William Levi Neff (Billie) with wife, Clara Henrietta Heckel, and first child John Stanton Neff.
They lived in Etna at the time of the photo, which is taken about 1909.
William Levi Neff, born 1877 in Sharpsburg, Pa. to:
John Neff- b. 1849, Sharpsburg, Pa. Died in Sharpsburg, buried Greenwood Cem.
His parents were John Neff & Margaret Hartman Neff who immigrated to Sharpsburg in
1848 from Hesse Darmstadt Ger.on the ship "Elise".
and
Susanna Lott- b. 1854, died in Sharpsburg, buried Greenwood cem. Susan is the daughter
of Ernest (Stien) Lott & Catherine Lott who mainly resided in Plum and Patton Townships.
Before immigration to US, the Lott name was Stein.
William Levi Neff died in the 1960's, living at the Little Sisters of the Poor Home in
Pittsburgh. He is buried in Greenwood. He played baseball for the Etna 'Our Boys' or 'R Boys'
and was friends with Honas Wagner.

Clara Henrietta Heckel- born May, 1888 to in Etna to:
George Washington Heckel- b. Feb. 1849 Butler Co. Pa. Buried Etna Cem.
and
Wilhelmena Koch-- b. Oct. 6, 1843 Rothenberg, Khurhessen, Germany (Rothenberg ob Der Fulda).
She died Jan. 1, 1899, Etna, buried Etna cem.
Clara Heckel Neff McElhone is buried in Mt. Royal Cem., Glenshaw.
John Stanton Neff-born 1907, Etna pa. Married to Mingonette Francies.
Heckel family records are in the First Congregational Church/German Church of Etna.
The Heckel family originally came from Thal-Drulingen, Alsce Lorraine. The immigrants
were Andeas Heckel and his wife Henrietta Wiedeman (Whitman). They came first to Beaver Co.,
c. 1828,and attended Burys Church in New Sewicley Township there. The family of
Nicholas Wiedeman also came with them. This is Henrietta Wiedemans father. They all ended
up in Butler Co., in Jackson Township and Forward township, attending St. Pauls in Zelienople.
The early Neffs attended St. Marys Catholic Church in Sharpsburg.
