My name is Stephen Newell I'm a descendent of the Newell family in Hunterdon county. I have a Newell family history book that contains information of the Newell family history in Hunterdon Co. The history begins with Jonannes Neul in 1697 in Staten Island. He moved to Hunterdon County in 1725 and purchased land on the left bank of the Raritan River. The land was said to extend from Stanton Station to Readington NJ. Also part of the land was used for the Newell burying ground located on the westernmost part of Readington.
