, Bayard and Mrs. Soledad Maldonado of Hanover; one brother, Alberto Rodriquez Lorenzo; and four grandchildren Rosary services were held Monday evening at the Curtis Mortuary chapel Mass was said at 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent' de Paul Catholic Church, with burial in the Catholic cemetery.

AGUILERA Natalia Alvo Teran Aguilera, 93, a resident of Silver City Care Center in Silver City for the past 10 years, died Saturday, Dec. 28. Visitation was from 3-430 p.m. Monday at Baca's Funeral Chapels. Rosary ser- vices followed at 6 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, led by Mr. Richard Rodriguez. The funeral liturgy was to be celebrated at 2 this afternoon at Our Lady of Fatima Church, with Father Paulus Kao officiating. The rite of committal and internment followed at the Vanadium Cemetery, where most of her family is buried. Mrs. Aguilera was born Dec. 1, 1909, in Vanadium to Eufemio and Juanita (Montoya) Alvo, She lived in Vanadium, Bayard and Hurley, and for five years in Deming before entering the Silver City Care Center in 1992. She married Apolonio C. Teran in 1934 and after his death, in 1962. She married Cosme Aguilera of Hurley in 1966. She is survived by four sons, Reynaldo Teran and wife, Luz, of Tucson, Ariz., Manuel Teran and wife, Leonor, of Deming, Apolonio Teran and wife, Ruth, of Bayard, and Encarnacion Teran and wife, Ramona, of Bayard; daughter, Magdalena Teran-Aguilera of Bayard; and sister, Abelina Valdez of Winkleman, Ariz. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren; 13 great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Apolonio and Cosme (1974); two young daughters, Valvina and Maria Luisa; one son, Lorenzo (October 1991); three brothers, Agustin. Jose (November 1963) and Adolfo (April 2002); and one sister, Margarita Alvo Gonzales (October 2001). She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Steven Teran, and two great-granddaughters on Feb. 10, 1990. Aguilara; Francisco Aguilera, 85 of Deming, died Jan. 8 in Memorial General Hospital in Las Cruces. He was born July 25, 1887 in Guanajuato, Mexico and came to Deming from Bayard in 1951. He retired from Kennecott in 1958 having been steadily employed since 1910. He was a communicant of St. Ann's Catholic Church. The rosary was held Jan. 11 at the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel and Mass of the Christian Burial was held Jan. 12 at St. Ann's Catholic Church with Fr. Mike Macaya officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Aguilera is survived by his wife, Josefa C. Aguilera at the home two sons, Francisco C. Aguilera of Phoenix and Francisco P. Aguilera of Silver City; three daughters, Ramona Hermosillo of Peoria, Ariz., Juanita Gutierrez of Deming and Lorenza Avena of Phoenix; one sister, Macaria Baca of Deming; 39 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Aguilera Jose Lechuga Che-Che Aguilera, 53, of Bayard died Tuesday at Fort Bayard Medical Center. He was born Dec. 6, 1936 in Faywood and was a lifetime Grant County resident. He was retired from Chino Mines Co., where he worked as a machine operator. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church and was a U.S. Army veteran. AGUILERA Jose Luis Aguilera, 43, a longtime resident of Playas, entered life eternal Saturday morning at his home. He was born Dec. 18, 1953, in Silver City to Francisco and Cruz (Hernandez) Aguilera. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. Aguilera Raul C. Aguilera, 62, a Deming resident, died Friday in the Mimbres Memorial Hospital in Deming. Visitation was today at 2 p.m. in Baca's Funeral Chapels. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. He was born June 3, 1927, in Silver City and was a foreman at the cotton gin in Deming. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. He was a longtime Deming resident and was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church. He is survived by four sons, Eloy Aguilera, Raul Aguilera and Jessie Aguilera, all of Deming and Eddie Aguilera of Phoenix, Ariz.; five daughters, Geraldine A.Perez, Yolanda S. Aguilera, Sylvia Ramirez and Margaret Gonzales, all of Deming, and Linda Chavez Guatemo of Mexico; two brothers, Neto Aguilera of Silver City and Ernesto Aguilera of Hurley; and 11 grandchildren. AGUILERA Manuel Aguilera, 76, a resident of Hurley, entered eternal rest Sunday at his home surrounded by his family. He was born, Dec. 20, 1919, in Deming, the son of Jesus and Chonita Aguilera. `Ho served in the Army during World War H as a tank mechanic, recievingsevera1 awards for his participation in the Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe campaigns. Upon returning home, be went to work for Chino Mines until his retirement in 1975. In retirement devoted himself to his grandchildren and his Pastimes of' hunting, fishing and camping. He is survived by his wife, of 57 years, Josic Aguilera; his sons, Manny Aguilcra of Pico Rivera, Calif., and Gilbert Aguilein of Riverside, Calif.; and two daughters, Yolanda Gonzales and her husband, Patricio, of, Las Cruces, and Thelma Salcido and her husband, Roul of Hurley, He is also survived by his grandchildren Carlos, Chris, and Benigna Salcido, Monica and Jennifer, Gonzales, Michelle Vasqucz, Yvonne Madrid and Angela and Erica Arguilera and five great-grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his brother, Sisto Aguilera, and his sister, Deloras Rodriquez. Visitaiion will be held at 630 pm at the Infant Jesus Church in Hurley followed by the prayer vigil at 7. The mass of the resurrection will be celebrated Thursday afternoon at 1pm at the same church. Burial will follow at Bayard National Cemetery with veterans honor accorded by the area veteran groups. AGUIRRE Arturo A. Aguirre, 81, a resident of Silver City, entered into eternal rest Sunday, July 25, at Gila Regional Medical Center. He was born Jan. 1, 1918, in El Paso, Texas, to Carlos and Zenaida (Andazola) Aguirre. He was employed as a chauffeur at the Fort Bayard Veterans Hospital and. retired in 1963. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a communicant at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Luz Aguirre of Silver City; two sons, Arturo Aguirre Jr. of Silver City, and Thomas Aguirre and his companion, Eva Grijalva, of Silver City; and a daughter, Zenaida, and her husband, Richard D. AGUIRRE Infant Jonathan Andrew Aguirre, 1-day-old son of Jesusita M. Aguirre, died Sunday in Bernalillo County Medical Center in Albuquerque. He was born Saturday in Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City. He is survived by his mother; one brother, Joe Aguirre of Central; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and. 'rs. Juan Aguirre Sr., also of Central; and by several aunts and uncles. Graveside services will be held Wednesday morning at 10 in the Fierro Cemetery in Fierro with Deacon Johnnie Perez officiating.
