My greatgreatgrandfather Benjamin Wood Born in England Oct 29th 1849
came over about 1860 was married to Mary (Hema?)
Florence and Benjamin Married March 7 1898 Pittsburgh I have the
certificate.
They lived at Harcuums Alley,Larkin Way and Jane Street they always
rented. Benjamin was a clerk, I believe for the railroad.
They had Bessie Wood born July 27th 1892 She married John or Fred Theil
she died August 1982 in Oakmont PA
They next had Raymond Benjamin Wood born Dec 24 1895 Pittsburgh Pa Died
March 18 1981 Florida. He married 1st Ruth, Second Emma B. Howard and
3rd Henrietta Weisand deceased Florida. He has several children most
living. No one knows anything.
Benjamin Died Oct 16th 1915 and is buried in Southside Cemetery. No
Stones. He is buried Between Mary who died Oct 5 1897 and his Second
wife Florence E. Bean born Dec 24th 1876 WV died in Pittsburgh about
1914.
The man at the cemetery would not let me look up the info in the book
nor would he let me write a letter and request it. I think he had an
issue because there were no stones.He did show us where the graves were
he just would not give me dates. I plan to request Florence's death
cert. And then I can share that with you.
Florence Bean and Benjamin Wood had George Washington Wood born Feb 22
1899 Pitts (my grandfather) died March 28 1958 buried Millersport Ohio
Cemetery Fairfield County off of Lancaster Street, near Buckeye Lake.
He married Jennie Mayvin Solomon born May 24th 1908 she died Nov 2 1972
Columbus Ohio Thombstone Pleasant Hill Cemetery Madison County OH. Her
ashes are in my basement. They were divorced 1928. Their only
son, my father, is still living. Mayvin married about 4 more
times and died under the name Barwick.
George Washington Wood had 2 sisters Helen Wood born abt 1904
Pittsburgh and Thelma Wood born abt 1901 Pittsburgh according to the
1910 Census. I would love to know more about them.
