Hunterdon County Query

Surname: WEAN

I'm looking for information regarding relatives of Benjamin F. WEAN (c. 1830-1893). On May 21, 1851 his place of residence is recorded as Tewksbury, Hunterdon County in a record of marriages attested to by the Town Clerk of Washington Township, Morris County which indicated his age was 21 his occupation as "mason" and his father as Peter Wean, deceased. The record also states that his bride was Martha Elizabeth PERRY, her age as 15, her residence as Morris County, Washington and her father as Garret Perry, deceased. The celebrant was H. Whitfield Hunt of Schooley's Mountain and the place of the marriage was Pleasant Grove.

He was in Flemington, Hunterdon County when he joined the Union forces during the Civil War, serving with Co. A, 15th Infantry Regiment, N.J. He enlisted 22 July 1862 in Hunterdon County and mustered out on 22 June 1865 Hall's Hill, VA. The 1880 Census listed him as head of a household in Tewksbury Township which included his wife, Martha and six children (Rachel (15), Catherine (12), Stewart (8), Annie (6), David A. (4) and Elisa (1).

I have been told that he had several other children, including :

Wesley 10 Mar. 1852-
Mary 02 Feb. 1854-1927
Edward 09 Nov. 1856
Jacob 03 Aug. 1857 and
Lucy C. 27 Jan. 1867-21 Jul. 1882

The 1910 Census shows his widow, Martha, living with a son Wesley age 59, and a grandson age 9 Loyd (sic).

I have been told by another researcher that Benjamin Wean was a cousin of Gershom Wean but I cannot document that connection.

I'm particularly interested in his ancestors and those of his wife, but would also welcome information on their descendants.
