"Where
my dad is standing is their vegetable garden however that is now
the dividing line between Swissvale and Swisshelm Park. The house still
stands there and is the only one with a double lot on that side. My family
no longer lives in the house.
The rest of the area surrounding the house was part of Horrocks Farm.
Mr. Horrocks just died a few years ago over the age of 100. My friend's
mother told me that when she was a child, her mother would give her a dime and a paper bag and she could get all the vegetables she could stuff into the
bag for a dime from Mr. Horrocks. He lived on Windemere Dr. across from the community center."
