The side entrance to the library
(along the right side in above photo) is decorated with a ornamental
cast-iron facade, and within the
entranceway sits a bronze scuplture of a little girl, reading a book,
with her puppy sitting beside her.

The railroad running through the center of town displays a
dramatic rustic appearance,
camouflaged by trees on both sides.
Oakmont
is also home to the Oakmont-Verona Cemetery, found on the upper
hillside and bounded by Pennsylvania & Maryland Avenues, and 10th
& 12th Streets. This cemetery is in pristine condition, and it's
caretakers deserve public recognition for a job "well done"!
Oakmont
is also home to Dormition Of
The Holy Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church, Established in 1923. The
church services many events in its' own Social Hall, including the
annual Greek Day celebrations where ethnical culinary delights may be
found. This church is located along Washington Avenue. Below are
some photos of its buildings.
Another popular organization in the
community of Oakmont is the Elks Club, pcitured below.
The Elks is located next to the Greek Church on Washington Avenue.
The Oakmont Yacht Club Marina (Members
Only), pictured below, is located at the end of Washington Avenue along
the riverfront.
The hillside in the background is alongside that portion of Route 28
By-Pass which suffered heavily from landslides during the past few
years.
PENNDOT, using explosives, reduced the hillside to tiers hoping to
prevent future problems.
